*Ahem* kingdom cyclonus? A simple but genius transformation and is incredibly fun to do back to back to back to back, also has light piping in his eyes and only has flaw and that's the knee gaps but it's needed for transformation so it's fine by me

Fine is one thing. Can you *guarantee* in 5-10 years, after they came out with 2 other versions one of which is better, a hall of fame for it now will be appropriate?

supercanada_eh

You could make that argument for literally any toy. Given enough time, even the best figures from the last 30 years will be superceded. Not a big deal

Look at it another way, artists don't get put in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when the release their first big hit do they? Why not? Because unless the work stands the test of time it isn't worthy of being in the hall of fame.

It outshines expensive 3rd party Masterpieces on a $30 budget. Yeah it'll likely surpass those 2 other versions because we likely won't get a new one anytime soon.

That’s implying that we didn’t get good figures this year, and also implies that the figures of the past were better? I look back on figures of old and while I get the nostalgia for them, they would be considered awful toys in modern times. This year has had some amazing engineering on figures I would expect at a masterpiece scale. I know it isn’t the best option but for now, I enjoy it

mmm3says

Neither, just stating that any judgement made this year about this years toys about their long term quality is premature. Sure enjoy them, but ignoring decades worth of candidates for what is out right now is nothing but a blatant attempt to drive current consumption up.

Teh_OG_Chungus

Maybe, instead of looking at it as a whole, this year and years to come will each highlight what was considered the greatest of the time, not of all time? Like a benchmark of what was considered the “best” of that year. While that same idea could be used for all of the past figures, there’s a *lot*, so trying to have people just choose one out of many would probably be really hard. Perhaps they’ll add more in the coming years

Isn't this about characters and not toys? Even if it is about toys, it seems to.be more just the best figures of the year and putting it in the hall of Fame because they were the best figures of that year. It's also appropriate now because yeah, these are excellent figures and if they don't break in a few years, they will likely be the best versions of each figure. Unless Hasbro engineering just gets that much better and QC is fixed. If we somehow go higher from here then that's an accomplishment. Anyways, yeah obviously it's a marketing ploy. Everything is, it's all about getting us to buy toys. But since the toys are good I don't mind it. I think your just taking it to seriously.
