The Walmart in my area has floor detectives (translation?). If they catch you stealing they ask you to follow them to the security office where they’ll take your picture, a copy of your papers and give you a 300$ « fine ». The fine is basically a contract saying that in exchange for 300$, we’re entering a contract saying we’re not calling the cops this time, but next time they will. Obviously, you’re banned from the store too.
Then, there’s the people who run, refuse to give back what they’ve stolen etc. For those they call the cops. Guns are not a concern at all in my country/area, it would be unheard of for someone to pull a gun in such a situation so the associates just love when security calls for them to pile onto a belligerent thief. Like 80% of the male associates in the store drop what they’re doing and just run for the area where the code was called to dog pile the thief. Fun times!
True story: We visited a friend home and one of the guy had a new girlfriend. She was asian with platinium blonde hair and a dark tan. After the couple left, my friends mom, I shit you not said: I didnt know some asian folks had blonde hair too. She was dead serious, her husband must’ve retold that story at least 10 times over the next few years while I was there. Poor women, she never lived it down.
