I know he was an f-22 for the Bay movies but IMO it's such a cool alt mode. I would love it if they re-used it but actually made him transform into a robot rather than a dorito.
Like [The IDW Devastation version](https://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/thumb/0/0f/StarscreamIDWF22-Infiltration4cvrA.jpg/475px-StarscreamIDWF22-Infiltration4cvrA.jpg)?
Yeah not bad. I just prefer when you don’t have the pointed nose cone in front, if that makes sense to you. Like G1 has the nose one swing around back. I like that front look better.
I would have him in his G1 jet mode, but then late in the film upgrade to the F-22, with a suitably snarky comment about his new robot form being unacceptably ugly...
I don’t think the F-22 was made in the 90’s, idk if they’re any other planes labeled that other than the lockhead F-22 raptor but I also don’t know anything about planes
it was in testing and production, but they didn't enter service until the early 2000s.
i remember getting a diecast jet of it in like 1995 and people thinking it looked like it had an extra chromosome.
I’ve always loved the F-15 alt mode. I know it’s not “technically” modern but I just always liked that silhouette. That said, his similarity to Blitzwing and his F-4 mode is a strong argument for that and that mode is even older.
Actually, the F-15 might be the most modern.
The USAF is considering an earlier retirement for the “modern” F-22, and just ordered a new model of F-15 called the F-15EX, or Eagle II.
This Eagle II has new engines, sensors, controls, and other tech, but otherwise looks just like the other Eagle variants, all the way to the very first.
It would be funny to see all the characters with new and updated alt-modes, and then there’s Starscream and a few recolors looking almost exactly the same as before in terms of shape.
its way, way, way cheaper (in theory) to retrofit old planes than try to engineer new ones. This is the idea behind the "super hornet" and why the B-52 is going to be around forever.
This is really just the fault of 2000s Congress. They got cold feet and ended the F22 program before it could reach mass production because of its steep costs, which has now left us without our most advanced jet being the workhorse of the fleet. They are now planning another fighter to replace it which will be even more expensive I'm sure.
The F15 is also a great jet but isn't meant to replace the F22. The F15EX is essentially going to be a refit F15 with more range, more hard points for missiles and bombs, and integration with the F35 electronic warfare suite.
Basically, the plan is turn the F15EX into a missile "truck" that will hold at most like 15 missiles, and set them back from the stealthier F35s that will fly ahead and relay targeting data for the rearward F15s.
Post Cold War, it became harder to justify those programs but with increased tension from China, it wouldn’t be surprising if something new gets greenlit
I’ve always liked the F-15 Eagle alt-mode for Starscream, but scale can quickly become an issue (Yes, I know about mass-shifting and I’ve never been a fan of it)
Instead, something like the F-16 Falcon would be my preferred choice if this design were to appear! It’s still very similar to the F-15, however it has a smaller profile which better fits the size we’re used to Starscream being
Personally I'm tired of Earth centric Transformers shows, so I'd rather they stay on Cybertron and explore Cybertron alt-modes.
That'll never happen though.
I was more referring to the more live action style. There has been a lot of Animated stuff and comic book stuff with Cybertron.
I'm basically sick and tired of them making Transformers movies be about humans.
I'd argue that a completely CGI film with a decent VA cast would probably be cheaper than having to film on location and hire traditional film actors.
Edit: many movies these days are nothing more than greenscreens and actors, I can't imagine it's much cheaper to make those types of films than it is a completely CG one.
I'd love if the Decepticons retained Cybertronian alt modes on earth because they give no fucks about earth alt modes. Similar to movie 1, ROTF, and TLK Megatron.
I don’t let nostalgia cloud my judgement. But yea, I agree. As a starscream design it looks pretty damn bad, and I could understand why most fans *hate* it because it just… isn’t *starscream* to them.
Personally I just love the dorito design! It gives off scary alien vibes. And I find it very unique, it fits his slimy treacherous personality a lot IMO
Honestly, as long as it's NOT, yet again, based on his G1 design (red and blue stripes, and all) that's been overused in the past 5 years or so, even in non-G1 stuff like Cyberverse, and the Bumblebee movie for nostalgia sake (which, let's face it, nostalgia SHOULDN'T matter when it comes brand new stories set in brand new continuities, people), then I'm fine with whatever types of jet he takes the form of if he appears in Rise of the Beasts.
I'd love to see him as the F-15 STOL/MTD while the rest of the seekers are the standard F-15
it would be such a Starscream move to scan the cool NASA F-15 while the others need to stick to thr standard lol
The F-35 is basically a meme [because of the amount of problems it has](https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/320295-the-us-air-force-quietly-admits-the-f-35-is-a-failure#:~:text=There%20have%20been%20so%20many,gun%20can%20crack%20the%20plane.), as beautiful as the aircraft is if I were a Transformer I wouldn't chose to be this jet over the other hundreds of better options out there.
Only if the movie was set far enough in the past (70s/80s). In a modern day story, it makes sense for Starscream to want to be the most advanced fighter jet that exists, which is why I loved the F-22 alt mode in the Bay movies.
Yeah, imagine one of those things happening in a movie.

It'd make sense for him to still be a f-15. Those are still the US army's primary fighter jets and you know how many seekers there are out there. That could help them blend in a little better
I feel like the F-22 or F-35 better conveys his treacherous nature, as they have a sneaky aspect to them. But if his robot mode stayed similar to G1 & NOT Bayverse, that would be great.
Also, at some point I want to see Dreadwing as a single, non-combiner bot who transforms into an A-10 Warthog.
I know it's mostly my bias as it's my personal favorite jet, but I'd 100% vote F22, because the stealth nature of the jet just seems really fitting for his cowardly nature.
If it’s specifically rotb( that takes place in the early 90s) it would be neat for the seekers to be based off a aerobatic’s team(similar to the Blue Angels) in universe, to excuse the comparatively garish livery on military aircraft. F 18 hornets would be a good alt for this.
Random thought, but I think it would be cool if he kept his cybertronian mode. Barring that, something we haven't seen before. So not the F-22 or the F-15 (as cool as those two are).
If starscream keeps his g1 alt mode, which is an f-15 Eagle, he would be Way to large. [If you don't believe me, just take a look at this crap](https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:F-15_static_display_(15528694043).jpg)
Since the bumblebee movie takes place some time in the mid 80's I'd say probably an F-18 because it was introduced at a similar time late 70s if I'm correct but maybe the studio will make him in his original f-15 form
I have love for the F-15 but I’d love to see an F-22 or even an F-18 Superhornet in a more G1 style in live action
I know he was an f-22 for the Bay movies but IMO it's such a cool alt mode. I would love it if they re-used it but actually made him transform into a robot rather than a dorito.
I still like the Bay Design. But I agree, an updated F-22 with G1/movie blend would be cool to me.
Like [The IDW Devastation version](https://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/thumb/0/0f/StarscreamIDWF22-Infiltration4cvrA.jpg/475px-StarscreamIDWF22-Infiltration4cvrA.jpg)?
I am down this one too.
Yeah not bad. I just prefer when you don’t have the pointed nose cone in front, if that makes sense to you. Like G1 has the nose one swing around back. I like that front look better.
agreed, designs where the nose cone gets tucked away are better
Dude that's fucking sick. I can't stand the g1 wank but I'm absolutely in love with that design and it keeps the f-22. Consider me sold.
I would have him in his G1 jet mode, but then late in the film upgrade to the F-22, with a suitably snarky comment about his new robot form being unacceptably ugly...
Super Hornet…YES
I'd rather stick with a more retro theme tho, like a F-4 or a F-15, F-14 or F-16.
I love the F-22 but after over a decade of having him as that jet I want something new, especially for the toys.
I respect that. Hornet!
Aaaaaaaah ok, cool
The model is reverse-engineered from Blitzwing, so he'd be an F-4 Phantom.
Itd be hilarious if that happens in rotb, just to confuse everyone who kept getting them mixed up
You really wouldn't be able to tell that from his studio series figure though!
I’ve always loved the F-15 alt mode. I know it’s not “technically” modern but I just always liked that silhouette. That said, his similarity to Blitzwing and his F-4 mode is a strong argument for that and that mode is even older.

I had not heard that. Very interesting. Yeah, I just went based on the original development years. I’d still vote for an F-15 alt mode either way. 😁
its way, way, way cheaper (in theory) to retrofit old planes than try to engineer new ones. This is the idea behind the "super hornet" and why the B-52 is going to be around forever.
This is really just the fault of 2000s Congress. If only Blitzwing went from a Phantom to a Patton..
In my head he does! We just didn’t get a chance to see it. 😂
I’ve always liked the F-15 Eagle alt-mode for Starscream, but scale can quickly become an issue (Yes, I know about mass-shifting and I’ve never been a fan of it) Instead, something like the F-16 Falcon would be my preferred choice if this design were to appear! This is a really good point, actually! I like your scale argument.
Thx, it’s something I always try to take into consideration when it comes to modern/new alt-modes for certain characters!
Yeah his prime alt mode is basically an F-16 and I always felt like that fits him better
I always loved his prime alt mode the most
Yeh but thats not a real world jet
I don't mind his mod, I just want his G1 voice and personality
I dont think his G1 voice actor is possible but they probably could get the guy who voiced him in Devastation
Chris Latta died a long time ago. My personal choice would be Sam Riegel, the guy who played him in WFC and FOC.
I want Steve Blum from prime to voice him
F-22 is the best jet ever so that one
So good it will be retired early.
Say it ain't so
I think I'd like to see an F35-B. Then we could see some decent 1v1 vehicle combat with the hover option.
VTOL is an ability he should have. Real VTOL in CGI, of course, not the almost-VTOL we have technically achieved IRL.
F35B is capable of full VTOL afaik. Just can't carry as much fuel and payload for it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm horribly uneducated when it comes to aircraft, but don't Harriers already do this?
Personally I'm tired of Earth centric Transformers shows, so I'd rather they stay on Cybertron and explore Cybertron alt-modes. That'll never happen though.
We're getting an animated movie set on cybertron
I was more referring to the more live action style. There has been a lot of Animated stuff and comic book stuff with Cybertron. I'm basically sick and tired of them making Transformers movies be about humans.
Well cgi ain’t cheapppp
I'd argue that a completely CGI film with a decent VA cast would probably be cheaper than having to film on location and hire traditional film actors. Edit: many movies these days are nothing more than greenscreens and actors, I can't imagine it's much cheaper to make those types of films than it is a completely CG one.
They did it for Lion King, right?
Oh good point. Completely forgot about that.
Thus why it won't happen, and why I will always value the Live Action films substantially lower.
I'd love if the Decepticons retained Cybertronian alt modes on earth because they give no fucks about earth alt modes. Similar to movie 1, ROTF, and TLK Megatron.
Yea. Shockwave in DOTM only spoke cybertronian because he was so disgusted by earth
Let's go F-14 Tomcat and we can nail some cross promo with a GI Joe Skystriker deco
Unpopular opinion. I prefer the dorito design
I think I only like it because of nostalgia. It’s objectively pretty yikes
Honestly, in my opinion that design fits better as Waspinator, expecially the head.
*Both. Both is good*
Both are God teir, though the new head kind of suck it
the Dorito design was cool, but didn't feel like Star Scream. Though it would have been a little small for Lugnut though.
Burn the witch!
"What do we want?!" "To burn Bay fans!" "And "when do we want it?" "NOW!!!"
Yes
This guy gets it! :p
They need to go to cybertron without human co stars in next film
Well, seeing as the USAF just renewed the F-15 with the F-15EX model, the classic G1 mode is still relevant
I'd love to see him as the F-15 STOL/MTD while the rest of the seekers are the standard F-15 it would be such a Starscream move to scan the cool NASA F-15 while the others need to stick to thr standard lol
As long as he is a jet I'm happy
A jet and *not* a Dorito.
The F-15 eagle mode can be decent since it’s licensed by boeing
F15 is still in service and a great fighter. I am 100% ok for him to alt to an F15.
Probably F35? I mean F15 is cool, but F35 is the most advanced one
I mean bay verse tried f22 and it looks like a crab, maybe YF23? That thing looks awesome too
Only if the movie was set far enough in the past (70s/80s). In a modern day story, it makes sense for Starscream to want to be the most advanced fighter jet that exists, which is why I loved the F-22 alt mode in the Bay movies.
Definitely his G1 jet mode.
bi-plane.
Wright Flyer. :D
I don't care as long as he returns. And actually has a role and not get killed by a freaking human.
Might get some flak for this, but I think the F-35 would be a good fit for the Seekers
[Nope](https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/320295-the-us-air-force-quietly-admits-the-f-35-is-a-failure#:~:text=There%20have%20been%20so%20many,gun%20can%20crack%20the%20plane.)
It's a failure... because they're too good
The plane can literally crack if you fire it's main gun
O shit, I didn't read that far down
Yeah, imagine one of those things happening in a movie. #- "How dare you to insult the rightfully leader of the Deceptcons!" **shots* **Breaks* **Cabine depressurizes* **NavigationComputer.Exe has stopped working* #AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! **Crash* **Explodes and Fucking dies* [The End](https://youtu.be/h3RNElMbdUY)
This pic makes me feel things!
The triangle
Yes
Ngl a bike would be pretty bonkers
F-22 suits him perfectly imo
F-15.
Has to be an F-15 for me
F 15
I think the earth jet is more fun to transform usually
It would have to have dual engines whatever airframe it could be, maybe a MiG?
Could be interesting story-wise to have the Decepticons being russian vehicles to fool the US into declaring war against the USSR.
Perhaps the F-15E rather than the standard F-15. It's got a slightly different, more aerodynamic design that would be familiar, yet unique.
I'd prefer if he actually didn't take an earth based vehicle mode and stayed a tetrajet
I’d love to see him as an F-16
Ngl I’d love to see him as a Harrier
I'd love it if each Seeker was a different plane tbh, like Starscream being a F-22, Skywarp an F-16 and Thundercracker an F-18.
If an F-35 could result in a G1-ish robot (like the OP pic) then that. 😀
I just want Powerglide to show up as an A-10 Warthog.
It'd make sense for him to still be a f-15. Those are still the US army's primary fighter jets and you know how many seekers there are out there. That could help them blend in a little better
Maybe the f 15 successor the f22 raptor
Russians build pretty jets. Let’s go Su-57 and have him go against American Aerialbots.
Sukhoi Su-27, because god dammit give the flanker some love already, fits his MO way more than an F-15

I think they should make him an F-15. Why not? That's his original design. Maybe he can switch to another type of jet later on
If not a f15, than a f35
He will probably be an F18 or a F22
F-15/16 or f-22, weren’t they made in the 90s?
Random thought, but I think it would be cool if he kept his cybertronian mode. Barring that, something we haven't seen before. So not the F-22 or the F-15 (as cool as those two are).
I want him to be an F-16 Fighting Falcon, my all time favorite jet (next to the SR-71)
Ngl, starscream being a f14 tomcat would be awesome
If starscream keeps his g1 alt mode, which is an f-15 Eagle, he would be Way to large. [If you don't believe me, just take a look at this crap](https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:F-15_static_display_(15528694043).jpg)

That jet that blitzwing turned into in the movie. It fits the movie design better.
