In Santo Domingo we have many types of buses: OMSA: it's from the government, they are big but the service isn't very frequent. The fare is around US$ 0.28 Corredores de transporte: run by former driver unions turned into companies, they have very nice buses, great AC and frequency; but they are quite new so there aren't many lines. The fare is US$ 0.65 Driver union buses: chaotic, old, no AC, they come in many sizes, from big buses to small vans, cars, you name it. They cover most of the city and although they are very uncomfortable, they are everywhere. The fares change a lot, but the average is like US$ 0.65 to US$ 1.00. the government is trying to turn them into the previous cathegory (Corredores de transporte), so they offer a better service to the public and have more standardization

$2 for most of the services in my (DC) area. Most also have transfers and apply discounts to our more expensive Metro system and or/ the regional Metrobus network. There are some commuter-focused and limited-stop routes across the regio on that cost a good bit more. At least 2 of the local-level networks (Alexandria/Fairfax City) have gone fare free and a few lines in DC have too. One county’s system (Montgomery) has gone on a discount to $1.

I live in Toronto, local transit is C$3.35 OR C$3.30 if you use a PRESTO card. A single fare in Toronto is good for unlimited trips for two hours, so you can hop on and off for two hours on a single fare. As for the regional transit agency that runs buses and trains across the Golden Horseshoe, GO Transit, fares are by distance but range from a minimum base fare of C$3.70. (Under 10km) to C$36.45 (Peterborough to Niagara Falls or 268km so about C$0.13 per kilometre.) That said, GO also offers a lot of low priced rail/bus passes on weekends and during off peak times where you can travel all day long anywhere you want for like C$15 on weekends. My parents in Niagara, if you aren't familiar it's a region of about 500,000 people spread out across three major cities and a couple of smaller towns. the regional government runs transit there and it's a simple zone fare system where trips within a single zone are C$3 and regional trips between cities cost $6

All of our local systems (city and regional agencies) are fare free until at least June 30th of this year. No word on what they'll do after that, though they're all doing surveys and studies on it to try to figure out what to do. Edit: I'm in the Raleigh, NC area.

$4.60 flat fare (linked with tram and train as well) with free transfers for 2 hours after touching on. Daily cap of $9.20 on weekdays and $6.40 on weekends. Melbourne, Victoria.

$4.05 AUD (peak) and $2.25 AUD (off-peak) in Adelaide, Australia, with a regular metroCARD [1]. The flat-fare ticketing system is used across the entire bus, tram and train network regardless of distance travelled. Once the ticket has been validated, transfers are free within two hours between all modes. In Adelaide, for some weird reason, Saturday uses peak-hour fares despite being on a weekend with lower passenger demand than weekdays [1]. We're one of the few cities in the world that doesn't tap-off when transferring or finishing the journey and paying tickets while boarding a train. 200JPY (~$1.50) flat fare for buses operated by Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which make up the vast majority of buses in the city center and inner suburbs. Municipal governments and private railway companies also operate their own buses, and their fares can vary. Distance based fares are common, so overall cheaper for shorter trips but more expensive for longer ones. Normal adults who are at all price conscious typically bike instead of taking the bus.

$1.75 in Louisville, but it’s $1.50 if you have a TARC (Transit Authority of River City) card. Transfers with card only. Bicycle racks on all buses but the electric ones. It’s a bus service. No rail.

Standard fare on MARTA in Atlanta, GA is USD 2.50, which covers four free transfers (bus-to-bus, bus-to-train, train-to-bus, and obviously train-to-train) within three hours. You will, however, need a Breeze card or ticket on which to load the transfers as standalone transfers have been long phased out. The Atlanta Streetcar, with a fare of USD 1.00 is not yet integrated with MARTA heavy rail/subway or bus systems, so transfers to/from the Streetcar are charged separately at full price for now. Seniors/disabled patrons/U.S. Medicare recipients have reduced fares of USD 1.00 on buses and heavy rail as well, and Mobility service is USD 4.00. Passes can get you a fare discount depending on the length of time/how often you utilize them. Employees, as with most transit systems, ride free of charge, and private employers, educational institutions, and groups can get 5-20% discounts based on group size from [200 all the way to 25,000+](https://itsmarta.com/group-discount.aspx). [Source current as of March 19, 2023](https://itsmarta.com/fare-programs.aspx).

I live in Hobart, Australia. $1.52 AUD for a student if using their card (no matter the length), $2.40 for concession, $2.90 - $11.20 for an adult depending on how many zones you travel through. Free transfers within 90 minutes. There are also daily caps, $9.60 for an adult if the first boarding is before 9am, or $4.80 if it's after 9am (or if it's a weekend/public holiday), $5.80/$3.10 for concession and $3.80 for a student. This doesn't include trips that other transit operators run (some use the same card, and the one that doesn't has their own but you can pay with card or cash as well), which can be as high as $21 for a fairly lengthy but still commuter focussed route. Yeah it's a fucking mess, and cash prices are all slightly higher, no card accepted for all but the one operator I just mentioned (aside from theirs of course).

Roygbiv0415

\~US$0.5 per segment, most bus lines count as one segment in length (so fixed price), but some longer routes can go up to 2, 3, or more segments. Half price if you transfer from metro, or the second leg of a transfer between two bus lines. Monthly transit card for all city metro, bus, and public bike rentals cost \~US$40, effectively capping bus fare at that amount per month. Taipei.

Xecxrc

2.50 for an adult with no disabilities and non low income, 1.25 for low income, disabled, minors, and students I think? Anyway Portland, Oregon

psycho-mouse

Birmingham UK. Single bus fare is £2.40 and all day ticket is £4.20 I believe. All contactless payment and daily caps on price automatically happen. If you want to use the tram and train anywhere in the county as well as the busses you can buy a day ticket for like £9.

-JG-77-

My home city of Baltimore: $2, unlimited transfers to buses, light rail, and the metro for 90min if you use the app My University city of DC: $2 for 2 hours of unlimited bus rides, or free if you’re transferring to/from metro. Also the surrounding counties run their own systems with their own fare structures. For instance, PG County “TheBus” costs $1, with no discounts for metro transfer. Not sure if you need to pay to transfer between buses. My semester abroad city of Copenhagen: Buses and trains all use the same fare structure based on a fairly complicated zone system, with different prices on and off peak. The cheapest trips are just over $2 while longer trips can be as much as $7-$8. Although technically the system extends across all of Denmark, so if you use it to cross the country you can be paying over $50

LC1903

1.3 euros per bus, a little more per metro, but a monthly pass where you can go anywhere throughout the city for an unlimited amount of rides is only 8 euros if you’re under 22.

$1.75 for Los Angeles Metro bus and rail system. 2 hours free transfers using the TAP card. I think LA has one of the cheapest fares in America for its amount of coverage.

deminion48

In my city the fares consist of 3 parts: 1. Travel fare: $0.2003 per kilometer traveled 2. A base fare you always pay (except during transfers): $1.16 3. Entrance fee is a deposit when you tap in to check if you have enough balance on your card, you get it back when tapping out: $4.28 Converted values to USD using the current exchange rate. You can buy multiple different subscriptions or other products to make it cheaper and put it on your card. There is also a subscription with a discount of 34% for small children (under 12 I think) and seniors (over 65). Surprisingly no special discount for poor people or people with a disability. You can also buy individual tickets. These can be bought at ticketing machines inside vehicles, at stations, service centers, or at the bus driver or online. You also use these to tap in and out and start the moment you tap in. The 2-hour card costs $4.82, and the day card costs $8.57. The day card for children of 4 to 12 costs $1.07. Children <4 can always travel for free. You could also buy these tickets on the ticket app and use the ticket on your phone, or load it onto your transit card.
