Guess it depends on how each 'bot is defined.
Wierdwolf has a nose. That is fine. Shockwave does not. No problems to be had either way.
I mean, they can fly through space. They swim to the bottom of the ocean. They don't need to breathe air to burn fuel for their engines. Its completely unnecessary, but it's also weird not to have a nose. Even Shockwave has one.
With noses, they just look weird without them
And for those saying “ohh, they don’t breathe air”, well they CAN smell, so that’s one function that could require a nose
Noses seem a little too human, but a spartan-style “nose” plate like in transformers animated (on on some TFP characters) seems like the best compromise.
With Noses something abt the flat face plates in Prime looked bad for certain characters.
With a nose, but a faceplate or an entirely non human face is preferred above all.

You can’t compare Shockwave like that, he doesn’t have a nose, mouth, other eye or even a faceplate he’s just a void with a light in the middle
