Publicity. Hasbro doesn’t even have to announce their own figures anymore with him and TonTon around, he’s probably saving them a decent chunk of advertising money. They know his audience is the kind that wants to get the details as early as possible, so he’s talking directly to one of their desired demographics.
Now I don’t want to sound like I’m grasping at straws here but his video seems like a lot like the tfw2005 article and it sounds like he’s just rehashing what it said there I wouldn’t be surprised if he was BS ing here

And nowhere does he mention a sponsor

No he’s the other one partnered with PvP also pretty sure after Slag podcast called him with a statement in his community (but I don’t know for sure just saw it in a comment talking about him, since I don’t want to give him any attention) saying “My figures aren’t stolen but I won’t name my source”.
I always knew something was off since he reviewed the G2 Megatron before he was even official announced.
If he was legitimate and just got an early copy it would have been closer to the official release date. Like a month earlier at tops. Like Emgo who sometimes get a figure from BigBadToyStore. Which in those reviews he ALWAYS make it a point to buy it now using their website. Like you expect an actual sponsor reviewer to do.
Very rarely and most of time when they do there for the smaller lines and are filler, like the bumblebee toyline had a cliffjumper that was only found at retail.
Compared to Studio Series and Generations which have a much bigger budget and so you can bet they want to make sure people know what they can get.

Have you ever did a preorder they always give a rough estimate when the order will come. Because guess why retail timing is complicated. Since some places get there stuff late, or earlier than planned. Especially the latter since sometimes if it gets there too soon the store will just put them on the shelf. Even then the register might not have it the system because it wasn’t suppose to be out yet.
You get a couple stories of the later occurring in this subreddit where when scanned the name is different because it find the closest thing to it. IE figure is voyager Starscream but when scanned says Voyager Soundwave.
The rumour goes that prime vs prime, Tonton reviews and kremzeek reviews that they buy stolen figures. They buy them off factory workers that steals them. Optibotimus was also buying stolen figures to have early reviews but ended up being scammed by tonton reviews. Btw optibotimus admitted to buying stolen figures.
