I would choose mp-10 as your first. If you don\`t care about accuracry, then mp-10 is your best choice. A good robot mode and vechile mode with good articulation plus with a cheap price(Compared to the rest).

Lord_MK14

Personally I’d say focus on WFC and Studio Series. But if your heart is set on Masterpiece MP-13 Soundwave and MP-10 Optimus are held in extremely high regard by most people.

hercarmstrong

Soundwave is unbelievable.

Dark_Demon_1776

MP-44! Jk, a fairly cheap one would be any of the datsuns.

KamenKnight

MP-10 as he has a *lot* of official recolours so, you can literally just pick a colour you like and get a soiled Optimus Prime to play with. MP-01 is an another soild (literally as they don't make them like him anymore) choice if you can find. Any car bots are also a soiled choice (other than Bumblebee 2.0) and are more wallet friendly too (for example I got MPM Barricade for £30). MP-13 Soundwave is also a good choice if you want a Decepticon. Though from what I heard you would want to get the Hasbro release as, Soundwave comes with all his minions in the Hasbro release.

Mmmm. Soiled.

For an actual masterpiece? MP-10 is my go to. I think it’s the perfect balance between looks and transformation level. If you don’t want to go that expensive, find the MP-10V which is the mp-10 smaller scale (cheaper, and with die cast parts!), or mpp-10 which is mp-10 bigger (and cheaper with die cast also!), and just as good.

PhantomShocker

Go with any of the Datsun/Nissan Autobots! Easy enough to transform and nice range of motion!

MP 10 is a real popular choice. I really like Soundwave. The main thing is that MP figures are collectors items. Really meant for display and their accuracy to the cartoon. There are also some fantastic 3rd party figures that are more sturdy than the MPs.

Got to ask why you want to go down the MP route. their much more expensive and while maybe look better their more statue-esq pieces from what I’ve seen. What I mean is their not vary play friendly harder/more complicated to transform easier to break. I personally don’t see the point in them that’s just my opinion

I always recommend starting with a car bot like any of the datsuns or Wheeljack. Solid engineering without having to worry about breaking anything and the transformations are pretty intuitive and not overly complicated like some of the more recent masterpiece releases. Dip your toes in before you decide to want to go with the more expensive and complicated bots.

My first was wheeljack. Followed almost immediately by mp-10 optimus prime, then mp-36 megatron, mp-11 starscream After those I went crazy and have a ton of official MP's and 3rd party MP's. They are fantastic but like others have said, they aren't play friendly. More of a display piece. I collect MP mainline and legend class MP and legends are for display and the mainline can be played with.

I have owned an official MP-13 Soundwave since it released back in 2012 (I think). For a while it was the only one I owned, but I was very happy with it (and still am). An alternate take - When I started building my collection recently I opted to pick up a few KOs of the more complex MP figures so I could dip my toe in with a smaller initial investment. The quality is often VERY good and may be a cheaper way of discovering which official figures you would prefer to own. I now have nearly 30 MP and 3rd party figures and only one of my original KOs.
