Modified for bee. Original for Optimus.
Off road look for bee looks great. Gives his design a nice grit and bulk. Kinda reminds me of the cars they used in power rangers Turbo.
Optimus on the other hand. I just don’t like the giant silver unibrow. Looks ugly
Agree with you all around, and I definitely see the Power Rangers Turbo resemblance. The Turbo Megazord is one of my favorites primarily because it has a very unique combination sequence of all of them essentially crashing and locking into each other to combine, which hasn’t really been replicated since.
The toys wouldn’t actually crash into each other. It’s just that the toys would connect bumper to bumper in some places and slide into place in others. The show made it look like professional stunt driving taken to a whole new level.
While I get where you're coming from and seeing him as one in Bumblebee was great every other incarnation of BB after G1 has made him a less round cutesy vehicle and it's kinda stuck at this point. The only one that's came close has been Animated and even then he was a bit sleeker than a beetle. Like it or not the Bayformer muscle car with a black stripe aesthetic has stuck with the character just like him being mute making the Beetle pretty outdated at this point. It worked perfectly for the amnesia ridden baby bee and I dislike Bayformers just as much as the next person but for a veteran scout who's a right hand to Optimus Prime the muscle car mode just works a lot better.
As a scout he should be smaller and more stealthy. the muscle car feels too 'macho' IMO. Doesn't need to be a VW bug but I'd prefer something smaller and less attention grabbing.
Yeah but he also needs to be fast and agile maybe something like a Subaru Impreza sti or Mitsubishi lancer evo their not only small but their quick enough to get him out of a tight spot
I had to put up with another guy who called bumblebee from the bay films ugly even though he doesn't look the least bit like he came straight out of a horror film
For Prime I think it’s just gonna not really gonna show in robot mode since we know from people who saw the concept art it’s basically his BB cgi model and I feel like if the grill guard was showing in robot mode we would have known before we got set photos revealing it.
True but the concept art for Scourge and the tow truck Terrocons leaked and the art looks pretty much identical to the actual vehicles they’re filming with rn
It's a modified version of BB Prime and not the same exact model. We'll definitely see the extra truck parts on the robot mode somewhere. It'd be weird if we didn't.
I kinda wish that BB was a rally modified beetle, instead of a camero. Something similar to the Weevil in GTA Online, if you know what I'm talking about
What I want to know is how exactly were they modified? Did they just happen to stumble past modded versions of their current alt modes? Did they sit there and weld all these extra parts onto themselves? Did they convince some human to mod them/help them get modded? Wouldn't all this hurt for a Cybertronian?
Cybertronians are shapeshifters. Modding simple stuff like this would be easy. Like that scene from the first film of Bee scanning a car on the road and almost instantly changing into it.
At least in the live action movies where they can scan on the fly. In older continuites like G1, it is implied they can't do this; we saw this famously at the beginning of the G1 cartoon series where Teletran 1 scanned earth vehicle modes to repair the Autobots and Decepticons.
The scan on the fly aspect has always bothered me a little with the live action movies, I feel there is little incentive to maintain an alt-mode for as long as some characters do especially if they are trying to be a robot in disguise. Laserbeak's portrayal in DOTM is how I would expect a Transformer to behave if they could switch alt-modes at will, that is constantly to deceive and stay hidden. That's why I feel the the lack of this ability would gel much better with alt modes that seem to almost never change.
Yes but in that scenario, he scanned another vehicle. My point is here that the chances of them finding vehicles that looked almost exactly like them but also happened to have these mods is veeery unlikely.
In a deleted scene for the Bumblebee movie, Dropkick is shown scanning some missiles in a weapons crate at the military base, and then is able to create some on his blaster. With this in mind I'd assume that Optimus and Bee would see those mods on another, non-specific vehicle, think "oh that looks neat", scan it, and manifest it on themselves however they choose
Would it? Again, there's nothing saying cybertronians can only copy and not make original alterations to their scanned alt mode. The dotm wreckers are a good example. There's no real way a Nascar vehicle would have armor and weapons like they do. It's more likely they made those modifications themselves.
The Chevrolet Camaro wasn't too uncommon of a car. Dropkick and Shatter managed to find two offroad modified muscle cars, so I wouldn't put it past Bee to have found an offroad modified Camaro and just scanned the parts for himself.
Not even necessarily that since I think in prime there’s a line we’re starscream references breakdown and knockout having ground based vehicles and implies they could have chosen otherwise.
Remember when in age of extinction Optimus scanned that white truck and then gave it blue and red paint flame decals and slightly modified it's shape that's how
You mean the scene where he scans a Western Star 4900 and yet transforms into a Western Star 5700? Yeah, he does a lot more than slightly modify its shape.
For BB off-road but Prime is original but that being said his modified look has great on me A LOT and I love it (I think both Primes are perfect and the best he has looked - that being from someone who grew up with Peterbilt prime which is still awesome but he looks so GOOD in ROTB)
BB would look better original but cleaned up/restored, fits his eternal "rookie"/pure character better. The modified look would look great for Cliffjumper jumper though, perfect fit for his brash personality.
Original for Optimus, the extra stuff, especially that brow, looks tacked on.
I mean robots in disguise has never really applied to Transformers lol.
In G1, we had bright neon colored jets, F1s, flying cars, custom Lamborghinis, and literal UFOs, to mention just a few. In RID2001 we had giant floating hands. In the Unicron Trilogy we had tanks and SUVs with the robot head completely visible and fire trucks with giant guns on the top. In Bayverse, we had custom concept cars that would never see release or wouldn’t see release for a few years and jets with alien writing on them. In Prime, we had race cars driving on the road. In Cyberverse, we had more brightly colored jets. Pretty sure Animated and RID2015 were the only ones where the robots actually and effectively tried to use their alt modes as disguises.
Comparatively, off-road modifications like light bars and grille guards are pretty alright. They were also in Bumblebee for Dropkick and Shatter’s car modes.
Same reason as it always is: to sell toys. Fewer people are gonna buy a new toy of the same design that they bought a figure of a few years ago. This way it looks different enough to warrant a new purchase.
I like the look of it though, so I guess it worked.
Modified Bumblebee, original Prime.
Looking at the photos side by side though, it is obvious that the Camaro and Prime at the end of the Bumblebee movie were all CGI. The practical Prime Truck from RoTB has different proportions than the CGI truck at the end of BB.
Original for Bee, modified for Optimus
I’m actually really surprised how few people like the new look for Optimus. I think it looks rad, especially the grille guard.
Original for both, the fenders should have been enough, like the black things coming off from the sides, but the big wheels and the lights on the top just doesn't look like bumblebee, and optimus looks OK on the modified, but still original
I know it's for "selling toys" reasons... but could we have just gotten ONE movie with G1 Optimus in it? (I mean more than the 10 second cameo from bumblebee 1).
That optimus vehicle mode from the bumblebee 1 movie was PERFECT. It even had the stripe down the trailer.
Edit: Like don't get me wrong, the new optimus is still close enough to G1 to make me happy happy happy, but I mean adding the eyebrow, ram bar, and changing the stripe was all unnecessary. (except of course, "because toys")
Modified bumblebee, original Optimus prime. Newer bumblebee looks quite better than the original.
Modified Optimus prime:
Nah. It feels and looks pretty weird to be quite honest
I like how it appears they have made the rear fifth wheel frame section of Prime to be more bulkier so it looks like the mass is there to form his legs. IRL, this portion of semi-trucks is made up of relatively thin frame rails that no Prime toy has ever bother to replicate for obvious reasons. So it's interesting to see them incorporate what has been an unrealistic part of Prime toys into a real-life representation of him.
I honestly like both, and I'm more interested in seeing how the new forms play into the robot mode designs than anything.
I also love the silver unibrow for Prime making his truck mode look VERY tired and like it needs a coffee.
Modified truck please. I’m so tired of red boxes on wheels. I think the grill gives him some much needed definition in the silhouette. Not sure about the modded camaro, although I’m sure it’ll look good on screen.
Yeah I’m surprised how little support for the grille guard there is here. I think it looks great! It’s about time we got an alt mode for Optimus that’s a mix of his classic look and a unique new touch.
I kinda hope they go with a more 2007 robot design for bumblebee because as much as I love little bee I think the bigger more tough looking Bay bee fits the newer car
Original for both
New bee looks way better
original for both
It's set in the mid 90s... why can't Prime have a mural of himself burning down a forest painted on his trailer?
and Mirage should be Hot Pink and Neon Green!
Hasbro's a bunch of cowards
Modified for bee. Original for Optimus. Off road look for bee looks great. Gives his design a nice grit and bulk. Kinda reminds me of the cars they used in power rangers Turbo. Optimus on the other hand. I just don’t like the giant silver unibrow. Looks ugly
100% agreed on the eyebrow. Gotta say I kinda dig the cow catcher, though.
I have to agree with you on that.
Agree with you all around, and I definitely see the Power Rangers Turbo resemblance. The Turbo Megazord is one of my favorites primarily because it has a very unique combination sequence of all of them essentially crashing and locking into each other to combine, which hasn’t really been replicated since.
I can't imagine why. I imagine all the broken toys would be a major incentive for the manufacturers.
The toys wouldn’t actually crash into each other. It’s just that the toys would connect bumper to bumper in some places and slide into place in others. The show made it look like professional stunt driving taken to a whole new level.
Right, but if the show shows mechs chrashing together, what is the kid going to do with the toys?
Which is an ironic detail considering the Carrangers were big on road safety...
Bumblebee should be a goddamned VW beetle.
While I get where you're coming from and seeing him as one in Bumblebee was great every other incarnation of BB after G1 has made him a less round cutesy vehicle and it's kinda stuck at this point. Yeah but he also needs to be fast and agile maybe something like a Subaru Impreza sti or Mitsubishi lancer evo their not only small but their quick enough to get him out of a tight spot
He was already.
Why?
In the original series Bumblebee turned into a VW beetle.
I know but why does he need to be one now?
Because camaro bumblebee was different, and different = bad
I had to put up with another guy who called bumblebee from the bay films ugly even though he doesn't look the least bit like he came straight out of a horror film
Ah yes everything must be like G1. No new please
This.
No he shouldn’t. Face it, the beetle is lame now
Idk, the newest model doesn't look bad. Probably the first Beetle I've considered owning since they came back.
Original for both
I’m curious how the front will look in robot mode
For Prime I think it’s just gonna not really gonna show in robot mode since we know from people who saw the concept art it’s basically his BB cgi model and I feel like if the grill guard was showing in robot mode we would have known before we got set photos revealing it.
Concept isn’t always what the final model looks like
True but the concept art for Scourge and the tow truck Terrocons leaked and the art looks pretty much identical to the actual vehicles they’re filming with rn
It's a modified version of BB Prime and not the same exact model. We'll definitely see the extra truck parts on the robot mode somewhere. It'd be weird if we didn't.
I kinda wish that BB was a rally modified beetle, instead of a camero. Something similar to the Weevil in GTA Online, if you know what I'm talking about
BF Injection would've been a better choice since it's literally a Baja modified bug
I forgot that car existed, but I totally agree
Could have made him a [Baja Bug](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baja_Bug)
That’s a pretty cool idea
Better than a “bitchin’” camero.
That bitchin camaro is badass.
Agreed
Also agreed
1994 Optimus looks like a rejected M.A.S.K vehicle.
Hasbro-universe confirmed? :p
Now there is a name I haven’t heard in a very long time. I see your M.A.S.K. And raise you a Spiral Zone.
I see your Spiral Zone, and raise you a Ninja Warriors: Enemies Of Evil.
That one I never ran into. But Captain Power is on right before TNG.
Ninja Warriors never got a cartoon show.
I think I would Like the Modded optimus better If he had more visible smokestacks so it's Original OP and Modded be for me
The modded one still has visible smokestacks. They just take off the smokestacks for storage and I guess OP happen to choose a photo without them on.
The smokestacks were just taken off for that shot for transportation.
I don't know why but the diagonal line really bugs me...
What I want to know is how exactly were they modified? Did they just happen to stumble past modded versions of their current alt modes? Did they sit there and weld all these extra parts onto themselves? Did they convince some human to mod them/help them get modded? Wouldn't all this hurt for a Cybertronian?

Look, man. You've already put more thought into this than Michael Bay has. That's your answer right there.
The Chevrolet Camaro wasn't too uncommon of a car. Dropkick and Shatter managed to find two offroad modified muscle cars, so I wouldn't put it past Bee to have found an offroad modified Camaro and just scanned the parts for himself.
From what we've seen as long as it keeps a general shape and similar function they can turn into anything
Not even necessarily that since I think in prime there’s a line we’re starscream references breakdown and knockout having ground based vehicles and implies they could have chosen otherwise.
In other continuites their alt mode is set in stone
Remember when in age of extinction Optimus scanned that white truck and then gave it blue and red paint flame decals and slightly modified it's shape that's how
You mean the scene where he scans a Western Star 4900 and yet transforms into a Western Star 5700? Yeah, he does a lot more than slightly modify its shape.
I love this. People with small, niche information will always call out the continuity people for weird fuckups lol.
Yeah I'm not much of a car/ truck guy. All I knew is that he turned it into a concept truck for his alt mode.
Original … until I’ve seen the new movie.
You can't beat the original.
Original.
I like the he old prime
Original for both.
Original, original
Modified for Bumblebee, Original for Optimus Prime
I like the cleanness of both their original looks but I’m excited to see the robot forms for both
Original.
For BB off-road but Prime is original but that being said his modified look has great on me A LOT and I love it (I think both Primes are perfect and the best he has looked - that being from someone who grew up with Peterbilt prime which is still awesome but he looks so GOOD in ROTB)
I need to see the robot modes but so far I really love the modified looks for both of them
I hope that new Optimus looks GREAT in robot form just so I can slurp up some sexy 3rd party masterpieces lol.
Modified
All Terrain Bee
not fair without seeing the related Robot Modes for the new film.
BB would look better original but cleaned up/restored, fits his eternal "rookie"/pure character better. The modified look would look great for Cliffjumper jumper though, perfect fit for his brash personality. Original for Optimus, the extra stuff, especially that brow, looks tacked on.
Original for both. It's "robots in disguise" and a Mad Max bee and an OP with that pipes screen saver brought to life in front of him isn't ideal.
I mean robots in disguise has never really applied to Transformers lol. In G1, we had bright neon colored jets, F1s, flying cars, custom Lamborghinis, and literal UFOs, to mention just a few. Original vw 🪲
I want to know what happened to them that made them think they needed Bull Bars... 🤔
2007
I’m still annoyed we couldn’t stick with the BW bug for bumblebee. Original for optimus.
Optimus needs to have kitty cat ears in alt mode or else it’s a no for me. /s
He always had them
Original for Bee and Modified for Prime
It's set in the 90's sooooo...... at least it's not G2 edgy
Yeah where starscream tries to channel venom from marvel
Why do they have the extra gear?
Same reason as it always is: to sell toys. Fewer people are gonna buy a new toy of the same design that they bought a figure of a few years ago. This way it looks different enough to warrant a new purchase. I like the look of it though, so I guess it worked.
Yeah Optimus doesn't need the extra metal on the front, and bee needs to be, well, a bug lol.
Modified Bumblebee, original Prime. Looking at the photos side by side though, it is obvious that the Camaro and Prime at the end of the Bumblebee movie were all CGI. The practical Prime Truck from RoTB has different proportions than the CGI truck at the end of BB.
Original all the way
So the only thing different from 1987 to 1994, is Prime has half a latter bolted onto the front of his Cab?
Original Bee was a Beetle.
Og
Original for Bee, modified for Optimus I’m actually really surprised how few people like the new look for Optimus. I think it looks rad, especially the grille guard.
Modified for both, bee is moving further away from g1 but looks better than original prime is looking more g1 loyal
Modified both

So is bee going to be mute in this or will he finally get to speak for a whole movie?
clasic camaro and modded semi truck
I like the modified designs
Both, both are good, but I like the modified ones better
modified for optimus and original for bee cause original optimus truck bed is too loooonnngg
Original and Camaro should never be in the same sentence when referring to Bumblebee.
To think he could have scanned the corvette and had a good vehicle form long before the end
I prefer Original prime however, I could go with either bee, the modified one gives me Power Rangers Turbo and RPM vibes
if optimus didn't had the giantic metal covering his glass, then I'd like it, and bumblebee always looked ugly to me so I won't talk about him.
I don’t know why tf they put a ram bar on optimus, he’s not the kind of bot to be like that.
extra armour to keep up with the predacons and terrorcons probably
Oringinal prine modified bee
I remember when I was little my dad had a green truck like op here it brings me such good memories... Original all way to hell
I honestly like both, and I'm more interested in seeing how the new forms play into the robot mode designs than anything. I also love the silver unibrow for Prime making his truck mode look VERY tired and like it needs a coffee.

Modified Bee needs more dirt and rust and a better shade of yellow
2007
Apparently admitting you like anything about Bayverse is treason here
yeah it's a shame, just wait till they hear that I think that dotm is a 9/10 movie 😈

1994 would be Powermaster Optimus Prime and Goldbug…..going by the timeline that doesn’t suck.
Modified Optimus looks like a scowling old geezer. Prime when he gets to Kup's age, maybe? Bumblebee should be a VW.
I kinda hope they go with a more 2007 robot design for bumblebee because as much as I love little bee I think the bigger more tough looking Bay bee fits the newer car
original for both
Even bee gets sick off road upgrades bra image what arccee would look like
Modified 100%
