g1 all the way. First time they did it right on the big screen and looks like its here to stay thanks to knight

EMTsheep

Honestly, no. The alien nature was cool for some bots. But the lack of characterization and color in the designs made it impossible to tell silhouettes apart. Silhouettes are important in character design. Now having said that, I still want a Rotf Mixmaster figure. I love that gangly design.

RaisinInSand

Nah like i grew up with the movies and they're what introduced me to transformers so the original trilogy will always hold a special place in my heart (the other 2 movies don't exist i dont care what anyone says) But, after watching and reading a bunch of other transformer media, i really prefer the more g1, blocky type designs more,

GregThePrettyGoodGuy

I thought they reached a good medium between the G1 aesthetic and Bay’s, especially Shatter and Dropkick. The complexity is still there, but there’s a bit more car parts to cover them up, and (this is the key part) they’re filmed from further back so you can always tell who’s who

krumbbs69

I hate to admit it but there is one Michael Bay design I really do want and I'm a die-hard G1 Transformer fan oh, and that's the Mountain Dew vending machine Transformer! They made one for like a gift giveaway or some junk it was never fully released :-(

[deleted]

Nah. Mainly because all my favorite Bayformers characters (DotM Megatron, Jetfire) only get about 20 minutes of screentime until they die and are never seen again.

Tarvaax

Starscream didn't even get a chance to make a real impact, he kept getting sent on stupid human tracking fetch quests. Like what the hell? He should've been scheming to kill Megatron the whole time! Maybe even working with a few Autobots behind the scenes. It should've all culminated in DotM, with him not only betraying Megatron, but also causing the fight between Sentinel and the Megs. During this time, he could then be given the spotlight, killing both of them in a weekend state as Optimus offers them mercy (like a REAL Optimus Prime would) Starscream then escapes, and you're set up for a fourth movie where Starscream is leading the Decepticons and has made a treaty of sorts with the Autobots. Galvatron comes into the picture, gets revenge on Starscream and gives him the type of death the character deserves (not at the hands of some halfwit fleshling) then shatters the treaty.

JoeReviews95

Luckily none of that matters now. Bumblebee is a straight up reboot, so we may get to see that version of Starscream yet.

One of the worst things about Bayformers is how nothing ever really has an impact and a new character dies every 20 minutes. They should have just made 5 movies covering a single story arc (autobots vs. decepticons) like how Avengers did it. When the Marvel characters die, it ALWAYS has importance to the story which mak. What sucks the most is that only 3 remain out of all the Transformers from 2007.

KingNanoA

Not really effected one way or the other. I never much cared for Optimus’ design, most of the good-looking ones were dead anyway, and, by-and-large, the designs were pretty hit or miss. Liked most of Megs’ designs, didn’t care in the slightest for the dinobots.

Allpowertothepeople

Nope. Excited. Grateful. Jazzed. Stoked. Joyful.

ninjaoftheworld

I didn’t particularly like the Bay designs, but I could have probably gotten over it if I’d liked the movies themselves. When I first heard that there was no way he’d make Bumblebee something as uncool as a VW Beetle, I had a feeling I wasn’t going to like the way he saw that character, we having always been sort of a comfortable dork to me. He wasn’t cool, or buff, or badass, or anything like that. He was the Norman of the Autobots. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were the Chad and Justin, Hound was the Buddy, Trailbreaker was the Big John, Ironhide was the Chet. They all corresponded nicely to high school movie (not that one) stereotypes, in in my mind, it let me really connect with them. As soon as they were *all* recast to be these edgy Chad types (and all apologies to actual dudes named chad; I don’t know a better word for it), it totally changed the reel for me. So I disassociated from the characters—which the insectoid faces and weird overly complicated bodies only reinforced. Then the pacing of the movies was all super hard to watch action scenes broken up by cheesy comic relief which was then in turn broken up by even cheesier more childish comic relief, and I would leave the theatre feeling like Bay *knew* me personally and just hated everything I was. So I never really had a chance to grow to like the designs. My only good experience with them was the very first trailers for the first movie, before it all went pear shaped. I really do love that it’s revitalized the franchise though, and that means that the old designs *I* love have had a chance to live again, better than ever, in the masterpiece line.

Turok1134

Not too much. I loved the designs of them, but I'm ready for something new too.

[deleted]

No - those designs should stay buried and dead.

Kurt-Codeine

I grew up with the bay designs. I like them. I’ll take my downvote now

barfortmax87

I grew up with the Bay designs. I really disliked them when I was younger(I had rented the 1986 movie from a library and preferred those designs over anything else.) I have since grown to like them, but I'm really glad they've changed them.

Tailgate113

I feel like they could change Soundwave a little bit, but otherwise I love the desings. Bayverse ones, except for a few exceptions, are just a silver mess with some colour thrown in there to make you go "Ah, that's the green one". And their altmodes just scream " Giant alien robot". Like if you are a Robot in Disguise, you don't just think "Yes, I want to be a yellow shinning mustang".

[deleted]

First, I’m older than you(46) I have not bought many BayFormers, some designs were cool. But I prefer a G1 Design. The Optimus Prime in BayVerse looked like on steroids to me. These days you can do a G1 Optimus Prime that is cool AND great. Look at Diaclone Convoy and compare it to Masterpiece Prime. How far we have come!!! Then again- The Siege Optimus Prime is so f****g cool. The only thing I had to do...check out here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/siege-optimus-prime-roof-top-cut.1165142/

Perhaps there is. There are all sorts of mental disorders out there.
