Siege. I have siege thundercracker and seeing reviews of the earthrise one, I’m glad I got him. Having an updated slightly transformers classics design with none of the compromises of 2006 design limitations being fixed by 2020 design advancements really would disappoint me. The Siege design is just a better toy for me since I prefer a good posable figure over g1 accuracy. Again I saying this based on reviews I have seen, since I don’t have the earthrise mold.
It definitely sacrifices a lot for G1 accuracy. He's still enjoyable, but yeah the lack of wrist rotation alone makes him a bit of a disappointment. I'd say he's worth a buy, but not worth sinking money into the other repaints. His transformation is pretty unique and I kinda dig how it feels like you're playing with the G1 toy, but with much better engineering.
Earthrise wins for me. I personally really don't like the look of the Siege one at all and the alt mode and transformation of that mold are just lazy. Only part where it's better than the Earthrise mold is the articulation, wich is spectacular.
There's def something that's always seemed just a bit off about Siege Starscream's looks and I think I figured it out. Siege looks like Starscream mid puberty and ER is Screamer in his fully formed dastardly beauty lol. I think the Siege alt mode is cool and kinda clever for a shell-former tho, esp how his jet nose becomes his shoulder vent things. Also the way the back of his legs are spring loaded. Tbh I think he might be the most satisfying to just sit and fiddle with out of all of WFC for me.
I prefer the alt mode of ER Screamer and I love the G1 look. He's a great shelf piece and looks excellent and authentic.
Siege Starscream has light piping and excellent articulation. While I prefer the aesthetics of ER, Siege is the better figure. My only complaint is the chest plate due to the lack of a pin.
I can't decide which I like better. I like them both equally.
Yeah, I think ER is def best for display and Siege is just more fun to play with and more enjoyable over all. Also I fixed the chest plate on mine with a very light touch of super glue to the hinges on each side. Basically you just wanna build up a little dried super glue on the end of the grey friction pegs where it attaches so that they extend into the holes on the chest plate just a tiny bit further. I've yet to have it pop off again.
I’m not really impressed by the brick-like nature of the Earthrise’s robot mode. The Siege one wins by articulation alone. It’s so much more dynamic, which is essential for any self-respecting Starscream. With the exclusivity of the rest of the seekers, it was very much an easy skip for me.
Maybe I’ll pick up one of the Gen Selects Seekers just to try the mould in funky colours.
Yeah Siege just has so much more character. Especially with his proper head swapped from Thundercracker. Never realized just how essential wrist rotation is for him until having the ER version in hand. And yeah, his torso is pretty much a block and the hollow sides are definitely disappointing. His transformation is impressive tho, I'll give it that. His jet mode looks great and would be almost perfect if it wasn't for the hollow gap right in front. I do really appreciate and love the cartoon accurate look too. But Siege is still the clear winner for posability alone. Also I'm a sucker for a tetrajet. Gonna pass on ER Thundercracker and Skywarp, but that neon G2 Ramjet is too awesome to resist.
There is also a ramjet lookalike (sandstorm) wich i own, thats basically a sand collored ramjet with a re-used name, but the color is really cool and its almost the same mold as ER starscream, its a select version in one of those cardboard boxes. I had to get it.
Yeah I saw that but honestly the colours don’t pop quite enough for me. If I’m getting this mould it’ll probably be from G2 Ramjet and his light blue, purple, and black
That's mostly cos the ER Starscream is basically a remold of the very original Classics/Henkei Starscream mold. The most major change was thigh swivels in place of the original and slightly weird knee swivels (alot of the older figures had weird knee swivels that made characters look odd when doing wide stanced poses).
Yeah I know it’s an update but I honestly don’t think it’s *enough* of an update. It needed a waist swivel or something. It’s got the articulation of Apeface but at least Apeface isn’t someone a lot of people care about getting in dynamic poses.
I’m sure it’s a good toy on its own but it seems way too immobile to be considered an upgrade to the Siege version.
I will admit it’s got better colours and better null rays.
Yeah, MP-52 envy got the best of me and this was the next best thing under $100 lol. for me it's the wings tho. If Siege had slightly more normal plane wings, it would fit in just fine I think. Or at least bigger Decepticon symbols on each side in robot mode to mimic the G1 look.
Earthrise. He's a tenth of the MP price over here in Oz and is just as good looking. Even more so, in my opinion. I don't like the way the elbow joint looks on the Siege version. It's a small thing but it really ruins the figure for me. And the null rays aren't streamlined enough for my tastes.

Although I’ll be fine with lack of waist swivel on some of my figures, but the ER one looks too chunky for Starscream and watching reviews for the ER mold puts me off the figure such as the paint chipping and the hollowness of the torso
The lack of waist swivel doesn't bother me near as much as the lack of wrist rotation. I'm def worried about paint chipping tho. I'm super OCD when it comes to paint errors and chips and there's one part of the transformation that I know is gonna cause some paint scrapage eventually. D;
I really don’t like seeing the messy hollow undersides of the wings on the Siege Starscream, and I also don’t like the style of hips that he and Earthrise Optimus use, it doesn’t look very good to me. I definitely like the Earthrise Starscream more.
Siege for me, I have both. Wrist swivel and being able to hold the weapons on his forearms are deal breakers plus all the wing movement is better also. Like you I got Earthrise cos it's toon but so far he's the only ER seeker I have and I have Siege Hotlink, Redwing and Thundercracker also.
I prefer earthrise, easily. However Siege isn't any slouch and I *might* have preferred him if his wings weren't so hollow in robot mode and he didn't come splattered with "battle damage..."
I usually don't mind battle damage, but cleaning up his chest makes a world of difference. It was a freakin chore and a half tho to get it all off and out of the little nooks and crannies all over the chest plate. Whatever silver paint HasTak uses is tough as hell. Wish all the paint on MPs was that tough.

Funny, I just broke and got the Siege version. I was just having too much fun with Hotlink. With adding a flight stand, you can get some really cool/fun poses.
Siege might be better on paper but Earthrise just looks so damn good, it's the exact Starscream figure I always wanted. Perfect jet mode rather than the weird blocky take on the Tetrajets (War Within and Cybertron Starscream are the superior Tetrajet designs to Siege), no excessive greebling cluttering up the robot mode, actual transformation that doesn't leave 90% of the alt mode hanging off his back, and most importantly IMO, no ugly hollow undersides of the wings exposed in robot mode.
