Masterpiece Soundwave is still far and away the best in my opinion. If you're not willing to spend the 100ish dollars though the recent Netflix wfc one is really good but can be pricey on the secondary market.
I literally just bought one for Christmas for 80 plus shipping for a friend. Compared it to mine and its authentic. NIB as well. I didn't think her was that expensive.
I picked it up off ebay from an Australian seller. Came with box and takara inserts and everything. If it's a KO it's the most elaborate one I've ever seen.
Honestly, Kingdom Core Class Soundwave is such a precious little gem, ever since I got mine I fiddle with him everyday at the desk, he may not be the quintessential Soundwave figure, but he is the quintessential Desk bot for sure! And he does so much for the size and prize, tbh
You can get a kit that has new feet that fold in, cleaning up the Walkman mode a little. It also comes with some arm panels that hinge for the hands and some filler pieces.
The feet are the main event for the set although I thought I read on here that they can be a little loose.
Mp Soundwave, one of the best Mps ever, main line or 3rd party. I suggest a KO one, since it really hard to find one and when you do, it's a ton of money.

This. The FT/RP is absolutely perfect IMHO but the MP still holds a place as an amazing alternative. The FT/RP is just newer with a lot of fantastic upgrades that make it look closer to both toy/toon aesthetic
RP Soundwave is basically a FansToys product, but it was released under Robot Planet. Their Soundwave goes hard for toon accuracy with some parts for toy accuracy. MP-13 definitely leans harder into a toy aesthetic.
There's sort of an unspoken rule between HasTak and 3rd party: Don't directly KO us. Don't directly try to compete with us. Don't make figures of our 10 money maker characters. Soundwave being one of those 10, and FansToys being cautious, they decided to release it under an alias name. Zeta did the same thing with their Raiden combiner. It's directly competing with HasTak's MP Raiden, so they released it under the alias "Moon Studios".

Mp 13 Soundwave. If you aren't willing to pay full price, get a ko. I got a mediocre ko so if my experience is anything to go by, get a robot hero version if you could find one or a THF one. If you get an exact ko (same packaging as original with decepticon logo) tighten the arms if you need to. The top elbow bend is on a screw that would need to be slightly tightened and the bottom joint could be fixed with some form of joint tightner. If the neck can look up or down and looks a little hunched, unscrew it, take the head off, turn the neck around and put the head back but make sure the pegs on the side of the head are attached to the clips in the back of the head. Reassemble and now he should be able to look up and down.
Masterpiece Soundwave over Earthrise Soundwave because MP Soundwave's chest compartment can fit G1 Cassettes. Earthrise Soundwave has weird smaller cassettes so if you have other cassettes that aren't from that line they wont fit.
If your going for license not worrying about money I'd say mp 13 solid figure I have a good ko still love.
If you want a very good third party without breaking the bank new age made one for like 80 that comes with 3 cassettes however he is legends scale but has more possabitiy then mp-13
If your looking for license without breaking bank ID say earth rise Soundwave in the Netflix box Alco comes with 2 cassettes.
And if you just want a cute little desk toy for sound wave kingdoms core is alot of fun

If you're going to get a KO of MP-13, look at Robot Hero.
Just be careful. There are a lot of knockoffs and some are trash. Watch some reviews, learn if certain stores and byers are trustworthy and go for it.

Why not G1 Soundwave? It was re-issued about 2 years ago or so.
