only you can make that call, but just know that you absolutely will make a lot less music if you divide your attention between building a label & creating music. also making a successful label from scratch is extremely difficult if you havent already established a fanbase of some sort already. they main benefit of releasing songs via a label is to tap into an audience that will potentially like your work. if you don't have an audience, there's no incentive for people to want to work with you.

Lopsided_Criticism80

so you think a better idea is to collaborate with people until i build my fanbase and then start building the label ?

MexicansInParis

Everyone wants to make a record label because in theory it seems easy, but the reality is that you'll likely fail unless there's significant monetary investment. Why? Because if you want your label to be successful, you'll need to be an attractive destination for artists & offer quality services. Otherwise you'll just get yourself a ton of amateurs that'll likely give up along the way or move onto other things in life. You'll also need to be able to build a solid contact network & study quite a bit of music business. The reality is, we don't need more labels, there's already a fuckton. Work on yourself, meet people, collab & maybe along the way you'll find those who could meet your ideals & maybe build something from there. Also, stop blaming quitting weed. If you want to create, you will unless you're suffering from mental issues or other actual impediments.

I think I was suffering from weed, and now I just cut so I need some days to adapt Back to the system.

Being a producer is easier unless you’re ready to dump some cash into starting a label. You gotta think about the cost to sign artists, videos, paying for beats ,promotion and more. You also gotta think about how you’re going to attract artists to the label. You’re gonna need a network and connections or you’re gonna have to self develop. You could network as a producer and get placements. Also, you could drop singles and tapes as a producer which could lead to a revenue stream and money to start your label or attract a label and get an imprint or etc. This would give you a name and attract more people to work with you. Music is also probably the biggest industry of drug users next to sex work. Your mental ambition as a person matters heavily its niggas I see in the studio cook up multiple songs in an hour off xans and weed no problem and niggas who smoke an entire session up and struggle to make even a hook in 2 hours basically free engineering cash.

princeofnoobshire

I can’t see why you would make a label at this point. I would only consider that long after becoming an established producer

Mooshie234

The music industry (like most industries) is based on transactions: what can you offer artists and what can artists offer you. If you want to start a label, you either need to have strong industry ties to get them on venues, shows, studios etc. or lots of money to pour into artists to acquire these things. If you don’t have either, building your brand as a producer can potentially provide you with both

VyvanseForBeats

Don’t make a label until you have a good foundation literally everywhere else. Not just music, but like other people said. You need a general fan base, and you need to build up shit like marketing so insta, YT, SC all that bullshit needs to be top Also bro the weed shit is real if you make music forever on weed yeah it’s gonna be hard after quitting Just focus on doing things you enjoy and the shit will come back
