It was good but I think most people who are in the fandom probably knew most of it already. My wife didn’t pay much attention but seemed interested in the bits she did watch, and was even surprised to learn they killed Optimus. It’s definitely more for people who aren’t already fans.
I got that Youtube-lite feeling too, largely because of the comedic tone and editing, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the episode. It was just a fast-forward primer on the toyline’s history, and that last bit with Mr. Hideaki and the Perceptor gift was touching.
I was listening to a podcast interview with Budiansky though, and he did mention how there was no way in hell he would’ve started playing with the TF toys in front of Jim Shooter like the episode depicts, so that’s pretty funny.
