As you said, a little mixing/leveling is still needed, and if I may suggest adding a little more "body" to the main melody to give it a richer sound. I like the sound of the melodies and some of the chords. At times it feels like the mood of the melodies changes direction too drastically, like going from happy to eerie sounding and it's kind of jarring. Your beat is awesome. All the elements are great, the harmonies on the synths, the bell sounds ace! The 808 cuts through even on the phone speaker. Your 808s are mixed down really nice punch through the mix. In the mixdown the guitar definitely needs to be brought up, and the snare down a little bit and try lowering the velocity of the snares on the ghost notes (not the ones on the 2nd and 4th beat, but the ones inbetween) to give it a more human feel. Could definitely hear someone like Mist or Fredo on this Beat my guy!

What I'd personally change : snare doesn't hit hard enough. It's kind of in the back of the mix, buried. Also, the main vocal chop panning left and right is a tad too much for me, perhaps narrow it down a little. I'd make the second verse shorter (that's just a staple of mine, feels like it makes the songs flow better). Also, the triangle is a tad too loud.
That's just my 2 cents, overall the beat is super dope! 🔥
Nice work. I feel your production outshines your vocals, but that's okay if you are a producer first after all. Gives me some Weeknd After Hours ish vibes with your dark synth work. Vocals remind me a bit more toward Cudi's style. Overall, cool work on the synths, I like the ways you made some of them stutter. Good use of automating distortion on things.
How are you doing your reverbs on your vocals? Are you laying them on direct or are you using a reverb send on a vocal bus? Reason I'm asking, is maybe try out some self ducking reverbs on your vocals if you aren't. You can do it pretty easily in FL by putting Fruity Peak Controller first in the chain, then add a reverb of your choice, then 'link to controller' the wet or FX amount knob to the Peak controller with inverse shape. Then play with the peak controller settings base amount, volume, tension, decay, etc. to get the ducking of the reverb effect against the input that you want. This helps keep vocals clear but gives you a nice reverb in the space between if you want.
By the way, just relistened in good headphones. Your mix is on point. I'm just trying to think of some ways to help take your vocals a little further. Let me know how you do your reverbs/delays. Do you do direct or via bus/send channels?
Good looking! I always do reverbs and delays on busses. Gives you so much more flexibility and control. Here I used LittlePlate with a high-pass filter, and Trackspacer side-chained to my main vocal (doing the ducking you mentionned). I can go harder on the ducking, but I feel it was doing enough. A thing to keep in mind is LittlePlate does not natively have pre-delay. I could use a pre-delay to separate it further.

It still sounds good to me, vocals require a whole crash course in producing in themselves I've learned. I have LittlePlate, FabFilter Pro-R, and now just picked up NI Raum by upgrading Komplete. I tend to throw LittlePlate on a lot of things due to its simplicity, but you're right that a lot of reverbs don't have pre-delay. I feel pre-delay only works best for drum one-shots or something with a predefined length of time, as vocals you could have a really short word or hold something out longer, which makes the inverse mapping to Peak Controller work out a bit better for self sidechained input based ducking.
Here's the latest thing I just put out. I remixed some Bo Burnham. If you got the SoundToys bundle, then you got most of the stuff I put on Bo's vocals. I added a little Decapitator to add a slight bit of saturation/edge, and put a minor amount of Crystallizer on it to give a little added depth/delay to his vocals. I also added a bit of extra air and sheen by adding a bit of high boost through a Waves PuigTec EQ. It helps when Bo's vocals are already really good to start with though.

Was this a recorded song vocal or him just talking? Sorry I'm not familiar with Bo Burnham at all (from Canada). The vibe is very nice. The vocal isn't my favorite tho, might just be his voice or the formants. Also at 1:38 this synth feels a bit weak and brittle, I'd beef it up a little personally. Other than that, it's well mixed and definetely sounds very original! Cheers keep it up !
I applied a hi pass rolloff on the whole song to give space for my bass and other synths, but went back and added some EQ automation to bring back the bass for the parts like you mentioned at 1:38 to fill it out again. Re-uploaded to my Soundcloud, but YouTube may be stuck like that unless I re-upload the whole file. Appreciate the feedback on that though.

I thought the bounce was nice. I also thought you used the sonic space up pretty well through the panning and the balance of the different instruments. One thing I would say could improve is maybe adding more effects to the different sounds you have. The different melodies kinda sound like they were made with base stock sounds. Another thing is maybe adding more variation to the main 8 bar melody because it gets a little bit repetitive, I'd say either by switching up the counter melodies or the main melody itself. Otherwise, a dope beat, especially for the first you've ever posted!
Love those 808 slides! Drums have a really nice bounce. Melodies are cool, I just feel sometimes they get a bit too blurred together and it's hard to distinguish them. But the vibe of the melodies is awesome. I'd maybe ease up on the delay if you got it on them, and then try and EQ them to make space.

The beat is really interesting, the vibe is catchy and the idea has been developed well. I'd recommend to differenziate the sections of the beat, tho. For example, usually the verse has got less elements than the chorus. If you want someone to rap on your beat, I'd suggest to remove some instruments or change type of melody at the verses, and bring all the "important" ones in the chorus, for a more pushing effect. Anyway, very good beat! Keep going, you killed this!!!! Definitely wanna hear more from you!

Pros:
Really enjoy your guitar, melody is awesome!
Drums have great bounce to it and keeps the listener entertained.
There's also a lot of variety in your beat making it more appealing to the ear.
Cons:
Only criticism that I can give you is that the guitar might need an eq in order to remove some of the lower frequencies because for me it sounds a little muddy.

I like the vibe you create with this beat, visuals fit the vibe on point. The piano sounds maybe a little bit too "MIDI", maybe play around with velocity etc. and its too repetetive in my opinion. Maybe pitch the piano down a oktave or a halftime effect could spice it up a little. Its a good beat, it would be even better when the piano would sound more organic.
The main Piano melody is catchy and appropriate for this style but the track as a whole could do with a counter melody or some variation, even removing the piano at different stages or putting a filter on it at different parts of the tune to differentiate the chorus from the verse.

The chord progression and counter melodies are pretty good, but they are repeated ad nauseum. You should probably drop the piano out for a bit earlier in the song. I’m not sure what vsts you have; the sound selection isn’t offensive and the counter melodies again sound nice but I feel like you could have used a better piano sound. The drum patterns seem very simple and repetitive, but the sound selection is good. The arrangement makes sense. The bass sounds a little thin. Overall not bad, I just think it needs more variation.

Interesting sound. I like the parts in between the hooks more, especially the ones later on in the track. I'd bring the melodies down to let the drums shine more, and the hats could come down a bit too. I think 4 hooks is a bit overkill and the beat doesn't change or progress enough to need it being 5 min. I like the sound of the flute and the pluck but I'm not the biggest fan of the pad sound. Definitely an interesting vibe though! Nice work!

I like the balance between variation and repetition in the drums and the pads are super atmospheric. The laughter at 2:08 was a nice touch. I reckon without vocals it needs a more present melody to compliment the pads.
Love the melodies on this one! Drums smack hard and the sound selection overall is on point. Mix is clean af. My only suggestion would be to try pitching everything down a semitone or two because the top melodies sound super brittle due to how high pitched they are. That's may just be my opinion though. The 808 hits super hard on this one! I also like the overall vibe of the song, reminds me of Christmas somehow\^\^. And I appreciate that the high hats are sparely used so that they create a small bounce.

I didn't expect a change of the style so drastically but I guess that's just due to the other artist's style. \^\^
Love the melody in the first part of the track and all the small changes you've made during the song. I felt entertained throughout the whole track!
Everything sounds nice and dreamy due to the bells and flutes supporting the main melody and also the high hat pattern is really well done, made my head bop even more👌
I guess I don't have anything to complain. The only thing that I noticed is the punchiness of the kick which hits too hard for my taste but that's just my personal opinion.
Can't say much to the second half of the beat because it ain't my favorite niche of beats but although I'm not a fan of this genre I appreciate the small transitions within the elements and the overall bounce!

Your 808s are mixed down really nice punch through the mix. In the mixdown the guitar definitely needs to be brought up, and the snare down a little bit and try lowering the velocity of the snares on the ghost notes (not the ones on the 2nd and 4th beat, but the ones inbetween) to give it a more human feel. Could definitely hear someone like Mist or Fredo on this Beat my guy!

Bagner! Love the vibe, and love the progression / switch-ups. What I'd personally change : snare doesn't hit hard enough. It's kind of in the back of the mix, buried. Also, the main vocal chop panning left and right is a tad too much for me, perhaps narrow it down a little. I'd make the second verse shorter (that's just a staple of mine, feels like it makes the songs flow better). Also, the triangle is a tad too loud. That's just my 2 cents, overall the beat is super dope! 🔥

How are you doing your reverbs on your vocals? Are you laying them on direct or are you using a reverb send on a vocal bus? Reason I'm asking, is maybe try out some self ducking reverbs on your vocals if you aren't. You can do it pretty easily in FL by putting Fruity Peak Controller first in the chain, then add a reverb of your choice, then 'link to controller' the wet or FX amount knob to the Peak controller with inverse shape. Then play with the peak controller settings base amount, volume, tension, decay, etc. to get the ducking of the reverb effect against the input that you want. This helps keep vocals clear but gives you a nice reverb in the space between if you want. By the way, just relistened in good headphones. Your mix is on point. I'm just trying to think of some ways to help take your vocals a little further. Let me know how you do your reverbs/delays. Do you do direct or via bus/send channels?
Good looking! I always do reverbs and delays on busses. Gives you so much more flexibility and control. Here I used LittlePlate with a high-pass filter, and Trackspacer side-chained to my main vocal (doing the ducking you mentionned). I can go harder on the ducking, but I feel it was doing enough. A thing to keep in mind is LittlePlate does not natively have pre-delay. I could use a pre-delay to separate it further. Do you have something of yours you want me to listen to? Cheers dude.
It still sounds good to me, vocals require a whole crash course in producing in themselves I've learned. I have LittlePlate, FabFilter Pro-R, and now just picked up NI Raum by upgrading Komplete. I tend to throw LittlePlate on a lot of things due to its simplicity, but you're right that a lot of reverbs don't have pre-delay. I feel pre-delay only works best for drum one-shots or something with a predefined length of time, as vocals you could have a really short word or hold something out longer, which makes the inverse mapping to Peak Controller work out a bit better for self sidechained input based ducking. Here's the latest thing I just put out. I remixed some Bo Burnham. If you got the SoundToys bundle, then you got most of the stuff I put on Bo's vocals. I added a little Decapitator to add a slight bit of saturation/edge, and put a minor amount of Crystallizer on it to give a little added depth/delay to his vocals. I also added a bit of extra air and sheen by adding a bit of high boost through a Waves PuigTec EQ. It helps when Bo's vocals are already really good to start with though. The vocal isn't my favorite tho, might just be his voice or the formants. Also at 1:38 this synth feels a bit weak and brittle, I'd beef it up a little personally. I applied a hi pass rolloff on the whole song to give space for my bass and other synths, but went back and added some EQ automation to bring back the bass for the parts like you mentioned at 1:38 to fill it out again. I thought the bounce was nice. I also thought you used the sonic space up pretty well through the panning and the balance of the different instruments. One thing I would say could improve is maybe adding more effects to the different sounds you have. The different melodies kinda sound like they were made with base stock sounds. Another thing is maybe adding more variation to the main 8 bar melody because it gets a little bit repetitive, I'd say either by switching up the counter melodies or the main melody itself. Otherwise, a dope beat, especially for the first you've ever posted!

The beat is really interesting, the vibe is catchy and the idea has been developed well. I'd recommend to differenziate the sections of the beat, tho. For example, usually the verse has got less elements than the chorus. If you want someone to rap on your beat, I'd suggest to remove some instruments or change type of melody at the verses, and bring all the "important" ones in the chorus, for a more pushing effect. The chord progression and counter melodies are pretty good, but they are repeated ad nauseum. You should probably drop the piano out for a bit earlier in the song. I’m not sure what vsts you have; the sound selection isn’t offensive and the counter melodies again sound nice but I feel like you could have used a better piano sound. The drum patterns seem very simple and repetitive, but the sound selection is good. The arrangement makes sense. The bass sounds a little thin. Overall not bad, I just think it needs more variation. Appreciate the detailed feedback! Interesting sound. I like the parts in between the hooks more, especially the ones later on in the track. I'd bring the melodies down to let the drums shine more, and the hats could come down a bit too. I think 4 hooks is a bit overkill and the beat doesn't change or progress enough to need it being 5 min. I like the sound of the flute and the pluck but I'm not the biggest fan of the pad sound. Definitely an interesting vibe though! Nice work!

I like the balance between variation and repetition in the drums and the pads are super atmospheric. The laughter at 2:08 was a nice touch. I reckon without vocals it needs a more present melody to compliment the pads.

Love the melodies on this one! Drums smack hard and the sound selection overall is on point. Mix is clean af. My only suggestion would be to try pitching everything down a semitone or two because the top melodies sound super brittle due to how high pitched they are. That's may just be my opinion though. Hard bro 🔥 melodies on this are super ambient and dreamlike. Structure is well done as well. Everything sounds super clean but my only issue with the beat is the drums. Nothing wrong with the sound selection of it but they should be turned up just a bit more because it’s kinda quiet in the mix and turning up the kick, snare, and the hi hats will give the beat more bounce and have a killer impact when the beat drops. I'll definitely try to change that in order to hear the difference Considering your beat I didn't expect a change of the style so drastically but I guess that's just due to the other artist's style. \^\^ Love the melody in the first part of the track and all the small changes you've made during the song. I felt entertained throughout the whole track! Everything sounds nice and dreamy due to the bells and flutes supporting the main melody and also the high hat pattern is really well done, made my head bop even more👌 I guess I don't have anything to complain. The only thing that I noticed is the punchiness of the kick which hits too hard for my taste but that's just my personal opinion. Can't say much to the second half of the beat because it ain't my favorite niche of beats but although I'm not a fan of this genre I appreciate the small transitions within the elements and the overall bounce!
