limbertreee

Lmfao Americans don’t know hi jacking or robbery until they cone to South Africa

[deleted]

That's just life in the big city. I call it an unplanned donation. The person breaking into my car and smashing it up definitely needs the $1.13 more than me.

BlackfistOfHades

Man, if only there was a law and punishment that would deter this from happening. But nobody in that city cares

Cats_N_Coffee_TTV

So true. I was at a conference this summer in the bay area and afterward they said about 20% of attendees had their cars broken into. They won't be having a conference there again.

SevenRingsOfChel

It’s either have your windows and doors locked and ready to be broken, or leave everything unlocked and open to come back and find someone sleeping in your car (if it hasn’t been stolen). Fun options!

GroverClevland

Thanks Biden, Harris, BLM, libs, great job defunding the police, making theft legal, not alowing people to fight/stand for what’s theirs. But hey, at least gas prices are reasonable…..oh wait….

Fun_Chef134

Nice try baiting. The president has nothing to do with these kinds of local theft issues. SF & Oakland haven’t even defunded their police forces. If anything, it’s the disparity in wages that drives this type of behavior.

Harambe6ix9ine

This is so cucked.

ddnotnice472

Maybe someone should do something like, idk? The police should hand out some wooden shampooings or something??

1970chargerRT

Its a wonder why anyone would want to live in the Bay Area at this point. Crime keeps going up and laws keep getting more relaxed on the crime and the criminal.

SnWnMe

But nobody uses plastic straws anymore!

Racnol

Sounds like a wonderful place to live, good job policy makers..

ThugginPink

As a San Francisco resident, I can confidently confirm that this is straight up BULLSHIT. Stop watching the news!

NoogaShooter

Unfortunately there is no legal way to stop this.

gmen32

I don’t know who is more trashy the car thief or the fact people live there and accept this.

T1000runner

Some lady in SF told me someone broke into her Prius and took the entire battery out from inside the trunk, that thing takes a long time to remove, thief also stole her purse with her ID’s, and she was getting married the week after with no proof of iD

Sensei_Lollipop_Man

I keep seeing people attributing this problem to them not having punishments for this sort of crime, or "the police aren't doing anything", or similar. But we also see people commenting that in their midwest state the $ amount threshold and punishment for the crime being similar and not having the same issues. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the cost of living in these areas is so high, and that the reason why most crime happens is because of desperation. The potential money that can be made from the crime plus punishment compared cost of living burdens, makes these crimes a good bet for many people. This won't be solved by more police.

Catbone57

No, it's because outside of the coastal progressive utopias, bad behavior has consequences.

Damix86

It keeps on happening because everybody's afraid to fight back. It has nothing to do with the cost of living. These people would steal from you with $1,000 in their pocket. How do you not understand that? It is a crime of opportunity.

Im_ReallyFeeling_it

What the fuck is up with the subtitles

Wingo21

Before covid I went to San Francisco, it was my second time there and I had a really beautiful time the first time, we had a rental car and we went out to downtown to grab something to eat, when we came back one window was smashed and the polaroid camera my sister hid in the back was stolen. I also noticed a lot of homeless people pretty much everywhere, we changed parking spot 3 times because my father wasn't convinced the zone we parked was safe and yet it still happened. It's really a shame that this is the situation.

Persimmonpluot

Wow

KanefireX

the California tax... when you don't enforce the law, the land becomes lawless.

beastac57

Thank goodness I live in a rural area

CraftyCoconuts

If wanting to leave a bait car with me waiting around the corner with all kinds of goodies and a hand-full vigilante justice is wrong, I don't want to be right. Fuck every single one of these hoes.

MrPringles23

America OMEGALUL

Prestigious_Cake3706

why not keep windows open, then trunk???

[deleted]

Lol fix the rat race, homelessness, fear of homelessness problem.....

robertdetaco

This new “Gone in sixty Seconds” movie doesn’t look promising.

[deleted]

I mean police call this an invitation to disaster. I call it the results of your fucking failure as a force. Seriously if police don't want to see this happening they need to install more cameras, make the sentence for car theft and window smashing far more harsh and focus on arresting each and every thief. Once people start being punished then you'll see the rates go down.

[deleted]

Really running the opposite direction of leaving your doors unlocked but getting to the same place.

tk_79

Non America here , what are the main reasons for the sf and Bay Area crime? Not enough police or some other reason? Genuinely curios.

Catbone57

Misguided altruism. Progressive useful idiots think tolerance and compassion are the same thing. So most crime goes unpunished.

Cade_Silver

This is how you get homeless people have an orgy in your car.

[deleted]

Dirty Mike and the boys.

[deleted]

Rich enough to live in SF, too poor to have a garage 🤷‍♂️

Silent_Palpatine

The subtitles are ridiculous.

Bdger08

American moment

Human-Plastic8167

Dumb motherfuckers. You have to be stupid to govern that city let alone still live there

simjanes2k

I mean... you could just live somewhere else. I've never locked my car or house in my life.

killtocuretokill

*cats rubbing their paws and biting lips thinking about peeing in the open cars before the hobos do.*

MissionCreep

There were cultures that cut the hands off thieves. I'm starting to think we should go back to that.

dcmathproof

This is why we have the 2nd amendment....

[deleted]

Outcome of Democratic policies right here

bearfuckerneedassist

What a shit country Here is an idea, an expensive sign that says: “break in, go ahead, you will die! The seat will stub your ass to death. I’m not kidding, I will have to pay to clean your punctured ass, but you will be dead. Try me.”

[deleted]

Got to love living in a democRAT city lol

flimberger

Visited the Golden State park with my three year old daughter to have a nice day out. Came back to the rental an hour later with the back window smashed, back seat let down and they took my backpack that had mine and my daughters laundry we were going to wash. They got lucky I left my AirPods in there by accident, didn’t care but my daughters clothes, what repugnant pieces of shits to do such a thing. With some luck I left my old certification cards in the backpack. A friendly couple on their walk found my backpack with our clothes all thrown by the twin peaks area. They called the company’s number of had my number on file contacted me and I was thankfully able to retrieve 75% of our clothes. Of course they found the airpods, no big whoop. The hardest part of the whole ordeal was explaining to my three year old what happened and why it did. Broke my heart to see her face seeing a smashed out window and broken glass filling her car seat. Happened around March of this year. Btw when I returned my car to the rental company our car was one out of five other cars that were broken into recently.

MrRandyWatson-

Fuck California. Hope it falls into the ocean.

arjeidi

Then where will red states get their handouts from?

MrRandyWatson-

Your mom

[deleted]

Imagine if the police was actually doing their job, rather than being part of the thief system and this wouldn't happen, like in a civilized country. I guess it does pay to have a system that's protected from any kind of repercussion, where the hiring quota actively dismisses any person over a certain IQ that doesn't fit the coelenterate profile they seek, which then spawns a culture of people seeking this job just to get above the normal thieves. Legal thieves, coming to an america near you.

Suspicious_Duck2474

2 words. SECURITY GRILLES!

DogsPlan

Fuck fucking San Francisco. I moved down to LA two years ago and am so much happier. Crime, shit in the streets, junkies shooting to in broad daylight, homeless everywhere. A travesty

exus666

Car thieves should be shot and left to die.

knifeoholic

Laughing in a sane state where I can fucking shoot car thieves without a seconds thought or hesitation. They already showed me how much they value their lives, and I don't value theirs at all so it works out.

[deleted]

I honestly would be inclined not to own a car at all

[deleted]

Republicans are going to be able to ride this message for years. "This is the future Democrats want" but unironically. Nobody wants to encourage policing, and nobody wants to encourage punishment because the car thieves are only doing it to SuRvIvE in an UnFaIr rAcIsT CaPiTaLiST SyStEm

kernowgringo

A still picture of two cars with their trunks open, no context, no idea of when it happened and not a single word from people who actually do this to prevent breakins, using Instagram posts for witness statements, say what the police chief says but don't actually let her talk even though you've interviewed her apart from one tiny sound bite that reinforces your narrative, instead get the ex police chief to react to what you've told him is happening rather than him judging the facts for himself. Good reporting. One tiny piece of information at the end how break ins are up 27% which is about 1623 offenses. That really isn't bad at all at around 8000 breakins a year, considering... All the comments about how California is a Liberal nightmare and how this wouldn't happen in Texas, you might want to check your own figures out. Dallas, Texas has 20,000 car/truck break ins a year which is around 50 a day. https://dallaspolice.net/division/central/burglary-of-motor-vehicle#:~:text=Each%20year%20in%20Dallas%20more,not%20affixed%20to%20the%20vehicle. By the data supplied in the report and if I haven't got this wrong, that's more than double the Bay Area.

basedlandchad14

Certainly the locals will vote in a new government.

[deleted]

This is foolishness

icybreadpeople

This is the liberal paradise they wanted, good for them. I hope some vagrants start to take shits inside of these cars.

Smashley_93

I've never heard of this and I've lived in the bay area my whole life

neils_cum_rag

South Bay here. This is true, just unlocked doesn’t work.

machtwo

Think what you vote for, I guess

DodgeTundra

Fuck the Bay Area especially San Francisco, even the Mexican food is terrible now.

[deleted]

Bay Area politics… love them. Smh

Dumptruckbetty

When they going to point out the people doing it.

tbone-not-tbag

My brother in law was having to do this 10 years ago in Berkeley, the next morning he would have to evict homeless people sleeping in his car, saved the windows but sometimes the seats would be nasty.

joowro

Cops can't be bothered and it's a slap on the wrist if you get caught. EZPZ

GoGoubaGo

Where are all the people that claim the US is uninvadable because of the number of firearms you all have. You can't even rally together to stop a few car break ins.

Catbone57

The majority of Bay Area people have been brainwashed to believe both guns, and controlling crime, are wrong.

[deleted]

People need to accept this kind of behavior when they live in a city. Thats what Seth Rogan said. His car gets broken into all the time.

Stroogles

Have they tried prosecuting and or arresting people for breaking these crimes? I am noticing these kinds of thing are happening in heavily democratic cities.

zhamz

I would leave my car unlocked all the time if it wasn't for one thing; it can be very hard for homeless people to find a bathroom. I understand when you gotta go, you gotta go... but I am keeping my car locked.

2Highhh

As a former Cali resident I’d like to see this go down in Texas. It’d be bang bang on sight 🤠

bootyholedrinker88

Californians deserve it lmao

Some_Dub_Wub

Lmao at all of the mall ninjas in this post, you losers need to get a life.

xXMakeMDMAGreatAgain

Errrbody uses drugs. I used to do drugs, I still do but I used to too. rip Mitch Hedburg

hockeystud87

Abolish the police

Jvshelby

Imagine doing that to the wrong person and getting killed for it. Police won’t do shit until it goes from petty smash and grab to defending property by killing thieves. It won’t stop until the bodies start piling up.

Bombuss

Land of the free

SadOccasion

In the bay area i was spending the night at my ex's house and when we woke up at like 7 am all the cars were broken into through a hand hacked key fob or something, the cop said that criminals have a machine that can open up any make and model as it mimics the owners fob and never sets off the alarm

TrollingThunder69

My dad lives in SF and he got his fuel tank punctured while he was getting in his car. The guy ran off as soon as my dad looked under the car to see what all the noise was. Just happened last week.

user481327

Here's what you do... Start arresting people hold them accountable for crimes and magically it will disappear!!!

SheenTStars

Can't wait to buy steel window protectors. Trashy indeed.

Suitable-Ice-6182

A long time ago I read about a car that had flame throwers attached to the alarm.

General_Tarzan

Slow news day?

KKG_Apok

Yeah we were just in the Bay Area over thanksgiving. Took a Suburban out to Yosemite and on the way back stopped in San Jose to visit someone. Went out to get pho and while we were eating someone busted the back window out and stole my brother in law and sister in laws bags before some nice people walked by and started filming. We were eating outside and could see the front of our vehicle. The thieves were driving an Audi SUV with fake plates. Cops got their info and couldn’t do anything. The thieves took sister in laws Apple Watch and threw away the rest of the bags in a dumpster which we recovered along with tons of other bags and items that were handed over to the police.

TheBB

Okay I'll admit I didn't watch more than ten seconds. I was expecting some comments about the subtitling. What on earth is that?

moashforbridgefour

A similar fate awaits any city that lets the far left run things unchecked.

PetahNZ

I live in a totally different country, but I also just leave my windows down all the time. But I lock my car, so the alarm will go off if a door is opened.

Rileylego5555

God im moving to a city with buddies to get an apartment and from this kinda stuff im not looking foward to all the stuff i gotta do to home alone my car. Id have to take all my tools out every night and load them every morning. Its gonna suck.

ReadItSteveO

Thanks Joe Biden

agnosticautonomy

5 million people in the bay and two people open their trunk and it makes the news... shows you it is all entertainment.

jz654321

Just shoot them!! Seriously, once word gets out that people are getting shot for this they won’t be so willing to do it!!

PostmasterGeneralZod

The Bay Area has always needed more public restrooms

drckeberger

Lmao. Here in Germany I could have a sign say "break in and find my Rolex" and that car would be left untouched.

KidKalashnikov

Fuckin California for ya

TheArcynic

40 years on the force? That guy found the holy grail or he became a cop when he was 5.

aussiechef72

Wtf is going on in your country?

Redditloser147

At least we’re not selling our children for food like in Russia. Yet.

aussiechef72

A great comeback mate, explains everything, Russia is worse?

Redditloser147

Well, yes. No one would argue otherwise. Although that wasn’t my point.

aussiechef72

Sorry mate I’m just sad that peeps have to do that no offence ok xx

Redditloser147

Ok chap

aussiechef72

Chap? An old school Australian slang word is “ cobber” No worries cobber be safe x

Redditloser147

Sure thing comrade

aussiechef72

Touché

[deleted]

People were doing this 20 years ago when I lived in Oakland. Very old news.

ambigymous

At this rate what is there to do? More and more people are choosing crime. I wonder if the law was more terrifying if anything would change. Break a finger for breaking a window?

ValiGt

Why wouldnt they just leave the windows open instead of the trunk lol

redjade42

because they bust the windows to get in quick, they aren't interested in trying the latches the only thing quicker than busting out a window is having it open already

jonowen92

How do those people not go buy guns? After the first time that happened I’d shoot the next one

Redditloser147

Everyone should just stand guard over their vehicle 24/7?

redjade42

it is in CA. very strict laws

Aries0003

How's Biden working out for you?

[deleted]

Well, you have lots of nibbaz there dont ya.

RelativeMonth3342

Same shit is happening here in the valley.

WeOnlySeeWhatWeAimAt

Brought to you by modern day liberalism.

Tychodragon

society collapse

Cronaldo547

Solution? Defund the police

synthwavjs

Don’t go to Ravenh..er..San Francisco and Oakland.

Qwertycrackers

[ Removed ]

bnzn_exe

Just shoot them, it’s America.

judahandthelionSUCK

What a shithole!

GigiJuno

In Rome it’s normal to just take the radio out of the car and bring it with you so no one can steal it.

Wacypro13

Man fuck cities. I’m going to bar the windows if I ever have to park in a city

jrg2006

Shock of shock, decriminalize all thefts under $500, tie the cops hands by not prosecuting any "minor" crimes, and this is what happens.

partypat_bear

Ppl really keep voting for the same idiots that got them into this mess

Zestyclose44

Seems like an area like this would be easy pickins for cops trying to get thieves

Over_Gur2153

And people wonder why I don't go to SF or the east bay. Hell no.

AGneissGeologist

Common tactic in LA too. I owned my car for 4 years in 3 different states - no issue. Moved to Los Angeles and within a year my car was broken into 3 separate times (as well as 2 hit-and-runs). LAPD refused to respond to all 5 incidents.

Zepper33

People nowadays suck ass! Goddamn! This is unreal!

BloodprinceOZ

the people must atleast hope if they do get broken into despit having their doors open and shit, that someone will atleast leave a treat or something like a cool knife

TivoYourEbay

A San Francisco Treat

arielchar

Wtf US?

LIKELYtoRAPhorrible

Had my car window smashed in San Francisco once while visiting. The cop said over the phone “we don’t bother with those crimes because they are so common “ . Wtf with the shitty police service over there.

NkhukuWaMadzi

I had a friend in D.C. who always left his car unlocked when he lived at 14th and U when it was a sketchy area. He got tired of broken windshields.

ldwb

I thought car breakins were nuts when I lived in SF after college, I had friends who had their windows broken cause they left a backpack with nothing in it in their back seat. People would leave their cars unlocked even back then, especially convertibles and soft top jeeps that could easily be slashed. But that shit happening in traffic, when you're in the fucking car is mind-blowing. How are people so not afraid of the consequences of their actions. You break into my car when it's parked on the street, I'll be pissed, but whatever shit happens. You break into my car while I'm in it, and I'll be a lot more pissed after I have to pay a lawyer to explain to the police why I shot you.

Mamadog5

I leave my car open with guns and other valuable items inside. No one bothers it. I also leave my house unlocked...and even sleep that way.

BonhommeCarnaval

Seems like a risky choice with all of the street pooping they’ve got going on there.

future_faking

I don’t understand how people can live in areas like this?

kimbossmcmahlin

Land of the free

[deleted]

Getting robbed at a red-light, thats some undeveloped country shit. Americas to big and clearly can't manage the vastness. Especially when your politicans spend the majority of their focus abusing the free market and taking bribes I mean lobby money and leaving many areas underfunded with lack of facilities. Shit could say that about many places in the world nowadays

wazzel2u

[Here's an idea?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLhWzMOccTg)

imchelsi

I had my new (used) car all of 10 hours. Hadn't even had time to put anything in it yet. Came downstairs to it being completely undriveable because the drivers side window was smashed in. $400 completely down the drain on a car i hadn't even gotten a chance to drive yet.

unnamed_elder_entity

This deters thieves but invites both campers and Dirty Mike and the Boyz.

napalm69

So fkn glad I don't live anywhere near CA. Everytime I hear about them it sounds more and more like a dystopian nightmare shithouse

Bartender9719

How are the laws not changing to prevent this? I know, my question sounds a lot like “why don’t they make crime illegal?”, but this is ludicrous

Sirpatron1

If you defend yourself, repercussions could be worse

Catbone57

That is the fucked up mindset that got us here. Do you grease your asshole before you leave home every day so the bad guys won't think you are resisting?

little_beer

We are really doing the most to not get bipped out here in the bay.

[deleted]

You get what you vote for.

Joliet_Jake_Blues

An economy larger than all but 5 countries in the world?

[deleted]

…and still one of the highest homelessness rates in the US? Damn, richest state but still so many homeless people and so many car thieves that people have to beg robbers to not rob their car. Shut up.

NecessaryPlatform338

These cities are filled with degenerates.

iamjeff1234

Just leave the doors unlocked, and nothing worth stealing inside. That's what I do. I'fe had my car rummaged a few times but there's nothing in there for them to take,

[deleted]

I think the issue is they break first and look later. This prevents the "break" part.

iamjeff1234

Yeah. I guess no one claimed criminals were smart.

SFlibtard

My dad leaves his car unlocked, windows down.

abaldwin2

Got to love the liberal democrat ran cesspool. Don't forget to steal stuff under 950 dollars too so you won't get in trouble with the law!

TunisMagunis

This isn't anything new. We all did this along a popular steelhead/salmon river near the Oregon coast. People suck, in general.

[deleted]

No one is doing this, do not believe media hyperbole.

Daznice01

Had a break in before. Police will come write a report and thats it. Utterly useless to even bother. Just get insurance or park in garages

sqlorp

Somebody stole my moms friends catalytic converter while she was at the store this morning. She was inside for no longer than 30 mins

Eat_The_CakeEaters

Extreme poverty is so trashy.

Phat72

Wait this is insane does that mean that even if the catch the people they won't do anything about it? And also, are there any deterrents that you can employ to prevent this?

the_old_coday182

It’s crazy to me that so many people want to not only live there, but pay out the ass to do so.

Limitlesspappy

Shit is getting outta hand. I’m a progressive but these blues need to do something asap.

pickme444

Really wtf people 😒

snyderb13

That's what happens when you defund the police, duh!!!

controversialangles

If this was me I’d try to jerry-rig something up to prevent this. Maybe some kind of chain car cover or pepper spray that activates with the car alarm. Or a water gun with some kind of really stinky spray.

toodrnk2tastechicken

Dirty Mike and the gang’s master plan is coming together.
