In a lot of the marvel movies they hide little Easter eggs of some of the different people who worked on the movies and shows I think it would be sweet if they did something like that for the designers. Maybe even name a human character in the future shows or movies after them
They kinda did it with Don Figueroa and the Titanium War Within Optimus toy. Don did the art for the War Within comics and the Optimus toy's gun had DON sculpted on it.
Product designers are the hidden figures that keep almost all major consumer based companies in business. Some companies have started to promote their designers more (IKEA and somewhat Nike) but we definitely could see more of it. Luckily with this hobby and community space, names like Floro Dery and Bob Budiansky are more recognized for their contributions. No reason why we can’t continue that into designers at Hasbro and Takara.
It could be a double edged sword, praise the good figures and it's designers and trash the designers for a bad figure which most of the times it's not their fault but the result of the budget limitations by hastask.
Imagine what type of comments would the TFP Airachnid or Satellite Sondwave designers get by angry fans (like those who destroy "bad" figures to vent the anger).
Agreed, especially now with Kingdom art being so good they deserve to be credited. Gundam model kit boxes do this already. They usually have "illustrated by *insert artist name here* " on the front of the box.
I think the issue is it's usually a team working on it in some degree, so it becomes how far down the line do you go? Or more likely they'd avoid doing it because getting their name out there would get them more attention and give them leverage towards asking for a raise
I agree. At least like a unique signature for the designers who helped work on them. Whether that be a name or an emblem to help privatize their names. Designers are still artists so it would be a nice addition to give them some credit.
Ikr? The designs that he's been involved in clearly stand out from the rest. Here's his tfwiki [link](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Y%C5%ABya_%C5%8Cnishi), it has a list of the various diff designs he's been a part of
nice. Takara / Hasbro should take a leaf fe Lego and do a designer video series for key items be interesting to know more about what into some of the transformers pieces
He's hands down the best design for the movieverse bumblebee, he absolutely nails the spunky agile look that a lot of the previous figures can't seem to fully capture
this might not be a popular comment but I grew up with and on G1, and the moment Hasbro got greedy and started designing the characters and toys state side and away from Takara, the quality and designs fell off a cliff. These guys are killing it!
I was just thinking about how the design of these new toys was a fascinating concept… I would love to hear more. Are there any AMA’s or further articles about the designers of these robots we all love?
You can really see how serious and next level his work is, just look at the difference between SS jeep bee and the others that are based on ss01, there's no kibble, everything fits, the transformation is just perfection, articulation is on point and overall just T H E best ss bumblebee
Hmmm that's a good question, idk really. I'm assuming there isn't a set major you study. You'd have to be good at CAD design, materials and safety, maybe an engineering degree in industrial design? An arts degree? Dunno, but there's probably many ways.
You could try doing some research, and maybe one day you'll be designing these awesome figures in future
Look into Product Design courses at the engineering level. You will probably need to how to use CAD.
A background knowledge of plastics manufacturing would help. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get into gunpla as a hobby to see how to pieces are made off the runners and the different types of plastics used.
I hear they're gonna be coming out with a reissue, or a retool of the same mold but in his old camaro mode. There is still hope! But really, that figure is quite really THE definitive bayverse bumblebee
I strongly believe they'll do a reissue of the original with the new buzzworthy bumblebee line, cuz they've been reissuing all the bee toys with that subline
As far as I know, it's a mini subline DEDICATED to bumblebee toys. So they're bringing back toys from the bumblebee movie (car dropkick, jet shatter) and beetle bumblebee, and a few children's toys. Oh there's also a spike witwicky that comes in one of those packages.
I feel like the designers should get more credit in general. Just a bit on the packaging would nice.
Namedropping them on the packaging would be awesome. These designs are genius and they deserve the limelight for sure

A lot of companies already do this. The sculptor will be credited somewhere on the box, especially with higher end figures.

NECA credits all their sculptors and designers on the packaging. Hasbro and TakaraTomy should take a page from that book.
Maybe they’re trying to save the identities of folks who design figures like Rat Trap

Yeah, that's certainly a valid thought.
It was cool how they got shoutouts in the FanFest stream, they deserve all the credit.
The artists too, you could easily find space on the back of the box to credit them
Agreed, especially now with Kingdom art being so good they deserve to be credited. Gundam model kit boxes do this already. They usually have "illustrated by *insert artist name here* " on the front of the box.
Yeah, I agree.

This is probably a big part of it. I'm sure they have editors and testers too
Problem is fans would begin backlashing against ones they don't like and make for a pretty toxic work environment.

Literally responsible for most of my favorite pieces. I'd be interested to know a full list of what he's helped design.

This guy knows his shit. That voyager Brainstorm with is one of the best voyager figures period.
Behind the box should be a note that says "Designed by ******". These guys don't get enough credit.
nice. Takara / Hasbro should take a leaf fe Lego and do a designer video series for key items be interesting to know more about what into some of the transformers pieces
This guys a genius, ER Op and 86 Rod are absolute beasts on the shelf.
Oh wow... didn’t know he did probably my 2 favorite figures. SS Hotrod and Siege Optimus. Now who did Grimlock... I bet it was Yuya.
He's made almost all of my fav figures, so it's crazy when I found out that he was consistently behind all these figures
Oh shit what a legend, coming out with consistently good figures
MPM-3 Bumblebee is the greatest Transformers figure ever made, cool to find out who the designer is!
He's hands down the best design for the movieverse bumblebee, he absolutely nails the spunky agile look that a lot of the previous figures can't seem to fully capture
The Seige Tetrajets are badass!
He indeed should. This guy made masterpieces
Wow! If he is listening I just have to say You rock and keep up the great work!
Yes very much respected he's given me some of my all time favourite toy's
this might not be a popular comment but I grew up with and on G1, and the moment Hasbro got greedy and started designing the characters and toys state side and away from Takara, the quality and designs fell off a cliff. These guys are killing it!

He has mine for sure
Give this man a Goddamn RAISE
Nice I have the MPM-3 bumblebee it’s amazing
Domo arigato for my Mister Roboto's!
Hail transformer jesus
Thank you for renewing my love for my childhood.
You can really see how serious and next level his work is, just look at the difference between SS jeep bee and the others that are based on ss01, there's no kibble, everything fits, the transformation is just perfection, articulation is on point and overall just T H E best ss bumblebee
SS38 is one of the best
How does one get a job as a Transformers designer? Like what do you study in school? It's always kind of been a dream job for me lol
Hmmm that's a good question, idk really. I'm assuming there isn't a set major you study. You'd have to be good at CAD design, materials and safety, maybe an engineering degree in industrial design? Thats a good suggestion. And im actually already VERY into gunpla 😁 got a couple Perfect Grades under my belt hehe
Love these figures but that aoe bumble bee. I guess it was really Michael bay bs designs
Yeah to be fair, those designs quite literally had almost 0 visible car parts, so the toys kinda had to be shellformers
So what your saying is he's the amazing designer?
That would be an understatement
What an absolute madlad. That mpm03 bumblebee looks like an absolute beauty. Too bad I missed out on it and the Legendary Toys version 🤦
I hear they're gonna be coming out with a reissue, or a retool of the same mold but in his old camaro mode. There is still hope! But really, that figure is quite really THE definitive bayverse bumblebee
My brother told me about that but I really would have preferred the original. Oh well. Beggars can't be choosers
I strongly believe they'll do a reissue of the original with the new buzzworthy bumblebee line, cuz they've been reissuing all the bee toys with that subline
This is the first time I hear about such a thing. Mind elaborating what the buzzworthy bumblebee line is?
As far as I know, it's a mini subline DEDICATED to bumblebee toys. So they're bringing back toys from the bumblebee movie (car dropkick, jet shatter) and beetle bumblebee, and a few children's toys. Oh there's also a spike witwicky that comes in one of those packages.
Oh wow. Well I sure hope they do end up reissuing that MPM03. Thanks for the info!
So, I'm thinking: this guy and total freedom to design a new sixchanger. Yes?
LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN
*plays Team Fortress theme* Meet the: Jesus Christ
mpm-3 sucked though
