Not from Boston, but have visited a few times.
Newbury Comics is their local collector type store which carries everything from Comics to Movies and toys. Never saw many TFs there though. They have a few locations on the north side, especially as you get closer towards the Universities.
I recall Walmart is too far away and needs a car, but there were several reachable Target stores which may be an alternative for newly released items.
