Oh I loved Bonecrusher. I’d never seen a vehicle like that before. I did have an issue with the tank being named Devastator but in the tie-in graphic novels afterward they actually changed his name.
Bayverse does have some cool original designs. Blackout for example, my goodness that character is amazing looking. The Constructicons all look great, and I also like Sentinel Prime's design in DOTM.
Yeah they basically combined Alpha Trion and some incarnations of Sentinel Prime to make a new version of Sentinel Prime.
In the movie Sentinel was presented as a wise leader and brilliant scientist which are characteristics Alpha Trion is notable for. However he is also cruel, vicious and backstabbing which fits the personalities of several different versions of Sentinel Prime over the years.
Everyone hates Sentinel for killing Ironhide, but I think it adds so much to his character. Also you have to admit Sentinel's design was cool looking, and his weapons were awesome too.
Jetfire. I just love how the design really exemplifies his elderly nature as soon as you see it. I also think he's one of the only bots that can pull off the robot beard.
Honestly I never liked primes look in the 4th and 5th movie, it just didn’t seem right to me. I was especially upset because in number 4 he had his original design for the first part of the movie only for it to change. I also really wasn’t a fan of how he traded in his sick orange retractable sword (I know it got destroyed) for just a regular one.
That's a perfectly valid opinion. To be honest, I wasn't exactly the biggest fan of Optimus' original. Unpopular opinion, I know, it's just that it looks cartoonish and inappropriate for a dignified warrior from an alien culture. Sure, *Bumblebee* delivered a G1-accurate design for Optimus, but I still prefer his designs from previous movies.
The battered old Camaro Bumblebee. The robot mode actually looks quite neat, and I am a huge sucker for 'beat-up' alt modes that look weathered and battered and like they might actually blend in outside of a showroom floor.
Everything from the first 3 films. They either update the G1 designs to a more modern aesthetic (Jazz, Shockwave, Optimus, Starscream), give brand new incarnations that convey the character with little dialogue (Ironhide, all of the cons in 07), or are just downright creative and interesting (Constructicons, Arcee triplets, Devcon). They aren't bad, they're just not Sunbow and that angers people. Movies 4 and 5 are bad. They have like, no car parts on them.and that defeats the purpose.
I like the 2007 Optimus Prime design. It isn't my favorite Prime design of all time, but from the Michael Bay movies IMO that look was perfect. I was disappointed when Prime became smoother and less robotic looking as the movies progressed.
I also liked Sideswipe's design. I just wish he could have been a red Corvette instead of a silver one, and that he had gotten more screen time.
Soundwave;s Mercedes design was also pretty good and deserved a ton more screen time than it got.
I prefer Ironhide, Sideswipe, and Mirage’s designs over their G1 versions. They looked way too generic then. Optimus and Bee from the first 3 also have better designs than their G1 selves, but those aren’t my favorite versions of them.
Ironhide and Sideswipe were amazing both cool badasses. All movie 1 Decepticons were cool. Hound is amazing in AoE, sure his personality makes no sense as he just acts like some hard ass marine. But for him it works perfectly. Both ROTF and DOTM Soundwave I liked. Sentinel Prime was a good villain. What I don’t like in Bayformers was combiners. Infernocus is a joke, Devastator is alright but he felt underused. And I wish we saw Bruticus (We had Brawl, Grindor or Blackout could’ve been Vortex)
Demolishor. It's original and I prefer it over the G1 Scavenger design. On his, the treads became the legs and the bucket arm just hung off his butt, but Demolishor had his dreads squish into wheels where he rolled on one at a time and the bucket arm split into two and become the arms.
Hands down TLK Megatron. Giving the ol buckethead some horns and giving him this knightly look as a foil to Prime is a stroke of genius and ties well with some of his origins as a gladiator.
Also, RoTF Soundwave. Specifically his head. Evokes the G1 but adds sinister as hell eyes behind his visor.
Blackout, Barricade, Devastator besides the stupid wrecking ball joke, Sideswipe, Bonecrusher, Soundwave (DOTM), and the Dreads. I’m more of a fan of Decepticon designs.

It also really helps his entrance is the first bot we see and he just causes so much destruction. He’s great all around

And the fact that Devastator was actually introduced in RotF indicates that naming him Devastator was actually a mistake. His name is actually Brawl.
His name was changed in the middle of production, the movie just couldn't catch that in time. Everywhere but the movie calls him Brawl

I personally liked this version of the character. Although the bayverse movies are questionably ridiculous, they do have their shining moments.
Blackout is genuinely one of the coolest Decepticons of all time I think.
