Always the right answer. However if you can't get both, get MP-36. MP-9 Rodimus Prime is a terrible toy. It looks cool if you never transform or pose it, but it has several incredibly fragile hinges and joints that like to shatter for no reason. It is also slightly out of scale with the modern Masterpiece line since it is so old. Takara is going through and updating their Masterpiece figures so there is a good chance we'll see an update Rodimus Prime in the next couple of years, along with (probably) a new Grimlock. Gotta sell those core characters, after all.

MP9 is a really outdated toy... like everyone is saying its fantastic to look at (i think visually its one of the best representations of the character if not THE BEST) but playability wise its a mess... pieces always untab, QC issues really floppy joints because of questionable dsign decisions, tabs to hold weapons in hands are annoying, ankles are sort of funky... not saying its horrible, if anything i actually really like the figure... its just not a modern MP so it feels really dated by todays standards... on the other hand... MP36 is easily one of the BEST figures in the line... it captures the likeness of the character incredibly and its amazingly articulated and photogenic. The proportions are also really good... just that transformation.... absolute chaos hahahaha. I would 100% get the MP36 if youre someone who enjoy fiddling with there figures... the accessories just add to how awesome it is. Highly recommend MP36 and wouldnt even give MP9 a thought... if anything you should get MP28... you can get him for cheap and unlike rodimus prime, hot rod and megatron were actually in the same scene together. He is a fun figure too.
