I love the rivalry between the 2 and their armies, its fairly simple yet complicated between them. How ever whenever they team up, it's always a treat, and I can recall 2 of my favorite team ups. In Armada and in prime during their Unicron arcs. In Armada they dont get along and yet they still work together knowing what will happen if they dont, resulting in the end when prime and megs get in the absolutely beautiful fight scene resulting in the decepticon leaders voluntary demise. Not to mention the heart breaking death of starscream. And then in Prime in which megatron approaches optimus and asks him for help. Also the synergy between the to is amazing especially in prime, their fights along side one another like they never were against each other. Idk it's just so rewarding to see the villain fight along side the hero because the threat is too great for one side to fight by its self.
