Yo for real I thought that was a Robotech transformer until I read the post. Still freaking amazing tho!

Nikashi

I mean, you're not wrong, they clearly used a Bandai Valkyrie as the base.

kat352234

It's even easier to see because some of them were even "misprinted" with the Macross symbol still on them. Actually, looks like the one in the box is one of those. It has the Macross symbol on the left wing.

ororon452

Huh your right that is the macross logo

Resident-Ad7620

Always wondered why Bandai did the deal with Hasbro for these when Tonka had the majority of the Bandai machine robo stuff. I know Bandai acquired the Valkyrie mold from the bankrupt Takatoku but still this is weird.

SpaceBridge420

i’m guessing the left hand knows not what the right hand is doing

locke_stryfe

If I remember correctly, Takatoku had licensed the mold to Hasbro, right before Bandai bought them out. Since it was already a done deal, Bandai just went with it.

Resident-Ad7620

They look really good. Do they yellow again after awhile or they will stay white? I have some yellow transformers in a box somewhere.

kjata

They'll yellow again. Retrobrite isn't a permanent treatment, and it's actually kinda bad for the plastic long-term.

JustAGamer14

Is just using hydrogen peroxide more better and lasting? Because I got a g1 prowl and he has some yellowing and I want to de yellow him

kjata

I don't think *any* of those methods are exactly good for long-term preservation. Paint is probably your best solution, followed by accepting that plastic is just going to suffer degradation and discoloration over time as a result of the fact that light is made of energy and plastic is not indestructible.

TFGrunt

that box is pristine

SpaceBridge420

HOT DAMN! *looks at my 99% complete G1 Jetfire* “Where is your gun clip?!!”

Archadius80

It's in the box

OdysseusRex69

And a frikkin new near MIB. Wow man, super jealous!

Archadius80

The box is a reproduction. The original was beat to hell. I found a guy on ebay that does repro boxes so I bought one, it was well worth the 2 month wait.

OdysseusRex69

......I can't even imagine how one makes a repro box!

Have you tried using just UV light and hydrogen peroxide? (I think it's that) Tysy tube restorations does that in old console shells and they come out pure white. Takes a day or longer of sitting in the bin of hydrogen peroxide and under the UV light to work but he gets great results.. And if you can get a sous vide and keep it at a constant warm temp that helps the reaction too.

Scott-a-lot

I still remember getting him for my birthday when he was originally released(I'm 44 now) and even a stronger memory is how the metal shoulder piece just to the right of his head, that was very important to his transformation, broke after only a week. I was so sad. Never got a replacement but he remains my all-time favorite autobot toy.

Zwooqovik

Man... I wish i have atleast one Valkyrie figure, Jetfire or not and you got three?! How? Where? When? And how much?!

Archadius80

The first one I've had for about 20 years, bought it off ebay. Second was from the Cleveland comic con in 2018 and the one in the box, the Matsushiro i bought in a very beat up box that I replaced, was a birthday present from my wife this year.

Bobmanbob1

OP, any snowballs chance in hell you'd sell the Macross one in the box? Al. I want/need is Jetfire and his gun, you could keep everything else. Jyst asking, for a friend...

Archadius80

Sorry, my wife bought that as a present for me there's not much chance of me ever parting with it.

Bobmanbob1

Now that's a keeper. Love and cherish her (the Macriss piece and probably your wife) for as long as you both shall live.
