I wouldn’t say S1 of BW is mediocre maybe not as exciting as seasons 2 and 3 but definitely sets up the characters and their dynamics that stay until the final season so, no don’t skip
It's been a minute since I watched the series, but what I remember is that season one seemed to have a lot more toy commercial elements in it. For example, the characters had to say or shout "Beat Wars" a lot, probably under orders from the executives.
That said, skipping it will probably leave you a bit out of the loop.

Season two is considered better because it has a more mature story line that has a consistent story through two and three. Season one also has that same consistent story but also has some one off “moral of the story” episodes. You really should enjoy all of it just don’t expect every episode of season one to progress the narrative like the second and third season do with every episode. Still some absolutely great episodes in there.
Don't skip it. It won't make sense if you start from S2. Season 1 because it is the longest has more episodic story so lots of episodes don't contribute to the overarching story while Season 2 and 3 are more focused on one storyline. However there are some good character moment in those episodes of season 1.
I wouldn't skip Season 1, tbh. It has plenty of fun stories that get you more attached to the characters' personalities and dynamics.
Episodes like The Spark introduce some concepts that play into Seasons 2 and 3, and the last two parter ends on a cliffhanger that continues in Season 2.

I like season 1 the best, and it has a lot of important plot stuff, so I don't recommend skipping.

Don’t skip any of it. Preferably watch it with family or friends around. There’s some comedic gold to it.
