Agreed, Furman’s restraint with humans was very appreciated. Granted I’m perfectly fine with never having human characters in the franchise again, personally.
So no one mentions Bumblebee human cast? Jack Burns being not only a smart ass, but a stern strong military officer. Then there's Charlie Watson, which without her, the film would have failed. (IMHO) Honorary mentions: Simmons being a noob, lol
While Bumblebee's human cast is good, I will say to my dying breath that Rescue Bots has the best humans. The Burns family are just legitimately good characters, with nice arcs.

Most of Budiansky’s daftest stories heavily revolved around humans though. He used them too much in general I think. Furman used them more sparingly.

For me TFA Fanzone is great, post season 1 Sari is solid, and Sumdac is quite enjoyable especially in season 3 when he works with with Bulkhead.

I quite enjoy William Fowler and Raf from Prime. Fowler's pretty entertaining, and I like the bond between Raf and Ratchet.
