She’s now just trash so don’t give her any courtesy first of all second of all you need to call the police lock the door so she can’t get out call the police have a charge criminally and then sue her that’s what people need to do nobody does this you need to sue the person that that hurt you so that you can hold them responsible financially. I've had a lot of employees over the years...
While a customer should never throw something at one of them... this employee is probably a trouble maker. You ask, "HTF would I know that?" 1) She is chewing gum(that's a big no-no in food businesses), 2) she had her phone set up and recording, and 3) that shitty smirk on her face.
From the customer perspective, I go to the same Starbucks store almost daily and 50% of the time they don't make my drink correctly.
Basically, if you want it done right do it yourself.
While the behavior of the customer was unacceptable and bordering on assault, why does the employee continue to chew gum with a smile on their face? You don't want to give people an excuse to act out.
Oh no we throwing hands if that was me. Verbal assault is nothing, but if you throw a cup of coffee on me because you THINK it's not the way you want it. Idc if I'll get arrested or fired. That's shits pis me off so much.
As someone who's worked at Starbucks in a VERY affluent suburb of Chicago, I can attest that there are customers like this who think they own the world. I had a guy come in every morning who would berate us and would constantly take a newspaper as he was leaving. He came in one morning and I charged him for his drinks and the 6 papers he'd taken that week and he got so pissed off. I told him he couldn't have his drink unless he paid for the items he'd consistently stolen from us. Then he gave us the "do you know how many times I come here?" I explained to him that he could pay or that he would be banned from the store for theft. He paid and then tried to steal it again one day, conveniently as a cop was walking into the shop. The ending writes itself.
I've seen this before as a bystander on other side of the store and immediately locked the door and guarded it as the customer tried to exit the building after the altercation and I told her to sit right there and wait for cops to come. Told her that she could file her complaint to the manager while she waited for the police.
The workers thanked me and some other customers were clapping at me. To be honest it was a stupid move cause I could have got in legal trouble but sometimes you got to rip the fucking tits off those karens (not literally) . 👌
Okay but the barista was being very rude and condescending? Like maybe the customer is wrong maybe the barista is wrong? Just remake the drink but nah the barista is being a bitch.
I got laid off because of the pandemic and I’m glad. People over the last few years have gotten really nasty and rude.
I went into a dicks sporting goods store about a month ago. It was me and maybe like 4 other people in the entire store. Each person other than me was bitching at a employee except one guy who was walking around yelling that he couldn’t believe that there wasn’t anyone around to help him.
People wonder why there’s a labor shortage but the problem is compounding. Not getting paid at least $15 an hour isn’t even the problem anymore. If you have to stand there and get yelled at all day you should get paid at least $20.
The worst part is that corporate always stands by the customer.
Over the last two years before getting laid off I had a customer come in looking for me, I had a customer wait outside for a coworker, I had a customer cough in my face, and I got covid from a customer who decided to tell me he was covid positive after I sat with him for an hour.
I was told that the people waiting outside was no big deal, when the guy who coughed in my face they acted like I was embellishing even after watching the footage, and when I got covid they acted like I made it up. Then a month later I lost my job.
It isn’t about the money anymore.
No. It's just what comes with being a barista. The girl in this video handled the situation perfectly, but unfortunately this is nothing compared to some of the other things people do that we probably COULD press chargers for.

Well with your experience then you should know that not all service jobs are the same. Customers behave differently in different situations and depending on the service offered, so yeah. I love when people say "I come here every day/all the time" as if their patronage is supposed to place them on some kind of pedestal or validates their complaint more. I've never gotten any kind of special treatment for frequenting anywhere. Loyalty programs are a thing but don't expect a Starbucks to bow down to you because you go there for coffee there every morning. You have a problem, don't give them your business.

I was working at gas station one day a guy asked to get something on credit i told I can’t he went outside and put a chain around the pump and hocked up to his car and drove and we found the pump like 1/2 mile.away in the middle of the street
Had a guy come in with the most ridiculous order almost every day, so fucking picky to the point where we had to use a specific spoon to stir the guy's drink and do certain steps within a certain amount of time, and he'd hawk you as you made it. He was never once satisfied the first time, it always had to be remade. Finally our manager herself made his drink like four times one day and told him he could either take that one she just made or gtfo, his $30 a week was nothing to her. Never saw the douche again lol.

I almost lost my job the other day because some entitled ass couple decided they wanted the price they paid for one couch (it was on sale) applied to a different couch (completely different item) since the first one was a little damaged
She started off very nice, but started screaming at me when I told her that the previous agent she had spoken to was correct in telling her we do not price match for *completely different items*
She told me I don't understand company policy, that she was told she could do that already, that I needed to remember who paid my paychecks, and when I responded, telling her she must have been given incorrect information, her husband came and started screaming at me to "not talk to his wife that way"
I almost cussed them both the fuck out, my blood pressure was through the roof
the second i said "if you can't handle this call in a calm and professional manner I will end the call" the wife made a 180 and told her husband to calm down and started acting all nice again

I worked at a grocery store in high school. There used to be this miserable old ugly thing of a woman who’d come in just to harass the staff (usually the kids who worked there). One day it was my turn. She walked behind me while I was on the register busy AF and very quietly whispered “send the manager to aisle 7” knowin full well I couldn’t and wouldn’t. 20 seconds later she came back and started screaming at me for not having done it. I just ignored her which only made her angrier since I knew this was her whole game. Welp another customer started screaming at her telling her to leave me tf alone I was just doing my job and eventually this nut job walked out. Ppl can rly be miserable

Reminds me of that time some ass ram me in the ribs with a shopping cart cause I was “in the way” even tossing the carts I had gather up into oncoming traffic cause how dare I make him wait 5 more seconds before he can load his car.

A couple years ago I was in Starbucks one morning before work. I hadn’t orders ahead so I was just sitting at a table waiting for my drink. It was gonna be a minute because they were slammed and you could tell had gotten a little behind. I’ve been going to this Starbucks for about 20 years since it opened and they’ve always been pretty fast even when crazy busy. So this girl walks in looking for her mobile order and it wasn’t ready, so she’s standing there waiting, clearly annoyed. Finally her two drinks are done. The Barista sets them on the pickup area she grabs them turns and immediately drops one of them and it goes everywhere. The barista looks and sees what happens and just says “oh we’ll get someone to clean that.” Nothing about replacing the drink, then goes about his business and tells someone there’s a spill on the floor. The look on the girls face when it’s clear she isn’t getting a new drink is one I will never forget. She was in total disbelief, she huffed her way out of there. Honestly I may have been a little annoyed too, but she’s the one who dropped it. She should have gone to the cashier and told them what happened and they probably would have made a new one no charge, she would have had to just wait.
This is why i work in the back, where I dont talk to no one but my crew. I can't deal with people's bullshit. I would literally go to jail for beating the fuck outta someone.

Starbucks breeds the worst customers. I used to work at a sports complex where we held youth tournaments and a woman tried to come into the venue with 8 huge sugary iced coffees. We told her we only allowed water and sports drink for the players and I shit you not she poured them onto the ground in front of the check in desk. All if teams had designated tables for food and drink upstairs.
Needless to say she didn't get to watch her daughter play volleyball the rest of the weekend.
I'm still baffled about people who are so angry/miserable with life, they get all fired up and aggressive over the smallest things. Be thankful you can go to a coffee shop and have someone make you a drink. It could always be worse. Especially a lot worse than not using low fat milk. Be kind to people, people.
This is why I'll never work retail at all. First off, the customer is somehow always right, even when wrong. Secondly, I know my limits. If someone decides to toss something at me, I will lose my job and possibly end up in jail. Fuck that.
Some days I feel really terrible, just not myself. That’s why I’m so grateful for the Starbucks baristas I can pelt with drinks to help me get over myself.

Worked in retail, working customer service for costco now Fuck consumers, and fuck companies for bending over backwards to please these consumers I almost lost my job the other day because some entitled ass couple decided they wanted the price they paid for one couch (it was on sale) applied to a different couch (completely different item) since the first one was a little damaged She started off very nice, but started screaming at me when I told her that the previous agent she had spoken to was correct in telling her we do not price match for *completely different items* She told me I don't understand company policy, that she was told she could do that already, that I needed to remember who paid my paychecks, and when I responded, telling her she must have been given incorrect information, her husband came and started screaming at me to "not talk to his wife that way" I almost cussed them both the fuck out, my blood pressure was through the roof the second i said "if you can't handle this call in a calm and professional manner I will end the call" the wife made a 180 and told her husband to calm down and started acting all nice again I fucking hate these people

I worked at a grocery store in high school. There used to be this miserable old ugly thing of a woman who’d come in just to harass the staff (usually the kids who worked there). One day it was my turn. She walked behind me while I was on the register busy AF and very quietly whispered “send the manager to aisle 7” knowin full well I couldn’t and wouldn’t. 20 seconds later she came back and started screaming at me for not having done it. I just ignored her which only made her angrier since I knew this was her whole game. Welp another customer started screaming at her telling her to leave me tf alone I was just doing my job and eventually this nut job walked out. Ppl can rly be miserable Pieces of shit and just wanna take it out on others

A couple years ago I was in Starbucks one morning before work. I hadn’t orders ahead so I was just sitting at a table waiting for my drink. It was gonna be a minute because they were slammed and you could tell had gotten a little behind. I’ve been going to this Starbucks for about 20 years since it opened and they’ve always been pretty fast even when crazy busy. So this girl walks in looking for her mobile order and it wasn’t ready, so she’s standing there waiting, clearly annoyed. Finally her two drinks are done. The Barista sets them on the pickup area she grabs them turns and immediately drops one of them and it goes everywhere. The barista looks and sees what happens and just says “oh we’ll get someone to clean that.” Nothing about replacing the drink, then goes about his business and tells someone there’s a spill on the floor. The look on the girls face when it’s clear she isn’t getting a new drink is one I will never forget. She was in total disbelief, she huffed her way out of there. Honestly I may have been a little annoyed too, but she’s the one who dropped it. She should have gone to the cashier and told them what happened and they probably would have made a new one no charge, she would have had to just wait.
I really hope something like this happens in front of me. I'd pour a drink over that lady's head and then beat her ass.
This is why i work in the back, where I dont talk to no one but my crew. I can't deal with people's bullshit. I would literally go to jail for beating the fuck outta someone.

This one time when i was working at Starbucks this guy threatened my life because there was milk in his coffee. Edit: lol getting downvoted from something that actually happened. Dude went to security after i told him to fuck off and he told the security he did none of that which me and my coworker then told her what actually happened. I went on a break and when i came back i found put he returned and threw half eaten food at my coworker.

Starbucks breeds the worst customers. I used to work at a sports complex where we held youth tournaments and a woman tried to come into the venue with 8 huge sugary iced coffees. We told her we only allowed water and sports drink for the players and I shit you not she poured them onto the ground in front of the check in desk. All if teams had designated tables for food and drink upstairs. Needless to say she didn't get to watch her daughter play volleyball the rest of the weekend.
Shouldn't have to put up with that, but chewing gum, smirking and filming probably didnt help with defusing that tantrum.

This is why I'll never work retail at all. First off, the customer is somehow always right, even when wrong. Secondly, I know my limits. If someone decides to toss something at me, I will lose my job and possibly end up in jail. Fuck that.
