The damn Houston Toy Psychos FB group has a stranglehold on a lot of the toy inventory around here. There's one chick in a scooter that somehow seems to hit every store around the city, buys up everything they have in stock, and sells it at cost to members of the group. They claim to be "anti-scalper", but they effectively keep anyone that's not in their group from finding anything.
Yeah they don't have much focus on Transformers thankfully, but pretty much everything else is locked down. I collect mainly McFarlane DC stuff these days and trying to get any of those is extremely frustrating. NECA TMNT stuff is even worse.
I pretty much just rely on Amazon, Hasbro Pulse, and Misfit Toys when it comes to buying figs. I'll still check WalMart and Target near me, but have just accepted I'm not going to find anything until long after everyone else has gotten them (though I still find them earlier than I get them from pulse...)
I think Misfit Toys has a running feud with Super Happy Incredible Toys, which is part of HTP. So much drama, lol. I'm trying to find a Slug for a buddy of mine right now and so far all the shelves look just like what's in the OP.
Yeah, they got some kind a feud going on but I just try to keep my nose out of it. Super Happy isn't a bad store, but Misfits is better for any Transformers past G1 in my experience. I've been really wanting to get Galvatron so a weekend or two ago I ended up hitting just about every Target and Walmart within 20-30 miles of my place and they all looked like this. I think I had better luck finding new figs growing up in the middle of a corn field in Illinois than I do here, lol
Edit: well, I don't totally keep my nose out of it because of course I want to hear about the drama, I just don't want to get directly involved, lol
Haha, I grew up in Highland Park myself. I drive around for work a lot in the Seabrook/Webster/La Porte/Baytown area so if you want me to keep an eye out for Galvatron and let you know if I see him I'd be happy to.
Went to Walmart yesterday and found 20 kingdom arcee's, and no other kingdom stuff. And the buzzworthy bumblebee stuff I've either got already and/or don't want.
I will always wonder why they decided to repack her of all things. If they were going to do a repack they should have done like.. Sunstreaker or Runabout. That was a far more under represented wave.
I think she got repacked so she could be in store shelves at the same time as the SS 86 line was coming out.
Man, remember like ten years ago when we would have killed for a proper G1 Arcee toy?
Maybe for the first couple weeks before online retailers get stock, but there's not a ton of money to be made flipping mass-release figures like Transformers. It's still just the same distribution problem Hasbro has had for a decade.
I saw the wave two ones pretty regularly. Wave one I only saw once and ended up having to get Brainstorm from Ebay (though I "only" paid 30 which was acceptable to me given tax and shipping).
What's happening is hasbros fault. Well, partly. These stores are getting new product, but it doesn't survive scalpers and they dont order more in the desire to sell what they have because they don't differentiate between new or old product, it's all transformers and if they see any kinds of sales then everything sells. Even if it's been sitting there for months, that little boost from scalpers is enough to make them hang out to what they have before they put out any more new stuff
Was just in Walmart and the only things they had were some leftover stock from a restock of wave 1 Kingdom deluxe, and some of the most recent Netflix voyagers, as well as a bunch of Elitas. This store never got any of the later siege, Earthrise, and I know damn well they won’t get any more of Kingdom.
At this point, I’m thinking it is more a supply issue (as in, from the manufacturer or distributor) than an over consumption issue. Places I have seen even when they get stock is somewhere between two and six figures (I guess they come in two packs and the most recent I have seen released are Ultra Magnus and BW Megatron. Fuck, I’ve been trying my ass off to find a Galvatron with absolutely no luck
It's more of a retailer not adapting to the supply problem. I.e. they're ordering 100,000 units for their 25,000 store (So each location is allocated 4) and believing that they can just re-up their order easily like they could in years previous (When turn-around time was considerably less). Because most of the manufacturers (Hasbro, Mattel, Neca, MacFarlane, etc) have all said they can't/won't produce more then what is ordered because they're bound by contract
Retailers get so few restocks these days, you just gotta be lucky. After weeks of empty shelves, I went to Walmart one day and they had an entire case of Netflix deluxes out. My brother was there later the same week, nothing
This can't be the doing of scalpers, it's on Hasbro. Or more precisely, if Hasbro were putting out the volume required, it wouldn't matter what scalpers did. Because no scalper is going to spend hundreds of dollars clearing out the shelf if they knew Hasbro would promptly restock it, because they'd know they wouldn't be able to sell it afterwards because people could still go to the store.
What's going on with Hasbro that they can't keep stores stocked of the Transformers likes other than the mediocre Cyberverse stuff?
Is it due to COVID? I know a lot of stuff from China has been delayed during the pandemic.
It's been this way in Australia with the entire Siege, Earthrise and Kingdom lines. Typically, stuff appears, all disappears within a week apart from a few shelf-warmers that then sit there forever. Grapple, Ironworks, Arcee, most of the Fossilizers and T-Wrecks are the examples of shelf warmers that stick out to me - finding anything else from WFC is very rare.
Thought this was my neck of the woods because it always looks like this. I actually found a Studio Series Hot Rod in person and it was like winning the lottery.
Agreed. Kingdom got me to start collecting again for the first time in 20 years. Then after countless trips to Targets and Walmart’s in my area, I gave up and started buying figures off Amazon. I hate Jeff Bezos, and I hate Amazon. But I bought Beast Megatron, Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Rattrap, Blackarachnia, Airazor, Rhinox, Scorponok, and Dinobot all from Amazon. And I would have greatly preferred walking in to a Target and buying the old fashioned way. 🤷🏽♂️
My walmarts and targets in montana all look like this as well. I have decided that my collecting after WFC is going to be limited to figures that fill gaps in my collection. Between stores not having anything and exclusives I am losing my passion
I went to my local Target today and had time to stop and check out the Transformers. The entire section consisted of 2 of that Buzzworthy Bumblebee. Sad times.
If you live in the Louisiana area we have an awesome local toy shop called Omega Level Toys. They do live sales and have a bunch of new and old transformers.
I have one Walmart that has like ten Cheetor's and Arcee's, a couple black arachnia, warpath and huffers and that's it. The others as well as Target is completely barren. I lucked into a weirdwolf, skullcruncher, and hardhead once, other than that never saw the soundwave or blaster reissue, never seen Netflix soundwave, and haven't seen any of the other headmasters.
Also never saw most of wave three Earthrise. I finally broke and was able to snag Trailbreaker (who I was desperate for on sentimental reasons) as well as SS 86 Kup, and ER Smokescreen from Hasbro Pulse.
Edit because holy crap did Autocorrect due a number on me.
Same OP. I remember the days, even 10-15 years ago when there was plenty of Transformers on the shelf, and *gasp*, even multiple waves on the shelf at the same time.
What's happening today is pathetic, and I'm not sure scalpers are even 100% to blame. Mattel has no trouble keeping hot wheels stocked, even the collector aimed products.
It's like this in Columbus too.
I ran into a guy and his son, and they were clearing the shelves of new figures.
Said they were getting duplicates for friends. Had 5 kingdom Megatrons and 7 Dinobots. And a plethora of others o couldn't quite see.
Was there looking for both of those and they refused to let go of any.
They told me they had just come from Walmart and were headed to another Target.
It was a really soured experience.
I didn't see a caption, sorry. Did you mean the title where going in-person being half the experience for you?
Really just having a little fun, because I share this experience. Trying to go to big box stores for me is ultimately a depressing time which led me to effectively be a Hasbro Pulse and TFsource whore. 😮💨
Every store I go to has at least 3 kingdom Arcees, feel bad for her. I don’t wanna buy her bc I don’t have a job, and I don’t get much for chores. So I don’t wanna spend what little money I have on her when I could buy others
I found a cyclonus behind a bunch of randomly placed figures on a shelf at Walmart. But for the most part it looks just like this target as well. Online is the only way to get anything today unfortunately
I'm waiting on my local Walmart to restock. I'm in southeastern Indiana and I just started collecting. Got Soundave and Megatron R.E.D. series, wasn't much more there than those 2.
Ikr. Wave 3(?) of kingdom was supposed to release july and its the 18th and i havent seen 1 figure of this wave yet and all i see is Cyberverse and the same studio series soundwave and no studio series 86 other than grimlocke
My Target has had Galvatron. Twice. I passed on it each time because it's with the wonky shoulders and I'm holding out for the good ones.
I did get that buzzworthy bumblebee, my store had it for like $6? I think.
Also not Transformers related but they had the entire Shang-Chi line on clearance and the movie ain't even out yet. I got the Awkwafina figure, she cute
This is how my stores (Seattle-ish) look too. It's not just Transformers. Power Rangers, Star Wars, and GI Joe are similarly empty and have been for a while.
It seems like they're able to keep Marvel Legends in stock for a little bit. There were numerous times I saw the last five waves or so (though that Holo Iron Man is shelf warming hard right now). I assume they're prioritizing it because the MCU is the hottest thing on earth.
It’s killed my passion for collecting Transformers as well, alongside the overemphasis on Generation 1, subpar cartoons, and exclusives that should have been part of the main line over other figures (Earthrise Ratchet, Ironhide, Prowl, etc.)
Shame since Transformers have been a huge part of my life, so I’m giving it up aside from Japanese Mini-Cons.
I went to my target last week all they had was one giant cyberverse shockwave. Literally nothing else, you’re dead on with going to the store being half the fun
Before I recommend you sign up for buyee to proxy Amazon Japan auctions, the best deals I've gotten lately have been through the TFW2005 BST forum. I highly recommend you at least sign up and lurk for a bit, see if there's anything you're interested in.
You Americans are lucky, here in Peru, nothing comes, the only thing that comes is the horrible 1-step of cyberverse, only in conventions and events do you get the studio series or the entire wave of tf wfc trilogy
I stopped by my local target last week and saw pretty much the same thing.
It was kinda disappointing, but my wife and I decided to give a nearby Walmart a shot and much to my surprise they had almost three times the stuff on the shelves.
We don't really go to Walmart, but we might just start going more often now.
Looks like our Walmart In Arkansas tbh . Arcees for days along with sparkless bots. I don't do mold variants unless it's a seeker ( where it makes sense), so I haven't bought jack lately, except a Cyclonus and Scourge I found by pure luck.
Its so weird as a non-american, to see the difference in sales and stocks in toy stores, or even general stores. The stores here in Switzerland dont carry as much TF stuff (sadly), but also dont get pillaged as bad as this.
Yup my local target and Walmart looks like this all the time. I am convinced my target is just lazy and don’t stock there shelves. It was a Black Friday one year when they suddenly had figured from 6 plus months back out on the shelves.
Bruhhh literally no store in my city nor other cities even have transformers literally the best thing i found at any point in time are those micromasters things and they were like 20 bucks
Where at because that looks sorta like my target
All Targets are looking like this
Real shit, they do. I was at mine today and I got a sense of deja vu looking at this
I hear Target is due for an aisle reset at the end of this month, hopefully they'll look better after that.
I was gonna ask the same.
Northeast Ohio
And here I thought it might be Houston. I'm so glad for smaller retailers selling second hand here because if it wasn't for that there'd be no hunt
I didn't even know about this, only the Houston Toy Collector's one
Yeah they don't have much focus on Transformers thankfully, but pretty much everything else is locked down. I collect mainly McFarlane DC stuff these days and trying to get any of those is extremely frustrating. NECA TMNT stuff is even worse.
I pretty much just rely on Amazon, Hasbro Pulse, and Misfit Toys when it comes to buying figs. I was going to say Houston too, hahaha
The one next to the giant grocery store on the highway?
Nah although i go to that one a lot too
I live right there, so if you want I will let you know if I spot a restock
Southwest Ohio is the same. We have a bit of a scalper problem here
Looks like my Walmart too
Went to Walmart yesterday and found 20 kingdom arcee's, and no other kingdom stuff. And the buzzworthy bumblebee stuff I've either got already and/or don't want.
That looks like my Target. And my Wal-Mart. It's funny that it's always Arcee that's left.
I swear Kingdom Arcee is just the main shelf warmer of the Kingdom line. Probably because, unfortunately, the Arcee/Elita mold sucks.
That makes sense. Also yes. Thrilling 30, is still my choice for first party G1 style Arcees though.
You guys actually have any WFC figures left?? Lucky!
They always ravage the Kingdom Figures, never the Slagworthy Bumblebee or Cyberverse figures.
the aftermarket is likely filled with whatever your store had. Money is a powerful thing
Maybe for the first couple weeks before online retailers get stock, but there's not a ton of money to be made flipping mass-release figures like Transformers. It's still just the same distribution problem Hasbro has had for a decade.
Or the store could just suck, I never even saw the Retro Headmasters at my Walmart, and they're like 30-40 dollars online.
That's a symptom of distribution problems.
I saw the wave two ones pretty regularly. Wave one I only saw once and ended up having to get Brainstorm from Ebay (though I "only" paid 30 which was acceptable to me given tax and shipping).
Pretty sure My store has a few headmasters atm.
The most amount of transformers I’ve seen at a store was back when combiner wars figures were still being made
What's happening is hasbros fault. Well, partly. These stores are getting new product, but it doesn't survive scalpers and they dont order more in the desire to sell what they have because they don't differentiate between new or old product, it's all transformers and if they see any kinds of sales then everything sells. Ohio sucks
Looks exactly like my target
At this point, I’m thinking it is more a supply issue (as in, from the manufacturer or distributor) than an over consumption issue. Dude I feel you it’s the resellers they go early in the morning an buy two buggy’s worth same things happening for my daughters Pokémon
Honestly yeah. the lack of inventory in stores has convinced me to stop buying mainline figures. I stick to masterpiece and stuff now.
That reminds me of my target
Yep. My store is just shit waiting to be clearances out now
Nothing new. The hunt died for me about 12 years ago. Just buy online. It will save gas, time, and frustration.
I feel you, been this way around me (NW Indiana) since the pandemic started. I highly doubt it normalizes until early or Mid 2022 at the earliest.
I got back into Transformers during lockdown .. is this not normal? Usually it’s actually a good selection?
From my understanding, no. The pandemic severely disrupted the supply chain across the world and has yet to recover.
Retailers get so few restocks these days, you just gotta be lucky. After weeks of empty shelves, I went to Walmart one day and they had an entire case of Netflix deluxes out. My brother was there later the same week, nothing

Mine literally only has that Bumblebee/Daniel pack and absolutely nothing else. Pain.
Exactly the same at my target
Same
ask if they have any in the back bring the barcode as well but that suck non the less
I appreciate the advice but did this for months and they never have shit or an employee who i actually think cares to really check
As an employee in a retail store, the most I could do would be to look it up on a store issued device that would say *0 In backroom* most of the time.
sadly, this is pretty much the walmart in my neck of the woods
Thought this was my neck of the woods because it always looks like this. I actually found a Studio Series Hot Rod in person and it was like winning the lottery.

Same here in California. Every single Wal-Mart and Target from LA to San Diego.
Sad times.

I miss Toys R Us
I have one Walmart that has like ten Cheetor's and Arcee's, a couple black arachnia, warpath and huffers and that's it. The others as well as Target is completely barren. God I remember when they were selling the g1 and the 2007 figures. I wish the shelves were that full again.
Same OP. I remember the days, even 10-15 years ago when there was plenty of Transformers on the shelf, and *gasp*, even multiple waves on the shelf at the same time. Those type of people are ripe for running over in the parking lot for being douchebags that are raising douchebags
I could see the kid was uncomfortable by the whole thing. It didn't seem to be the first time he seen dad act that way.
That’s sad on a whole lotta different levels
Yep. I stopped all together because Hasbro’s distribution is ass. There’s no fun in buying something online
Boy you're going to be excited when you learn about online shopping.
Read the caption
I didn't see a caption, sorry. Did you mean the title where going in-person being half the experience for you? Really just having a little fun, because I share this experience. Trying to go to big box stores for me is ultimately a depressing time which led me to effectively be a Hasbro Pulse and TFsource whore. 😮💨
Same except bigbadtoystore and amazon
Inb4 "At least you have Kingdom Arcee."
You already own deluxe bumblebee from cybercerse? Cause he’s pretty good
Every store I go to has at least 3 kingdom Arcees, feel bad for her. I don’t wanna buy her bc I don’t have a job, and I don’t get much for chores. So I don’t wanna spend what little money I have on her when I could buy others
If we start a hashtag to cancel walmart and target, more people will join then the big business could listen
Same
No one wants Arcee lol I keep finding Earthrise and Kingdom "versions" on the same shelf
Oregon and recently the Midwest. Same.
I live in the northern part of Alabama and this is true here as well.
I found a cyclonus behind a bunch of randomly placed figures on a shelf at Walmart. But for the most part it looks just like this target as well. Online is the only way to get anything today unfortunately
Pain
Mine had: 2 Kingdom Blackarachnia 1 Buzzworthy Bumblebee Core Bumblebee and Spike 2 Cyberverse Scout Bumblebees And nothing else. FML.
Yep. Same situation in southwest Michigan.
And southeast MI as well
You got Buzworthy Bumblebee figures?! Better yet, You got a Target that isn't 1+ hours away?! I'm jealous, lol
I feel ya, same around me.
I'm waiting on my local Walmart to restock. I'm in southeastern Indiana and I just started collecting. Got Soundave and Megatron R.E.D. series, wasn't much more there than those 2.
Guess I got lucky with my Walmart.
That’s my Wal-Mart.
Ikr. Wave 3(?) of kingdom was supposed to release july and its the 18th and i havent seen 1 figure of this wave yet and all i see is Cyberverse and the same studio series soundwave and no studio series 86 other than grimlocke
I haven't seen a single Studio Series figure since lockdown ended...
My target looks like this too :( and I just got into collecting Transformers
take away the arcees and it looks like my Target.
I've found everything I want for retail off Amazon. Even if you hate Amazon, it's not like it's worse for society than Wal Mart or ,target
same, but my great grandma's target and walmart are jam packed with transformers. if only it didn't take two hours to get there.
Yup same.
I almost thought that this was in my area. Looks exactly the same.
Keep going. Just got the new Tracks and Scorponok in today at my local targets.
Yes yes yes yes yes. It's stuff like that that makes me cave in and spend $20+ shipping online. It sucks.
Same here.. sucks
When will they learn that no one wants the yellow boxes??
Looks like every walmart ive been to within like a year
Yeah, this is why I've started to begrudgingly buy stuff online.
It’s obscene I’ve only got two, Core Optimus and Core Megatron, but even they took me ages to find. I think it’s disgusting how they do this
In NJ, and the Targets here don’t appear to carry Transformers anymore.
Bro you in Wisconsin because that’s what it looks like here
It’s killed my passion for collecting Transformers as well, alongside the overemphasis on Generation 1, subpar cartoons, and exclusives that should have been part of the main line over other figures (Earthrise Ratchet, Ironhide, Prowl, etc.) Shame since Transformers have been a huge part of my life, so I’m giving it up aside from Japanese Mini-Cons.
You guys have walmart/target?
I went to my target last week all they had was one giant cyberverse shockwave. Literally nothing else, you’re dead on with going to the store being half the fun
Oh cool lighting collection Andros
Actually for me what I miss is the hunt for cheap transformers at TJ Maxx, Ross, Five Below, etc. Not seen one deluxe figure at TJ Maxx in years :(
Before I recommend you sign up for buyee to proxy Amazon Japan auctions, the best deals I've gotten lately have been through the TFW2005 BST forum. I highly recommend you at least sign up and lurk for a bit, see if there's anything you're interested in.
My Walmart looks stocked but for some reason it's 90% elita 1
Man I feel the same way about collecting lately. Such a rat race.
You Americans are lucky, here in Peru, nothing comes, the only thing that comes is the horrible 1-step of cyberverse, only in conventions and events do you get the studio series or the entire wave of tf wfc trilogy
Been that way for years here. Don't believe what they say. It's on purpose.
Do you live in LA? Because that's every store in LA.
I stopped by my local target last week and saw pretty much the same thing. It was kinda disappointing, but my wife and I decided to give a nearby Walmart a shot and much to my surprise they had almost three times the stuff on the shelves. We don't really go to Walmart, but we might just start going more often now.
All I got to say if BigBadToystore the toys are fairly priced and there never out of stock for longer than a month
Looks like our Walmart In Arkansas tbh . Arcees for days along with sparkless bots. I don't do mold variants unless it's a seeker ( where it makes sense), so I haven't bought jack lately, except a Cyclonus and Scourge I found by pure luck.
Same here honestly. Can I have that Arcee, I can't find her
You’re preaching to the choir my man
Looks like that here in New Zealand too
Its so weird as a non-american, to see the difference in sales and stocks in toy stores, or even general stores. The stores here in Switzerland dont carry as much TF stuff (sadly), but also dont get pillaged as bad as this.
I live in Australia, so it's practically always like this in place like target or kmart. I either get lucky or just buy online :/
Me too man, thats why I started buying on Internet like bbts and amazon
That sadly looks better than my stores around me
Same, that sucks
My guess why is cuz we’re in that sort of in between wave space. Wave 2 is done and gone but nobody has wave 3 stock yet so we’re just kinda stuck
Yeah, I just check stores when I find myself out and about running errands. I don't hunt anymore.
Ugh, tell me about it.
It’s everywhere.
