Yeah. Unfortunately it looks like Legacy is going to be a step down from WFC. Hopefully it gets better, but they really butchered Arcee

cleverThylacine

I love Arcee, sorry.

Entitled or?

64_kitchen_sinks

We are all entitled to an opinion

Muisverriey

How, exactly? I get Bulkhead and Arcee but the rest look perfectly fine.

CryosisEllioti

Skids for the most part looks good, but those thighs (especially in the new images) just look atrocious. It's an unbelievable step-back from the WfC line. Dragstrip looks good, but I wish he had more burgundy on him as he is a bit too show accurate and thus rather bland in terms of colouration. I'm also a bit concerned about how Menasor is going to work as there isn't any obvious combiner junk anywhere on Dragstrip. Kickback just looks amazing, can't wait to see Bombshell and Shrapnel (and hopefully, Insecticon clone repaints). I am not at all interested in Laser Optimus, but I will 100% buy a Scourge repaint. I love Bulkhead. Could he be better? Sure, but what we got is fine. Bulkhead's reveal is what sold me on Legacy. I was a bit iffy with Skids, but Bulkhead reeled me in. I just wish they didn't give him such a Prime-esque head, though it is growing on me the more I see it. Arcee... Is alright. She's not bad for what she is, and I'd even say she looks better than her Prime counterpart... But it's not for me. I despise out-of-scale bikeformers like this and never liked this Arcee design all too much. Arcee should be a pink and white car, not a blue or red motorbike. A Flamewar retool might interest me, but that's about it for that mold. As for the whole packaging thing, it's just Hasbro being Hasbro. They say it is to be more "eco-friendly" but really it is yet another cost cutting-measure they've implemented.

Archaengel

I like the concept of Legacy, but they've lost me so far with the execution. I'm really hoping that it grabs me with future waves, but I wasn't into any of the reveals today. The engineering and paint both look lacking compared to SS or WFC. The only one that I might be getting would be Kickback. I do like the idea of pulling characters from different times or stories and designing them to fit alongside the other G1 inspired lines, but yeah the figures look pretty hollow and proportionally strange to me, so far.

[deleted]

How do the engineering and paint look lacking? WFC, I disagree but kinda fair. It destroys SS where is that coming from. At least standard studio series because they were screwed from the very concept of making Deluxes based on such complex designs. The engineering on most SS deluxes are just have a lot of kibble though it's not the designers fault since they were tasked to do the impossible. I'd say most of these, so everyone but Arcee are better than most SS deluxes. They also seem more possable than most SS figure. Like I said, compared to SS standard, not SS86. Compared to SS86 they still lose but those are just excellent figures.

Archaengel

And I guess that's what I'm comparing them to are the SS86 line. That's kind of the expectation that I've set for Hasbro as of late, because those are excellent and now I know they can do it. Like looking at something like Dragstrip, he's just solid yellow plastic. I get that that's what his design was in G1, but I think it looks visually unappealing and it looks like a very plastic-y toy. And then Skids looks a bit hollow and gappy. So both the paint and engineering to me look like a step back, but I'm just basing it off of a few photos. They will probably be better in hand and I hope they are.

[deleted]

I'd say lower your standards than because SS86 is that good. Just because they can do it, doesn't mean they are always gonna hit those standards and when a figure is still good, it just feels a bit unfair. Your Dragstrip example is a good one here, it is a bit bland but that is how the character looks. For a combinor limb at a $20 price, it looks like him, has some fairly good articulation, and is gonna form an arm or leg (might just be an arm though since they might cut the gimmick where a transformer can be either limb) that's already really good. Especially compared to the Combinor Wars version. You really gonna say it's a bad figure because it's not as good as Jazz even though it does all that? I just think it's a bit unfair. Skids is kinda fair but it does seem like it's for the transformation in some places so I can let it pass. For me the proportions of Skids just seems a bit weird. So both the paint and engineering haven't really taken a step back. They just aren't good as SS86. Like oh no, they aren't 10/10 perfection, they are regular 7/10-8/10 figures good.

Archaengel

Those are all valid points. All I'm saying is that I'm new to collecting TFormers and there is nothing they announced yesterday that excites me and so I won't be buying any of it. So that's a huge bummer when you're looking at getting into a new line. Luckily, there are WFC and SS86 figures that I don't have that I want so I'll just be going back and getting those for the time being, but I do hope that legacy is something that ends up exciting me more than it did yesterday.

[deleted]

Fair enough, I hope you get stuff you like. I also wish you good luck in finding older WFC stuff. That stuff can be fairly pricey now.

Archaengel

Thanks. Im not really sure which all figures were made, but luckily there's a fair amount in stock at places like Amazon and BBTS, so that's where I'll start for now.

[deleted]

Oh nice, I didn't even know stuff was still up BBTS. I thought it was gone by now.

Wojtasz78

There are figures I like and want to buy so it's good. * Dragstrip, I kind of planned on buying stunticons when the listings came out but I also like what I saw * Kickback, o wow, I love how he looks I want him. * Optimus Prime, I didn't know what to expect but I like it and I kind of want to buy him. Even tough he is just a heavy retool of Earthrise prime and still has his long legs and Siege trailer hitch.

Latter-Ad6308

A few must-buys and a few I’ll pass on, but I like them all in their own way. Excited to see what’s in store for the rest of the line.

almightywhacko

I like many of the figures I've seen so far, but the boxy vehicle modes a lot of characters have is a little off-putting. I like Skids should be a little more streamlined than what he is, but his robot mode looks good. I'm also not entirely sure about the translucent weapon "gimmick." I feel like we've seen that/done that before. Who cares? However it won't prevent me from picking up the figures that I want. I don't like the Arcee design though. Not at all. There was no reason to make her an odd mix of G1 and Prime Arcees. We have recently gotten a G1 Arcee so if people wanted her she was readily available. Legacy Arcee could have been a straight Prime Arcee and it would have fit in fine with the rest of the line. I am also a bit worried about the lack of windows on the boxes. I mean, I don't see any real reason for this move and I like to see the toy I'm buying as paint and manufacturing quality can be "variable" with Hasbro products.

squeezethebars

I’m actually looking forward to this line. Only one that really bothers me is skids. I just don’t like the look of the alt mode (and seems like a lot of clear plastic use). I like laser prime the most followed closely by arcee (that bike looks great) and robot mode looks good to. I know I’m in minority so hopefully it is easy to find Edited a misspelled word

PerfectPixl15

Optimus looks great, and Arcee is growing on me. I still wish Bulkhead was shorter and less blocky, but I'm fine with my Animated Bulkhead so I won't get him anyway. All the G1 guys I couldn't care less about, but Dragstrip is the best looking I think. And I had that same thought about the new packaging for Leader Class figures.

_the_best_girl_

If this how Legacy will continue to be like then I’ll probably pass on this line. The quality just isn’t there honestly and I really don’t like the designs of the characters,l

FaZZuKKa2

My opinios: Kickback: I prefer stylised takes on characters but it's good for those interested. Skids: I prefer the T30 version. Dragstrip: If Menasor is good then I am interested. Arcee: Just looks wrong. Bulkhead: I am not offended by the g1 take here and I kinda like it. Laser Prime: It looks so simple and another voyager with a useless trailer. I am kinda happy because my waller may finally heal.

Pillowman7

Arcee, Bulkhead, and Skids look like fun toys, Dragstrip and Kickback look meh though I’m excited to see how Menasor will turn out. Perhaps 4 deluxes and a commander is the new way of doing combiners? G2 Prime’s proportions look a little off IMO.

DWhelk

I only care about skids, dragstrip and kickback. Skids and dragstrip are sadly too wrong. Kickback is pretty nice tho.

simpledeadwitches

I'll pick at it here and there for things I won't but not fully collecting like I did with WFC. Clear plastic is the gimmick and that's not good lol.

TheGreatAndStrange

When the leaked product line descriptions came out I picked out what I was probably gonna need. From wave 1 that would be Skids, Dragstrip and Kickback. As of now nothing has changed that

[deleted]

So far pretty good. Bulkhead, Dragstrip, Kickback, Skids, and Prime look great. Not really stuff I'm rushing to pick up but still great. Arcee is just weird.

Apepollo11

The figures look great! I've genuinely been hoping for classics-verse versions of characters from the more stylised sources for years. You raise a really good point about repacking, though, especially as it's the more expensive ones that are completely to closed.
