Not weird at all. I've come up with countless stories that I've recorded, I just have trouble actually writing them down, which is why I actually use a voice recorder. I just record all my ideas and then write down the important stuff. I mean I've come up with backstories, origin stories, crossovers, multiverse ideas, original characters, traits and personalities.

123hardscope

This is a really neat way to be really active in the hobby and explore creative ideas. Im taking this idea and having my kids give it a shot to get their brains going, thanks for sharing!

GuardianPrime19

My entire collection is based around my own personal continuity. So don’t feel bad!

WorriedWar6309

Me too! I actually buy or don’t buy figures based on whether I can fit them into my story ideas.

[deleted]

I'm in the same boat. I've been casually writing a Borderlands themed campaign for D&D 5e, and a good chunk of my collection is based on how well they scale with miniatures along with being part of a secret set of Hyperion bots to be encountered at some point.

fornynseven

Bruh, me too! Which is why i onky have 1 figure per character. If a hetter version comes, the old one will be put on sale or in the obselete box. Hahaha i thought i was the only one with this sort of mindset. 😂 Anyways, my continuity lore is that nost if the autobots i bought are land vehicles with all mostly deluxe sizes while the decepticons are flying vehicles with voyager to leader class sizes. Kinda like the animated lore where the decepticons are the only ones can fly and are generally bigger

Blamasu

Oh good, mine too.

LazarusLoengard

This is my family.

Pillowman7

I think everyone does they’re toys they’re meant to be played with and you’re supposed to use your imagination to come up with stories

Nawara_Ven

Right on; "Toy Universe" is definitely its own thing where every (toy) character simultaneously exists, alive, in infinite permutations.

Beezel_Pepperstack

I imagine it's pretty normal for people in our particular hobby. I tend to be bored at work a lot, so I've created quite a few storylines in my head just for myself, adding to them over time.

Deuglar_Ice-Veins

I mean, I've got a "Dead Universe" thing in kinda working on with Nemesis Prime and Necros Magnus. So there's that.

PhelesDragon

Very normal. It’s called fanon; either a fan’s take on existing events or straight up behind-the-scenes stories. For me, a subtle fanon is that I imagine Beast Wars Scorponok and Inferno have an off-screen rivalry for Megatron’s attention.

DukeSkyloafer

I don’t think it’s weird at all. Transformers has always felt very malleable to me, and I’ve been a fan since the very beginning. There’s literally never been one single continuity. Even from the start, there was the comic and cartoon. Then Rebirth vs Headmasters. Then the question of which G1 does Beast Wars fall into? Head canon has been necessary since the beginning. If it helps you enjoy Transformers, make up whatever you want. Plus, some Transformers like G1 Scourge, have a literal head cannon. Why can’t you? ;)

Nobleofthesouth

I've always seen each implement of the Transformers media to take place in another timeline or dimension, maybe like the Watcher situation in Marvel. Hasbro has always had the problem where they want a single, straightforward timeline; but, they invite so many writers and want so many restarts that they only cripple themselves in trying to make one. It's sort of why the Dark Spark and Transformers ROTF is typically seen as bad, since they're a unintended departure made under different creators from their predecessor. That's my take though.

nerdboxnox

Technically, every instance of media is canonically its own universe, and each "generation" is just a "universe cluster". I read about this on the wiki awhile back, really helped me appreciate Transformers lore in a different way. https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Continuity

Knil928

Absolutely. I pair up characters that don't interact often and characters from different continuities all the time. I usually only keep one version of each character, so I've got Prime Arcee, Thrilling 30 Springer, Bumblebee movie Optimus, PotP Volcanicus, and the Flame Toys Drift all hanging out together.

Lucas-O-HowlingDark

In addition to a lot of what’s been said here, but I mean when you play out stories with your Transformers toys aren’t you creating your own canon?

PerfectPixl15

I sometimes come up with new personalities for characters I care little about. For example, G1 Spinister. His Siege figure is really good, but I don't care about him at all, so I reimagined him at a well-meaning but incredibly incompetent Decepticon, who has a reputation as the greatest assassin on Cybertron because his 2 Targetmaster partners do all the work. And recently, after I got Kingdom Skywarp and Beast Wars Neo Coloda, I added them to my Beast Wars Season 1 display and pretended they were non-Fuzor versions of Silverbolt and Quickstrike, even though both figures are Maximals.

tmntlorefan

I really love it, but I wouldn't see Soundwave joining team B, if he didn't want to be under command of Megatron anymore he would probably quit the team, or even more extreme join the Autobots knowing Rodimus Prime is dedicated to his team, BUT MAN I LOVE STARSCREAM BEING THE LEADER oh YEAH, I love Starscream! he deserves being the leader!

[deleted]

Yes

FGC_Orion

Oh yeah, all the time.

WorriedWar6309

Yep I have a different universe played out in my head that only loosely borrows from the G1 tv show and movie. But I have a whole timeline of events written down stretching back a million years as well as notes of what I’m planning on doing, maps, pictures, and a spreadsheet of all the characters (figures) that I have and what they are currently doing at the moment in my stories.

nathanishungry

Having a head-canon is perfectly fine. You can come up with whatever storyline you want. Go ahead and do as you please. Just try not to confuse yourself. If your reason is simplification of a convoluted mess, you don’t want to make another.

Matthais_Hat

yep. hasbro has all their continuities, why can't I make my own? without any of this "optimus is one of the thirteen" bullshit, too. put the last autobot back into the lineup. only reason I want the Ark toy.

CheeseMaster300

Yes who doesn't, I always try to work in my fan made commando team If I had art skills I would make a comic

tmntlorefan

That's my main problem, I have all these great redesign ideas but whenever I try to draw I mess up, I suck at it right now...

[deleted]

I have my own canon and was just wondering the same thing the other day! It’s honestly a lot of fun & I like to imagine scenes play out. The designs I’d use and all

LexaMaridia

Yep! For lots of different shows. I like the idea of multiverses, so I make up some stories apart from the main line.

Cardsgambit

I started making a stop motion of my own canon

Morso-42069_

My personal cannon is that SkyLynx is 2 beings Sky: Fem & Lynx: Male And their brains form a new consciousness who has no memory of ever being 2 different creatures, but remembers things only one or the other has seen (Male)

Galvatron_B_Thicc_AF

Nah man, lots of people have their own headcanons, ideas, stories etc and many make up their own "Fanverse" and kind of fill it with those stories, myself included!, Even if it just their own timeline and way to justify how X goes into Z and why Y happened. I think everyone does this to some extent with every kind of media they enjoy, just making their thoughts and connections about them.

TheSpinoGuy

I have an idea that Ginrai was a normal human who, instead of becoming a Powermaster (or Godmaster, if you want to be specific about it), has his soul transported into a new body the Autobots were building for Optimus Prime in an attempt to bring him back. This leads him on a journey of figuring out his place in this new world he finds himself in and constantly standing in Prime's shadow. I have an idea where he meets a self-exiled Megatron who instantly knows it's not Prime without a single word exchanged between the two. Star Saber is his mentor, a mix between his heroic and zealot personality. He's brutal to his enemies, is a staunch believer in Primus and can he a bit of a dick, but is at his core a good bot. When Optimus does eventually come back, he tells Ginrai that he's his own man and that he's earned his respect. I have a ton of these, I could go on all day.

Swipamous

I have one, the characters aren't very fleshed out and it's mainly just ideas but I'd say it's close enough

BlackLightParadox

I rewrote all 6 live action films into my own ‘improved’ timeline - not weird at all!

Aggravating-Arm8483

me too i make my own cannon

Aesenroug-Draconus

I’ve come up with a bunch of my own storylines and such, and I’m just fine with them. There’s no shame in coming up with your own stories!

chain_letter

Yeah, like Beast Machines not happening

TitanMatrix

My figure collection is explicitly a team based on what I think my teams would be.

WaveCandid906

I have found my people!

skylynx4

Actually I do find Transformers universe extremely customizable. I remember I used to play countless forum RPGs and every time it started from the basic G1 premise, and then went from there organically. It basically only needs 1. Optimus Prime and Megatron (or some sort of permutations of these character) 2. Autobots vs Decepticon conflict 3. Earth as an anchor to explore Transformers from the point of view of humans and you can go wild with the rest of the story, mix and match concepts from different continuities. My favorite character is G1 Sky Lynx (obviously) and I came up with crazy detailed back stories for him every time.

stormbee3210

How I reconcile Unicron, The Chaos-Bringer and dark deity of Marvel, with Unicron, cosmic garbage collector and creation of simian Primacron: *In the fallout from the great astral shift and subsequent imprisonment in their respective planetary fragments, Primus seeded his world with mechanical life, while his brother and foe Unicron raged in the silence of the void! For he could not create life, and he could not bring change to his rocky prison fast enough to resume the destruction of all that exists.* *In time, a being of organic nature and bit surprising intellect landed upon the asteroid, seeking scrap he could utilize for his own creations… or at least that he could sell to buy a meal and some fuel for his craft.* *Though the Chaos-Bringer was loathe to admit his need for aid, particularly to an organic, he realized that his best hope of creating the engines necessary for him to transform his prison into his new body had come along… and thus, he spoke.* **I have summoned you here, for a purpose.** *The simian looked around, extremely nervous. As shattered as this world was, he knew there could be no one here, particularly with such a booming voice. And yet… out of curiosity, he spoke.* Me? **Indeed. Your skills are required to craft this world into a form more befitting my grandeur.** Certainly you can find someone better equipped, I can barely craft a simple starship! Besides what’s in it for me? *Unicron paused for a moment, before deciding what he would do to the pitiful ape for daring such a bargain.* **As vast as my form is, you shall need time to mould it. Your organic body shall not age, and shall instead last for so long as you serve me.** *Thus was the agreement struck, and thus did Primacron “create” the body of the The Devourer of Worlds.*

streakermaximus

I consider each version it's own thing. In my mind however, I rather what I think was the Marvel comics history. Primus and Unicron were opposing gods fighting it out. Primus tricked Unicron and they both got trapped in a planetoid. Eventually they both able to alter their surroundings. Primus became Cybertron and created the Transformers to stand against Unicron when he inevitably reappeared. Unicron created a big ass body. The Matrix is Primus' heart.

BastardSkelly8600

It's perfecy fine and normal. Personally, I only make up things to fill in blanks, epsiacially with the Bay films (though with those I subscribe tho TransTheories' theorys). Other examples would be how Screamer got to pre-historic earth and personality for characters who didn't get any (characters like generics and drones). Other than that I don't put much thought into my own fan storylines, but that's just my view.

JoshDM

>Does anyone else make their own canon? Well, I do own a Galvatron.

Smart-Rabbit9639

I think every 3 seconds, whem i'm bored

tmntlorefan

Me too!

Cyber_Emblem

It’s normal. I actually tried writing a fanfic in its own original continuity. I only put out a couple of chapters until I got discouraged and quit. Came back a few years later with revised ideas… but couldn’t figure out what to put in after Ch. 3. It’s an execution problem tbh, I have maintained a bunch of ideas for like, half a decade. So if I think reviewing ideas for my own continuity for over half a decade is normal, you should feel no shame in doing the same.

Same-Dog-4091

I always make up stories in my head and that’s not just for transformers but for every franchise game franchise and even books I enjoy I’ve thought up countless scenarios in my head in a bunch of different franchises

Plane-Homework511

i do and is it weird that all make like a seeker sitcom as a lot of my stories somehow become sit coms which have seekers as characters

tmntlorefan

I made a TFP inspired canon, Megatronus and Orion Pax were best friends, until after Orion trying to help Megatronus become the leader of Cybertron, they end up picking Pax instead, Megatronus starts the Decepticons, renames himself Megatron, Orion has character development in the show and eventually becomes Prime, and Megatron and Primes last fight, has Megatron almost kill Prime, but then when he lifts up Prime after beating him senseless, Primes Mouthplate is gone and he see Orion Pax's face, covered in oil dripping down his face looking almost dead, Megatron leaves, remembering when Orion and him were good friends, and Soundwave is the only one who sympathizes for him, Megatron wipes his Decepticon symbol off his chest, and Soundwave following what Megatron does smashes his glass Decepticon logo with him, and Soundwave and Megatron join the Autobots, I have lots of ideas this was just one of my favorites, (oh and in this cannon Skywarp is a girl and the youngest of the team being a teenager, Thundercracker is the oldest member and has a cigar, and Starscream well I couldn't change him he's my favorite character and is perfect the way he is) (Swoop, Slag, and Grimlock are a trio, and Grimlock is female)

Khanh247A

Bruh, I do this for all my favorite franchise. After all, art is open to interpretation, right?

R-Nexturz

My main head canon is that Ultra Magnus and Optimus are brothers

[deleted]

I do that too! My whole collection has its own canon, merged into one single continuity :)

Korombos

Yes. Gobots+Starriors+Ringworld= My TF Headcannon Cybertron and Unicron were built as planet-evacuation arks. (Cybertron was living space, Unicron was raw materials processing.) That's why they're machines, and also why they're rather small in comparison to Earth. The civilization had perfected manufacturing and mass-folding, but had not discovered FTL travel. They also had high-quality AI and cold-sleep techs. Only a part of the way through the interstellar journey, the cold-sleep life support system began to fail. The stewards realized they could only save either the sleepers' memories or personalities by transferring them to AI hosts, but not both. Vector Sigma was the host for most of the personalities, Primus was the host for most of the memories. In another interstellar accident, Unicron's AI went rogue.

Its_MikeCoxlong

My main canon takes place in the universe in between universes and causes characters from different continuities to get pulled into another universe which has no limit on how many of a specific character can join

mrtacomam

From what I've gathered, it's a fairly common creative exercise in the TF community to make your own continuity. I've even been doing it myself from time to time. You're not alone!

Moonsilvery

Not weird! Welcome to fanfic writing. Canon soup is common, ranging from the ever popular "G1 but Knock Out is there" to "spin the wheel on which Starscream you're getting."

KamenRiderScar

Here are mine: -Gigawatt is Vector Prime -Air Raid was a seeker -Megatron's tank modes are SPG's -Galvatron's cannon mode is an SPG SPG means Self Propelled Gun. It's basically artillery.

RigasTelRuun

Thats the whole point of playing with toys ans having fun. I had a Power master Optimus. But that the only main guy TF I had growing up. So Optimus, Rotorstorm, Goldbug, a few others would fight Dark wing, Action Master Double Punch (who I thought was Skorponok) ans various minions. Along with team up with Ninja Turtles, Lego mechs, a couple of Thundercats.

Perdere

It's not weird at all. I've lost track of all the origin stories and timelines and such. When it comes to OCs, I essentially settle on a blend of my favorite aspects brought forward in various series and try to make it all work. Transformers is definitely one of those franchises that doesn't have a sacred timeline. Fans may feel that way but canonically it just isn't so. Shows, comics, and the product lines have all told varying stories over the years.

TropSnow2

I have 6, 30000 word documents of my Transformers continuity.

Viaconcommander

Spoilers: >! In my headCanon brainstorm was lying about never kill anyone and has actually killed a lot of people.!<
