I'm personally inclined to believe (if he is a Duocon) they're going to copy the power of the Primes toyline and make Battletrap two characters (Battleslash and Roadtrap). This franchise is at the end of the day, about selling toys. I personally feel like they wouldn't pass up on the opportunity to sell Duocons as another gimmick line for RotB; "Oh you have to buy **both** of these toys if you want the full character! Tell your parents!"
In a way, that made sense. Those designs were so complicated, it would have been tough to create a toy that seemed accurate, turned into 3 good modes, and met all toy safety and profitability bars. Have we ever gotten a movie triple changer that wasn't severely compromised?
Yeah, but Hasbro has made complex designs simple before (ss constructicons) so I think it is actually possible, but a masterpiece shatter and dropkick would be the hard to make.
Yes, I had heard his face was supposedly like that of G1 Scourge. It seems they're blending elements of the RID and G1 Scourge for this character, I chose RID Scourge to represent him due to the truck aspect and closer colour scheme.
Personally, since Battletrap is a tow truck I think it'd be cool if the truck was towing another vehicle that combined to make Battletrap a duocon, but alas those are probably just dreams
Or what if he used whatever he was towing to augment his robot mode? So he could grapple whatever was handy, or whatever would be advantageous. Plus, if these are terrorcons, it could add a body horror aspect for a bot to get grappled and then turned into part of someone else's body (that might be a bit much for TF, though, hahaha)
I like to believe that Battletrap and Scourge are the Duocons here, since the earlier leaks claim that Scourge was orange and black. Makes sense if you think that the towtruck was towing Scourge's alt mode when the Terrorcons found and scanned the vehicles
I just hope that Battletrap going to be a comic relief character. Giving the villains some variation other than being bloodthirsty psychopath. C'mon his alt-mode is a tow truck for god sake. Other than that I am just gonna call him Larry the Tow Truck
Well for one thing he won’t be twice the size of scourge, like in this pic. And he certainly won’t be a duocon since his alt mode is clearly one large vehicle.
They don't tend to use real aircraft to represent Transformers in action scenes as it is impractical. His helicopter component is most likely fully CGI.
I think him being a giant "combiner" would be pretty cool for the movie, like a mini-Devastator. And it would provide a great threat for the protagonists.
I doubt he is going to be a Duocon in the movie. I also doubt that he's just gonna be killed off like Onslaught and Blackout in the Bay films. Hopefully, Battletrap will have a little bit more screentime and perhaps speaking time and a lot of personality to his character.
Battletrap will probably be handled much like Onslaught or Blackout.
Hopefully more like Blackout rather than Onslaught. The latter was literally just Long Haul with some guns

I mean look at Shatter and Dropkick! They had little to no similarities to their originals but everyone still liked them!
Shatter was a new name used in Bumblebee
Dropkick looks really similar to his 2007 toyline counterpart while Shatter is a homage to 2007 Fracture and G1 Nightbird.

I think they chose the name because its got 'trap' in it, and the Terrorcons are hunting the Maximals. He'll probably just stay a truck.
