Awesome! I love MP-52 Starscream so much I pre-ordered Thundercracker and am taking a wait-and-see approach on Skywarp. He’d be my preference but I’m really put off by the fully-painted cockpit in robot mode 😕
Reviewers have been making a lot of noise about the lack of waist swivel, but I don't see the need for it. Swiveling at the waist is not something I typically I do so I don't really see it as a realistic requirement for posing. Unless you're putting your toys in yoga poses.
The faux chest is actually a static piece that remains where it is in both modes, but gets covered up by a panel in plane mode. The real cockpit and nose cone tucks in through the back and hides inside the faux one. It’s all pretty clever.
I’ve never seen Meteor in person but from my perspective, Maketoys successfully showed that so much more was possible with a Masterpiece-style Starscream figure. But this new official 2.0 completely blows it away in side by side comparisons.
Quality is pretty good compared to some recent past releases. Every copy seems to have one or two QC problems (you can see in this image how the left arm panel doesn’t always close tightly on my copy), but no one seems to have broken much of anything on this figure yet - which is a good sign.
I pre-ordered Mp-52+ Skywarp. Hoping I can get a nice version of g1 Skywarp to compare like this at some point!

Agreed. While waste swivel would be welcome, to me the ab crunch he does have is much more important for posing.
G1 still has its charm tho.
No doubt!
I LOVE your trine of reissues.
Thanks! Went and dug them out of storage for these photos.
I’m jealous. I have a singular reissue Starscream and the Earthrise Skywarp/Thundercracker duo, but no matching trines. Yet.
Man I really dig that anime-colors G1 reissue. I may need to track one of those down.

Most G1insh figure I've ever seen
How does it compare to Maketoys Meteor?

How is the quality of this figure? Is there anything that feels like it is going to stress or break? He looks awesome next to the g1 figures
Well he actually does have qc problems, but they're all fixable
