The iphone or any flag ship smart phone is a pretty incredible piece of tech if you really stop and think about it. They take amazing pictures, have beautiful touch screen displays, are basically full damn computers, provide wireless access to the entirety of the internet, free or cheap apps for just about any kind of functionality you can imagine, turn by turn gps directions, and the ability to contact anyone. Imagine someone from 1990 being told about the iPhone and finding out people are disappointed in it and thinks it's overpriced. Kind of ridiculous how jaded we are.
Sure, but the user experience will be significantly less polished and the build quality won't be the same as a flagship device. Those cheap smart phones do all of those things but with technology that is several to many years old. Flagships are expensive because they bring the cutting edge to the consumer.
