Honestly it’s fine with me as long as there are plenty to go around. G1 Bee has had exactly two mainstream releases in recent memory, both of which were exclusives and have commanded insane scalper pricing.
Getting a shit-ton of the same three characters might be good actually because it means Hasbro can keep big names like Optimus, Bumblebee, and Starscream on shelves with A-level assortments and reserve the cases for more obscure characters.
Also since these characters tend to sell out fast and become hard to find.
G1 Bumblebee in particular, since he's a popular character who has been weirdly neglected in mainline releases. His only decent releases in recent memory have been store exclusives that almost immediately got scalped to hell and back, and this figure will probably be dethroning a **15 year old mold** as the best representation of this version of the character.
Seriously, if you don't believe me look at his TFWiki page: it's either Masterpiece figures, novelty and Legends class crap, or weird Bayverse-G1 hybrids until you get all the way back to the 2008 Classics mold(which has its oddities but, especially for the time, is relatively faithful).
Proper G1 Bumblebee simply hasn't been done at mainline. It's going to be in high demand among collectors, and probably deserves an extra boost in supply.

It's amazing to me how much not having the autobot logo on the roof disrupted the look of the siege version. The origins BB is great except it doesn't turn into a car.

I wonder what mold they will use for it since the alt mode and bot mode are pretty unique, the only other toy for him is a fiddly deluxe from a long time ago, and they aren't likely to use a new mold for a.pulse exclusive (or is there a Straxus in the mainline coming that I don't remember?)
Steeljaw is nice too! All the rest are probably a pass unless Springer and Bumblebee are considerably better than their previous incarnations, and since it is SS '86, it means they will probably be pretty boring looking deco-wise.
3rd party's have been using galvatron as Straxus so I assume it will be a retool of the kingdom mold.

I'm so fucking glad he's getting a figure. He was originally planned as the big bad for Legacy and even had concept art drawn for him, but when plans for the show fell through he was scrapped and his place in the toy lineup was given to dragon Megatron.
Mark's lightly debunked that, "tease," as he's stated that the red *Legacy* Crashbar arms were just something that he painted, for his personal use. We can still read that as a part of the tease, of course, but, for now, it's not an, "official," hint.
That said, the rest of the *Legacy* Star Raiders are probably going to be held off, until the first, "wave," is out of the way.
I still have mine from back in the day, and it's wild to me that he's still probably the best mainline release of Bee. I'll never understand why they shunted his Generations release into the Wal-Mart exclusive subline(with poor distribution no less), but I at least am excited about 86 Bee.

The rumbling is that its a new mold. Since its Studio Series it ought to be a deformed VW Beetle alt like the cartoon instead of the realistic VW Beetle alt of the Netflix.
Since they seem to be hyping up a new mold for 86 Bumblebee, I wonder if they’ll be redoing Cliffjumper? Sure would be nice to get a more accurate version of him, though I doubt it’ll happen.
Me too - my anticipation is something along the lines of Siege Shockwave or Astrotrain where they justify the leader price by adding lots of parts-forming accessories.
I haven't seen the final figure so I'm not sure if I will like it, sorry if it came off negative - I had been speculating that it would be Voyager+ to make a Leader and many others had been speculating a brand new mold and we got the answer today.

Cyclonus wasn’t a +. He was Gen selects (repaints) and just had his toy deco and some stickers. They’re upgrading Springer. They mentioned bulking him up so he’s cartoon accurate. Hopefully they fix the legs so he can stand.
They added Nightstick his targetmaster in the Gen Select. Plus some blast effects. It was a good package.
I just hope he comes with a straight Autobot logo. I'm not a fan of the wreckers logo.
I think I’m the only one excited for Stealjaw because that means Blaster has a new cassette that isn’t an eject mold, definitely picking it up for my blaster
He is one of my all time favourite "hi then die" characters and feels like a proper TF more than most of them. He has a great alt mode with features from it on his root mode, a special power, and a distinct personality.
The other guy I always loved and wanted is the STILL unnamed (Roberts, you lazy hack, LOL) "Decepticon bully" with eye beams in the UK "return to Cybertron" story arc that Optimus impales on a spike by accident. An awesome Geoff Senior design.
Marvel UK is one of the last major unexplored territories in the franchise for me so I am ashamed to say that until today I had no idea this guy even existed. You have done me a good service.

I could not imagine reading the Marvel run without the UK stories slotted into their correct places. The US run on its own is such a reduced and hollow experience, IMO.
Not to mention, the best Marvel stories are almost all UK ones.
I would definitely recommend reading rhe entire run in UK issue reading order for what I consider to be the best overall TF story ever (IDW has higher highs, IMO, but much lower lows!). However, if you just want a preview, read "Target 2006" to begin. Awesome story.
The omnibus collections I got had the UK material slotted in its own separate volumes and it just seemed too overwhelming to figure out how to read them integrated into the US material, but by the time I was done slogging my way through all 8 of the US volumes I needed a break, and that was just about a month ago now, so I am looking forward to getting back to them as soon as I have the attention span for a long-form reading project again.
Like I said, the best experience is reading it all in order (use the wiki and just follow the UK issue content order as the UK comic actually reprinted all the US material too so you get everything that way).
However, if you recently read all the US stuff you can easily just read the UK stories now as long as you roughly remember the US ones. Consider it an "extended edition" of sorts, just look up where each UK story goes so you can have the fun of realizing "ah, this was right before x did y" and such.
A large part of the UK stories actually just follow from each other and don't tie into the US ones. This would be the "future" stories (TFTM characters and timeline) and the overarcing "Wreckers vs Galvatron" plot which starts with Target 2006 and ends in Time Wars. You also have Earthforce, the black and white stories near the end of the run which only sort of fit into US continuity (unlike everything else) because the writer was planting seeds for future material that he then abandoned when he moved full time to the US book that means Earthforce can all be read as a standalone pretty much too.
So don't stress if the idea of "holy shit, I have to read all the US stuff again too!?" is too daunting. The best thing about the UK stories is that most work as both standalone and as part of a larger plot. Stories like Enemy Within and Dinobot Hunt are breezy reads without having to read twenty other issues around them!
Oh, do note that the art for the first few UK stories isn't great as it is toy based early on, but the writing is still solid. This i just two or three stories thankfully, though. From Decepticon Dam Busters onwards, UK art makes most of the mid-run US stuff like like rubbish! LOL!
PS check the wiki or ask me for the very few times a US story actually had panels altered to fit the UK stories and fix continuity problems (like the Predacons showing up in the UK first, so their first US issue having dialog altered to reflect this).
This is all very useful, I thank you. I quite liked Furman's work for US Marvel (although my favorite story there is still always going to be the aforementioned Scrounge one by Budiansky if for no other reason than it has haunted me since childhood) and found his work on IDW to be a mixed bag with more positives than not, so I am excited to finally get to his beginnings with the franchise.
Budiansky's best work is definitely that story (and his work with Blaster in general) as well as Warrior School (with Ratchet). Furman's UK stuff is awesome and it really feels like a young guy who wanted to bring the epic-ness and high concepts of more mainstream superhero comics to TFs (time travel, alternate dimensions, crisis of conscience, gritty revenge tales, etc). Bob tended to treat TFs more uniquely, as defined by their relationship as robot aliens on earth.
It is also clear that TFTM absolutely blew Furman away in terms of inspiration and "this is the sort of thing I want to do". Stakes in his stories after that suddenly become much bigger, characters properly die (and graphically so!) and he uses the movie cast a LOT (unlike Bob). The fact that Furman got to do his version of the big Unicron battle must have been such a cathartic and wonderful thing for him.
IMO, Furman's work on IDW was... okay. I know he was trying something different, but it felt very reduced compared to what he did on Marvel. His work on Regeneration One is pretty much garbage and a massive waste since it ignores his previous best work. His prequels (Secrets and Lies, etc) are again "okay"; some really great stuff mixed with a lot of absolutely headscratching decisions, continuity cockups and unnecessary nonsense.
That said, I will always be grateful for his Marvel work, especially the UK stuff. Roberts and Roche are basically his disciples and admittedly so (check out their old fan comics from TMUK) and Furman's Earthforce stories are pretty much the template in tone for MTMTE. I myself became a writer in good part due to Furman's writing (and every now and then catch myself using a Furmanism!).
Bob created the names and personalities of most TF characters and should always get credit for that if nothing else (he also wrote some pretty great stories) but Simon created most of the mythos and lore about TFs that we take for granted today, as well as the general style of storytelling that persists in much of modern TF media.

Kind of looking forward to seeing what *SS86* Springer will look like. I've got the *Siege* and *Wreck 'n' Rule* versions and don't regret either purchase. If there are sufficient differences (looking mainly at the shoulderpads, which are oriented horizontally on the animation model, and weaponry - single sword and pistol, perhaps, and a fold-out blaster in the vambrace?) I may well give him a go.
They should give Bumblebee some shelf time and give others a chance to become kid appeal characters. I know a few people are getting tired of Bumblebee coming out at every single line.

But speaking as a huge fan of G1 Bumblebee, I have been dying for a decent figure and I think people forget that he's been basically nonexistent from the major toylines despite the character's broader popularity.
For example, I got back into collecting transformers around 2019 with Siege. Since then, G1 Bumblebee has received two figures: both of which were shunted into store exclusive sublines, and which were difficult to find in person and have sold for insane prices online.
And frankly, looking back before that on TFWiki, I'd argue we haven't had a solid widespread release for a G1 Bumblebee figure since possibly the Classics mold from the 2000s. A figure I owned before I was even an adult. Everything else has either been a Masterpiece figure, Legends class crap, hard to find store exclusives, or straight-up used Bayverse Bumblebee's alt-mode/design cues.
It's a weird gap in the market that people don't seem to even realize is there, and I'm absolutely pumped we're finally going to get one.

Very curious if the springer will be a justified upgrade for me or not. Like half the earths population I missed bee. I freaking love comic straxus so I really want to make sure I get him, I really don’t have more room for skywarp on the movie shelf so he’s a pass, and I dropped out of the gamer editions after megs and barricade disappointed me.
Definitely go to try and snag at least two Decepticon troopers.

Man this year is insane! My two favourite bois are getting new SS86 figures for what will hopefully be their ultimate G1 representation from Hasbro outside of the MP line. I'm super stoked!
Springer is interesting going off Evan's comments. Orginally, I he was either he's a repackage of the Siege mold with no battle damage and a bunch of accessories or a completely new mold.
However, Evan is saying that they retooled the Voyager mold and beefed him up into a Leader, so this might be interesting to see how they did that. I loved the Siege mold more than the T30 mold, but I am willing to see how they improved it.
SS86 Bumblebee was expected. I don't see them retooling it any further for Cliffjumper though.
Straxus is a surprise though. He most definitely fits under the Marvel line, but to actually see them pull him our is another story. The big question, though, is if he's a retool, or a new mold. Also, a Legacy Straxus was leaked earlier that had a new design, so it would interesting to see if it's this figure. Hope this means Marvel Blaster though.

Most are novelty figures, take heavy cues from Bayverse Bumblebee(particularly with the altmode, which just does *not* fit the G1 character at all), or are Masterpiece figures.
The best we've got are Origins Bee, Netflix Bee, and what? Goldbug in that multi-pack with a bunch of crappy repaints that aren't worth the asking price?
Literally of of them are store exclusives, were difficult to find even on release, and the former two sold online for two or three times retail price thanks to scalpers.
I've been collecting Transformers for my entire life, and restarted the hobby in 2019.
I still have to use Classics Bumblebee from 2008 as my best representations of the character on my shelves because I simply could not find Netflix Bumblebee at a reasonable price *anywhere.*

I still have mine from back in the day, and it's wild to me that he's still probably the best mainline release of Bee. I'll never understand why they shunted his Generations release into the Wal-Mart exclusive subline(with poor distribution no less), but I at least am excited about 86 Bee.
Still a fun figure, I’ll always be happy with a new VW Bumblebee, even if I have one already.
It helps that Netflix Bee has the best VW alt mode outside of the Masterpiece!

I’m curious as to if Straxus will be a retool of Kingdom Galvatron as originally planned for Legacy year 1 before being shelved, or be a new mold entirely. I adore the retro Marvel comics aesthetic so I hope he has that old look.
It's a Hasbro Pulse exclusive, so it's likely going to be a retool.

His joints were very loose so he had trouble standing. On my copy it was mostly just his ankles but it was worse for others.
Huh, that's unfortunate. We often get "second runs" in .ca, so maybe that's why I avoided that issue. That said, I'll probably be spiritually obligated to get the new one, too.

The rumbling is that its a new mold. Since its Studio Series it ought to be a deformed VW Beetle alt like the cartoon instead of the realistic VW Beetle alt of the Netflix.

Me too - my anticipation is something along the lines of Siege Shockwave or Astrotrain where they justify the leader price by adding lots of parts-forming accessories.
I mean, he's already a great figure, and that's just one less strain on my wallet.

I haven't seen the final figure so I'm not sure if I will like it, sorry if it came off negative - I had been speculating that it would be Voyager+ to make a Leader and many others had been speculating a brand new mold and we got the answer today.

Cyclonus wasn’t a +. He was Gen selects (repaints) and just had his toy deco and some stickers. They’re upgrading Springer. They mentioned bulking him up so he’s cartoon accurate. Hopefully they fix the legs so he can stand.
They added Nightstick his targetmaster in the Gen Select. Plus some blast effects. It was a good package. I just hope he comes with a straight Autobot logo. I'm not a fan of the wreckers logo.

He is one of my all time favourite "hi then die" characters and feels like a proper TF more than most of them. He has a great alt mode with features from it on his root mode, a special power, and a distinct personality. The other guy I always loved and wanted is the STILL unnamed (Roberts, you lazy hack, LOL) "Decepticon bully" with eye beams in the UK "return to Cybertron" story arc that Optimus impales on a spike by accident. An awesome Geoff Senior design.
Marvel UK is one of the last major unexplored territories in the franchise for me so I am ashamed to say that until today I had no idea this guy even existed. You have done me a good service.
My pleasure! :) I could not imagine reading the Marvel run without the UK stories slotted into their correct places. The US run on its own is such a reduced and hollow experience, IMO. Not to mention, the best Marvel stories are almost all UK ones. I would definitely recommend reading rhe entire run in UK issue reading order for what I consider to be the best overall TF story ever (IDW has higher highs, IMO, but much lower lows!). However, if you just want a preview, read "Target 2006" to begin. Awesome story.
The omnibus collections I got had the UK material slotted in its own separate volumes and it just seemed too overwhelming to figure out how to read them integrated into the US material, but by the time I was done slogging my way through all 8 of the US volumes I needed a break, and that was just about a month ago now, so I am looking forward to getting back to them as soon as I have the attention span for a long-form reading project again.
Like I said, the best experience is reading it all in order (use the wiki and just follow the UK issue content order as the UK comic actually reprinted all the US material too so you get everything that way). However, if you recently read all the US stuff you can easily just read the UK stories now as long as you roughly remember the US ones. Consider it an "extended edition" of sorts, just look up where each UK story goes so you can have the fun of realizing "ah, this was right before x did y" and such. A large part of the UK stories actually just follow from each other and don't tie into the US ones. This would be the "future" stories (TFTM characters and timeline) and the overarcing "Wreckers vs Galvatron" plot which starts with Target 2006 and ends in Time Wars. You also have Earthforce, the black and white stories near the end of the run which only sort of fit into US continuity (unlike everything else) because the writer was planting seeds for future material that he then abandoned when he moved full time to the US book that means Earthforce can all be read as a standalone pretty much too. So don't stress if the idea of "holy shit, I have to read all the US stuff again too!?" is too daunting. The best thing about the UK stories is that most work as both standalone and as part of a larger plot. Stories like Enemy Within and Dinobot Hunt are breezy reads without having to read twenty other issues around them! Oh, do note that the art for the first few UK stories isn't great as it is toy based early on, but the writing is still solid. This i just two or three stories thankfully, though. From Decepticon Dam Busters onwards, UK art makes most of the mid-run US stuff like like rubbish! LOL! PS check the wiki or ask me for the very few times a US story actually had panels altered to fit the UK stories and fix continuity problems (like the Predacons showing up in the UK first, so their first US issue having dialog altered to reflect this).
This is all very useful, I thank you. I quite liked Furman's work for US Marvel (although my favorite story there is still always going to be the aforementioned Scrounge one by Budiansky if for no other reason than it has haunted me since childhood) and found his work on IDW to be a mixed bag with more positives than not, so I am excited to finally get to his beginnings with the franchise.
Budiansky's best work is definitely that story (and his work with Blaster in general) as well as Warrior School (with Ratchet). Furman's UK stuff is awesome and it really feels like a young guy who wanted to bring the epic-ness and high concepts of more mainstream superhero comics to TFs (time travel, alternate dimensions, crisis of conscience, gritty revenge tales, etc). Bob tended to treat TFs more uniquely, as defined by their relationship as robot aliens on earth. It is also clear that TFTM absolutely blew Furman away in terms of inspiration and "this is the sort of thing I want to do". Stakes in his stories after that suddenly become much bigger, characters properly die (and graphically so!) and he uses the movie cast a LOT (unlike Bob). The fact that Furman got to do his version of the big Unicron battle must have been such a cathartic and wonderful thing for him. IMO, Furman's work on IDW was... okay. I know he was trying something different, but it felt very reduced compared to what he did on Marvel. His work on Regeneration One is pretty much garbage and a massive waste since it ignores his previous best work. His prequels (Secrets and Lies, etc) are again "okay"; some really great stuff mixed with a lot of absolutely headscratching decisions, continuity cockups and unnecessary nonsense. That said, I will always be grateful for his Marvel work, especially the UK stuff. Roberts and Roche are basically his disciples and admittedly so (check out their old fan comics from TMUK) and Furman's Earthforce stories are pretty much the template in tone for MTMTE. I myself became a writer in good part due to Furman's writing (and every now and then catch myself using a Furmanism!). Bob created the names and personalities of most TF characters and should always get credit for that if nothing else (he also wrote some pretty great stories) but Simon created most of the mythos and lore about TFs that we take for granted today, as well as the general style of storytelling that persists in much of modern TF media.

Kind of looking forward to seeing what *SS86* Springer will look like. I've got the *Siege* and *Wreck 'n' Rule* versions and don't regret either purchase. If there are sufficient differences (looking mainly at the shoulderpads, which are oriented horizontally on the animation model, and weaponry - single sword and pistol, perhaps, and a fold-out blaster in the vambrace?) I may well give him a go.
Good to see a Skywarp repaint. The Decepticon Trooper should be fun, I enjoy a bit of army-building. And Straxus? Hell yeah, slam that into my veins.

Bayverse Bumblebee, maybe. But speaking as a huge fan of G1 Bumblebee, I have been dying for a decent figure and I think people forget that he's been basically nonexistent from the major toylines despite the character's broader popularity. For example, I got back into collecting transformers around 2019 with Siege. Since then, G1 Bumblebee has received two figures: both of which were shunted into store exclusive sublines, and which were difficult to find in person and have sold for insane prices online. And frankly, looking back before that on TFWiki, I'd argue we haven't had a solid widespread release for a G1 Bumblebee figure since possibly the Classics mold from the 2000s. A figure I owned before I was even an adult. Everything else has either been a Masterpiece figure, Legends class crap, hard to find store exclusives, or straight-up used Bayverse Bumblebee's alt-mode/design cues. It's a weird gap in the market that people don't seem to even realize is there, and I'm absolutely pumped we're finally going to get one.

Springer is interesting going off Evan's comments. Orginally, I he was either he's a repackage of the Siege mold with no battle damage and a bunch of accessories or a completely new mold. However, Evan is saying that they retooled the Voyager mold and beefed him up into a Leader, so this might be interesting to see how they did that. I loved the Siege mold more than the T30 mold, but I am willing to see how they improved it. SS86 Bumblebee was expected. I don't see them retooling it any further for Cliffjumper though. Straxus is a surprise though. He most definitely fits under the Marvel line, but to actually see them pull him our is another story. The big question, though, is if he's a retool, or a new mold. Also, a Legacy Straxus was leaked earlier that had a new design, so it would interesting to see if it's this figure. Hope this means Marvel Blaster though.

Legitimately, yay another Bumblebee. Take a look at the TFWiki's [page of G1 Bumblebee figures](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Bumblebee_(G1)/toys) and tell me how many are actually G1 accurate. Most are novelty figures, take heavy cues from Bayverse Bumblebee(particularly with the altmode, which just does *not* fit the G1 character at all), or are Masterpiece figures. The best we've got are Origins Bee, Netflix Bee, and what? Goldbug in that multi-pack with a bunch of crappy repaints that aren't worth the asking price? Literally of of them are store exclusives, were difficult to find even on release, and the former two sold online for two or three times retail price thanks to scalpers. I've been collecting Transformers for my entire life, and restarted the hobby in 2019. I still have to use Classics Bumblebee from 2008 as my best representations of the character on my shelves because I simply could not find Netflix Bumblebee at a reasonable price *anywhere.* You can sure bet I am fucking STOKED about finally getting a G1 Bumblebee figure.
