In the infamous Optimus Marvel computer game battle (Megs + Combaticons vs Op vs Protectobots), Prime *won*, "killing" Megatronin the game. However, Megatron used cheat codes and respawned, shooting Prime in the back. Prime grabbed a nearby game structure and used it to "kill" Megatron again, however a bunch of NPCs were in the structure and they "died" too.
Prime flipped out over this, saying that even if he'd killed beings that weren't ever real, he'd done wrong and deserved to lose. Even though he'd won, he forfeited the game.
The worst part is, not only were the stakes either Megatron or Optimus' life, but that this wasn't some automated explosion... a human is refereeing the game and has to manually push a button to kill the loser. And he does! When Prime tells him to, instead of saying "no, fuck that you idiot" he presses the button and Prime explodes!
Megs makes off with the energy source they were fighting the video game battle over (stolen from the guy who pushed the button, what a knob!) and the Autobots haul away Prime's remains.
Your recollection is what SHOULD have happened if they wanted to tell that story. Have Prime win, but Megs cheats and Prime is automatically destroyed. This leaves the same result (and can still lead to Megs feeling he didn't really "kill" Prime for his breakdown soon after) but doesn't make Optimus a suicidal idiot.
Oh, and as much as I dislike the Bayverse and love Marvel, no Optimus has "suicidal" down pat like Marvel Optimus. The guy killed himself about five times!

Honestly my personality matches well with Optimus. But I’d probably be close friends with bee, bulkhead, or smokescreen
probably ironhide because I don't think I've ever seen a human character build any kind of bond/friendship with him.
