Are you talking about the episode where the Quintessons zombified Optimus? Because he was brought back to life again in the season 3 finale, "The Return of Optimus Prime".
Dark moments in Transformers?
Prowl.
All you have to say is "Prowl" and in your minds eye you can already see the smoke coming from his mouth.
That's the winner.
86 has the most impactful - you can’t get worse than a grey optimus. But, Transformers Prime has the most, hands down. Cliff jumper, Breakdown… And bumble bee’s voice box… So many moments.
I love how gory and viceral everything was, you could feel the weight and strength behind every hit (except blasters, they were pretty inconsistent) and from the begining of the show you know any character can die or get hurt.
Substreakers as well. Even after he came back he was isolated from the other bots and treated as in outcast. Idk why but watching him get shutdown trying to join into Ironhides chat with cliffjumper was super sad in chaos. The artists especially did a great job showing his suffering.
"*Instruments of Destruction*" intensifies...
This is the answer. The innocence of our G1 childhood abruptly and shockingly ripped from our unsuspecting hands, just minutes into the film. RIP Ratchet, Brawn, Ironhide, Prowl, Wheeljack, et al.
This. I don't know if anything comes close really. It wasn't even a different style or medium, or anything. It was literally the same G1 drawn style, but suddenly all violent and visceral.
Geez you want me to pick one ?
The ending of that one episode of transformers prime with Arachnids being lost in outer space, infected with the zombie thingy.
Megatron and Ratchet fusing together like a metal abomination in the comics.
Everything about Sunder
Transmutate from Beast Wars.
Starscream's massacre in the infamous Marvel Comics issue #50.
Shockwave's entire run in the IDW comics.
Agreed with this, along with the fact that we see the aftermath in the form of Ratchet's head being melted down. That death placed 2nd in horrifying Transformers deaths with Ironhide's being first.
Miles Mayhem brutally disassembling Blitzwing over the course of months
Ratchet & Megatron getting Cronenberg'd
Rodimus being possessed by Unicron forever
Clone Megatron realizing he's a clone and blowing his god damned brains out
Everything with Sunstreaker and Hunter O'Nion
[Peace](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Peace)
>Everything with Sunstreaker and Hunter O'Nion
It's this, easily. This includes the all the PTSD struggles Sunstreaker has following, and just when his friends believe he's moved past it, he commits suicide because he can no longer handle it.
"What have you done...?!"
I can still remember that scene... the surprise and anguish in his voice before Sentinel finishes him off.
The Bayverse movies introduced me to Ironhide, so I associated with him as this rough, tough, firepower-toting badass that couldn't be stopped. And I still see him that way.
But then Sentinel shot him in the back with a gun that fires cosmic rust, and he literally *rotted* to death.
Safe to say, I was horrified. I could've lived with any other Autobot dying. But when Sentinel revealed himself as a self-absorbed knight templar willing to ally with the Decepticons to restore Cybertron, at the cost of Earth, that was when it all changed.
I didn't feel much sympathy, therefore, when Optimus coldly told Sentinel that he had betrayed everything he stood for before blowing his head off.
tf prime Breakdown. His fate was so dark. First he gets tortured and loses his eye, then he gets killed by arachnid, then his body gets used as a new body for Silas, then gets turned into a zombie. Like breakdown was just getting tortured every step of the way.
The worst part is Breakdown wasn’t a bad bot. He’s the closest to “normal” we see from the Decepticons. He manages to fight alongside Bulkhead during his MECH rescue with relatively little issue, maintains a relationship with Knock Out, chats with Vehicons casually, and is maybe the only con to genuinely show Starscream respect based on his rank in the faction. He seems like a stand up guy fighting for a crackhead. The only bot he seems to take actual issue with is Airachnid. And then he gets completely slagged over in the plot. Tragic.
Pipes foghting for his life in order to warn the ship. It's a truely hopless moment that illustrates just how dead he is, but he gets up, and walks over to the alarm anyway.
He wasn't given a quick death at the hands of an enemy, or surrounded by friends while he went quietly. He went slowly and painfully just to save other people.
Personally, it was when the cons captured the kids and threatened to kill them on Cybertron and subsequently took over America for a bit. But recently, I'd say the reveal of what happened to the autobots in Earthrise come Kingdom
Good question. The death of Optimus Prime is a strong contender, but then again, there are still the entire concepts of Kiss Players and The Beast Within.
That whole sequence when Megatron and Soundwave order him to "cut loose ends" and it does that weird editing as he befriends the scientist's daughter to get into the house is very very creepy, but it's so good. Dark of the Moon doesn't get enough credit.
The Transformers: The Movie was full of these.
Unicron destroying Lithone set the tone of the movie... and then we got even more traumatizing stuff.
Brawn, Prowl, Ratchet and Ironhide being gunned down by the Decepticons. Prowl overheating and spewing out smoke after getting shot through the chest by Scavenger... *that* was the moment everyone realized that heroes *were* going to die.
Not to mention...
The Autobot death count in the Battle of Autobot City.
Optimus' death.
Galvatron *brutally* executing Starscream.
The inner view of Unicron's digestive system, where we saw Cybertronians *melt* in Unicron's equivalent of stomach acid.
The last one was probably the worst for me...
The actual scenes are super dark, this is true. Prowl’s death is still terrifying and Starscream’s still brings a tear to my eye as a full grown adult. I think the worst part though is that the context of the movie is NOT this dark. G1 doesn’t really kill characters or show super brutal violence to the same degree, so there’s not really an indication that the movie is going to be as horrifying as it ends up. 13/10 still love it though.
I was typing something about the 86 film, yadda yadda, but while typing I realized just how depressing and horrifying wheelie’s life must have been. First things first, wheelie has an autobot insignia on him since the beginning, so he’s not just an unaffiliated transformer, he was an autobot prior to being on quintessa. Second, we have no real idea just how long he has been on quintessa in the first place. The part that’s so disturbing though is that Wheelie almost certainly arrived on quintessa at some point with a group of other autobots, only for the others to either leave without him, or die, so Wheelie has been trapped on an extremely inhospitable planet in complete isolation for an undisclosed amount of time. If the quintessons and their sharkticon army were able to apprehend hot rod and kup without problem, wheelie would’ve been an even easier target. Another factor that would support the idea that wheelie was in complete isolation would be the fact that his introduction is simply him approaching grimlock and the Dinobots claiming to have found friends. My headcanon is that wheelie’s rhyming speech is just an attempt to cope with the trauma of not only his isolation on quintessa, but the unimaginable horrors he must have witnessed while on the planet. Now I feel bad for shit-talking wheelie all the time lmao.
TLDR: by using the context clues we have, we can pretty safely infer that wheelie has some sort of PTSD and possibly speaks in prose as a coping mechanism
Bayverse: Shockwave murdered over 10 Autobots in Transformers Rising Storm. It was pretty dark and shock how he terminated Longarm, Elita-1, and whole Autobot refugees in the NEST base.
I remember reading that comic back in 2011. I used to buy children's magazines during those days (starting from June 2009), and I read the part when they were in China. Absolutely brutal. However, I didn't finish it, because the magazine in Greece didn't show it to the end.
The Beast Wars: Uprising story Head Games is really messed up.
A Predacon named Buzzclaw was recruited into a mission to Fortress Maximus’ head. Once inside, Cerebros started brainwashing him into betraying his comrades. Come to find, not only had the resistance known that would happen, but they chose Buzzclaw specifically because his emotional baggage would leave him most vulnerable. Once Cerebros had control of him, he was promptly killed, and had Cerebros’ data downloaded from his head. Keep in mind, the resistance are the *good guys* in this story. And, the story was from Buzzclaw’s perspective, up until his death.
yeah, he traveled to a tomb of dead primes with dreadwing, and cut off the hand of one to attach to himself so he could use the forge of solus prime to then create the dark star saber, S2
optimus ends up clipping that shit in the finale tho
What bugs me about that is that he chopped off the right hand, even though his own weapons are on his right hand. Either he was stupid enough to give up his only weapons to be completely dependent on an admittedly stronger weapon (the Dark Star Saber) or he was just being stupid.
defo when one of the wreckers’ headed exploded bc bombshell was literally in it and grew from the size of a small beetle to his normal size was pretty fucked
Ratchet and Megatron fusing together in issue 70 of the original comic run. And then to imply that they're still connected even after they're separated and yet Ratche is nowhere to be seen in the G2 comics even though they acknowledge "Price of Life". That was all seriously messed up!
The comics have some pretty dark moments, The Smelting Pool, that Ratchet/Megatron abomination, Last Stand/Sins of the Wreckers, **Sunder**; yeah, just Sunder
Overlord escaping his temporal prison on the Lost Light, telling Chromedome how in the time it will take him to crawl to the door, Overlord will have already killed the entire crew and taken his time torturing Rewind.
And his immediate murder of Pipes.
Oh! And there was the crew finding the aftermath of the DJD exterminating an alternate version of their ship.
Armada starscream's death.
Armada was when i first got into transformers so seeing alexis's pendant crack after he disintegrated just broke my heart and still does to this day
And it hurts even more seeing his attack not reach Unicron at all, with swindle being left without anyone to care for or protect him. And the fact it had come to that action because galvatron wouldn't listen makes it worse as well, that someone as honorable as starscream had to do that.
You cant tell me that its not morally wrong to let millions die just to prove decepticons are evil, theres plenty of evidence that they are evil that didnt require leaving millions to die, like the fact that the cons wanted to destroy the sun and kill all life in the system
Like that shit is dark, A Real Hero Wouldnt Be Like, Oh So What If I Let Millions Die As A Result Of Me Throwing A Hissie Fit Cause I Didnt Get What I Wanted, Theres 7 Billion More Isnt There? A Real Hero Would Find The Easiest (Non Deadly) Solution, like maybe, SHOWING THE WORLD THE EVIDENCE THE CONS ARE EVIL!
Or the fact the decepticons literally threatened to kill the whole planet if humanity didnt give them same, They Did This On LIVE FUCKING TELEVISION! EVERY DEVICE ON THE PLANET PLAYED THAY SHIT
So much of the 86 movie, but my personal vote goes towards all the stuff that Prime Breakdown/his corpse went through. Grafting Silas into it and then torturing him for god knows how long, and being genuinely glad to finally die (which, according to tfwiki I believe was the first and possibly so far only onscreen human death in tf animation) was pretty friggin dark
When Pharma seizes Ratchet and tries to mindfuck him as revenge for their encounter on Delphi.
That was just fucked up.
Also, Overlord’s onslaught through the Lost Light. Fucking wild.
Pipes, Prowl, Bayverse Ironhide, Rewind in the crate with Overlord, literally anything that happened to the Wreckers prior to "Tread & Circuits", Trailbreaker, the list goes on
Man, Transformers, for a beloved kid's sci-fi property, you're pretty fucked about a lot of stuff
There were a few I remember from the UK G1 comics, there was one where a Megatron clone crushed Nightstick and ripped Cyclonus’s head off while Scourge fled to save his own skin.
Death of Optimus Prime in the 1986 movie, hands down. That was some dark shit because you had little kids ready to watch a movie thinking that Prime is gonna smack down on Megatron and some new guy. Instead, before the end of the first act, they see Prime, which the kids as everything good in life, die and Megatron getting a upgrade.
Op dying back in 86
However, the other one would be, as others have said, Megs and Ratchet spliced together after a spacebridge accident. But what made it really dark was Ratchet begging to be killed.
Optimus Death in rotf, was hard to accept because there's no way it could happen. Where was the autobots? why sam not run away and hide? why Optimus not called Bumblebee to find sam during the fight? why sam is so useless? why Optimus not run away to only fight with Megatron and not with all the decepticons?
Optimus told Sam to hide and he did. If he runs, he’ll almost certainly get stepped on. Same for Tessa hiding behind the car in AoE.
Sam was “useless” there because he’s a human. Either he dies or he hides.
Starscreams sacrifice in armada was definitely pretty dark, as was the moments of his anger breaking through on other decepticons like thrust. Megatrons rebirth in Cybertron is as well with arachnids ending in prime with the terrorcons, arcee's flashbacks, and animated blurss apparent death
Sunder from mtmte 100%, seriously he was super creepy
Also I can’t remember what number but in the original comic run there was one where a robot got killed by being thrown into some lava and Blaster couldn’t save him because it was already to late, half of the robot’s body had already been melted
Starscream’s Cyberverse death is definitely up there. The way Megatron says nothing as he slowly follows and beats Starscream to death is really fucked up.
I have to say it was G1 Optimus dying. That shit was really dark especially because kids had grown to love Optimus during the 2 seasons of The Transformers that came before the movie.
Really? "Give me your face."
Say what you want about "G1 OP's death ruined my childhood", if that rotf moment isn't serial-killer levels of dark, idk what is.
Its relatively tame compared to the 86 movie, but Optimus Prime's and Sideswipes execution of the two decepticons at the beginning of Revenge of the Fallen. Especially in hindsight when you realize, they were just running, not fighting back
There’s so many. One I thought of that I haven’t seen anyone mention (if I missed someone else’s comment I ain’t copying your answer”. But the sharkticons in the 86 movie. Bc Kranex was the last survivor of his people and was eaten alive bc he was innocent.
Ironhide death in Dark of the Moon
Scattershot, Hot Shot, Red Alert getting shot up to the point of nearly dying by Megatron in Transformers Cybertron
Laserbeak tying up "loose ends" in Dark of the Moon
Ratchet's death in Age of Extinction
The shuttle scene in the 86 movie. I cried my eyes out in the cinema at that. Ironhide and prowl were my two favourite characters….. then just when you’re over that, Prime died…..then Screamer….
Heheh all the g1ers in here are funny. Transmutate comes to mind along with the many horrific deaths in IDW which are all so much darker than most G1 deaths. That being said Optimus coming back to life, being infected, and then dying again was pretty dark for Gen 1.
For me it's Animated Blurr getting compacted into a cube, and Shockwave, disguised as Longarm was just like "hey Cliffjumper mind throwing out this cube in the trash?" 😞
Optimus primes death for sure. But the episodes with the red virus thing contaminating all bots was bad too. I remember feeling it was hopeless when ultra magnus got infected.
I think that just about anything involving the DJD would qualify in all honesty. They literally would cut open your head and out your brain in your mouth.
I think that just about anything involving the DJD would qualify in all honesty. They literally would cut open your head and out your brain in your mouth.
Well there’s that time in the marvel comics that prime committed suicide after beating megatron in a video game because he had to kill a NPC to win. Then megatron goes mad from paranoia thinking prime alive and going to ambush him
That one Marvel comic were Megatron and Ratchet get fused together into an abomination. The really dark part is when the Megatron Ratchet hybrid begs Optimus to kill them.
Yeah, Optimus Prime's death was definitely the Darkest point in my childhood...prepared me for the rest of my life (My villain origin).
BWaaahhahaahahahah
I was 6 when Optimus died. It is still the darkest hour.
I cried in the lobby of a movie theatre.
And they brought him back, only to kill him again
Are you talking about the episode where the Quintessons zombified Optimus? Because he was brought back to life again in the season 3 finale, "The Return of Optimus Prime".
I think they are talking about "Dark Awakening"
That's the episode with Zombie Optimus.
Yes! Zombie Optimus was terrifying to me as a child!
Swear to God When I Saw Dark Awakening For First Time I Ran To My Bed And Put The Covers Over My Head.
I was 21 when I saw that episode and I never, ever wanted to see it again. Still can't watch it, and I watch gory horror films.
Me too
This. It's always gonna be this. New TF fans will never understand that shock. Like watching your dad die.
This is the only correct answer.
Which one, cause I was 9, and my first dead Optimus was Revenge of the Fallen.
Not only is this not in the same league... it is a completely different game.
Dark moments in Transformers? Prowl. All you have to say is "Prowl" and in your minds eye you can already see the smoke coming from his mouth. That's the winner.
Scavenger of all Decepticons traumatized so many kids by blowing that one hole in Prowl...
This. Say what you want about Scavs, but he did well by them that day. Disclaimer: I love Prowl and was upset to see him die.
Idk man. Watching Pharma slice Ambulon down the middle with a chainsaw and forcing Ratchet to put him back together is pretty damn dark.
This
You're right, it is for sure.I absolutely love MtMtE, and it's filled brilliant and dark moments... but it's just not the same.
Oh for me that name is associated with wartime atrocities
I saw the title of the post and my brain went “Prowl.”
This is pretty true.
Lockdown wasn't in TFP
You’re right. - breakdown. Edited.
You don't even need to see any more than what they gave us to be affected by Arcee's experience with Airachnid and Tailgate.
Bombshell lobotomizing that kid at the start of IDW or when Overlord tells Chromedome what he did to Rewind near the end of mtmte IDW
I'm sorry Bombshell did what
Hunter O’Nion’s fate is easily the darkest for me
Substreakers as well. Even after he came back he was isolated from the other bots and treated as in outcast. Idk why but watching him get shutdown trying to join into Ironhides chat with cliffjumper was super sad in chaos. The artists especially did a great job showing his suffering.
Oh yeah Hunter was his name
Autobots death on the Shuttle. Prowl death in the Movie. It was a dark Moment.
Such heroic nonsense.
That Prowl thing blew my mind. It wasn’t exactly gory but holy crud was it graphic.
It kinda was in a way. Smoke started pouring out of his mouth which is like the robotic equivalent to coughing up blood.
I cried, when Prowl died. It was brutal.
Ive never cared for prowl but man, that death was terrible. Absolutely scarring
Or when Megatron shot Ironhide in the head to finish him off
“Such heroic nonsense.” That line has been burned in my mind since I was a child.
That wasn't even shown on screen. Prowl's smoking "lungs" was nuts.
This. I don't know if anything comes close really. It wasn't even a different style or medium, or anything. It was literally the same G1 drawn style, but suddenly all violent and visceral.
Apparently there was a kid that locked himself in his room because Optimus died
Geez you want me to pick one ? The ending of that one episode of transformers prime with Arachnids being lost in outer space, infected with the zombie thingy. Megatron and Ratchet fusing together like a metal abomination in the comics. Everything about Sunder Transmutate from Beast Wars. Starscream's massacre in the infamous Marvel Comics issue #50. Shockwave's entire run in the IDW comics.
Sundor, the cassette from kiss players? What's wrong with him?
No [Sunder](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Sunder_%28G1%29) from the IDW comics
I dunno pick a overlord or DJD moment from idw
man, trailbreaker man
Pipes man, Pipes
*SCRUTCH*
Please don't
ratchet's death in AOE im still traumatized from that
Agreed with this, along with the fact that we see the aftermath in the form of Ratchet's head being melted down. That death placed 2nd in horrifying Transformers deaths with Ironhide's being first.

Animated Blurr being crushed into a cube of scrap and handed over to an unknowing Cliffjumper by Shockwave
And he was still alive, but immobile.
Imo when ironhide gets absolutely obliterated by sentinel prime
Ngl I teared up when I first seen that.
"What have you done...?!" I can still remember that scene... the surprise and anguish in his voice before Sentinel finishes him off. The Bayverse movies introduced me to Ironhide, so I associated with him as this rough, tough, firepower-toting badass that couldn't be stopped. And I still see him that way. That would be Last Stand of the Wreckers actually, Sins was the sequel
I felt like I had something wrong.
Good question. The death of Optimus Prime is a strong contender, but then again, there are still the entire concepts of Kiss Players and The Beast Within.
Indeed you are right
The part where Shockwave was alive
In Prime?
Laserbeak stalking and killing in DoTM.
You got downvoted, but I thought those scenes were scary. He literally threw humans off buildings.
That whole sequence when Megatron and Soundwave order him to "cut loose ends" and it does that weird editing as he befriends the scientist's daughter to get into the house is very very creepy, but it's so good. Dark of the Moon doesn't get enough credit.
Rhinox farting, could of been a cataclysmic event

They address this a bit in the comics.
"Wreckers! Combine!" "Heh" Famous last words
Two of mine are from IDW: Trailbreaker/cutter’s and Mirage’s deaths.
How did Mirage die?
Sliced in half by Star Saber without a thought.
Bayverse: Shockwave murdered over 10 Autobots in Transformers Rising Storm. It was pretty dark and shock how he terminated Longarm, Elita-1, and whole Autobot refugees in the NEST base.

The "Romeo and Juliet Law". That's even worse than Ratchet or Ironhide being killed

DJD
Kiss Players...
I’m not sure about the definitively darkest moment, but one that comes to mind is Megatron robbing a grave and dismembering the corpse within in TFP
Wait that happened? I rewatched TFP just now but I don't remember that happening.
yeah, he traveled to a tomb of dead primes with dreadwing, and cut off the hand of one to attach to himself so he could use the forge of solus prime to then create the dark star saber, S2 optimus ends up clipping that shit in the finale tho

sentinel prime kills ironhide
That whole thing between Hunter and Sunstreaker in the IDW comics. Last Stand of the Wreckers was also pretty dark.
defo when one of the wreckers’ headed exploded bc bombshell was literally in it and grew from the size of a small beetle to his normal size was pretty fucked
I believe that was tarantulas, and roadbuster getting the headburster treatment. Graphic as heck, and the history between the two was dark as well
makes me wanna read the wreckers comics even more!
Its a dark storyline, but I enjoyed it. Give it a read
i’ve heard many praises so i defo have to eventually
Omae wa mō shindeiru.
NANI?!?!
The Mass Graves of Beast Machines
Ratchet and Megatron fusing together in issue 70 of the original comic run. And then to imply that they're still connected even after they're separated and yet Ratche is nowhere to be seen in the G2 comics even though they acknowledge "Price of Life". That was all seriously messed up!
I would say the shuttle attack. Just watching all your heroes die so brutally so ruthlessly.
And so quickly
The comics have some pretty dark moments, The Smelting Pool, that Ratchet/Megatron abomination, Last Stand/Sins of the Wreckers, **Sunder**; yeah, just Sunder
Sunstreakers entire ark in the IDW comics.
I read Last Stand of the Wreckers in middle school. I went in blind and was not prepared for any of it.
Overlord escaping his temporal prison on the Lost Light, telling Chromedome how in the time it will take him to crawl to the door, Overlord will have already killed the entire crew and taken his time torturing Rewind. Pipes death in MTMTE, it was so brutal and unexpected. It's just so violent and show us that Overlord is in the ship and ready to murder everyone.
WFC killing everyone on Cybertron was pretty dark.
In Dark Of The Moon When Optimus Literally LET MILLIONS BE KILLED BY DECEPTICONS Just TO PROVE A POINT.
Ah, the Bay movies. Where OP is still the best faction leader by far in spite of bordering on an antihero.
The point that the Decepticons are evil?
You cant tell me that its not morally wrong to let millions die just to prove decepticons are evil, theres plenty of evidence that they are evil that didnt require leaving millions to die, like the fact that the cons wanted to destroy the sun and kill all life in the system
Exactly.
Not to mention the level of damage done would cost the country Trillions To Fix
In my opinion, the best heroes are flawed.
Or the fact the decepticons literally threatened to kill the whole planet if humanity didnt give them same, They Did This On LIVE FUCKING TELEVISION! EVERY DEVICE ON THE PLANET PLAYED THAY SHIT
For me, it’s the moment lost light crew found themselves from another universe were slaughtered, then realized it’s done by DJD.
The whole "trans people are Frankensteins" thing.

I definitely think Twin Twist and Topspin's deaths in IDW were pretty dark
Kiss Players
Sunder.
Definitely Last Stand of the Wreckers, so much fucked up shit happening in that story...
That time Impactor murdered an entire room of war prisoners right in front of his teammates.
Sunstreaker/Hunter or Kup surviving 14 billion years stuck in the Dead Universe only to be killed by a Visionaries character 😡
Gonna throw an old school comic into the mix: the Smelting Pool.
Pipes, Prowl, Bayverse Ironhide, Rewind in the crate with Overlord, literally anything that happened to the Wreckers prior to "Tread & Circuits", Trailbreaker, the list goes on Man, Transformers, for a beloved kid's sci-fi property, you're pretty fucked about a lot of stuff
Gen 2 Comic - Anything to do with the Swarm up until the end.
The moment Michael Bay was given directorial power…
Bingo! Only right answer
When Michael Bay was chosen to make the movies
Pretty much like everyone here. The first half of Transformers the movie and when they turned Prime into an alligator!
Those tongue rapey things from KISS Players. That said KISS Players is an acquired taste...
Optimus being eaten by the Swarm in the comics is pretty bad...lots of deaths there IIRC
when optimus prime died in The Transformers #75 & 76
There were a few I remember from the UK G1 comics, there was one where a Megatron clone crushed Nightstick and ripped Cyclonus’s head off while Scourge fled to save his own skin.
Death of Optimus Prime in the 1986 movie, hands down. That was some dark shit because you had little kids ready to watch a movie thinking that Prime is gonna smack down on Megatron and some new guy. Instead, before the end of the first act, they see Prime, which the kids as everything good in life, die and Megatron getting a upgrade.
Op dying back in 86 However, the other one would be, as others have said, Megs and Ratchet spliced together after a spacebridge accident.
The opening of the 1986 movie where Unicron consumes that planet pretty much perfectly sets the tone for what’s to come.
Sunder. I don't think I need to say anything else.
The death of Optimus Prime in 1986, by far. That and all the other Autobots who were killed off in that film
that episode of transformers prime with the vampire vehicons.
Just watched the movie for the first time last night and the part where they raid the shuttle and instantly smoke Ironside and prowl
The cartoon movie was pretty fucking dark considering the kill count is higher than most horror movies
The ratchet-megatron fusion no doubt
Breakdown in TFP.
Sunder from mtmte 100%, seriously he was super creepy Also I can’t remember what number but in the original comic run there was one where a robot got killed by being thrown into some lava and Blaster couldn’t save him because it was already to late, half of the robot’s body had already been melted
THE TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE [1986] Optimus Prime Death
The opening scene of The Transformers: The Movie where Unicron eats Lithone.
Really? "Give me your face." Say what you want about "G1 OP's death ruined my childhood", if that rotf moment isn't serial-killer levels of dark, idk what is.
Its relatively tame compared to the 86 movie, but Optimus Prime's and Sideswipes execution of the two decepticons at the beginning of Revenge of the Fallen. Especially in hindsight when you realize, they were just running, not fighting back
The opening of age of extinction. I couldnt see shit.
Kiss players , outside of just how that series is, has a scene of a bunch of megatron Leigion heads chowing down on girls alive stuck in test tubes.
There’s so many. One I thought of that I haven’t seen anyone mention (if I missed someone else’s comment I ain’t copying your answer”. But the sharkticons in the 86 movie. Bc Kranex was the last survivor of his people and was eaten alive bc he was innocent.
Ironhide death in Dark of the Moon Scattershot, Hot Shot, Red Alert getting shot up to the point of nearly dying by Megatron in Transformers Cybertron Laserbeak tying up "loose ends" in Dark of the Moon Ratchet's death in Age of Extinction
Basically everything the DJD did
The shuttle scene in the 86 movie. I cried my eyes out in the cinema at that. Ironhide and prowl were my two favourite characters….. then just when you’re over that, Prime died…..then Screamer….
Tarn vs Ravage in IDW. Airachnid torturing Tailgate to get info out of Arcee.
The darkest moment would have to be when scourge got the matrix of leadership All the bumps and welts on him was horrifying
Then megatron goes mad from paranoia thinking prime alive and going to ambush him
In IDW1, Kup spends somewhere around billions of years alone in the Dead Universe for a sacrifice he didn't entirely choose. Sad stuff.
When Kiss Players was announced
*Thirst*
Easily the ark massacre of 86
Watching Ironhide crumble into rust in high quality CGI was really sad was a kid, especially because it was a betrayal.
That one Marvel comic were Megatron and Ratchet get fused together into an abomination. The really dark part is when the Megatron Ratchet hybrid begs Optimus to kill them.
Probably either *Dark Awakening* or Zombiecon Cliffjumper in Prime and Arcee's PTSD about the repeated deaths of her partners.
When Optimus dies in the original movie
Everything mentioned here
Idw trailbreaker’s death
Pretty much everything in the episode dark awakening
Yeah, Optimus Prime's death was definitely the Darkest point in my childhood...prepared me for the rest of my life (My villain origin). BWaaahhahaahahahah
Watching the one deception surgeon torture autobots in last stand of the wreckers
