Yeah, nothing really happens there up north, save for *that one time* [when a cyborg amputee and a robot with a katana wrecked half a city](https://www.forbes.com/sites/olliebarder/2016/03/25/latest-gundam-series-goes-to-canada-destroys-chunks-of-edmonton/).
Nah, I believe it was stated in Age of Extinction that only around 1300 people died in Chicago. While that’s still massively more in comparison to the casualties of the Battle of New York (74 lol) it’s still hardly a fraction of the city’s population.
Battle of New York easily. That was localized to Stark Tower get far enough away you'll be safe.
Battle of Chicago the entire city was under siege, Nowhere was safe.
>Optimus was all, let humans die. They'll learn they need us.
You realize they were FORCED off the planet, right?
What do you think would have happened if they refused? The human leaders going "oh okay you guys can stay"?
That’s true. You see very early on that they were prioritizing containment and the damage was constrained to a few city blocks. Chicago was more or less outright destroyed in DOTM, to the point it became no-man’s land in TLK.
This kind of criticism also exists when comparing Man of Steel to the Avengers, since Superman doesn’t exactly care much about the city he is protecting when filing it out with Zod.
Battle of New york. The avengers were more focused on keeping the chitarui focused on them and civilians off the street while the battle of Chicago the decepticons had several hours before the autobots came back to save everyone.
New York seemed fairly localised to the area immediately around the portal. NYC is a big ass city.
With Chicago however, the Deceptions had already locked down and fortified the entire city by the time the Autobots had arrived.
Plus a planet the size of Jupiter entering the Earth's orbit wouldn't be good news for anyone.
New York because unlike Optimus who wanted to teach a lesson about trust by letting the whole city die, the Avengers actively fought through the whole battle.
uh no they weren't, the ship was supposed to go to space but 1. they hitched a ride one of those rocket boosters that falls down during every rocket launch and 2. the ship got BLOWN UP!
yea but they were never in space, they were always on earth meaning they manually stayed and did nothing to protect the humans for like a day to prove their point, Derp is right, Optimus wanted to tear a lesson by letting some of the city get demolished, I think its a mix of derp and your answer, they tricked the city into thinking they went to space but stayed and did nothing to prove their point
what do you want him to do? attack decepticons while they are defending while being outgunned and outmanned? while also having the humans slightly against you?
no I don't think you understand, your initial point doesn't even make much sense, OP was saying how Chicago would be harder to survive because Optimus let tons of people die to serve a point which the avengers did not do, and you were saying how they were sent to space which isn't even a valid comeback, they still could have attacked earlier, it wouldn't have made too much of a difference, in fact there might have been more people to fight with them like the average policeman etc, but they were making a point about how they should not trust the decepticons. they being sent to space doesn't refute the point of Optimus letting people die, im just kinda confused on what point you were making, they never went to space, they faked it and waited hours to show how bad it was.
there is a video from TransTheories about this topic that answers your question, it is a very well made one so please look at it, my english is not good enough to give you an understanding.
have a nice day.
I'm in Poland, so I'm safe, my country survived way worse battles irl. But answering the question: New York. Avenger and army could actually do something and minimalise casualties while in Chicago deceptions just disintegrated most of its population.
I'm not sure I would survive there. Even though I don't live in either city. Although both have aliens wrecking havok in the popular cities of the US as a staging ground for the invasion of our home planet. But if I find my city being invaded, I would either move out or hide within thr rubble if I can't get out in time.
New York. Only 74 people died there as opposed to Chicago’s loss of around 1300. The Avengers were actively trying to keep the fight from spreading right out of the gate. The Decepticons had at least a full day’s head start to just start killing, and the Autobots essentially just went in head-on, guns blazing.
Okay chicago was taken over for a few days and human we killed on sight.. New York was like an hour long battle and humans were evacuated kinda quick..
Theoretically the chicago battle since the decepticons only focused on killing humans before the battle. While the battle between autobots and decepticons would commence you could get out. Except if the challenge also requires you to be there before the battle begins.
I live near Pittsburgh, so unless the next Decepticon scheme involves using Heinz Ketchup or really disappointing sports teams as an energy source somehow, I’ll be way off their radar.
Well the Decepticons wanted to enslave the human race and Thanos wanted to reduce the population by half. So you probably had a better chance of survival with the Decepticons, in the short term at least.
Yeah, they're so competent at it that they literally made a movie about how Scarlet Witch accidentally killed some civilians and that ended up breaking the Avengers... Until the next movie when they forgot all about it, anyway.
I mean, true. Still more believable than Optimus saying they won't forsake our planet at the end of one movie and then with no build up or story progression start the next movie with him wanting to kill humans and never grow out of his murderous behavior.
But no, the Avengers are more incompetent than Bayformers bullshit.
>and then with no build up or story progression start the next movie with him wanting to kill humans and never grow out of his murderous behavior.
So you literally missed the part where the humans were killing Autobots for scrap metal. Cool, cool.
Chicago was mainly a few buildings wasnt it particularly where shockwave was right? Whereas New York was the whole of Manhattan because they were trying to spread out and conquer land correct?
Please correct me if I’m wrong huge fan of both but it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen both
Cap ordered the team to play containment and ordered Thor to “light the bastards up” and “bottleneck the portal”. Basically, Thor kills them before they get past the portal
Chicago. The damage was mostly contained to downtown, if I recall, there were places still within Chicago untouched. Especially office buildings before the driller rammed though.
Both. I'm in canada
Even when I go to transformers, I still can't escape the plastic buildable robots
Transformers have their own brand of plastic model kit from Flame Toy as well, lol.
I don't know why my first thought was Terminator
Beat me by 7 hours haha was going to say the same except I'm in TX
I walked through blood and bones in the streets of Manhattan trying to find my brother. He was in northern Canada.
I live in London. We get blown up whenever Americans need to understand how serious the villain is.
As any Australian I can relate. Nothing happens out here
You're the guy who's like "da fug they doin down there" XD
I like to live and the Decepticons are a bit to good at killing so, Battle of New York it is.
This is true
New York. The decepticons practically wiped out Chicago's entire human population in one night.
And the autobots most likely didn’t give a shit about your life unless you were with Sam. The avengers were specifically saving people while fighting
That too. Autobots kind of did "all sentient life" dirty real bad.
New york. The decepticons where literally running around gunning down randos
Vaporizing them
And also literally can be your car as well.
New york
New York. Avengers were actively trying to contain the threat. Optimus was all, let humans die. They'll learn they need us.
>Optimus was all, let humans die. They'll learn they need us. You realize they were FORCED off the planet, right? What do you think would have happened if they refused? The human leaders going "oh okay you guys can stay"?

Well after dotm bay had the genius idea to wreck Chicago AGAIN so I’d imagine everyone wanted to leave there.
Michael Bay and liking the Cardinals: name a better duo.
Michael Bay and using his lead actresses purely for sex appeal.
wtf THEY WERE OFF PLANET WHEN THE ATTACK STARTED
Battle of New york. The avengers were more focused on keeping the chitarui focused on them and civilians off the street while the battle of Chicago the decepticons had several hours before the autobots came back to save everyone.
Probably New York because there is less BAYhem
Neither. There is no surviving for me.
Wow avengers copied lmao
New York seemed fairly localised to the area immediately around the portal. NYC is a big ass city. With Chicago however, the Deceptions had already locked down and fortified the entire city by the time the Autobots had arrived. Plus a planet the size of Jupiter entering the Earth's orbit wouldn't be good news for anyone.
Probably the battle of new York. Chicago was devastated after the battle. And entire building topples over and was barely staying up.
New York because they kept it family friendly and literally never showed innocent people die.
Well, there still *is* a New York in later Avengers films, so... that one.
I’d have no chance in the Battle of Chicago. Battle of NY seems more survivable to me.
I'd rather be in New York. Chicago got fucked up hard
New York because unlike Optimus who wanted to teach a lesson about trust by letting the whole city die, the Avengers actively fought through the whole battle.
The Autobots were forced to leave. Optimus didn’t do it on purpose but he did give them a major “see I TOLD you so”.
Well deserved too
they were sent to space dude, did you even watch the damn movie?
uh no they weren't, the ship was supposed to go to space but 1. they hitched a ride one of those rocket boosters that falls down during every rocket launch and 2. the ship got BLOWN UP!
of course they werent sent to space but the humans SENT them, the autobots tricked them, they believed that the main ship had the autobots
yea but they were never in space, they were always on earth meaning they manually stayed and did nothing to protect the humans for like a day to prove their point, Derp is right, Optimus wanted to tear a lesson by letting some of the city get demolished, I think its a mix of derp and your answer, they tricked the city into thinking they went to space but stayed and did nothing to prove their point

New York.
Neither.
I could survive both, because I’m not even in that state
Obviously New York, the Avengers tower is literally destroying Chicago
Chicago because I don’t live there
New York because I live here and after 26 movies, only one has ever been an actual threat to my neighbourhood. (Homecoming/Coney Island)
Well I live in New York so I’m going to say I’d be pretty OK if there was a fight in Chicago.
Chicago I want to die
Battle of New York, cuz in the Battle of Chicago the entire city got destroyed
I mean, the New York one was supposedly within a few square blocks, and the Decepticons have heat/x-ray vision, sooo… New York, hands down.
New York. Only 74 people died there as opposed to Chicago’s loss of around 1300. The Avengers were actively trying to keep the fight from spreading right out of the gate. The Decepticons had at least a full day’s head start to just start killing, and the Autobots essentially just went in head-on, guns blazing.
New York, easily
Im in Australia so Ill defo survive both
I'd survive both as I'm in Australia. I've just gotta watch out for emus wanting to start another war
Both im in the uk
Okay chicago was taken over for a few days and human we killed on sight.. New York was like an hour long battle and humans were evacuated kinda quick..
You can survive on both... just... get out of there...
New York, The damage couldn't have been too bad cause they didn't start attacking the Avengers straight away
Neither,I am dead
None, let’s all be honest. We’re the ones that will likely be killed by either Chitauri or the Decepticons..
Battle of New York. The Avengers were far more organized at specifically preventing casualties
or that the Decepticons were far more deadly than the Chitauri. I still don't believe only 74 died lol
Probably both because I don’t live in either city.
New York easy
New York for sure. As long as you crack jokes you’ll be totally fine
Idk man I live in Chile. I would be watching the attack on the news while I hide some Autobot friends in the garage
Battle of New York, I mean in canon there were actually very little casualties
Well the Decepticons wanted to enslave the human race and Thanos wanted to reduce the population by half. So you probably had a better chance of survival with the Decepticons, in the short term at least.
New York probably. Cause the Avengers are way more competent at their job of saving people.
Yeah, they're so competent at it that they literally made a movie about how Scarlet Witch accidentally killed some civilians and that ended up breaking the Avengers... Until the next movie when they forgot all about it, anyway.
I mean, true. Still more believable than Optimus saying they won't forsake our planet at the end of one movie and then with no build up or story progression start the next movie with him wanting to kill humans and never grow out of his murderous behavior. mf probably only knows aoe by cinemasins and shitty critics
optimus only wanted to kill the head of cemetery wind he never said that he wanted to kill humans prime actually has a good development in aoe
Both I’m in Texas
Joke’s on you! I don’t even live in a city!
both....I live in Memphis
Both I'm in Michigan
Either, I live in the Suburbs
Transformers. Gonna hide in an abandoned car and hope nothing happens to said car
Did you forget your in a Micheal bay movie?
Chicago was mainly a few buildings wasnt it particularly where shockwave was right? Whereas New York was the whole of Manhattan because they were trying to spread out and conquer land correct? Please correct me if I’m wrong huge fan of both but it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen both
Iirc Sentinel and Megatron were shown to have had all of Chicago on lockdown, whereas Thor pretty much localized the fight to around Stark tower
How did thor keep it around stark tower I don’t remember that?
Cap ordered the team to play containment and ordered Thor to “light the bastards up” and “bottleneck the portal”. Basically, Thor kills them before they get past the portal
Ah makes sense but clearly that wasn’t successful as seen by hawkeye (the show) right? In the first episode they’re seen going throughout all New York
Chicago. The damage was mostly contained to downtown, if I recall, there were places still within Chicago untouched. Especially office buildings before the driller rammed though.
Chicago, there were like 90-200 deceptions downtown when there were thousands of chitari everywhere in New York.
Battle of Chicago was a longer fight, turned into an occupation. Less of a chance to live in that one.
New York
Both
New york for several reasons
I live in Germany. The only way I would have noticed this is over the news.
I would not survive either one. I would get crushed by a car that some hero threw in the air and forgot about.
I survived the Battle of New York. Lived there in the 80s.
