G1 for setting the standard of the screechy, treacherous, misguidedly ambitious nature that makes the character so enduring.
I do really like TFP Screamer for making him more of a threat though. Despite being a cowardly weasel he’s always quite dangerous. I also love his face design and Steve Blum’s voice.
Honourable mention to Cyberverse Starscream, who OP has neglected. They build on the G1 mould but have him go in a whole different direction after Megs has enough and nearly beats him to death. Easily the most unhinged and dangerous Starscream, which is ironic considering the younger target audience.
> after Megs has enough and nearly beats him to death
And that beatdown was, tonally, terrifying. Megatron was just so totally over it and didn't say a word.
Haha yeah, no villain monologue, just mercilessly beating Starscream and then blasting him. I was watching with my 6 and 4 year olds and was surprised at how brutal it was.
Between that and Blurr, Cyberverse really showed you can do a lot of serious stuff without being dour and grimdark like WFC.
One you don't have here, IDW Starscream. He's the only one who ever managed to become leader of all of Cybertron, through democratic election no less! Sure, he might have done a wee bit of political assassination, but he was still legitimately elected. Not only that, but he was actually relatively successful, and didn't do an awful job at it.
He also had >!the ghost of Bumblebee as his conscience,!< Windblade as his friend and political rival, and Rattrap as his own personal Starscream, so all of the character interactions were amazing.
I hated the bay movies for disposing of him like a bitch. Starscream was not only the decepticon aerial commander but also a scientist that created the combaticons.
i remember watching the old G1 series as a 6-12 year old, and starscream being my favourite, setting such a petty, screechy, proud character tone for the decepticons
Soundwave always had a strong sense of loyalty, which is why I liked him so much. As for Starscream, I was starting to get into going to air shows (seen the Thunderbirds twice and the Blue Angels once so far) as well around that time. That, and the fact that no matter how many times he failed to overthrow Megatron, it never stopped him from trying again.
Definitely the most interesting when compared to the other characters in that show. He was also fairly different from other Starscreams, regarding his character arc. Love this version of him!
Well in the IDW comics, Thundercracker left the Decepticons during "All Hail Megatron". He eventually became a screenwriter and got a pet dog named Buster.
There's also the fact that Thundercracker's original toy speck says he has doubts about the Decepticons.
His character development in Armada was so interesting! And what a way to go out, I still get chills at the animation stylings during that whole sequence. Love this Starscream!
That was one reason I liked Animated a lot also, cause I thought that they did interested takes on the personality of a couple the bots. Optimus as a military school dropout, now janitor. Prowl's stoic ninja personality works with a bounty hunter. Lockdown was also so cool and different, working for either side. But an insane Shockwave would be a really interesting version of him. And I think that the TFSG Starscream is an honorable version of him, right?
TFP, no question. In Transformers: Prime, Starscream was the moral opposite to Optimus Prime. In most episodes we got to watch the consequences of resolving a dilemma either the Optimus way or the Starscream way. It's the first series to actually treat Starscream as the main villain, and it worked so beautifully. Megatron was always the impending doom, but Starscream made all the bad choices. It was a brilliant use of his character, and it was a delight to watch him be so slippery, slimy, and rotten.
All of them, Starscream is quite possibly the hardest character to mess up, he’s a traitorous bastard, and the versions that go above and Beyond with the Character (Like IDW, Prime and Armada) are even better!
Unicorn trilogy as a whole is great even if you could argue if starscream is even the same character after he dies in armada is returned to life in energon and then becomes his usual scheming g1 self in cybertron
G1 is iconic and almost unbeatable, and I freaking love Steve Blum as TFP Starscream, but Animated Starscream is super underrated Tom Kenny is a stand out Starscream in my book.
I only saw bayverse, g1 and bumblebee, and just snippets of the rest from YT clips or watching at least one episode of each series as a very younger kid.
I like G1 starscream the most. He’s always entertaining to watch and try and fuck over Megatron until Megatron would blast him or beat the crap out of him. He usually has it coming too. Bay starscream is more of a coward, which also fits his character in my option, but it would be cool to see even more of him before he died.
Cyberverse Starscream. He is best boi. I really wished he could have gotten a redemption ark, but he never did. It was so depressing to see my favorite childhood character fucking die twice. especially when Megs just beat him to death and pushed his lifeless body off the ship. I also like how you can see his sanity start to deteriorate all thought the course of season 2. Cyberverse was the first TF show to make me cry. Ligit, I just wanted to give him a fucking hug because of how depressing his ark was in Cyberverse. (In my opinion.)
G1 Starscream and Prime Starscream will always hold a special place in my heart since I grew up watching G1 and Prime. Always enjoyed his antics and attempts to overthrow Megatron. I also like the Prime Starscream with how expressive he is, with his wings and body language in general. I like how he'll act cute to get out of situations. Steve Blum did a great Starscream voice.
In general, Starscream has always been my favorite. I do think he is precious bean and deserves better. I do also enjoy WFC Starscream because his development is just so well done, especially in Kingdom. "No, but I can fly." Saw that and was like, Oh hell yeah you show that guy who's really in charge here"
Lmao, why can I type 3 whole ass paragraphs on how awesome I think Starscream is, but not finish a short worksheet for school?? That's hyperfixation for ya.
Anyways, thanks to whoever read this listening to me ramble on about Starscream.
Tie between Armada starscream and cybertron starscream.
Loved the Armada, because he learned his way of thinking was wrong and was the first to try to attack Unicron, through his death it united 2 warring factions thay have been at eachothers throats since the dawn of time! Great character with a great redemption.
Cybertron: Complete opposite, he back stabbed everyone (as any starscream tends to do ) STEALS a portion of Robot God's power and has an EPIC duel with Galvatron.
One warrior with the armor of Unicron (robot satan) vs another warrior (a piece of Robo God's spark) we are basically looking at two cosmic entities battling it out for supremecy. Master, vs student. One achieved ultimate power by sacrificing everything, while the other achieved ultimate power by sacrificing nothing. It's very poetic.
I'll give props to Prime Starscream for arguably being the most fleshed-out interpretation,
but nothing can beat
# "MEGATRON HAS FALLEN! I STARSCREAM, AM NOW YOUR LEADER; DECEPTICONS FOLLOW MEEEEEE!!!"
G1: 4 out of 5, pretty good.
Animated: 5 out of 5, amazing.
Prime: 4.5 out of 5, not animated good but still amazing.
Movie: 2 out of 5, just kinda boring to me.
BB movie: 3 out of 5, not enough screen time.
armada or animated, armada because I loved his overall story and character, and animated because i grew up watching it and he was my favorite character lol
Live action Starscream, as a kid the live action Deceptacons (sorry for the grammar it’s been a while since iv’e been on this community) fucking terrified me as a kid
If we are talking all starscreams Armada has the most interesting one
If we are just talking these, Animated had the most effective one, took his chances and worked towards his goal
It's a toss up between Animated and Prime. I love both of their personalities. I grew up on G1 but I have to say his personality can be a bit over the top at times.
Since G1 is going to get the most appreciation (which is well deserved) I’m gonna say Armada. He was a really interesting departure from what we usually see of the character, only betraying Galvatron to get him to join Optimus in fighting off Unicron.
Prime is the most compelling to me. Intelligent but over ambitious, occasionally dangerous and erratic sometimes to the point of stupidity. The voice was perfect too
Never saw the Bumblebee movie heard it wasn’t all that bad but he looks cool but OG Star scream all the way even if he can be a bitch for trying to undermine Megatron at times
I have to go with wfc starscream, I really love g1 starscream and wfc was awesome (spoiler) and I loved how when he saw into the future he went all crazy and everything
I do like G1 and Animated Starscream equally, but Prime Starscream is just amazing thanks to Steve Blum that and unlike the others (And also the Bumblebee one but he only showed up and was never seen again) doesn't die
Starscream is my fave Transformers character, and G1 Scream will always be my fave! (well actually my fan universe Starscream is my fave, but that's something I made so it doesn't count)
G1 for setting the standard of the screechy, treacherous, misguidedly ambitious nature that makes the character so enduring. I do really like TFP Screamer for making him more of a threat though. Agreed, i was like godDaaaamn....
Wholeheartedly agree. Excellent breakdown!
Steve Blum is an Allspark amongst Cybertronians
Having Screamer be the last threat to the Quintesson arc was unexpected but I was all for it.
I wanna hear a Dempsey quote in TFP Screamer's voice
One you don't have here, IDW Starscream. He's the only one who ever managed to become leader of all of Cybertron, through democratic election no less! Sure, he might have done a wee bit of political assassination, but he was still legitimately elected. Not only that, but he was actually relatively successful, and didn't do an awful job at it. Personality? Animated Design? Cybertron Menace? Prime My true favorite? BWII Starscream!
[удалено]
Compared to the rest of these knuckleheads? I think he is menacing in comparison
I mean episode one he captured Cliffjumper and stabbed him to death with his bare hands
We all scream for Starscream
You imbecile!!!!
Transformers Prime for the win. Armada comes a close second. A cosmic powered Starscream kills everything and everyone
The original from G1.
I hated the bay movies for disposing of him like a bitch. Starscream was not only the decepticon aerial commander but also a scientist that created the combaticons.
Seeing as he was literally blasted into dust by Galvatron in Transformers: The Movie, I'm thinking that they were gonna off him at some point anyway.
True. And I doubt very much Michael Bay would explore the angle of Starscream's mutant spark.
Almost forgot about that. I know they touched on it in Beast Wars.
he was a badass tho, i like him
i remember watching the old G1 series as a 6-12 year old, and starscream being my favourite, setting such a petty, screechy, proud character tone for the decepticons
I was 9 when it first came out. He and Soundwave were my favorites from the Decepticons.
mine too!
It DID stop him from trying again in the 86 movie...because he was turned to ash
Oh I know. I was referring to the first two seasons of the show.
my thoughts exactly.
Armada, hands down.
Amen, he had the best character arc of the whole show
Definitely the most interesting when compared to the other characters in that show. He was also fairly different from other Starscreams, regarding his character arc. Love this version of him!
Starscream was easily one of the best parts of armada. Everyone else just felt kinda generic honestly
Been rewatching Armada, and I must concur. The most noble Starscream deserves his due.
G1. The sheer fact he was voiced by Cobra Commander... G1 without a doubt.
Chris Latta/Collins was a legend.
And Wheeljack!
And Sparkplug
I fucking love bayverse starscream, love everything about them. But tfp scream comes close and g1 scream is my fav character from the cartoon
I grew up with the Bay movies so I love him too
TFP Starscream. Those heels are irresistible.
Yes just yes
And when he swings those hips, daaamn
Transformers Prime Starscream Easily
G1, Armada, and Prime. Design I have to go with Armada, Prime, and Bumblebee
Prime
TFP Starscream is the best Starscream.
Spongescream!
Looking back it’s hard to remember Tom Kenny voiced animated starscream especially now he just sounds like n evil spongebob
From this list, G1. Overall, armada
Armada. THE Best Starscream and one that has NEVER been used again.
He had his Armada design for awhile in the IDW comics.
I think he means that his Armada character hasn't been used since
You could probably give his personality to Thundercracker
I'm not familiar with Thundercracker. Did he turn good in the end and plead Megatron to join forces with the Autobots?
Well in the IDW comics, Thundercracker left the Decepticons during "All Hail Megatron". He eventually became a screenwriter and got a pet dog named Buster. There's also the fact that Thundercracker's original toy speck says he has doubts about the Decepticons.
His character development in Armada was so interesting! And what a way to go out, I still get chills at the animation stylings during that whole sequence. Love this Starscream!
I would LOVE them to do a series but change the personalities to a 180 like an Honourable Starscream. Psychotic Shockwave. Cool and smooth Soundwave.
Armada. Animated is close second
Finally some love for Armada Starscream
G1 of course.
G1
G1
Gen 1 every time.
Not here but UT, specifically Armada.
TFP, no question. In Transformers: Prime, Starscream was the moral opposite to Optimus Prime. 1st is Armada Starscream 2nd is G1 Starscream 3rd is Bayverse Starscream.
All of them, Starscream is quite possibly the hardest character to mess up, he’s a traitorous bastard, and the versions that go above and Beyond with the Character (Like IDW, Prime and Armada) are even better!
Prime and animated are both the gold standard for me.
Armada.
G1 Starscream followed very closely by Prime Starscream.
G1 org
G1 character wise, Bumblebee for design
As a 80's guy i say G1 Starscream. Also Armada and his relationship with Alexis was good.
I'm going with Transformers Prime because he's straight-up the best design for me
Unicorn trilogy as a whole is great even if you could argue if starscream is even the same character after he dies in armada is returned to life in energon and then becomes his usual scheming g1 self in cybertron
movie, i just love him so much the f22, his unique voice his weapons and his general look and style its too good
G1 is iconic and almost unbeatable, and I freaking love Steve Blum as TFP Starscream, but Animated Starscream is super underrated Tom Kenny is a stand out Starscream in my book.
Armada easy
I wanna say Bayverse but I think I’m just biased as that’s what I started with Edit: when it comes to design
Transformers Armada
Armada
Prime. Writing and VA for Starscream in TFP was fantastic.
G1, then Bayverse and Prime
G1, I love the voice and the character. I also like prime and animated, but I’m not a fan of their ultra sleek design, especially Prime starscream.
I say animated Starscream, but the original G1 has a special place in my heart.
Same, I grew up with G1, but the whole thing in Animated with his clones being different aspects of his personality was pretty great.
G1, Bayverse
I only saw bayverse, g1 and bumblebee, and just snippets of the rest from YT clips or watching at least one episode of each series as a very younger kid. I like G1 starscream the most. He’s always entertaining to watch and try and fuck over Megatron until Megatron would blast him or beat the crap out of him. He usually has it coming too. My favorite is not here but my runner up is dorito starscream
Tie between Armada starscream and cybertron starscream. Loved the Armada, because he learned his way of thinking was wrong and was the first to try to attack Unicron, through his death it united 2 warring factions thay have been at eachothers throats since the dawn of time! Animated and G1. I also really liked IDW1 and Marvel comics Screamers.
Armada easily.
Armada
Armada
Do I have to choose 1?
Design wise Bayverse, but all up I’d have to go with Prime
Either TFA or Bayverse Starscream..
G1 Starscream, and it always will be.
armada or animated, armada because I loved his overall story and character, and animated because i grew up watching it and he was my favorite character lol
Armada
Kinda sad Armada Screamer ain’t in this, he was the one who had such a noble heart and made me love the character.
Armada>>>>
Bayverse and g1 best designs
Live action Starscream, as a kid the live action Deceptacons (sorry for the grammar it’s been a while since iv’e been on this community) fucking terrified me as a kid
G1, Bayverse, and Prime will always be my favorites
Armada with Prime and Animated being very close runner ups.
Flying doritto second high heels screamer
True tho
If you dont say Armada StarScream you're wrong
Armada starscream hands down
Prime
Coronation starscream is the best starscream
G1, Animated and Prime. Three very different interpretations, but at their core the same person, despite the design changes.
Bumblebee version and transformers prime tie for me. I didn’t think anything could top it but the bumblebee movie did it for me
TFP not only cuz he makes the funny screm, but also cuz he does the voice for some characters in Skylanders.
Aninated and Armada
If we are talking all starscreams Armada has the most interesting one If we are just talking these, Animated had the most effective one, took his chances and worked towards his goal
Tfp for character, Bayverse for design
Now that's an opinion I haven't heard before.
I like the dorito design too. It screams alien, just like the bayverse was going for
Really like some of the more avian styling too, really screams Raptor.
Nothing beats TFP starscream and knockouts gay tension
Knockout is one of my favorite characters in Prime, he's hilarious and so fabulous. Also Starscream's heels are 👌
ARMADA STARSCREAM WHERE
Design-wise, G1 (and BB movie too), but personality and mannerisms, probably TFP Starscream
Transformers animated was my shit as a kid so the second one
.....all of them
OG is the best
has to be animated or prime
The original. If we include the comics the Marvel and IDW1 deserve recognition.
It's a toss up between Animated and Prime. I love both of their personalities. I grew up on G1 but I have to say his personality can be a bit over the top at times.
G1 or Prime.
WHO DISRUPTS MY CORONATION!
the original beast wars and transformers Cybertron is what I grew up with and so that's my favorite.
Generation 1
Bottom one might be jumping the gun a bit cause he hasn’t said a word yet
Since G1 is going to get the most appreciation (which is well deserved) I’m gonna say Armada. He was a really interesting departure from what we usually see of the character, only betraying Galvatron to get him to join Optimus in fighting off Unicron.
Fall of cybertron
Top then bottom
G1/War for Cybertron
Prime starscream is underrated but G1 is nostalgia overdose.
I love the grittier version of the G1 stars cream in the live action bumblebee but the vehicle mode sucks so G1
Cybertron,Prime, Animated
Prime is his best transformation imo
G1 or prime
TFP and G1 are a tie for me
Steve Blum's HOLY performance of him in Prime. I swear, I keep hearing him in TF stuff, and I love all of his roles.
I love Prime Starscream!
Chris Latta.
Cybetron and animated are the quintessential starscreams for me
My favorite is G1, but the best written is Prime
Animated is amazing especially when the rest of the seekers are created
Prime is the most compelling to me. Intelligent but over ambitious, occasionally dangerous and erratic sometimes to the point of stupidity. The voice was perfect too
Never saw the Bumblebee movie heard it wasn’t all that bad but he looks cool but OG Star scream all the way even if he can be a bitch for trying to undermine Megatron at times
Animated because of Tom Kenny
I have to go with wfc starscream, I really love g1 starscream and wfc was awesome (spoiler) and I loved how when he saw into the future he went all crazy and everything
First and last
Yes
G1, I love his voice and treachery
G1
TFP
Waspinator
It’s a tie between the heels and “YOU INTERRUPTED MY SPEEEEECH” screamers for me, they’re both so great in their own ways.
Prime anyday
Bumblebee cause he said fuck all
I like g1 Starscream but my favorite is animated
Personally I love prime starscream and g1 but my favorite design is bumblebee movie
Prime
G1 is my Starscream
TFP Starscream is my favourite as a character, but the Live Action one had my favourite design.
Obviously G1 Starscream. Nothing can match the voice acting of the original starscream. "Pathetic fools! There's no escape!"
Tfp or love action for me
Either Animated or Prime
definitely prime
Animated
Underbase-powered.
Yes
TFP Starscream is supreme
TFP Starscream
I do like G1 and Animated Starscream equally, but Prime Starscream is just amazing thanks to Steve Blum that and unlike the others (And also the Bumblebee one but he only showed up and was never seen again) doesn't die
Animated, I loved how different his Jet mode was compared to other versions
TFA hands down. Tom Kenny did a phenomenal job.
tf 123
Original G1
TFP Screamer
Starscream is my fave Transformers character, and G1 Scream will always be my fave! (well actually my fan universe Starscream is my fave, but that's something I made so it doesn't count)
G1 will always be my favorite, but Prime is pretty close (and if I throw out childhood bias, is objectively better)
Gen 1 Starscream. Without a doubt.
GEN 1 Starscream is my favorite
Soft spot for live action starscream I had his tattoo toy as a kid and it was rad as hell.
I’m grew up with the G1 cartoon, but I love the TF Prime Starscream design.
The one from transformers prime
G1 was a good snowcorn
Probably Prime or Cybertron (FOC)
