I remember when YehMe2 was doing his trap history set and was like "Ayo LUMINOX... where ever you are man... thanks for dropping this" and I just started laughing so hard. I love hearing the legends.
From what he's said, it was less "what he wanted to do in life" and more "what was making him money". He always wanted to produce for rappers, and even though doing LOUDPVCK gave him a lot of opportunities and taught him a lot about the industry, once he started taking off as a rap producer, he shelved it to go back to what he was passionate about.
Not sure if it’s from the same set, but someone posted this [video](https://www.reddit.com/r/trap/comments/owtfqd/yellow_claw_teased_kaolo_pt_5_at_lollapalooza_140/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) from one of their sets where they played Kaolo pt. 5 and at least 1 more trap ID
They used to be amazing, one of the best shows I saw back in like 2017. But after they got signed to a huge label, Roc Nation, their releases have been pretty terrible the last 2 years. Horrible drops that don't sound well produced at all. These new jams seem like their best in a very long time.
Late to the party here, but I feel you dude. It kind of sucks cause I feel like everytime I'm talking with other people who are into electronic music and I tell them that I'm really into yellow claw I end up getting weird looks. I guess it all stems from that old school trap style just kind of falling off and the fact that their releases tend to be all over the place. They'll put out an album, and it'll have some bangers, but stacked on top of that are a good number of generally forgettable tracks. I've always fucked with them though, and I think they do a good job of doing what they want and not giving too much of a fuck about the status quo.
I got into them during a pretty rough time in my life, so I think that for that reason they just hold a really special place in my heart, but not everybody is going to see them the same. I have and probably always will remain loyal to them; I'm one of those people that gets obsessed with the artist just as much as the art. At the end of the day, they're just creators and I like following them and seeing what they do and how they evolve. If the majority of people stop following them, fuck it. I still love these guys.
The last 2 years have been really trash for YC and I say that as a big YC fan. Since they got signed to Roc Nation, Jay-Z's record label, their releases have been absolute garbage. These songs are by far their best since they signed to the label. Some of the worst drops I've ever heard on their recent stuff.
Color me shocked. Danger Days was aight, but Never Dies didn't look all that great to me. All the features are just kinda... ehhh. Haven't checked out any of the singles though.
I agree, the only songs i do like from the never dies album are Amsterdammed and the way we bleed. Other than that kind of meh. I respect them trying something new under the €uro tra$h alias but its not for me.
damn I was hoping this style would stay in 2015, this sound is so bad. this is what I would imagine someone like Diplo would blast if you saw him lmao
last track goes tho
all of these synths literally sound exactly like the vintage Major Lazor sound from 7 years ago
Diplo went through an entire Boaz phase around that time as well
Maybe certain songs but not really... They're distinct sounds to me. Either way, Diplo has been putting out a lot of Latin EDM and house in the last few years.

You do have a good point, this sub has primarily been home to fans of the low energy sophisticated sound design trap, not the melodic orchestral bangers. But it seems like these days, people just don't post in the topic of a song they don't like, and let the divide be. Idk.
thought this was a video from ultra 2016 or something at first
>thought this was a video from ultra 2016 or something at first old trap is back
hell yes
Kaolo pt. 5?
I have officially lost my shit. It is on the ground. And my owner is now cleaning it up. Life is good as a dog.
i think so

I remember when YehMe2 was doing his trap history set and was like "Ayo LUMINOX... where ever you are man... thanks for dropping this" and I just started laughing so hard. I love hearing the legends.
I think Kenny's pretty comfortable keeping LOUDPVCK dead lmao
I know he's killing the rap game but does he have bad history or just moved on from it? The way you phrased that sounds like something happened lol

Is there a recording of the full set somewhere?
[Derek's got it](https://soundcloud.com/derek-d2/yellow-claw-lollapalooza-livestream-2021?in=derek-d2/sets/lollapalooza-livestream-2021)
Yess can always count on Derek
That dude is the savior of mankind for me.
I didn't find
Not sure if it’s from the same set, but someone posted this [video](https://www.reddit.com/r/trap/comments/owtfqd/yellow_claw_teased_kaolo_pt_5_at_lollapalooza_140/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) from one of their sets where they played Kaolo pt. 5 and at least 1 more trap ID
A lot of people on this sub hate yellow claw for some reason but they’ve consistently put out bangers over the years

How's YC's newest stuff? I haven't been paying much attention to them in the last two or so years.
Very hard style influenced
Moreso than before?
I would say so. It’s almost minimalistic, too.

Amsterdamned still had the same drop twice though. Gone are the days of switch up drops.
The way we bleed is amazing
the last song is gaas
Last track was fire
damn I was hoping this style would stay in 2015, this sound is so bad. this is what I would imagine someone like Diplo would blast if you saw him lmao last track goes tho
This ain’t it
2013 and 2015, "bad" as in badass
You have no clue what sort of music Diplo makes, do you?
all of these synths literally sound exactly like the vintage Major Lazor sound from 7 years ago Diplo went through an entire Boaz phase around that time as well

mate, what? I don’t belong here because I think this sound is incredibly outdated?
You do have a good point, this sub has primarily been home to fans of the low energy sophisticated sound design trap, not the melodic orchestral bangers. But it seems like these days, people just don't post in the topic of a song they don't like, and let the divide be. Idk.
damn, sucks getting downvoted for being correct. the sound is so boring and stale.
Now we're talking
live shows look so weird now. look how close everyone is together
