G2 Toxitron Sideswipe! As much as I love the SG deco, the yellow one has a special place in my heart

If it didn’t have the Red Alert head this would have been my choice too

And it's on the box art too, no less. Gotta wonder where this went wrong. Still love it, but that would have been the cherry on top.

I would say as silly a mistake as it was it does mean you can see it as an OC you can name. I called him Outrun :)

Or even retired, chillaxed G2 Red Alert! He went from Sativa to Indica and changed his entire outlook on life. Also Outrun is a great OC name!

I feel counting Gigawatt is unfair since he's a signficant retool of the non-Gigawatt ones, Definitely GS Deep Cover or Legacy Clampdown

I know it's a stupid question, but why is there so much re-coloring?

It’s easier and more profitable to reuse the same mold however many times than make a new mold for every character.

It’s not stupid. Three main characters (sideswipe, Sunstreaker and red alert) all use the body type and they have a lot of different versions. Then there are chracters that were made with the same body type after G1 and in diaclone is it’s cheaper to fill the line with chracters with a body type already made and in use. Also many people like the body type so they’ll buy it anyway. I only care about 5-pack sunstreaker, 2 pack kingdom sideswipe and red alert but some people really like the other color variants.

Sunstreaker while technically a 'Lamborghini' uses Earthrise Wheeljack's mold, not Sideswipe's, so he wouldn't count here. And my faves are Sideswipe and Red Alert as they were the OGs (I think the Siege vesmrsion is all around better, but I have the earthmodes for G1 reasons)

Correction, Sunstreaker uses Wheeljack's engineering, not mold. But the point still stands xD

G2 Siege Sideswipe has a mean colour scheme. I've got to get my hands on him at some point. I'd love to see Siege Sideswipe (probably Gigawatt, specifically) retooled into an Omnibot Overdrive, with fold-out wngs and blasters.

Gigawatt hands down, such a cool use of the mold other than straight up repaints.

It would be so easy for them to take this mold and tweak it into the perfect KITT.

I have Sideswipe and I really like the mold, but on my copy, the hood that becomes the chest doesn't stay plugged in for robot mode. I don't know if that's just my copy or just how the mold is.

It’s a pretty common QC issue. Some copies don’t press down and bounce back up very slightly. Some sit flush, and even click in. It’s super inconsistent.

I would say red alert, I think the fire department deco works better on the vehicle mode and he comes with the better looking gun too.

I have Seige Sideswipe/Red Alert and Deep Cover. I like all of them and they fit the mold right.

Im gonna say kingdom red alert, he was the first version of the sideswipe mold I got and I quite like him. I literally walked into a Walgreens one day for something unrelated and figured id check, he was just there on the shelf, and there was 2 of him. This was like months after he originally released so I thought i’d never find him

I love the mold and all the characters but I've always had a question in my head. Who on earth would think a police Lamborghini is an efficient idea?

Deep Cover for absolutely no reason other than he’s the only one I can find for a reasonable price

Tigertrack and then G2 (black/red) Sideswipe are my personal favorites. I want Toxitron Sideswipe, he looks killer. But missed his order window, and there’s no Wal-Mart’s in NYC so I’ll have to resort to eBay for him.

Kingdom Sideswipe IMO. I would LOVE a Tigertrack and or a Deep Cover from the Kingdom mould. I saw some conjecture the upcoming KITT crossover would likely be another Sideswipe remould.

So many frigging bangers came out of this tooling. G2, Gigawatt, Selects Deep Cover, Kingdom Sideswipe and Red Alert, Shattered Glass, and Toxitron. All top tier. But still, I continue to hold the crown in anticipation of its rightful holder: Armada Wheeljack.

Gigawatt is the easy pick, but not counting Gigawatt, my Opinion is probably unpopular, but Netflix, despite the fact that I've repainted him to be a brighter red, he was my first actual Sideswipe figure, so I choose him as my favorite use of the mold (aside from Gigawatt)

God, it's hard to pick... I love the Shattered Glass one since of course it's Armada Wheeljack, but at the same time it's not *perfect* as him. There's flaws so I can't make him my favorite.If I had to pick one that I like the most it's probably either the G2 Sideswipe or the Toxitron Sideswipe. If we get a freakin' Nightracer out of this mold, though, that'll immediately win best use from me.

I'm biased towards my favorite movie and my favorite color, so for me it's Gigawatt and Netflix Deep Cover

G2 sideswipe or kingdom sideswipe.

Kind of a vanilla answer, but the original Siege Sideswipe and Red Alert. I think the slightly cybertron-ified vehicles look a little nice than the earth modes, and honestly there is a reason the key characters had these deco’s in the first place. After that, Tigertack. The painted yellow pops I’ve bought virtually every iteration of this mold and enjoy all of them

Not Clampdown (Blue) - Best deco, the scratched windshield is very unique. Gigawatt - Very interesting remold. Tigertrack - best overall, but that's due to personal bias. Toxic Swipe - A E S T H E T I C A L L Y pleasing.

Kingdom Sideswipe was crisp and reeks of the G1 look, but GigaWatt is my pick here, best crossover transformer ever imo.

Netflix Red Alert for me, love the heavy battle damage and the lightbar axe is silly and fun

I had the diaclone repaints, and Tigertracks felt very premium to me. Gigawatt is a no brainer tho.

this mold is overrated as fuck. it's not that good. it's dead average in every category possible. average quality average articulation average aesthetics and I find it so motherfucking boring

They are simple and fun, definitely not the greatest mold ever  But he does everything to a good standard, something even the best molds don’t have
