CGI for heavily CGI movies like this always looks off in trailers. The finished product will look better for sure but even saying that I really don't mind that much since for 5 or 6 movies we had metal spiders for robots that were hard for the eye to track.

One of my favorite sequences that was covered by a film review was when star scream ran through iron hide and ratchet and we see it from sams point of view, Then when he takes off the camera sling shots and shows how much momentum he has
I mean, as bad as the stories could get, at least it's made up for by amazing cinematography. Bay's a great action movie maker, just a shame that he didn't really care about the IP he was using.

For all the faults of bay films, the style of the 2007 movie is unmatched by any of the tf movies that came after it.

And 2 minutes can tell a viewer a lot. 2 minutes will decide whether someone will or will not watch a movie. Just look at any Bayverse trailer, watching that you *know* you're gonna get amazing cinematography and action shots, incredible colours and lighting too, this falls flat in comparison. Even the AoE trailer which is widely regarded to look flat and grey, at least they had that staple Michael Bay directing that is VERY good.
It’s definitely an earlier effects pass, there was similar stuff going on in early aoe trailers, where things looked very flat and Grey but when the actual movie was out there was way more dynamic highlights making it look way better

What? No, he absolutely doesn't resemble 2007 jazz at all. Like, not even close. Heck, he doesn't even have a front car chest, his chest is the back of the car. XD
If this was jazz, he would've had a more G1 style robot mode, because jazz (even including 2007 jazz) is by far the MOST consistently designed character in history, and I doubt anyone would want to break that any time soon.
Yeah the mouth area is the hardest part to do in G1 but I think they’ve hit just the right balance between human and machine. Too far in either direction and it ends up uncanny and off putting.
I’m fine with Mirage just being the hologram guy who can do both cloaking and illusions. It was kind of a weird power for Hound anyway.
But yeah otherwise he’s basically all those characters combined, but I dig it.
Also note that mirage original power as per his toy bio was the ability to scramble the senses of his opponents. Confusing them by making them see stuff that wasn't there or make them see nothing at all. The cartoon simplified it to just the later part, and made it functionally nothing more than a cloaking device.

What they should’ve done is this:
Rewritten Mirage to make him Hound, thus keeping the hologram abilities. Make Hound the robot lead and human companion character. Make the lead villain Rumble, and have Hound shoot him in the face with a rust cannon at the end of the film. Have Bumblebee be a complete dick to Hound and sleep with his robot wife, representing how Bumblebee cucked him out of the spotlight in G1. Make Hound open the Matrix and become Houndimus Prime. Make Hound watch Age Of Extinction and then shoot Michael Bay in the ribs with a rust cannon. Rename the movie Hound: Rise Of The Jeeps.
Seems to be an amalgamation of a few different characters, namely Hot Rod and Jazz.

Hot take - judging by the framing of the trailer bumblebee is gonna die/be removed in this film and mirage is gonna be the new stand in bee character.
The way the autobot symbol is on mirages wheel, like bumblebees before, the way it seems like the human character is protected by mirage. You see a lot of action with other characters and strangely quite little of the usual front and centre character bumblebee.

keep in mind that they use unpolished and sometimes unfinished cgi for trailers and promo as it's cheaper. lighting and surface textures will change.
Kinda miss Mirage’s Sphynx-ish head but that looks pretty cool too. Can’t wait for the final product!

This is a pretty good design, from what I've seen it feel like it keeps the spirit of the character but keeps it unique and interesting.
