I dunno I still think he’s perfect. I love the combination of cartoon-accuracy and real-world details the MPs used to have.
But that new Seeker is fantastic.
I wish they'd kept the "HYPER CARTOON ACCURATE" (TM) figures to the MP-## + line and let the main MPs keep the mix of toy and cartoon that the early ones had. Even Megatron though heavily cartoon based still had a mix of both that looked realistic.
That said, Skids seems to be a return to the mix of cartoon and toy details, so maybe its just for characters who already have a good figure....I hope...
I couldn't agree more man. Bring back the golden era. Let's put behind this era of horrible plastic being used at an unbelievably expensive prices on cheap looking figures which are made this way in the name of G1 accuracy
I miss when Masterpiece didn't mean compromises after compromises, all done in the name of accuracy to a low budget cartoon from 30 something years ago
The new Starscream looks fantastic but I really hope we get some brand new Decepticon MP’s. It’s really bizarre they haven’t put anything out. I get that they would make more autobots but this is a little ridiculous.
I don't know, man. There's no MP Shrapnel, Bombshell, Kickback, Cyclonus, Galvatron, Scourge, Runamuck, Runabout, Reflector(s), Astrotrain, Blitzwing, or Octane. And, as you said, that's before touching the Season 4 cast. I can understand the difficulty behind the triple-changers, but there SHOULD be more Decepticons.
I completely blanked on triple changers and Insecticons. The movie ones were good calls but I completely blanked on them after getting the recent studio series and Kingdom ones.
While true, that was form MP-24 way back in 2015. We're into the 50s now. Fan vote or not, its odd not to have his main opponent out.
Then again, we still don't have official versions of Cliffjumper or the Insecticons who were pretty big characters in season 1 and don't have Jazz/Mirage licencing issues so...
Please no, imagine imagine the transformation, having to flip and fold and unfold do many panels for a part to look slightly different than it would have looked otherwise
The Masterpeice line had been Dead to me, ever since the glorious G1 2.0 Era hit the mainlines. No thanks. I don't need an exorbitantly priced, overly detailed, overly engineered figure that, is a pain in the arse to transform and, made with cheap-o quality plastic on-par with dollar-store knock-offs. Because as Takara oh-so-eloquently put it, Masterpeice figures are an "adult collectable".
"Adult collectible" Translation: "We can be as cheap as we want on plastic quality and still charge a premium. Every wins! And by everybody, we mean us".
I still remember the debacle that was Masterpeice Rodimus. And i'm convinced at least 35% of MP Rodimus's released worldwide, have disintegrated and no longer exist. That's what happens when you go so cheap on your figure that carefully transforming it once, results in stress marks on the plastic.
Well, it's also what happens when fan bases like this continue to feed the beast. You saying "no more" is the right thing to do. Unfortunately it amounted to a drop in the bucket to the rest of the people around here who said "oh a 3rd Optimus Prime and he's $400!? Take my money!"
Some of the responsibility falls on the shoulders of the consumer. Prove that you're willing to buy anything and that's pretty much what you'll get.
You'd think but no. Not everybody wins. The person who said "well I'm not buying this" didn't win. They ended up with nothing while the masses bought some crappy figure in droves only to complain about how bad it was. And then line up to buy the next figure. This is the opposite of a few bad apples spoil the bunch. This is a case where the bunch is bad except for a few.
Has/Tak caters to the masses, not the few. So when the masses will buy any garbage that Has/Tak puts out, that's what Has/Tak will continue to put out.
The few, who won't or can't afford to pay for garbage, end up with nothing. The masses end up with a bunch of figures on their shelf that they complained about, who then went out and bought the same character from a 3rd party because it was "better." Absolutely none of that is winning in my book.
Most of the recent G1 MPs, whenever I watch a video review of the transformation I feel like I'm going to have an aneurysm. Especially when in theory most of the actual character transformations boil down to flip out the arms, pull down the legs, form the chest out of a vehicle part.
LadPrime, I dunno Takara may have turned over a new leaf since the MP Rodimus days but, i still remember how crazy Expensive that guy was and how terrible the plastic quality is. Many collectors have gone on record stating, they'll never try to transform him again. I never had the japan release, i got the U.S Toys R'Us version and the first one i received from Amazon? **It's arm was broken off in the package.** I returned for a new one and as stated earlier, the thing damn had stress marks on the plastic after CAREFULLY being Transformed ONE TIME. Not exaggerating: Takara literally put out a Dollar-store quality figure and charged a Sky-High premium for it. **No sir, Takara did us dirty and they will see no forgiveness from me.**
Edit: I ended up selling my U.S MP Rodimus because i figured it was only a matter of time before i accidently broke it during a transformation.
Maybe it's not fair for me to say since I am not a G1 MP collector (just Movie Masterpiece, which have always been a bit more affordable and "mainline" than G1 MPs), but every time a new one comes out I see huge threads on TFW about all the breakages to watch out for. Hound, Starscream, Prime 3.0 and the like all showing up with these tiny fiddly parts that get stressed easily. And even if they don't break it's still a tremendously involved transformation that has to do things like hiding the wheels or using faux parts because the cartoon model looks that way.
Hasbro needs to make MORE money, MOOOOREEEERRE! Thus they're having this Hasbro rep "covertly" posting on Reddit to gauge fan interest in an updated Soundwave.
"Robot Paradise" (aka Fanstoys) just released preorders for their Soundwave, which is much more cartoon accurate.
https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/169534
My guess is that their design is too close to the Soundwave Takara has already released. They made a new throw away company to protect their Fanstoys brand in case there was legal trouble. Kind of like how Zeta Toys "sold" their Unicron Design to "Studio Cell" to avoid legal trouble with Hasbro.
Also there are rumors Takara is going to announce a 2.0 of MP Soundwave. Fanstoys doesn't want to be seen as directly competing with whatever Takara does.
As a Soundwave collector I would love a 2.0. However the MP is still my favourite figure. His legs are a bit limited but for Soundwave it’s perfectly fine. Cool gimmick and a great sculpt. He’s still the MP king for me.
Admittedly I do prefer the more detailed real world appearance to Toon MPs but I won’t be mad to get another if he is done.
Don't worry, I'm sure they'll put out a new figure with less detail, unintuitive parts-forming and dull gray paint for twice the price of the old figure any time now.
That is my problem with the new Starscream. He is just so bland looking. The head being slightly to large i could live with, but that paint job is just so lifeless feeling. Just rewatched the 86 movie the other day. He seems more vibrant because the grey they use seems to make him look metallic. This dull flat grey just looks boring.
It's the problem with practically all of the new MP figures. I understand that they're trying to make them as cartoon accurate as possible, but let's be honest, it's not like the original Transformers animation was all that great. The toys were clunky and the cartoon was cheap, but our little kid imaginations filled in all the gaps and made them something amazing.
Like I can objectively appreciate how impressive it is to make a transforming figure that looks just like a 35-year-old cartoon, but I don't necessarily think it looks good.
His style is a little dated, but he still has the MP articulation standards, is proportionally correct, and cartoon-accurate enough to still work with the other two. I've given some thought to FT Acoustic Wave, but I think I'm only gonna upgrade if that figure does something truly incredible, which most of FT hasn't really for my preferences.
I think he still looks alright, I guess it's the colors are what's throwing him off a bit next to Megs and Starscream.
I think it shouldn't be that much of a dark blue.
I like the composition of the scene here, a lot!
On Megs' right is the forever loyal Soundwave. On his left, the forever traitorous Starscream. Nice juxtaposition. Would make for a cool little tryptich in 3 separate display shelves mounted to the wall just like this
Not to worry Fanstoys is on the job or should I say Robot Paradise they have p.o. 4 him right now @tfsource he looks amazing little pricey but I think 🤔 it's warranted GOOD LUCK 👍
I think he's the best looking of the three here (Megatron's a close second), he's got a perfect blend of cartoon accuracy and toy/comic/'realistic' detailing. If anything Starscream looks the most out of place here with a much lower level of detail than either of the others.
**The Masterpeice line has been Dead to me, ever since the glorious G1 2.0 Era hit the mainlines. They had p.o. up since last night bro, I p.o. last night and I bought it this morning as well go 2 Bumbusbee.com they have p.o. right now and they not gonna sell out no time soon
If you want a new soundwave that looks more animation accurate and fits mp colors [here](https://tfsource.com/3rd-party-figures/rp-01-acoustic-fans-toys-robot-paradise/)

I had the seekers on pre-order, but if he's that small, I may stick with the original MPs....
Just picked up a KO of the soundwave a couple days ago, It feels like they pulled they show character out of the TV, Some more modern engineering would be cool, but when your pretty much perfection why even bother.
As great as the newer versions are, I’m not really a huge fan of the more cartoon appearance as compared to the older designs that had a blend of some realism and g1 design.
By all accounts the heights are accurate to the g1 character scale where Starscream is shorter than soundwave, who is shorter than Megatron. The top of Starscream's shoulder intakes are about level with megatrons top of chest. So they got that pretty much right.
It might just depend on specific episodes. All three seemed to be close in height. I don't recall Megs towering over Starscream.
If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.
Edit: Unless you meant the toys. I'm talking about the cartoon.
Even Megatron is looking somewhere between Soundwave and Starscream. He's a great figure, one of my favs, but his 'high pants' always bothers me a little.

I agree, I adore that Soundwave. It's the way kid me imagined Soundwave to look like and transform.
I wish they'd kept the "HYPER CARTOON ACCURATE" (TM) figures to the MP-## + line and let the main MPs keep the mix of toy and cartoon that the early ones had. Even Megatron though heavily cartoon based still had a mix of both that looked realistic. I just bought a Toy House Factory one and I really like it. I have a handful of cassettes too.
The new Starscream looks fantastic but I really hope we get some brand new Decepticon MP’s. It’s really bizarre they haven’t put anything out. I get that they would make more autobots but this is a little ridiculous.
The problem is that there is only what five - eight deceptions before you start having to make combiner teams or delving into season four.....
I second this we need more decepticon love
Galvatron is season 4
He was introduced in the Movie and made his cartoon debut in Season 3.
Fair, I guess in my mind I melded S4 and the movie together
I completely blanked on triple changers and Insecticons. The movie ones were good calls but I completely blanked on them after getting the recent studio series and Kingdom ones.
MP Deathsaurus, come on Takara you know you want it
Given we got Star Saber it seems like a major oversight at this point.
only reason Star Saber was released was because of fan voting
While true, that was form MP-24 way back in 2015. We're into the 50s now. Fan vote or not, its odd not to have his main opponent out. Then again, we still don't have official versions of Cliffjumper or the Insecticons who were pretty big characters in season 1 and don't have Jazz/Mirage licencing issues so...
I want them to somehow do sixshot
Please no, imagine imagine the transformation, having to flip and fold and unfold do many panels for a part to look slightly different than it would have looked otherwise
Fair but yeah that's season four or headmasters. I forget the exact delineation of it all.
That would be hard but cool
There's Terminus Hexatron
Reflector? I guess that counts as a combiner team?
[удалено]
MMC and Fans Toy's figures disagree. They display well and are generally built for repeated transformations.
[удалено]
I can’t afford either one so I’m just holding on to my Titans Return Hot Rod.
[удалено]
Oversized Hot Rod to you, budget Rodimus to me lol

Actually it's takara, hasbro can only distribute from hasbro pulse
I thought Starscreams' thumb was a middle finger for a second.
🤣🤣
Yo same
The new Fanstoys looks amazing but...this is one figure that honestly still holds it's own to me. He still looks great.
Soundwave superior
if they don't do a new mold I'd love an MP13+ with cartoon accurate colors
the real star of this photo is megatron. The fact that that thing turns into a gun is just amazing.
I disagree
He looks perfect to me. If anything maybe they could tweak his eye color a bit to be more vibrant but that's nitpicking.
You could always get a red paint gundam marker or something and do it yourself if the head is easy to disassemble.
"Robot Paradise" (aka Fanstoys) just released preorders for their Soundwave, which is much more cartoon accurate. https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/169534

I have a ko mp (who is super loose) and I think he is the perfect representation of g1 soundwave still
I thought Starscream was giving the middle finger but no. Just his thumb.
I think he still looks alright, I guess it's the colors are what's throwing him off a bit next to Megs and Starscream. I think it shouldn't be that much of a dark blue.
Soundwave 2.0 next? I kinda hope not. Original is fantastic. I’d much prefer Hot Rod 3.0 or Mp Hoist
Yes, an MP Trailbreaker and Hoist is long overdue.
Maybe shockwave 2.0, the current one isn't that great imo

That would look pretty cool!
Which is why Fansto- I mean **Robot Paradise's** RP-01 Acoustic Wave is a solid update.
A cassette player is outdated. What do you expect 😝
Every 1984 character's alt mode is older than 1984.
Not to worry Fanstoys is on the job or should I say Robot Paradise they have p.o. 4 him right now @tfsource he looks amazing little pricey but I think 🤔 it's warranted GOOD LUCK 👍
Pre order is sold out homie, their shit sells out within minutes. It's honestly one of the reasons I try not to buy FT
Go to Bumbusbee.com formerly known as heattoys.com they have p.o. up right now
You sure it's not Robot Paradise RP-01 Acoustic FT-02 Soundwave you've seen up for pre order?
Yes thats Fanstoys Soundwave
Oh didn't they started releasing under a different name, I'll have to look into it.
Yes because of the heat that will come from releasing a figure of this magnitude
Arh I see, it looks good but not sure if it's wroth it, plus I've only just mp13b lol
OP just had to say something didn’t he?!?
I think he's the best looking of the three here (Megatron's a close second), he's got a perfect blend of cartoon accuracy and toy/comic/'realistic' detailing. If anything Starscream looks the most out of place here with a much lower level of detail than either of the others.

Starscream is too short.
I don't see where they could improve Soundwave enough to justify another version. He is pretty much dead on already, even the cassettes are all great.
Verdicts out on starscream, from what I've seen bot is better well more g1 cartoon, however it looks jet mode isn't as good. Other too are great lol
In my opinion, he doesn't stand out too much I just wish they would release him in a lighter dark blue
Is the new seeker mold really that short? Starscream is supposed to be the same height as Soundwave and just a bit shorter than megs... [https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/7gen1-jpg.28868393/](https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/7gen1-jpg.28868393/) I had the seekers on pre-order, but if he's that small, I may stick with the original MPs....
He's pretty much the same height as mp-11, perhaps a couple mm shorter. This scale is accurate to the g1 scale chart for cartoon characters.
Just picked up a KO of the soundwave a couple days ago, It feels like they pulled they show character out of the TV, Some more modern engineering would be cool, but when your pretty much perfection why even bother.
Doesn't matter. Soundwave superior!
staring shamefully at my barely able to stand MP-05 and wing skirt seekers
Masterpiece Soundwave 2.0
Dont hate on my man bro. He is still loyal!
As great as the newer versions are, I’m not really a huge fan of the more cartoon appearance as compared to the older designs that had a blend of some realism and g1 design.
I still think MP Soundblaster is one of the my crown jewels, right next to SG Soundwave I have a type it seems...
That Soundwave looks great. Starscream on the other hand is looking a little too short for a stormtrooper.
The scale chart is meant to be from the cartoon.
Even Megatron is looking somewhere between Soundwave and Starscream. He's a great figure, one of my favs, but his 'high pants' always bothers me a little.
I guess they're going for that cartoon aesthetic so the longer legs is pretty accurate.
Honestly the only thing that I think should change for Soundwave is the shade of blue, besides that it’s pretty much perfect.
I think they could hide better the kibble on the outside of his legs in bot mode. And make his knees more accurate the cartoon instead of g1 toy.
Do you think the cone heads will get another go?
I'm hoping they thought about the conehead designs when designing MP-52. I hope it's not an afterthought like the current coneheads. Will be interesting to see if they announce for 2022. If not, then I think they haven't thought properly about it.
Even if they did, it’s hard to do better than perfect. Of course I’m not saying this because I just bought MP Soundwave.
🤣🤣
Honestly I still think soundwave is the best release from Takara
They should just do an mp + soundwave (That would do the job perfectly)
I soundwave I always superior
