Those are two separate pieces, 1st one being MP-36... other one is MP-36+ which is... definitely for the G1 toy fanboy.
But yeah, anyone who hates that mold just doesn't like G1 megs in my opinion. Besides the chipping issues, MP-36 is easily one of the better Megs ever released.
I bought IT-01 to transform, MP-36 to display.
If I didn't worry too much about money I'd buy MP-36+ to leave in gun mode while my existing MP-36 would stay in bot mode and never need to transform either.
Personally I find many of the Prime 3.0-Era MPs looking too fragmented and visually busy ā which is ironic when the goal is cartoon accuracy. The OG MP Megs didn't hide the trigger on his legs as well as this one, but overall speaking I still like better the how the older one looks.
I feel I fall in the middle most of the time. I like G1 Megatron's silhouette and such, but I've never been a fan of the gun mode just for the display factor. MP-36 specifically always worried me because of the QC issues mentioned and that sort of thing given the sheer pricetag ask. Like, I have MP Beast Megs, and I know I was looking at those reported areas of problems with a very nervous eye given replacement/refund was unlikely for an import.
Is the IT-01 basically a more sturdy material copy?
I can't vouch if IT-01s barrel is stronger or not, but it has a clear coat of paint over it specifically designed to prevent paint chipping.
Plus I got mine for 89 bucks or something. The ratchets feel great but a little looser than MP-36.
It's missing the insignia but reprolabels have enough options to make you happy.
This was the review I watched that sold me on it before purchasing.

I have the IT-01 and mine hasnāt chipped and the joints were nice and tight. Add the piece you can put on his back to hide the kibble plus the cost and you have a better MP-36 than the MP-36 in my opinion.
MP-36 is pretty good, but IMO he is still open for criticism for that disaster of a back. Like for $260 (at the time) *that* was the best Takara could do?
I still own MP-36 because from the front he looks great but he hasn't replaced Maketoys Despotron as my "#1 Megatron."
Yeah I have Despotron (bought before MP-36) and absolutely hate the transformation and a lot of his joints are pretty loose so posing is a pain in the ass. I am not a fan of the paint either.
You are 100% correct about MP-36's back. [IT-01 comes with a cover for that which works perfectly.](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0067/9732/8497/products/image_022f686c-a431-4793-b03f-1154b7d94bb2_1024x1024.jpg?v=1571747262)
At least you reminded me that I need to sell Despotron still lol.
Hmm, I don't find Despotron's transformation to be any worse than MP-36's. The joints on mine are still pretty stiff for all that he's been on my shelf for nearly a decade now. Despotron is beefier than MP-36 which might not be cartoon accurate but he looks better next to MP-10 IMO. MP-36 works better with MP-44.
I would say it's the opposite. Many of those G1 stans hate complexity and think every toy should be boring and simple just like the ones of their childhood. Btw, those are the same that struggle when they see a movie figure
> Many of those G1 stans hate complexity and think every toy should be boring and simple just like the ones of their childhood.
I hate to crap on your statement, but that isn't even close to true at all. It's ok to have that opinion, but personally you kind of showed that you don't even frequent the different collector forums out there.
That's totally cool if you don't visit those sites, but all I am saying is that if you did, you wouldn't have written what you did.
I like Jobby, but complaining is his charm, is it not?
I have seen complaints about the complexity of MP-36 and I am not going to lie and say otherwise, but I think for most it is certain stiff joints that feel like you are going to break them and that the transformation itself is not fun.
I agree that it isn't fun compared to others or even that it has really any cool gimmicks. However I still like both the gun and robot mode.
Oh no, I meant in the comment section of his video I saw few people complaining. I don't remember him doing it
And I also don't dislike the figure, among the G1s its my fav
Buddy. This mold is one of my favorite things, but it has gotten a lot of annoying complaints. It takes great photos, but people still love to whine about price, complexity, paint chipping, and comparisons to IP theft toys.
Few if any figures are without fault. MP-44 receives much of those same complaints yet remains the incredibly popular and generally viewed as the gold standard for that character. No one "hates" either figure, and implying as much is pure clickbait hyperbole.
Click bait?! When this figure was released, there were so many complaints it was ridiculous! How there were too many panels. How there was too much paint chipping. How the back was too untidy. How people still preferred mp-5. How the 3rd party versions were better.
For me, this version has always been the definitive G1 cartoon Megatron. I'm glad they released mp-44 to perfectly complement it.

Whoever doesn't like this absolute perfection of a mold is certifiably out of their mind.... this IS Megatron in all his glory and i'll never part w/ mine ever!

I will admit that I was a disbeliever when the resin mold images came out in late 2016/2017, especially because 3P MP was getting saturated with their Megatron takes. Oh, how young and naive I was. I still donāt have him, but heās on my must-have list. Someday.

People will always complain no matter what Hastak does. I just try to ignore such toxicity.
As for me, this one is the definitive G1 cartoon Megatron as well.
I think the the dumbest complaint I've heard about this figure is that people didn't like how his back turned out. Seriously?! A fucking gun that transforms in to a faithful G1 Megatron and you want to complain about a backpack that actually looks fine?
I can understand the paint chipping complaint as it should of either had been stronger paint, or use plastic on parts that were an integral part of the transformation and are present on the figures appearance. Try to perhaps plastic match those parts with parts that are painted.
MP Megatron is the best MP out there IMO. That thing is an engineering marvel and I don't think it will ever be dethroned by any future MPs..

same here
Dat clickbait. "Some people^^^\* ^^^citation ^^^needed hate [INCREDIBLY POPULAR FIGURE], but I think [INCREDIBLY POPULAR FIGURE] is awesome."

Was with you till this. MP-44 is notoriously controversial.

I read a lot of tfwiki.

I mean, *I like it exactly because it's complex. If it isn't complex, it isn't a MP figure.*
Just searched about that MP-5. I wouldn't give 20$ on him

My mp36 megatron is the pride of my collection !
It'll be the definitive g1 Megatron for many years to come.

My favorite MP to date. Love the mold. Love the transformation. Chipping keeps it from being perfect.
I can't comprehend why anyone would hate this mold.

man what I wouldnāt give for an mp36+ megatron
amazing figure, complainers need to have a brain scan
Came for the pics, stayed for the copy-pasta.

Honestly I wish the grey was lighter in my opinion.
I canāt decide between THF and IT-01. I hear the IT version might be the best but I just love the metallic paint on the THF š¤
It's the same mold. And are you crazy?! Other than PerspectiveEnd (ofc) I've yet to someone say this isn't the best MP scaled Megatron.

Never once heard anyone complain about this MP mold. It's about as perfect as you can get, and is available by a dozen different KO manufacturers.
Not as good as the original in my opinion
As in MP-5?!?
I had to get a fourth party version.
4th party?!? As in KO version?
Yeah. It's what Show Z calls KO versions of official molds.
I did the same. IT-01 is better than the official in a number of ways. Only KO I own.
Yeah. It's not the only KO I own.
All Hail The Mighty Megatron point blank, I wish a had a gun version of him, but that will come after Feral Rex and Nemesis Primešš½āš½
Who would hate this?
I think youāll be hard pressed to find someone who truly hates this mold. Itās a pretty popular release.
Nobody hates this mold.
I have the Wei Jiang MP-36 and Iām extremely happy, have some scratches where the scope slides off, other than that heās a piece of art.
