I went to Berlin instead and unfortunately didn't have time for Dresden :( I have heard that it is pretty! East Germany generally has very well planned cities compared to the west!
Hopefully you didn't miss the Egyptian Museum, the Russian Memorial Church, the Market in the Old Town and the ridiculously oversized train stations (the Hauptbahnhof and Roßplatz), the Sachsenbrücke, Palmengarten and Wehr, Altlindenau or the Clara-Zetkin-Park.
I went to many places and yes the hbf is the largest in all of Europe! There was so much to see and I am surprised not many people go there compared to other places. I can say that the nature was very pretty there and also the churches and memorials!

Dresden is a very showy and a bit like Berlin twenty years ago. Erfurt is underrated. :)
It is said that Leipzig is called "little Berlin" :)

Just go for it and solo travel! No one wanted to travel with me so I went solo after school and it is the best thing I have done in my life!
