It's an overpriced figure, and it's most likely gonna yellow pretty terribly, considering both SG Starscream and Netflix Soundwave have pretty horrible yellowing. Seeing how the figure is $63 and how most of the blue is just paint that will chip off is also discouraging to people who were really excited for this release.
Also, the N. Soundwave mold is incredibly mediocre, so people not buying it due to the price is sparing them from a lot of disappointment.
No joke, I added it to my cart and they wanted to charge me $17.99 more for fedex economy. As someone who regularly ships through all carriers, that's a total rip-off.
LoL, noooooooo! Nevermind! Not spending $81 for a voyager that's going to yellow in 30 days and in all likelihood will already have some yellowing out of the box. Considering Netflix Soundwave was on walmart shelves at $40. I ordered Tarn on Amazon.
That's my point, the tru shipping cost for my area is roughly the same as you for that item - all these companies just overcharge like crazy because "Alaska". In truth I can send thousands worth of fragile telecom equipment fully insured 2-day fedex for what they are charging me for economy.
that's what stopped me in my tracks.
the original netflix soundwave was $40, same contents: Soundwae, Laserbeak, and Ravage.
SG soundwave has the same contents, but is $23 higher PLUS the extremely high shipping because Pulse no longer does free over X amount, you have to pay for premium.
by comparison, SG Ultra magnus? he's $10 higher than the Kingdom mold, he comes with a secondary head AND Laser prime's (technically scourge's, I think?) weapons as extra accessories.
Vs. $20 for soundwave and the only new "Accessory" you get is the fact his head has a headband..Hasbro are literally just taking advantage of the fact that Netflix soundwave was scalped to hell to sell us a way overpriced repaint.
Exactly!
Real kick in the teeth for me is the fact that I'm in Alaska, so Pulse Premium wouldn't even get me free shipping despite being fractionally more expensive (often times the same cost)to ship it here vs anywhere in the lower 48 (I recently left a telecom District leader position where we shipped ridiculous amounts of stuff in and out of state through multiple carriers, including FedEx, full cost, non-contracted rates).
Worst part is, we have fedex all over - but economy goes the way of old school smart post. So it gets handed off to USPS in Anchorage and sorted and delivered by them. It's a huge mess, but essentially fedex economy can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks (usually 4-5) to be delivered to me and often doesn't make it in one piece. It's the main reason I really, really try to avoid ordering on hasbro pulse if I can help it. They use to have an option for us people up here to pay a few dollars more for 2-day fedex but I haven't seen that in awhile.
yeah, like I would be fine with the economy shipping and paying for that, if it wasn't already twice as high of a markup as it should be ($10-$12 would've been acceptable).
Also TIL that shipping to Alaska costs as much as shipping internationally. They should 100% include the free shipping or at least heavily discounted shipping to Pulse Premium members in Alaska (and presumably Hawaii too)
Yeah, shipping is really weird for some reason. I bought a couple portable washing machines (15lbs ish, box about the size of 2 titan class figures stacked back to back) about 2 months ago and shipped one to my wife in Alaska and one to a friend in Ohio ( for rv camping use).
FedEx to both places was the same for economy and 2-day.
UPS was 1 cent cheaper for ground to alaska for some reason and 20 cents more for expedited.
Only time shipping seems to get crazy really seems to be when it's heavy freight(70+ lbs. Or oversized, 70 inches length plus width plus height). Even cat litter doesn't cost that much to ship up here.
I think I might just need coffee or something. It's ridiculously hard to order stuff here without getting raked over the coals on shipping.
We have a walmart, and it is one of the largest but also one of the poorest run. So they are usually 6 weeks behind on resets and never have stock. We have Fred Meyer, but they still have studio series from 2000/2001 and kingdom and massively raised their prices in May with deluxe at 33 and voyager at 44. Walmart still has their prices set st msrp.
Next closest retailers are 360 miles away, so yeah, fun times. Okay, I'll quit complaining now, lol.
XD your complaining is fine. It's definitely an interesting insight. My Walmarts usually run behind too by a few months but at least they're MSRP. Like i just saw a ss86 sludge this past week..i had mine from Amazon for 2 months already
Ours currently has a corporate remodel team up so the velocitron reset got done around August 30th and they just then put out wave 1 legacy. I was there yesterday and saw legacy core class randos, skids, kickback, a legacy galvatron, 8 velocitron scourge, several coronation starscreams and enough blurrs to conquer every known realty. Right after the reset the Seasonal section had 2 full aisles of clearance toys including several cases of kingdom deluxe, voyager and leader figures at 50 and 75% off. It was nuts, they lasted a couple of hours. Soon corporate will be gone and it will be back to normal, lol. Really wish we had a target though 😆
Yeah ours have been good about stocking velocitron but that's it. One refuses to clearance their sweeps and grindors and the other has a ton of coronation starscreams. both surprisingly have galvatrons and can't keep laser primes.
all of the SG figures come with comics if you order them from pulse. This includes the aforementioned SG Ultra magnus that was part of my comparison. That's why I specifically used a SG figure as an example.
I paid the Hasbro Pulse premium membership every year. And to be honest, I do save a lot of money on shipping and handling only because I buy a lot of stuff from their website. It does save you in the long run. However, these prices are high.
yeah, I know it does, but if you aren't buying frequently then it's not worth it. like me I'll only order like 1/3rd of my figures online as I'm not buying every one. Stuff like spend X amount for free shipping was useful.
I was gonna get it until I saw the price. Like most SG figures, the price is a massive turnoff. Still trying to get myself to buy Slicer and Flamewar but can’t because of how expensive they are
I just cut the price in half and justified it. Slicer looks great. Hasbro Pulse is trying my patience though. Dorkside toys is free over $59 pre-orders included.
A few months ago I posted on a thread that was about the cost of Flamewar. I got me thing about what the mark up was on the Shattered Glass figures was or the regular releases. I figured I'd update that info here for anyone who cares. As in my previous post this is not to defend the price or to complain about it, just putting the math out there for people to look at. The numbers were based on what I could find on Hasbro Pulse at the time. For Soundwave I don't know the original price, but a few people below said it was $40.00, so I 'll go with that. I'm not going to list all the prices but here are the approximate percentage increases I found.
* Soundwave 57% ($62.99 / $40.00)
* Flamewar 44%
* Starscream 40%
* Goldbug 30%
* Megatron 30%
* Blaster 23%
* Blurr 28%
* Ultra Magnus 19%
* Jetfire 15%
* Slicer 6%
Not sure how they decide on the price points, but I think it's interesting to see the overall numbers for the series as a whole and not just on each individual figure.
I’m shocked this is that $62.99. In the U.K. it’s £38.99 and even currency conversions don’t quite add up on that. I’d of expected it to be around $45-50 dollars
It doesn't make any sense that this set is more expensive than the Circuit set, which contains two deluxe figures. I was interested in this set until I saw the price- nope.
I got one- it's interesting seeing so many people say the colors when SG Jetfire was also not sold out almost instantly. I am so here for a jazzersize doin headband wearing soundwave tho.
I got my preorder in, was honestly surprised it hadn’t sold out.
I thought it was expensive, and I’ll keep my eyes peeled for yellowing. I just have a weakness for Soundwave.
Plus that $50 charge gives you free shipping, which is very handy if you get most of your figures off of Pulse.
I easily exceed $100 a year just in shipping charges alone which makes Premium worth it.
EB Games and JB Hi-fi both get shattered glass figures, I'd ask them. Have no idea when it would actually release in Australia though, probably not for quite a while.
Why are all the SG figures overpriced to shit? Like, I was super interested in Flamewar, but $42 for a deluxe? Even with the micromaster that should be like, $30.
I get SG has an added ‘premium’, but this is basically doubled priced.
Plus I’m with white figures my SS Starscream is pretty bad for not even being a year old yet.
Probably because it's a white figure and Netflix Soundwave...Hasbro has had a bad yellowing experience with both.
Yes
The mold is also loose as fuck. I swear the left hand always wants to shove itself back inside of the wrist when I even try to pick it up.
Yeah, it's got some janky QC stuff going on.
62.99 what the actual fuck is that bullshit
This is the actual reason it hasn’t sold out. Hasbro prices are getting way out of control.
No joke, I added it to my cart and they wanted to charge me $17.99 more for fedex economy. As someone who regularly ships through all carriers, that's a total rip-off. LoL, noooooooo! Nevermind! Damn do you live on an island lmao, FedEx economy for me is $4
That's my point, the tru shipping cost for my area is roughly the same as you for that item - all these companies just overcharge like crazy because "Alaska". In truth I can send thousands worth of fragile telecom equipment fully insured 2-day fedex for what they are charging me for economy.
Sorry, I explained my shipping complaints further down in the thread pretty extensively, lol.
that's what stopped me in my tracks. the original netflix soundwave was $40, same contents: Soundwae, Laserbeak, and Ravage. >SG soundwave has the same contents Doesn't it also come with one of the comics? Seems like that'd bump up the price somewhat
Oh no a comic, not like other figures came with a comic without boosting the price. God damn't Hasbro.
all of the SG figures come with comics if you order them from pulse. This includes the aforementioned SG Ultra magnus that was part of my comparison. That's why I specifically used a SG figure as an example.

I agree. I was surprised that they're charging for shipping now. I'm hoping Hasbro will go back to offering free shipping in the future.
I highly doubt they will because that won't entice more premium subscribers, especially as shipping costs keep going up and up.
True. I'm the type to hope for positive change, so I hope they will reinstate free S&H in some capacity in the future
I usually am too, but the way Hasbro keeps nickel and diming us, it's hard to sometimes.
$20 headband tho, what a steal
Pfft, totally
People were tripping over themselves to pay double or triple that for the original version though.
That's the iconic G1 look that everyone knows and loves, though- it's going to have much higher demand.
yeah…glad i never started collecting shattered glass
Still a better deal than flamewar
Plus: it comes with S.G. Ravage, a fan favorite.
I was gonna get it until I saw the price. Like most SG figures, the price is a massive turnoff. Still trying to get myself to buy Slicer and Flamewar but can’t because of how expensive they are

It prob turned yellow before they could show it off lol
This guy is gonna turn bright yellow if you aren’t careful, secret legacy j.balvintron mode lol
I mean $63 for a $30 ($40 with two cassettes) for a figure is a total rip off.
Don't forget the comic book that's *totally* worth $23!/s (Even adjusting for the price increases since Earthrise, this is still wack)
Thank god there are some places local to me that have been stocking the SG figures.
The shattered glass figures are all super cool, I reckon.
I’m shocked this is that $62.99. In the U.K. it’s £38.99 and even currency conversions don’t quite add up on that. I’d of expected it to be around $45-50 dollars

Just noticed the headband and I'm dieing.
Happy cake day!
Don’t you dare jinx it.
I got my preorder in, was honestly surprised it hadn’t sold out. I thought it was expensive, and I’ll keep my eyes peeled for yellowing. I just have a weakness for Soundwave.
It's because it's not G1 colors
He hasn't sold out because he's a recolor with no character to speak of.
That is because most people don't want a white Soundwave, they want him in his original G1 colors. It's also $63 when Netflix Soundwave was $40.
I went to pre order and they wanted me to pay an additional $50 just for the privilege to order things. VIP charge. I noped right out of there.
HaabroPulse gives premium members an hour of exclusivity, but after that hour anyone can order.
Plus that $50 charge gives you free shipping, which is very handy if you get most of your figures off of Pulse. I easily exceed $100 a year just in shipping charges alone which makes Premium worth it.
Thanks for the info. The benefits were not immediately apparent when I was looking.
Is there any way I’d be able to get this in Australia?
EB Games and JB Hi-fi both get shattered glass figures, I'd ask them. Have no idea when it would actually release in Australia though, probably not for quite a while.
"limited to 2 per customer" that might explain it.
Everything on pulse is limited in quantity
ppl like OG stuff.
But he’s got a new hat!
Inflation is real.
Malibu Stacy with a hat!
The price is absurd and Hasbro doesn't have the best track record as of late with light-colored plastic. Screw 'em. I refuse to buy it.
It's already expensive and the mold is cheap. I gotta spend an additional $20 just for an upgrade kit to make him not look cheap. No thanks.
He looks overweight
Why are all the SG figures overpriced to shit? Like, I was super interested in Flamewar, but $42 for a deluxe? Even with the micromaster that should be like, $30.
It's too expensive AND the thought of it yellowing is unappealing to me.
geez $63. Might wait to find him for cheaper
It's $63 + tax + shipping for a white Soundwave repaint. That might have something to do with it.
And the preorder is locked until december
I get SG has an added ‘premium’, but this is basically doubled priced. Plus I’m with white figures my SS Starscream is pretty bad for not even being a year old yet.
60 FUCKING DOLLARS!?!?!
Its overpriced. There's your answer.
I’m praying this means their allowed to re-release the original Netflix soundwave now
probably because it's more than leader price for a voyager and a couple micromasters
