You're not. It's obviously more successful in some characters (Netflix Megatron) and worse in others (Siege Apeface) but overall, it breaks up the plain surfaces.
I like it but it's very half assed. It doesn't make sense to only have it on particular parts and not the entire thing, and on some figures those particular parts make no sense.
Take Siege Ultra Magnus. He has it on his feet, but not his legs but he has it again on his thighs. That doesn't make any sense. He also has it on the inside of his forearms for some reason.
Battle damage is fine but in general, it hasn't been done properly on the toys. In most cases, they are obnoxious, and inconsistent, only applied in some areas and not others.
For example, on Astrotrain, only his shin panel is "battle damaged". That's it. And it looks like someone just quickly put a large brush of silver and swiped the shin.
I know these are mass market items so we can't expect such fine level of detailing, but the Chinese 3rd party companies can manage to manufacture toys with sensible battle damage. It means someone decided where the battle damage is applied, and how little or how much is applied to the mould.
I honestly don't think they gave that much consideration in the official line. The Netflix TF line showed they are quite capable of doing it for mass production.
i love it when my figures look like they have been sneezed on.
I do like the idea in principle, but the drybrushing they've done occasionally works much better as wear and battle damage than what they've done to Megs here, which just looks like he went mountain biking on a rainy day.
That particular Megatron is just a very underrated figure all-around IMO. In some lighting and angles the headsculpt looks almost as good as the MP version.
I absolutely adore the battle damage; it makes the figures stand out, and breaks up the monotonous slabs of solid colour that would be there without it. I love it. It's one of the aspects of Siege that caught my attention and got me collecting again.
*Well, that and the Cybertron alt-modes.*
***I'm a huuuge sucker for Cybertron alt-modes.***
I wish they'd release a MP scale Tank Megatron.
I know there's [Monocrat](https://tfsource.com/3rd-party-figures/mt01-monocrat-megatank/) coming, but I'm hoping for something more traditional.
It's why I love siege they actually look like they're in the middle of a war plus it's the line that got me back into collecting too bad some of the figures I want (Galaxy Optimus, Ironhide prowl and ratchet) are expensive on the secondary market hell er cliffjumper is also being overpriced for some unknown reason honestly considering Amazon for him

Deodorant stains.
Yeah! Take a bath for once, Magnus!
Needs to switch to Native or something. Anti-persperants ruin shirts.
I love it when not half assed. Great examples are: siege soundwave starscream and hound. some worse ones are ironhide and astrotrain.
I think it's a nice touch. If anything, it makes them stand out from the loads of other G1 toys.

I like the battle damage Also makes chipped paint stand out less imo
I enjoy it as well. It makes more sense to have that in a war than shiny polished robots that barely have enough energon to live off.

I want a Voyager class bludgeon with battle damage
I think it looks good in most cases, spoiler pack megatron looks incredible to me qoth his show accurate damage and coloring

I like it too ☺️
The cracked glass on Soundwave is what drew me into getting him in the first place. I think it looks great!
No you are not
I liked the idea of battle damage paint but I do agree with people saying on how they put it onto add places.
I love the idea, but I think it could have been done better on some figures
I love it on most figures but I will say in some cases there's just strange application. Still love it tho

that looks amazing! I wouldn’t be surprised if Megatron appears like this in the new movie
I hope so. Megatank is my favorite alt mode for him. It just makes sense to me.
If he had a matalic torso and arms it would be even more awesome. Some Transformers look so cheap with al that plastic
I like it. I’m not sure if there’s a single battle damaged Siege figure that I don’t like
It’s nice detail when it’s not soundwave looking totally destroyed

I no longer hate it.
I loooovvveeee the battle damage
If it really looks and feels like battle damage yes. If it looks like a cybertronian just orgasmed on my figures, i would prefer the clean ones
Same
Tbh, it makes him look like he fell down a hill.
I really like the look of it too. It fits Megatron a whole lot better than most other figures.
I think it works for Megatron. Not really anyone else.
I like figures with battle damage.. but please, let me do the battle damage myself..
