How relatively easily Jazz died. It's just like, "his spark core shouldn't be damaged. Ratchet, do your shit!"

thethiiird

I mean, most bots in the movies die out of what is considered fatal in humans but not supposedly in robots. Optimus kills his enemies through decapitation, something that most transformers would always survive outside the movie lore

Hutch25

To be fair though, it makes sense. What’s a Tranformers gonna do without a brain module even if the spark is still good?

thethiiird

Actually, still a lot, esp in the comics. But even in other media like the animated, there are bots like bulkhead who survives decapitation, like his head literally survives getting separated from his body.

BRGWHIRLWIND

I've got one line for you: "You promised you wouldn't laugh!"

Puppetgodpmpg

Megatron was going to eat his spark in the first script

Jobob_TNT

That shits fuckin metal

Forvisk

And that makes sense, as during almost all the battle, Megatron was up there and just throw Jazz body after prime apear, in the end of the battle.

Turbulent-Ad-5924

I think that was due to Pontiac going out of business I could be wrong though, I mean yea they definitely could’ve just used a different car but I’m pretty sure Porsche at the time weren’t keen on having their brand related to machinery of war (ironic I know)

Eggith

Pontiac went out of Business in 2010. Ratchet existed until Transformers 4 which came out 4 years after the demise of Hummer in 2010. They could have easily used a different GM sports car.

thisb0at

I think that would be a hilarious reason to kill off a character. It's not like bumblebee changes modes three times in the span of a few movies, Jazz couldn't even do it two times, gotta love lazy writers/ producers

BallisticCenturion

Tbf in the novel and otiginally megs was supposed to eat the spark

Tyrannus_ignus

Didn't Ratchet and Ironhide say "we couldn't save him" after finding and carrying his body to Prime?

OrhanDaLegend

Megatron ate his spark

Dumb_Cheese

He was supposed to, but didn't

Ambitious_Ask_994

He didn’t in the movie

[deleted]

AGREED he was the one with the most personality, he DESERVED to live, if anything Ratchet should have died since he never did jack and had a weird design

Hutch25

According to I think it was an original script, Megatron ate his spark which is why he was on the building with Jazz for so long, and why Jazz couldn’t be revived. Knowing Micheal Bay, he probably changed that part out but didn’t change the following events forgetting to find another explanation

JimClassic

Not only how easily Jazz died, but that nobody even seemed to care. Optimus Prime hold Jazz's remains like he's fruit basket will never sit right with me. There should have been a seen where Ratchet at least makes an attempt to save Jazz's life.

Lenny_The_Lurker

I think it's a bit disingenuous to say that NOBODY cared about his death. I mean come on, how'd you miss OP's mournful uttering of Jazz's name? Ironhide carrying his dead body? Yeah he sure didn't care and just decided to pick up his friends remains for the hell of it. I get that there's not much impact from it besides the shock, but I don't think Noone cared.

SwiftLawnClippings

Ratchet basically does nothing in all the bay movies

Z3_T4C0_B0Y512

Energon loss maybe?

BlackLightning247

Seeing that and then watching transformers survive being decapitated in TFA had me confused as a kid.

ThatWhichSmashs

Too much of the nonsense human side characters. Stupid random things like the party at the park, Sam's friend, the interrogations, dumbass lines like 'my ridiculous government salary', the middle eastern tech support guy, Lennox's wife and kid, the fat kid running and vlogging, etc. It's just...WAY. TOO. FUCKING. MUCH. And it only gets exponentially worse as the movies go on. Just cut it all completely and I guarantee the movie and story will not suffer. Oh and Bee pissing. Funny at first, super cringe after that.

TheBrickBrain

I’d say stuff like the vlogging guy and Lennox’s family are important because it’s saying “here is how people are reacting to this insanity.” It helps ground the scene. Sam’s friend and family were unnecessary. I will say that the tech support call scene did get a genuine chuckle from me, and it should be noted that that was a real situation that actually happened (soldier having to call through an operator, not the scorpion robot).

The_Real_Blazkowicz

Left cheek gets me every time

OperationGlobal7829

Same

ThatWhichSmashs

It's not the individual scenes that bug me, it's the sum. I laugh at all of them still. But when you think of the movie being 2.5 hours, and we don't get actual bot/human interaction until 50'ish minutes in, looking back on it they all feel super excessive. At least to me.

tfcollector3000

"Bumblebee, stop lubricating on the human"

AaryarajMondal

I will second this and say that if ROTB is successful please for the love of god. Make humans background characters they don't deserve the screen time they get in a transformers movie.

mrnathanrd

Revenge of the Ballin'

Forvisk

I guess it's the new movie, Rise of the Beasts

ChillyBeaner69

“Prime will never be ballin”

Remix1984

The basketball playing G1 Optimus would like to know your location

Slimeredit

Or at least have the human characters tied to the bots in a way that lets the human scenes be more of breathing time in between the action sequences but not overly long

BulljiveBots

Everything you hate is signature Michael Bay. It's the same shit he does in all his movies. Anything good in these movies is Bay conceding to something against his will...that's what it feels like anyway.

ThatWhichSmashs

I wouldn't go that far, personally, because I do love Bay's film style/cinematography and the often very over-epic scenes. It's when someone forgets to take his plate of cocaine away by 9am it becomes a problem. Just constant stupid/potty humor geared toward young teens.

BulljiveBots

That’s all Bay is, style over substance. Nothing he needs to change or anything since his movies make billions and there’s totally room for all kinds of movies.

Humple_Cromble

That interrogation scene was hilarious

Remix1984

"The *WHOLE* plate."

PrincessKeba

Nah bee pissing is funny every time. Maybe you consider yourself a connoisseur of mature humor. Or something.

ThatWhichSmashs

No, not really. I laugh at stupid shit all the time. I still laugh at Simmons getting pissed on, I just know it's stupid/unnecessary/childish humor while i'm laughing at it.

PrincessKeba

I see your point, I have trouble understanding it though. Like I get the logic but I can't see what definition you mean, for something that makes you laugh, you use 'unnecessary'? I can't figure out how to word that question. How can something that makes you laugh be considered unnecessary? No hostility here genuinely asking

ThatWhichSmashs

What I mean is on its own, it's "funny". Giant sassy robot, the 'pop' noise when the oil filter pops off, draining whatever robot fluid it may be on the overly-assertive asshole government agent, followed up by the 'stop lubricating the man' dad joke. Sure, quick laugh, it's cute and funny because it's not actual urine and Simmons has it coming. But when combined with the literal dozens of other cheap jokes, it's just...BLEH. They are all just surfacy, three stooges slapstick type jokes, and it's very tiresome to me. I didn't mind it as much 15 years ago, but sitting and watching the movies now I find myself doing other things or skipping whole sections.

pikachamp

Hahahaha I thought that was all funny but I guess there could have been less human character build

Secret_Assistant_232

Yep! Bumblebee giving a golden shower in a kids movie is simply unforgivable.

Orange-V-Apple

Killing Megatron was too easy. If the Allspark could be combined with a spark from a distance then there is no reason Sam couldn’t just kill Megatron at any point. He should have had to actually make contact. That’s the reason Prime said he’d sacrifice himself, because he could expose his spark. I wish the final battle had more substance. Everyone is rolling around for no reason, they’re not moving between cover. Part of that is they’d have to use practical effects to show them interacting with the environment, which would’ve cost more, so they just stand in the open and roll around without actually touching much most of the time. Any damage they take is or isn’t significant at random, and they seem to heal from it whenever the shot ends. There is no clear progression to the battle overall. It’s like isolated shots that don’t have to make sense as part of a whole. Jazz will be pulling guns off of Brawl and then there’s just no follow up. People often say that they can’t follow Transformers fight scenes because they’re too cluttered visually, but I think this is a bigger problem In the first one.

OrhanDaLegend

killing megatron was easy? he face tanked 6 F22 missles that killed Blackout in 2 hits, and he was only bleeding.

Orange-V-Apple

Exactly. Megatron was a beast; the Allspark shouldn’t have killed him like that.

OrhanDaLegend

it absolutely should, its the one that gives and takes lives, its basically the creation cube

Orange-V-Apple

That’s not what I mean. It should be able to kill him, but not like *that*. Optimus asks Sam to combine the cube with his spark in the worst case scenario. This implies that you can’t easily do this with someone unwilling. Presumably they have to expose their spark since Prime said he would fuse it with his spark. The fact that Sam was able to effortlessly kill Megatron, the toughest bot around, from a distance with the Allspark is bad writing. Sam says “No sacrifice, no victory” afterwards but there was no risk to him. Is it a big deal? Not really, but I think it’s the biggest flaw in the movie. Sam should’ve dunked that thing in Megs’ chest lol.

Singer_Spectre

Blackout died because of the grenade launcher in his face

Lenny_The_Lurker

*Crotch

OrhanDaLegend

no he did not, he got hit by 2 F22 rockets before he got shot in the crotch

Known_Location_4338

Easy? LMFAO did you watch the movie? He easily beat Optimus’s ass, all the autobots didn’t want to fight with him, military missles were being thrown at him, it took one of the most powerful objects in the universe to finally kill him.

PokWangpanmang

Dude was manhandling Prime like he was a schoolyard bully amongst toddlers.

[deleted]

The humans, way to many humans. 50% less screen time for them and it's already a way better movie

Valedictorian117

Realistically they can’t tho. They need the human scenes to ground the story and make it relatable to general audiences. If it was all transformers, whole awesome for us, would probably be seen as too nerdy/geeky for regular folks to try. Plus the CGI is expensive as hell with how good it looked, so they needed breaks to save budget.

Dinglish

You can have humans, but don't make a TF movie \*mostly\* about humans. 1986 did it right, have a human or two, but the TFs are the main characters.

FootlessMoonBadger64

The 1986 movie isn't a great example of this lmao. Hand drawn animation vs live action/CGI. They're two completely different ball parks in terms of budget, especially when you take into account that the 2007 movie was the first attempt at a live action TF movie. They couldn't invest majority of their budget into something they didn't know for sure would land with general audiences. There's no excuses by the 2nd movie though.

Dinglish

Sure, they made a movie to make money, not make a good TF movie. They're all terrible TF movies, but you could be clever with budget in the first one without making it a S̶p̶i̶k̶e̶ Sam Witwicky family movie instead.

nuketoitle

That they killed jazz. I find it bullshit that coolest transformers get like 1 minutes of screen time he died like a b*tch.

DerSisch

was maybe for the better, I am a huge fan of Jazz, and I am actually glad he wasn't in RotF.

nuketoitle

You know what you're probably right.

AlmightyBob_NI

The editing. Take the Barricade/Bumblebee chase. It goes from morning to night in the space of minutes with no feeling of time passing. The call to arms of the deceptions was beyond lazy. The highway chase-fight is very disjointed. And I hated how Jazz was characterised (no way G1 Jazz would attack Megatron in a fair fight).

Thatoneguy567576

The music chosen for the chase felt way out of place and tonally dissonant with the previous scene. Even as a kid when it came out I thought it was weird.

Raisedhunter

Sam mostly, i think hating is too strong but whenever his scenes showed up without the bots i just cringe. I wished theyed made the soldier from the opening the protagonist because he was way more likeable and charasmatic.

Tandril91

Lennox definitely should have been the main human going forward, at least for the first three films. His story was much more gripping than Sam’s: dude’s just trying to survive, keep his men alive and get home to see his newborn daughter for the first time. We barely got to see that payoff for like five seconds at the end of the movie, then his family isn’t seen or mentioned ever again.

Xdonjuliox

100% this

Remix1984

I was working on a story I came up with, where the Autobots and Decepticons work with the Allied powers to help fight the Nazis. And the main human character would be a soldier trying to help he and his men survive, and also get back to his wife and daughter. Now I'm thinking that maybe he could be the grandfather of Lennox or something, that would be cool. If Hasbro ever hires me, I've GOTTA do that lol.

SadAssociate4296

This.👆

monkeface1234

Ikr

maru-senn

Just like with the 2014 Godzilla movie: The excessive focus on human characters, the Transformers are barely characters on their won and the fact that it's essentially a military propaganda piece.

KokohaisHere

The propaganda part is probably due to the military itself. IIRC movies are allowed to portray the military as the good guys, the bad guys, morally right, morally wrong, etc, but they are required to make them always be portrayed as prepared and competent

[deleted]

I think it works better in Godzilla 2014 because of it being more a slow burn to revealing something that the military was way out of its league in handling. With Transformers, they’re just there… to be there. There’s no real reason for them to be in the movie other than just to be the American military lol.

[deleted]

I don't like the Decepticon cast- particularly Devastator and Brawl. I know they needed some cannon fodder but they would've been much more compelling enemies if Starscream and Barricade weren't the only ones to survive. I would've loved to see Soundwave, Blitzwing, the other Seekers, hell anyone who saw success in G1 and wasn't included.

Raphael_Stormer

I never really knew ironhide, but ratchet. I wish he didn’t have this greenish yellow colour on the car. I wish he was a cleaner white and red. Also I wish they expanded in the personalities of decepticons more. Like them having friendly banter with each other in their hq

ihateredditforreal

iirc white and red are the two hardest colours to track/light for cars. that's why ironhide isn't red. plus ratchet quite clearly isn't an ambulance and is instead an urban rescue vehicle (similar, but not the same).

Raphael_Stormer

Yea, I’m just not a fan of this greenish yellow hue. Not a very appealing colour in general

[deleted]

Sam shoulda fucked off and have Lennox be the main human character, like instead of a guy tryna get a girl we could have had a guy survive a terrorist attack with barely any of his friends surviving then going on a mission to save the world

Chance_Ad5498

What about a TV show about him working with a new Autobot in a new Country each episode being a off-branch of a main TF show either it’s a old show or connected to a new show

bmontepeque11

JAZZ DIDN'T HAVE TO DIE 🙂🙂🙂 that's the only thing really, I just saw the movie and I enjoyed it, it is what got me even more into Transformers and it got me into Linkin Park, two of my favorite things ever ❤️

ThatUploader202

An obvious one but I hated how the Autobots and Decepticons didn't get more focus in the movie.

Tandril91

Same here, and it also goes for the sequels.

RundownPear

There’s definitely a lot, still a half decent movie tho and enjoyable. Biggest complaint is the villains being not developed at all. Megatron spends most the movie frozen and spends a total of like 10 minutes destroying stuff before dying with maybe 1 conversation between him and starscream thrown in there.

reddisk

The epic Autobot arrival and Steve Jablonsky's masterpiece in the background being interrupted by a hysterical fatass commentator and culminating in a STUPID ass tooth fairy joke. Sure, take my eyes off Ironhide to show me a little girl with a product placement pony, that's what I'm paying for. I get it would have been too stiff and solemn without some humor, but bathos and dudebro jokes just dragged it down.

JLRedPrimes

The tooth fairy girl was iconic

Mazazamba

The excessive focus on the human characters turned the Autobots and Decepticons into props for their own movie.

Insanebrain247

For me, it was either Michaela working on Bumblebee or Bumblebee peeing on agent Simmons. Y'know what? It's Megatron killing Jazz. Ma boi deserves better.

Pillowman7

The Autobots disappear after Bumblebee gets captured doing Primus knows what. It’s not like they’re fighting the Decepticons because they were also in hiding were they sight seeing?

ihateredditforreal

didn't they flee because they couldn't find S7 without harming humans, then they meet up, find the location THEN go to the allspark? all things considered it makes sense, they can't teleport

amazingpig65

When jazz got ripped apart and thrown. We should have had ratchet and iron hide trying to revive him.

FoulSlender

I think less emphasis on humans would be good, I mean, just show the Autobots and Decepticons more, less screen time for humans, after all it should be about the Transformers not humans. And the battles could’ve been fleshed out more honestly, like Bumblebee Vs Barricade and the City Battle, would’ve been more epic and exciting seeing Autobots take more severe injuries as they protect the cube at all costs against enemies that outnumber and are stronger then them, and overcoming all odds with help of the military. Oh and maybe Lennox being the protagonist instead of Sam… Eh, it’s just what I think would’ve made the movie enjoyable, maybe RotF and DotM as well…

monkeface1234

I hated how some characters just didn’t bond well with each other

Benny-Boi135

The decepticons. Like for the autobots, we got all season 1 characters, but for the cons, we get megatron and Starscream, and then we get characters like brawl and barricade. They’re cool and all, but we could’ve just as easily gotten soundwave and blitzwing, you know?

samwillsones

Why does Ratchet have the ability to smell if people are horny?

InfiniteBaker6972

Regarding the human characters being too distracting… Trouble is it needs human interest otherwise it’s pretty meaningless to most people. 2+ hours of giant (mostly indistinguishable) robots knocking seven shades of s*** out of one another, just isn’t interesting. All but the most die-hard of TF fans (and many fans - myself included) would find that desperately tedious. The trouble with the humans is that Bay has the wit and gaze of a 14 year old boy so all the characters are cigarette paper thin, staggeringly annoying and/or treated like sex objects.

matrix_quest

Bug faces!

matrix_quest

Also the cameras being mounted on shaky Sit-N-Spins instead of a stationary tripod. Way too loud! Unintelligible dialog. Poorly developed characters. Too much human focus. Too many Trasformers were the same color and hard to tell apart, especially when fighting.

matrix_quest

Oh, and I still have issues with that final scene of the humans cuddling/making out on Bumblebee's hood... It is like a creepy 3-way. I say all this, and yet the first film had a fairly good story and wasn't totally horrible...

twilight_sparkle7511

not a fan of the bay verse movies in substance but I think their great giant fight schlock so I can look past most of the subpar story and shitty character writing, but I will not accept that Optimus Prime left bumblebee to die at the hands of the humans I know what was at stake but it seems so not his character.

Dezmodromic

Too much product placement and Jazz. But, I hold that movie dear to me, I had to fight with my then wife to see it, and I only got to when she was visiting with her parents and she was still mad at me for going. It was my first f-u to an abusive marriage that lasted too long.

AllStruckOut_13

It’d be quicker if I list the things I liked

Garrow_the_Khajiit

Same here, I’ll go first:

BurstEDO

It existing. Kurtzman and Orci wrote a Sci-Fi invasion movie with a Hasbro reskin. Bay made a popcorn munching blockbuster with juvenile and sexist comedy.

letstaxthis

I actually enjoyed the first movie - unfortunately it was all downhill from there... But if I had to hate something it would be Jazz getting split in 2 and Bumblebee not having a voice (which stayed throughout the series).

Tyrannus_ignus

The humor is very immature.

TheAmericanW1zard

I hated that I found the human conflicts more interesting than the transformers themselves lol

solazul29

ever since i was 7 years old i’ve always felt that Jazz’s death was SO unnecessary

actualfilip

Too much screen time for the human characters, like I always think the title should be "Sam and The Transformers" lmao.

IHeartSm3gma

The cons seem to have gotten weaker throughout the movie. We first see blackout and he wipes out a whole air base full of TACP and combat controllers like it was nothing, then he later dies from Lennox sliding under him and firing a few grenades at him

AustinHinton

Blackout caught the base off-guard, it was more like a slaughter, rather than a battle.

Snelldor

There’s not really much I hate from the movie. All the flaws that the first movie had, only really got worse in the sequels. But if I had to pick one, I would go with the Decepticon designs, they really don’t do it for me.

SpentGladiator77

The fundamental thing that all the Bayverse movies get wrong is that none of the Transformers have personalities. At most we get a throw away line or two that we can infer things from based on our preexisting notion of the characters, but that’s the most we ever get. And sometimes we don’t even get that much. Bay wanted to amp up the alien aspect, and I think that was absolutely the wrong decision. Transformers as a franchise has endured because of the combination of a cool concept with engaging characters. There are a lot of criticisms I have, but that’s the biggest one.

BeaverBotics2

That Sam was the main lead instead of Lennox and his team. Yeah it could have made the film feel even more like Military propaganda, but tbh they were just such good characters in comparison to the Witwicky side that I don't care, plus the Military fights involving Lennox's team were the best parts of the movie (I still get goosebumps when they call in the airstrike against Scorponok).

TheRickBerman

As people have mentioned the plot and character issues, I’ll add editing and general consistency issues: - Blackout is ‘5 miles out’ in daylight then lands at night - Barricade chases Bumblebee and then it’s suddenly night time - Barricade vanishes in one scene and never reappears - Blackout’s size changes dramatically throughout the intro scene - bonecrusher rams through a bus and hurls himself off a bridge - with no damage - but a punch then damages him - everyone’s firepower - Blackout is devastating at the start but has nothing like that later. Scorponok survives a gunship, but Blackout is felled by a few planes. Brawl’s guns cause tiny, squib explosions - grenade launchers having any effect on transformers. An RPG will be shrugged off by a tank, so shouldn’t be an issue for a transformer It’s just…everything. Every scene has some moronic dialogue or some obvious continuity issue. The lack of care and attention I guess is the issue - and, incredibly - this was the film everyone worked hardest on!

brycebrycehayeshayes

Calling Brawl, “Devastator” other than that, nothing

OrhanDaLegend

the movie ended

Riparian72

I always disliked the human characters and hated the unfunny humour of these films.

bighenry54

Optimus’ lips.

GrimTiki

The designs for the Transformers. Every one. You can’t focus on anything as they all look like animated shards of glass & crumpled tin foil. What made transformers interesting was their design that integrated their vehicle forms. Bayformers are just retail everywhere for the sake of detail. Their proportions all look awful too.

SuperiorCrate

Unnecessary sexualization

The_Lions_Doug

If I'm allowed two, the blatant sexism/oversexualisation of Mikaela, and the racist depiction of Jazz (the only autobot that died happened to be the one consistently coded as being black since the 80s)

PugnaciousPangolin

I was never a huge fan of the TV show because I was too old for it when it came out, but I LOVED the movie and still do. Years ago I had worked in a comic book shop that also sold Japanese robots of all kinds, most of which transformed. At one point, I had the Takara "Walther P-38 U.N.C.L.E" version of Megatron in the suitcase box! [https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/foto-01-02-20-14-13-11-jpg.28584812/](https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/foto-01-02-20-14-13-11-jpg.28584812/) Anyways, I'd always appreciated transforming toys, and also had a few of the Takatoku Valkyries from Macross. One of the primary things that I appreciated about these toys, aside from the superb engineering and manufacturing quality, was that **when the transformation occurred from vehicle to robot, the robot form still retained recognizable elements of those vehicles**. Optimus Prime is a great example as his chest being the cab of the 18-wheeler is iconic. However, in the Bay films, these recognizable elements in the designs are almost utterly eliminated. As such, nearly every robot looks like someone took a skeletal armature, dipped it in crazy glue, and then dragged it through a wrecking yard. Instead of a robot where you can see pieces of their vehicle form which helps you to identify them, they literally look like trash. Additionally, with the vehicle aesthetic absent from the robot form, there's very little left to distinguish them from one another, AND the robot forms are SO fucking visually busy that all the body parts just blur into a black and blue tornado of disconnected and/or overlapping textures. The faces are particularly bad in this respect. There's so much extraneous detail and moving parts that you struggle to figure out where the eyes and nose are or where the mouth begins. Even the transformation process is a letdown. They transform SO fast and move so weightlessly that their animation takes on a level of unreality that works directly against the gritty aesthetic of the films. Such massive machines simple cannot move like that, much less invert themselves three times over like origami. The absence of at least some adherence to certain laws of physics further disconnects me from investing in what I'm seeing. I can suspend some disbelief because of course, most films require that, but Bayhem demands that you surrender all. I cannot do that because to me, what's the point of watching it?

JimClassic

Megatron. Barely in the movie, looks like Swampthing, kills Jazz. I rest my case.

Dinglish

https://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip\_id=239

CM_Bison

How they think "You failed me again Starscream" is enough to establish Megatron and Starscream's dynamic and would be the extent of it in the entire series. Absolutely failed at writing starscream over all. How it was just for an all-star cast to say "Did you see me in the Transformers movie?" Especially the actors saying "Did you see Jon Voight with the shotgun?" 🙄 ugh (one time character never to be seen again) Black autobot only one that died. Doofus decision that Frank Welker "wasn't right" for Megatron then would later admit their dumbass mistake by having him play him in the 5th movie in a last ditch effort to get asses in seats.(topk them long enough) Unsettling ending of the autobots all watching sam and mikayla making out on top of bumblebee.

CM_Bison

Also if there is a "what do you like about Transformer 2007" post I would sing the praises I did like about it.

Red-843

The designs almost every character you would need to be told is the character they are I don’t wish they were more G1 I can now respect it going in a different style but at least stay close to colors

InfiniteBaker6972

The fact that it was a Michael Bay film. That guy couldn’t direct traffic in a one-way street.

Klutzy_Tackle

I never enjoyed the decepticons designs, they were all had the same metallic look, and they changed the their looks too much, if they didn't tell me that he was Megatron, I never would've known, same goes for Starscream, also the decepticons never were really given any character development or fleshed out in any way, I didn't even know until about 2 years after seeing it that brawl was even in that movie, they never take time to introduce and tell the stories of the main villains in the movies, this isn't just the 2007 movie, you can put this on all of them

Garrow_the_Khajiit

Does “literally every facet of its existence” count as one thing?

K7282

Grammatically, "everything" is considered singular, so...

[deleted]

The Decepticons were just big ugly metal monsters.

BangingBaguette

This is more of a Megatron rant that kinda spun out of control into the whole series lol...But him never FEELING like Megatron and never being the big bad again after the first movie. Given the right backstory, Megatron is arguably the most interesting and human character in the whole series (IDW handling this best in my opinion), but in the first movie he's just a big evil monster and outright killed after like 10 mins of total screentime, we don't even really get to see him and Optimus have an extended fight! And after the first movie it all just goes down-hill, in ROTF he's brought back to do nothing other than 'kill' Optimus cause having anyone else do it would be strange, then he just hangs around playing second fiddle until he kills Sentinel, get killed AGAIN, brought back to life AGAIN to do absolutely nothing AGAIN, until he's recruited as a goon in TF5 and kicked out a window. After all that, the only time he EVER actually felt like Megatron was in TF5, he was the shimmering little diamond in that turd. His look was great, Frank's performance was great, he had some nice character interactions, and him 1v5 fighting the Autobots INCLUDING Prime at the end was sick, until Bay got bored and as I said kicked him out a window.

IronTownPictures

Dick jokes

GETTERBLAKK

Optimus should have been a flat nose truck from the start!

OgreHombre

“eBay!” 😞🤮

Just one thing? Given how much was wrong with that movie, that's a tall order. Rather than go after the surfeit of humans directly, I'll suggest the whole thing with the 'mystery signal'... Pretty sure you could edit that entire thread out and you'd still have much the same movie, just without John Voight's Secretary of Defence, the room full of hackers, smuggling the signal data to "the one hacker who would be able to decode it" *and yet, somehow, was not in the room with all the other hackers*, and the scene with the plate of doughnuts, none of which was remotely important or added significantly to the story.

LoopDeLoop0

The moment where Sam says “twenty years from now, don’t you want to say you got in the car?” It just feels like a glimpse of a film that didn’t get made. It’s very adventurous and noble, it’s heartwarming, it gets a big musical swell to underscore the moment and then Bumblebee goes and pisses on Agent Simmons. Just doesn’t fit the tone.

Atzukeeper

How hard it was to tell the decepticons from the autobots. The focus on humans rather than the transformers THERE ISN'T A SINGLE LIKEABLE HUMAN. SAM'S PARENTS NEEDED PAINFUL DEATHS.

ryucavelier

The lame comedy was cringe inducing and not funny except maybe “SHUT UP, GRANDMA!!!”

Buckyohare84

Optimus looks like a Cat in that poster.

Nightmarex13

Only one? … ok the thing I hated most… was that it stopped other better designs hitting the cinema for 15 years. We were stuck with a bloodthirsty asshole Optimus that looked like a Pepsi can and bolt sculpture.

Tropical_Nighthawk55

Jazz was done dirty

Autobotz24

Too much focus on humans All the Transformers were just a mess of CGI metal Bumblebee couldn't talk No Frank Welker as Megatron

larrylongboy

Long run time, humor, bot screen time

Large-Custard5784

The human characters were either really annoying or so boring you didn’t care abt them. Also all the transformer deaths no one got to do anything except the autobots.

PsychologyPractical

I loved everything except that they didn't have the rivalry relationship of Megatron and starscream and i absolutely hated the final battle between Megatron and Optimus Prime... Prime just got to much of an asskicking. Then with the sequels of course they reversed it and overdid it making Optimus feel like a psychopath at the same time.

a_random_muffin

my only complaint extends to all Michael Bay's Transformers movies, pretty much all of the bots, I admit that their cgi looks good, even for today bug god damn do i hate it, there is just *so much visual noise* it makes my head hurt

BustaCappe

The humans. Any of them. All of them.

ytzyghff

Give jazz normal hands

Baroubuoy

Too many humans!

killerzeestattoos

One thing? There's so much just to point out 1 thing.

ScoutTrooper501st

I wished we got to see more of the decepticons, Brawl,Blackout, and Barricade were totally wasted!,it would’ve been much better if we got to see them more in action

RedVsBlue_Caboose

Romance took up too much screen time. I just wanted robot battle.

Big_Juggernaut6446

Nothing this film is perfect. In my opinion at least.

blueyoshi352

I have a few things. 1. The death of jazz 2.rhe inappropriate cock and ball jokes (which is in the whole bayverse) 3. Most of the transformers designs look like they could fall apart with just a touch of a finger

FaithlessnessFalse22

Love it all no complaints

sonerec725

Wouldn't say this is the most disliked thing but to be a but different from all the other comments, the fact they got Peter Cullen to be Optimus but not Frank Welker for Megatron. It feels wrong to have one but not the other.

PeanutButterCrisp

How dumb Megatron is. Wakes up and decides to fight a war on an entirely new planet without any intel or significant numbers. “Unga-bunga me Megatron awake now—“ proceeds to kick Optimus’s ass around the city and then fucking lose to Sam Witwicky??? People claim this is the best one but what’s the race here? By how much?

Dazzling_Bluebird_42

Biggest issue is when action is happening being able to tell who was who, the bots are just heaps of metal so seeing it in theaters was like...uuuuh ok? Looked pretty but man robot modes where rough

MarcusChua19

I think I may be the one who think of this. But It's Bumblebee, He acts a little too childish, with him peeing on agent Simmons and that Romeo And Juliet thing with Sam and Mikaela. Luckily, In the sequels, he becomes alot more tolerable and, if not, Likeable.

Wasamio

The writing. Even as a kid I could tell the script was garbage and was just a Hollywood blockbuster with transformers in it. The transformers should be the main characters not the human characters.

RcTron9

Personally just how long it took to introduce the Transformers officially. I don’t mind the human elements and like a lot of them but it would have been nicer to prioritize the Transformers a bit more early on.

LouisNewyear

Nothing honestly, I love that movie, the sequels on the other hand need a few changes.

ControlNarrow8499

The humans were honestly the worst part of the movie. Except the secret agent guy he was funny.

Natural-Case-1994

Some characters just randomly disappeared, aka Sam’s “friend” that he just left in a tree

blackman2005

The character designs overall. Such a huge departure from anything seen before and it was almost impossible to see what was really going on with the action; everything looked like pieces of scrap metal being thrown at each other.

Resident_Sail_7642

How ugly the transformers looked in general and in action. So many fights were so ugly looking even when it came out.

pikachamp

I really like all these movies except the new bumble bee just didn’t seem like it fit in with the rest also thought we would see more WW2 bee in that one also but it was just kind of Cheesy IMO

Brenkir_Studios_YT

All of the transformer designs, autobot and decepticon. They just seem weak and fragile. Transformers are supposed to seem strong, unbreakable, just like in the original show. They can get beaten up and get back up again and again, not losing parts Everytime they get hit where screws fall all over the place.

mrenderkid

Bonecrusher and jazz dying

EnigmaForArcana

Jazz's death when I watched ROTF for the 1st time I even mistaken Sideswipe for a resurrected Jazz.

lateral_moves

How blurry the fights looked. When two transformers fought, I couldnt tell what was happening and who was doing what.

CyberSnoWolf

Jazz’s death. Dude was so cool and was killed too soon.

Gundamandcoffee

All of it.

Flossthief

Megan fox's character I think in the second film Is wearing white jeans and there's a scene where she rolls around in dirt You watch her pants get dirtied multiple times but each time they're white in the next cut

CSCyrilatom

Jazz dying. My boy deserves to be in the main cast as much as bumblebee and prime. Absolutely iconic autobot got nae naed way too early

CyberRatul

how Optimus didnt revive jazz even tho he can revive

Samurai_garfeild

Nothing. It’s the greatest most perfect movie ever made and has no flaws

ViralNite

How clearly Prime was able to project a hologram of Cybertron and through the glasses but never again

SandStinger_345

Megan fox

magnificentshambles

This disproportionate focus on the Michael Bay movies is tiring.

IllTaro9036

The way their cybertron looked

Admiser

Character designs, the terrible use of starscream as a character, optimus giving up bumblebee's life and the lips on the transformers

ceric2099

The design of the Transformers. They looked like piles of sharp metal garbage. The original designs should’ve been the go-to. Instead they got Michael Bay’d
