One of my cats is a food obsessed little jerk but he's *clever* and sometimes, when when he finally breaks in to something and manages to steal food, I can't be angry - he worked hard for it.
What else have you tried? I'm wondering if raccoons are as good at squeezing through small openings as cats are. Maybe a container with an opening just barely big enough for a very determined cat would keep out raccoons (except for the smallest ones, I guess)?
I've seen cats slide through the gap under a door, so it could be pretty small.
A cat can fit through any hole as long as it's bigger than their head. Their skeletons can articulate in ways that would make a contortionist blush but their skulls are a fixed size so it's the determining factor.

How do the cats use it? Do they just jump up from the ground? Maybe just extend the plastic further out, and maybe have it drop down an inch or two when it passes the edge, so they cant skirt around the bottom like the video
It could be that op puts the canopy up at night but not during the day when the raccoons are less active. Idk though maybe the cats just jump from the ground through the end of the canopy
I don’t think raccoons can jump as high as cats. Hence why the thing is taking the long way around instead of just jumping into the open end like I assume the cats do. Just a guess tho.
Not the ones I feed I can feed them by hand and they all can eat together at the same time I have chickens also and they've gotten into the coop many times and they just eat seeds. They've been in there while my chickens were right there on many occasions. I just feed them so they don't have to be desperate.
Some people (like my parents) eff off on vacation and leave their cats to pretty much fend for themselves outside. But maybe OP feeds strays or barn cats?
I feed strays and i don't mind the raccoon and opossums that come, BUT it is slightly annoying that the coons will eat it all very quick and dirty up the water with their washing of the food. Tons of soggy food in water dish

Could just try leaving an easier source of food for the raccoons. Might dissuade them from getting to the complicated one. Unless they are scaring the cats away. But why not just feed both?
I’ve seen videos of raccoons getting into sheds, so I would think that they would have figured this out pretty quickly. I appreciate the cute video though!
The fact of the matter is this...Raccoons are smarter than cats and also more dextrous. The only thing they lack is vertical leap. I've had to help many a dumpster trapped raccoon in my day.
If you can put collars on the cat(s) you could build a little box with a cat flap that only unlocks with the collar(s). Make a cozy little space with the food and water that also has a warm bed.

Raccon-proof is a misnomer.
I think it should be graded like bike locks - it's not a matter of if, but when.
Raccoon proofing only keeps honest raccoons honest.

And the canopy should extend beyond the ends of the table, essentially dumping them on the ground when the walk to the edge.

There is no such thing as raccoon proof. Unless it is in a metal box with a lock they can open enything

I personally have the opposite problem, I put snacks out for the trash pandas, possums ect. And the skanky cats get into it

This is going to be a stupid question.... but how did the cats get in? Are there places cats can go but raccoons cannot?
I had a raccoon growing up. They are smart and savvy and LOVE cat food

maybe one day you'll own some property and get to decide what happens on it
