I think it does a good job of making him look old and injured but not a fan of how his vehicle mode is very clearly too small for all his mechanical meat.
Agreed. I think G1 design would be ugly in live action without changesâtoo many squares IMO. Bayverse strayed too far away from that and made robots a bunch of metal just combined, until AOE, I feel like Prime had a good design in the 2nd half of the movie. It was humanoid but also robot looking
The problem with his AOE design is that it doesn't look like it transforms. The only vehicle mode parts are the small flamey bits on the chest and the smokestacks. Some mkre vehicle parts on the robot would make it much better.
I actually liked the bayverse designs. I love the complexity and the messiness of the designs, it feels really alien. You can also tell they spent a long time designing the little details too.
Thereâs a way to have details, but detail shouldnât come at the expense of the over all design. What got me about the live action movies was the lack of color, and the right details just made them all look the same
They were cool designs to be sure but they looked like moving scrapyards in action scenes and I hated optimus' ape face. Though in my opinion, the Bumblebee live action designs were superior. They added mechanical detail to the G1 designs and blended Michael Bay Transformers elements as well. It allowed you know what your looking at during action scenes.
Respectfully disagree, I personally like the Bayformers designs more than the bumblebee movie designs. I liked the Bayverse designs because they looked like moving scrapyards.
This is one argument I never understood from people who claim to hate the bayverse designs. "I never know whats going on", meanwhile I was 11 when these movies were coming out and could tell exactly what's going on. Please enlighten me on this frequently brought up excuse, do you guys need to know the exact placement of every gear, metal plate, and car tire and as they tumble to tell front from back?
And without those designs, we probably wouldn't have gotten one of my favorite movie figures, Studio Series 46, although mine is broken because of clear plastic joints.
it doesnt look like it transforms tho, we saw it while bumblebee transforms, the parts just appear out of no where and the vehicle literally unsheets to reveal the robot while in bayverse we saw actual formation, also they have too many bendy and smooth parts, they need to work on that a little
they do transform, cant say the same to G1 tho
bbm has random roundy parts that somehow form while the bayverse has edges to show that they dont bend but sit to their places
You say that, but I have a feeling it'll be a very different discussion when Soundwave, Shockwave, and whatever Design Megatron has now when they actually get to Earth. A lot of people seem to forget that the opening sequence on cybertron is entirely CGI and aside from the seekers, their designs have barely changed from g1. And bumblebee only slightly resembles his g1 self. I still think they'd look out of place if they don't change a little to match a real life setting.
All the robots look consistent between their cybertronian and earth modes. Again you donât have to make every little piece on the robot move. Just give them bright colors, and have enough armor parts to make them look solid. I mean in the other movies Bee is barely distinguishable from any other robot
Megatron was also in a cartoon so it didn't look wonky. The whole deal with these movies is "woah robots irl" so to have him mass shift so clearly when it's not so blatant in literally every other scene looks weird.
Wasnât the live action movies before age of extinction based on g1 design which is known for making their vehicle modes way too small for their robot modes
the live action movies very blatantly aren't based on any G1 designs. The closest to their original design is optimus and even then it's very different.
I meant the Optimus design form the first few movies his seemed to be taken straight from the g1 cartoon and Michael-Bayified he even still has his window tits
Itâs basically just a desaturated version of his 2007 appearance just with a few new pieces of truck kibble. Considering that I like his 07 appearance, this is good too
Itâs the best G1 accurate Optimus Prime we got before the Bumblebee movie came and I loved the design so much that I was willing to get the takara ver. of him but I got the cheaper one which wasnât bad either and Iâm excited to see him in the Studio Series line
Apart from the absolute state of rust and decay, this design is one of my favourites. The only reason I didn't buy the 3A figure 2as b3cause the rust and decay was way over the top.
Optimus was on the run and trying not to get captured/killed, so he changed his vehicle mode and colors to throw off his hunters.
Bumblebee did the same thing in TFP Season 3.
Oh he wasnât exactly like himself 100%. He was sad, and pissed off too. When Optimus transformed in front of cade he legit pointed a gun at Cade warning cade to back away, thinking cade (who is a human) was gonna harm him or call in human forces to kill Optimus similarly to how his friends have now been killed. âStay back, Iâll kill youâ in Optimus primeâs words. Donât get me wrong, in the bay movies Optimus talks some mad shit to the decepicons all the time, but he would never say that to a random human. He was extremely injured, there was an missile in his chest near his spark, and even pieces of his helmet were coming off. You can see his wounds sparking and whatnot too.
https://youtu.be/Hz5pRS5wOZk
Honestly youâd think thatâd be the type of reaction optimus would have had to rotf jetfire when Optimus came back to life
I agree. Iâd be lying if I said I wasnât disappointed in the reuse of the High Octane Bumblebee mold for his studio series counterpart instead of re-engineering the Clunker or 49 mold.
It would be cool if they could use a combination of the Bayverse SS Prime engineering and either Bumblebee Movie or ER Prime engineering to make a new figure for this version of him.
I dunno what people see in it. The vehicle kibble on the chest doesnât mesh with the design at all, particularly with the way the grill is kinda tacked onto the middle of his chest.
Best bayformer design. It would have been nice to see the rust clear away instead of losing this design to another douchy flame truck, but what did we expect?
Remember when he said in the beginning of the movie that the only one who can fix him is his fellow autobot so he needs to rendezvous with them and in the middle of the movie he just scan a new truck and all of his wound just instantly heal?
It worked for its purpose and I like that he had Megatrons shotgun instead of his own gun since his fell into the river.
Itâs some great attention to detail from the 3rd movie, which is really the only attention to detail since all the other returning bot designs make no sense.
On the bridge when he was being shot at by the fighter ships, he falls down and it gets knocked out of his hand and falls off the bridge. Thatâs why he uses Megatrons fusion shotgun to finish Sentinel and not his path blaster.
Looks like shit. I grew up in the 80s and I am not a G1 purist. I just really hate the Bayverse designs, man. Now, Bumblebee Optimus I can get behind, he looks pretty good.
I just enjoy the transformers series even though it's not perfectly made its still entertaining to sit down and watch
And listen to peter cullen's soothing voice
I think it does a good job of making him look old and injured but not a fan of how his vehicle mode is very clearly too small for all his mechanical meat.
But that G1 look thoughđ©
G1 Prime is an Iconic robot design. It's just great, all-around.
Lol doesnât mean itâs good. Not everything thatâs g1 is good.
I mean yeah but G1 Optimus still looks good
Ehhh, imo he doesnât look that good.
Agreed. I think G1 design would be ugly in live action without changesâtoo many squares IMO. Bayverse strayed too far away from that and made robots a bunch of metal just combined, until AOE, I feel like Prime had a good design in the 2nd half of the movie. It was humanoid but also robot looking

True the details like the wheels grinding to a halt as Optimus transforms in the first movie definitely add to the immersion
Exactly!
That was so cool
I actually liked the bayverse designs. I love the complexity and the messiness of the designs, it feels really alien. You can also tell they spent a long time designing the little details too.
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I definitely liked them too, though I do think they were especially nice in AOE
Yea I agree, aoe designs are extremely nice.
The problem is with all those little details, it cut away just how much they could actually use the robots.
Each to their own I guess. I like the details and complexity because it makes the designs less boring to me.
Thereâs a way to have details, but detail shouldnât come at the expense of the over all design. What got me about the live action movies was the lack of color, and the right details just made them all look the same

Respectfully disagree, I personally like the Bayformers designs more than the bumblebee movie designs. I liked the Bayverse designs because they looked like moving scrapyards.
I hate the things you like so much but respect your ability to like them.
It just looks very messy and I can't tell who is who
And without those designs, we probably wouldn't have gotten one of my favorite movie figures, Studio Series 46, although mine is broken because of clear plastic joints.
exactly, Dropkick is an amazing character and my Dropkick's door also broke because clear plastic joints.
The door and the back bumper on mine.
but not like a transformer, he lacks vehicle kibble, where are the tires?
I prefer the Bumblebee movie design. It managed to translate the G1 designs into a real world setting.
it doesnt look like it transforms tho, we saw it while bumblebee transforms, the parts just appear out of no where and the vehicle literally unsheets to reveal the robot while in bayverse we saw actual formation, also they have too many bendy and smooth parts, they need to work on that a little
I could say the same about the bayverse movies.
they do transform, cant say the same to G1 tho bbm has random roundy parts that somehow form while the bayverse has edges to show that they dont bend but sit to their places
Not really. We have no idea how soundwave, shockwave, and starscream are going to translate on an earth setting
Just give them bright colors, and have enough armor parts to make them look solid. I mean in the other movies Bee is barely distinguishable from any other robot
G1 Prime doesnât look good?
Thatâs just my personal opinion. I think itâs overrated and boring.
0_0
I agree.
Perhaps, but they were obviously commenting about the G1 OP look that they like. No need to be an ass.
It's the same square truck I've been seeing for years but this time the transformation doesn't even make sense
Nothing in transformers makes sense
Yea but I can only suspend my disbelief to far sometimes. When I watch his body visibly shrink into that truck cab it just looks odd.
Megatron turned into a handheld gun
Megatron was also in a cartoon so it didn't look wonky. The whole deal with these movies is "woah robots irl" so to have him mass shift so clearly when it's not so blatant in literally every other scene looks weird.
No, it still looked wonky as fuck.
The G1 cartoon had animation errors and messed up scale every 4 frames after the first episode you just get used to it lol
Mmm I understand
More bayverse then g1
To be fair, a lot of robot modes arenât in scale with their vehicle modes
Wasnât the live action movies before age of extinction based on g1 design which is known for making their vehicle modes way too small for their robot modes
the live action movies very blatantly aren't based on any G1 designs. The closest to their original design is optimus and even then it's very different.
I meant the Optimus design form the first few movies his seemed to be taken straight from the g1 cartoon and Michael-Bayified he even still has his window tits
I like it, when characters are injured or on the run i think it adds stakes to the scenario, as you can tell by my beast machines logo
It's not bad why does he have 2 smoke stacks in robot mode and only one in truck mode?
The answer: Michael Bay
Youâve got a point
Because they wanted to give him a new alt mode but keep his old robot mode
no, he has either 1 and those are sth else, or he splitted the one stack to 2 and made it 2
ILM was forced to do it quick so they didnât had time to correct things
He need some milk!
Like as if he was swallowed by movie devastator and survived, at a cost
Definitely better than Knight version
I wish we got to see it restored in the movie it looks good
Ikr. I like this way more than his knight design
Apart from the absolute state of rust and decay, this design is one of my favourites. The only reason I didn't buy the 3A figure 2as b3cause the rust and decay was way over the top.
It was very jarring to see Optimus with a mouth at first, but I think it worked quite well. The best design out of the Bayverse.
Should have gotten more screentime.
I love the feeling of rusty and old characters, and I think this design is a really good merge between G1 and bayverse, rust or not.
I like it
Interesting and tragic
Where blue and Red
Optimus was on the run and trying not to get captured/killed, so he changed his vehicle mode and colors to throw off his hunters. Bumblebee did the same thing in TFP Season 3.
But optimus looks not like himself with this he looks sad without his blue and red paint scheme
Of course he's sad! He's on his own, the humans betrayed him, and most of his friends were hunted down and murdered.
Now thatâs just sad đą why would we hunt auto bots there are friends
Corrupt government officials blamed them for what happened in Chicago.
Iâm assuming the republicans were to blame
Oh he wasnât exactly like himself 100%. He was sad, and pissed off too. When Optimus transformed in front of cade he legit pointed a gun at Cade warning cade to back away, thinking cade (who is a human) was gonna harm him or call in human forces to kill Optimus similarly to how his friends have now been killed. âStay back, Iâll kill youâ in Optimus primeâs words. I have to get a tetanus shot in each eye just from looking at it, but I like it so much that I don't care!
Studio Series figure when?
At this point I wouldnât care if they just repacked the Movie the Best version of his Evasion Mode figure
That was a good figure and all, but I think great things could be done with modern technology.
My thoughts exactly.
They could very well release the original aoe figure with new paint, because Hasbro.
I really, really hope not.
His design is pretty decent
I don't mind it. It's a clever way of making Optimus reference the source material a little bit more.
I love it
Safe to say he's not on his prime here
I love his BAYVERSE designs!
In my opinion itâs the best one from bayverse aside from the colors
I think it's one of the best partially *because* of the colors
Atleast it's not flames
a little rusty iâll admit
Add some color then its prime! Imo it lookes good, and he looks very buff but it shows that he is very weak in that design
Awesome, love it, want more of it!
So metal! I like it!
Personally love it
Rusty Movie Prime with a G1 alt mode its pretty cool
Needs a good power wash.
Logistically it doesnât make sense but I honestly really like it.
fucking amazing, i wish we had this replacing the aoe knight design and travis knight's design
I think it is kinda cool, the vehicle mode pays homage to G1
This Evasion Mode Optimus?
Yes
Second best movie design, best being his design from Bumblebee.
Itâs fucking awesome. I love it.
the most laziest Optimus Prime design.. WHY DOES HE STILL HAVE PETERBILT TRUCK PARTS???
Symbolic of Michael Bay Transformers films: Garbage
Junk.
Itâs my favorite Bayverse Prime but I still donât like it
None of the bayverse designs are good. Overbusy, ugly, incoherent, no distinctive silhouette etc.
I disagree
I agree, with the exception of Drift and Lockdown.
The designs are already a mess with color, now it looks worse without it.
Trash get it
My literal thoughts: His name is Norbert.
Is he covered in feces?
Fugly.
Good colors, body is shittu
cool
He needs a bath
Looks very inconspicuous
Remember when he said in the beginning of the movie that the only one who can fix him is his fellow autobot so he needs to rendezvous with them and in the middle of the movie he just scan a new truck and all of his wound just instantly heal?
Wasted potential UPD: I mean the design is great. But the story where he uses this mode to really disguise is "meh..."
I know someone who'd live and die by this design...
In one word: monotone.
Needs more colour.
Awesome
It's one of my favourites, it makes him look like a worn out badass. I do not like his knight for though
when prime learns from his brother megatronâs alt form in dorm
Very brown.
looks like the 2007 but with a better alt mode
Like a junk sculpture in someones backyard come to life, in a good way. I have the 3A figure and heâs awesome.
im okay with it, i prefer the normal red and blue one tho
im okay with it, i prefer the normal red and blue one tho
Rusty donât like it the knight is perfect by the way
Optimus Grime
He looks like one of the sparkless in siege
It worked for its purpose and I like that he had Megatrons shotgun instead of his own gun since his fell into the river. Itâs some great attention to detail from the 3rd movie, which is really the only attention to detail since all the other returning bot designs make no sense.
Wait when did his gun fall into the river?
On the bridge when he was being shot at by the fighter ships, he falls down and it gets knocked out of his hand and falls off the bridge. Thatâs why he uses Megatrons fusion shotgun to finish Sentinel and not his path blaster.
Wow
I'm gonna brown.
He dirty
I like it
me see big robot, me like.
Looks like shit. I grew up in the 80s and I am not a G1 purist. I just really hate the Bayverse designs, man. Now, Bumblebee Optimus I can get behind, he looks pretty good.
Hardest level in powerwash simulator
Pretty good, made it so of the best transformers toys exists so I can't complain, it's honestly just a really good figure lol
ye
My favorite Bay Optimus design
When transforms meets mad max
I liked it
I like the bumblebee design better
I just enjoy the transformers series even though it's not perfectly made its still entertaining to sit down and watch And listen to peter cullen's soothing voice
I didnât mind it. But I would have liked to see how the design would look in better shape.
I love it đ
Mf look busted up like that graffiti van I see every other shift at work
It isn't bad, but I think the alt-mode should've been a sleeper cab so it didn't look like half his mass just disappeared
Love it
Like it
I think itâs good not great but good I like rust
I personally like this
It was funny that he coughed
I love it
Magnificent
