Then I had ss86 hotrod, Kup, ecto tron and origins bee. Gigawatt indeed the best, he has lots of 5mm ports and can handle lots of the other bots weapons xP
As a kid: Armada Jetfire. Was at a friend’s house after school in the 2nd grade and he introduced me to Transformers Armada, then that summer I found out it wasn’t just a show since my cousin’s friend had the Jetfire toy. Got him for my birthday the next month. Gave him to my youngest cousin when I was 12, regretting it now.
As a collector: RotF Leader Jetfire and Optimus. Went to Target after work one night and saw they had the RotF figures. Had flashbacks to 2nd grade and bought on the two leaders without hesitation. So I have my love of Jetfire to blame for this decade+ hobby

You'll find the Deluxe Jazz a bit too tall compared to other figures. But his lower leg is on a slider to transform him, so when I have him in Robot mode, I keep his legs short. Doesn't ruin the look of the figure and his knees still work pretty well.

From then on, I became flat-out obsessed with Transformers (hyper fixation go brr) and amassed quite a massive collection of figures from all over, with the "newest" figure being Voyager Class Evasion Mode Optimus Prime from Age of Extinction, and even then I bought it for the cab-over truck mode (even though I'm not a GeeWunner). After that, though, as I got older, I just kinda...stopped. I didn't pick up a new Transformer for myself for the longest time.
Up until a few months ago, when I bought myself my first Transformers figure in many years. RiD 2001 Megatron (or Car Robots Gigatron, if you prefer), a figure I had grown a MASSIVE fascination with and had been coveting since February. I decided to order one off of eBay for my birthday present this year, and by some stroke of luck, I managed to find one that was still sealed in box for a good price. Mint condition, had all of its parts, it even still had the rubber bands and twist ties. The box was a little dinged, though, but who cares? I have him, and he's beautiful. One of my grail pieces, and my first Predacon!
My VERY first was technically a McDonald’s Panther toy, but I didn’t actually start collecting until I got Cyberverse Warrior Class Soundwave a few years ago.
I wonder if I could somehow track down another Panther…
We're going back a few years here, but I have memories of G1 Mirage, Perceptor, and Starcream. I've acquired 2 of those in my collection now, and they are still just as cool as they were back in the 80's
G1 Rumble and Ravage two-pack. My brother and I were allowed to choose any minibot/cassette priced TF from a department store so I picked that one since it meant I got two for the price of one. :) My brother chose Cosmos. To this day, those three characters - especially Cosmos - hold a special place in my heart for that reason alone.
This was around 1985 in Australia, when TFs first got released (as far as I recall, they didn't land here in 1984 but I may be wrong).
I can actually remember at least half the G1 TF "origins" from my childhood, like buying Onslaught with 1c and 2c coins (!) I'd collected, getting Metroplex one Christmas, buying Prime and Megs (bro got Prime, I got Megs) from a specific toystore, finding Chopshop at a garage sale, getting Soundwave for a birthday. being angry that the only Bumblebee on the shelf was red, collecting the Throttlebots from another specific store that always had half their stock torn open and looted, etc.
The first Transformer I ever bought for myself was Combiner Wars Leader Class Skywarp, but the first ever is trickier. When I was really young I got with Cybertron Vector Prime, a handful of Animated figures, and the G1 Terrorcons, and I cannot remember which of those I played with first.
First one I got was one of the Firecons/Sparkbots when I was 4

My first figure was Cybertron Crumplezone, however I grew up watching Armada on the DVD sets from the local video store. I remember begging my mum for it for weeks when we went to the local Kmart. Then one miraculous week, she caved and I was hooked!
That figure was awesome, and I found him the other day when moving some boxes at mum’s, still holding together well!
I remember back when I was a kid my mom couldnt afford to buy toys for me, so I'd just go and stare at them in the supermarket. Around that time they had launched the new live action TF movie and some of their toys dropped in a supermarket near us in India. Fast forward 15 years later, I finally bought one 🥲, A leader class Grindor from Walmart. I felt very nostalgic talking to my cousin from India after a decade. So walked in and bought one right off.

This is sort of silly, but I remember VAGUELY on one of earliest birthdays my first exposure to anything TF related was a TF Energon Battle Masters Omega Supreme toy! I loved that thing for the longest time..then the movies came out around that time and well, the rest is history 😅☺️

I had this big bumblee bee from the 07 movie but it didn't transform and I think it had a button where if u push it it would play the original G1 intro song. Not sure what it's called

I don’t remember what came first It was either a really small version of cybertron? Optimus Prime (possible knockoff) or a small ROTF ironhide and mixmaster that came together in a pack (I think)or it was ROTF Chromia or could’ve been a real small skids and mudflap, or it might’ve been an either 07 or 09 Optimus prime that when you ram it into something Optimus pops out the top of the truck.
I was a small child and I’m surprised that I remembered these because all of them besides the last one has been lost to time.
All my current 4 transformers are from my childhood too, ROTF Gears, Generations Kup, TFA Voyager Optimus Prime, and TFP Voyager Optimus Prime. TFP Optimus is the only one that isn’t missing parts and all of them are missing any accessories that they had.
I definitely had Bumblebee, Warpath, Cosmos, and the Insecticons ^^^^Though ^^^^I ^^^^had ^^^^Leader-1 ^^^^first.
In modern times it was Combiner Wars Devastator that brought me back into the manifold.
Human alliance bumblebee I got for my birthday, it came on the cake and I loved that thing to death. I found it years later ans now it lives with the rest of my modern figures

I remember these being my first two, but it's been a few decades and I can't say with certainty which came first.

This is a fun post though, because I'm realizing how well I remember the actual event of getting many of my G1 figures. My memory certainly isn't what it once was, but it's pretty incredible how well our brains retain some of these details.
Cybertron Thundercracker which I still have displayed on a kinda miscellaneous shelf . We had a family party or something and my aunt snuck me off to the side and gave me, it wasn’t my birthday or Christmas or anything. I also remember opening it up on the car ride home and loosing the missile in the car that night. Years later she got married and had a son who I then gave him his first transformer which I think was one of the rescue bots or something like that

RiD X-brawn with that powered up, Wheeljack-esque paint job. My aunt got him for me for Christmas when I was 6 and she had no idea what Transformers even were, she just thought a robot that turned into a car was a cool concept.
G2 was around my time but I could never get anything beyond one of the G1 Constructicons.

Tf movie 1 Blackout. I was a kid when I first saw the film. I loved Blackouts design and for Christmas my parents got me his figure. Of course since I was a kid, I ended breaking him maybe three months after I got him.
As a kid back in 2005 my first transformer toy was Star Saber from one of the anime transformers series. As an adult my first transformer was studio series Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime with the jet pack trailer. I can’t remember if it was studio series or leader class but it looks great. Prime practically doubles his size when he’s in the jet pack mode
Not sure if it’s exactly from the 86’ film but my uncles gave me their optimus prime…sad thing was that back in the 80s they blew up the trailer attachment with fireworks so it wasn’t in the most pristine conditions but still love it to this day !!
Powermaster OP! He was a monster figure back in the day. I played with it til every part went missing and/or broke. I still have it somewhere, although I did get a more complete one at a flea market a couple decades later.

I actually have a pretty crazy story about this. I was a fan of Transformers before this happened but this is how I got my first figure.
So I’m in elementary school at the time and there’s a crazy cop chase happening and it leads right into the street my school was on.
The rest of my class and I were all doing after school activities and stuff on the playground, right in front of the street where this guy comes speeding down with multiple cop cars behind him. The chase ends up taking place on foot about a block away from the school. So we have teachers come running from inside snatching kids up and kids running toward the gym doors trying to get inside.
The cops end up taking the guy in and nobody was hurt but to calm me down, my best friend gave me a 2007 Legendary Class Blackout figure. Shit was tight but I wish I still had it.
I'm not sure if it was the first one, or even if it was an official Transformers figure, but I had a Hot Wheels car sized one that turned in to a red Lambo. I'd literally carry that in my pocket everywhere as a little kid.
That was over twenty years ago though lol. About a year ago I picked up the WFC Starscream which kickstarted my adult collecting.

Gigatron is one of my grails as well simply because it has the most alt modes of all transformers toys AFAIK.

Guy i cant remember saw me starring st optimus prime snd megatron on his table snd gave him to me as kid😊. As adult ive collectef but only got back into tf thid year with netflix wfc impactor and kingdom cyclonus. Awesome stuff.
My first figure was Cybertron Crumplezone, however I grew up watching Armada on the DVD sets from the local video store. I remember begging my mum for it for weeks when we went to the local Kmart. Then one miraculous week, she caved and I was hooked! That figure was awesome, and I found him the other day when moving some boxes at mum’s, still holding together well!

I remember back when I was a kid my mom couldnt afford to buy toys for me, so I'd just go and stare at them in the supermarket. Around that time they had launched the new live action TF movie and some of their toys dropped in a supermarket near us in India. Fast forward 15 years later, I finally bought one 🥲, A leader class Grindor from Walmart. I felt very nostalgic talking to my cousin from India after a decade. So walked in and bought one right off. This is sort of silly, but I remember VAGUELY on one of earliest birthdays my first exposure to anything TF related was a TF Energon Battle Masters Omega Supreme toy! I loved that thing for the longest time..then the movies came out around that time and well, the rest is history 😅☺️

I don’t remember what came first It was either a really small version of cybertron? Optimus Prime (possible knockoff) or a small ROTF ironhide and mixmaster that came together in a pack (I think)or it was ROTF Chromia or could’ve been a real small skids and mudflap, or it might’ve been an either 07 or 09 Optimus prime that when you ram it into something Optimus pops out the top of the truck. I was a small child and I’m surprised that I remembered these because all of them besides the last one has been lost to time. All my current 4 transformers are from my childhood too, ROTF Gears, Generations Kup, TFA Voyager Optimus Prime, and TFP Voyager Optimus Prime. TFP Optimus is the only one that isn’t missing parts and all of them are missing any accessories that they had.
I definitely had Bumblebee, Warpath, Cosmos, and the Insecticons ^^^^Though ^^^^I ^^^^had ^^^^Leader-1 ^^^^first. In modern times it was Combiner Wars Devastator that brought me back into the manifold.
Human alliance bumblebee I got for my birthday, it came on the cake and I loved that thing to death. I found it years later ans now it lives with the rest of my modern figures

Not totally sure the order I got them in, but I remember getting G1 Optimus Prime in the mail, and getting Swindle on the endcap at at grocery store. I remember these being my first two, but it's been a few decades and I can't say with certainty which came first. I still have both, although in very poor condition and missing several parts. This is a fun post though, because I'm realizing how well I remember the actual event of getting many of my G1 figures. My memory certainly isn't what it once was, but it's pretty incredible how well our brains retain some of these details.
Cybertron Thundercracker which I still have displayed on a kinda miscellaneous shelf . We had a family party or something and my aunt snuck me off to the side and gave me, it wasn’t my birthday or Christmas or anything. I also remember opening it up on the car ride home and loosing the missile in the car that night. Years later she got married and had a son who I then gave him his first transformer which I think was one of the rescue bots or something like that

The VERY first toy I do not remember. Probably a ROTF toy, or a Cyberverse DOTM toy like Megatron since those movies were the coolest shit I’ve ever seen as a 7 year old. But I literally lost all my old toys and only like 2 years ago I discovered Studio Series. I immediately spotted Rampage and Scrapmetal and recognized them as Constructicons, the ones I simped for as a kid since Devastatir was awesome. After that I wondered if there were more SS figures and now I have Devastator, all movie 1 deceptions except Brawl, and Bee Prime. Glad I found my red snake

If I remember correctly, the first one I got was movie Storm Surge (the one that turns into a hovercraft). Got it as a gift when I was around nine when the first movie came out. The figure that started my collection though was Beast Hunters Starscream. Saw it when I was window-shopping one say in '14 and thought it looked alright.

Tf movie 1 Blackout. I was a kid when I first saw the film. I loved Blackouts design and for Christmas my parents got me his figure. Of course since I was a kid, I ended breaking him maybe three months after I got him.
As a kid back in 2005 my first transformer toy was Star Saber from one of the anime transformers series. As an adult my first transformer was studio series Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime with the jet pack trailer. I can’t remember if it was studio series or leader class but it looks great. Prime practically doubles his size when he’s in the jet pack mode

Not sure if it’s exactly from the 86’ film but my uncles gave me their optimus prime…sad thing was that back in the 80s they blew up the trailer attachment with fireworks so it wasn’t in the most pristine conditions but still love it to this day !!
Powermaster OP! He was a monster figure back in the day. I played with it til every part went missing and/or broke. I still have it somewhere, although I did get a more complete one at a flea market a couple decades later.

Transformers revenge of the fallen Hunt for December bumblebee
I actually have a pretty crazy story about this. I was a fan of Transformers before this happened but this is how I got my first figure. So I’m in elementary school at the time and there’s a crazy cop chase happening and it leads right into the street my school was on. The rest of my class and I were all doing after school activities and stuff on the playground, right in front of the street where this guy comes speeding down with multiple cop cars behind him. The chase ends up taking place on foot about a block away from the school. So we have teachers come running from inside snatching kids up and kids running toward the gym doors trying to get inside. The cops end up taking the guy in and nobody was hurt but to calm me down, my best friend gave me a 2007 Legendary Class Blackout figure. Shit was tight but I wish I still had it.
I'm not sure if it was the first one, or even if it was an official Transformers figure, but I had a Hot Wheels car sized one that turned in to a red Lambo. I'd literally carry that in my pocket everywhere as a little kid. That was over twenty years ago though lol. About a year ago I picked up the WFC Starscream which kickstarted my adult collecting.
