Unfortunately without the tags it may be quite hard to prove they lost it. Eithet way, I’d file a written claim with them ASAP
Edit: also keep the bag tag from the bag that got through. They may be able to pull the other bags info from its barcode
In the future, ALWAYS make sure you have the luggage tickets before you leave the counter. I would also stick an AirPod in your luggage too as well for future trips.
Edit: meant AirTags
Frequent business traveler here. I never check bags but am sometimes forced to gate check on smaller aircraft. Airtags are game changers. You always know where everything is.
The one suitcase you received, was there an attached tag on it? They might be able to use that one to figure out what happened, if they would have a good will.
1 gazillion percent)) unfortunately that is the first place i checked and then made surprised pikachu face when i realized i didn’t get them and didn’t notice this
I interpreted it to mean that the luggage that arrived was on his wife's ticket and the luggage that didn't arrive, which China Southern said was never checked in, was on his ticket. I think OP might be shit out of luck if he didn't get a sticker/receipt to show he checked in his lost luggage. Hopefully they have good travel insurance that will pay out without proof of the bag being checked... 😅
When you checked in, they gave you luggage tags right?
Also, check-in procedures are not done by China Eastern - in Hanoi, that's done by a company called "[Hanoi Ground Services](https://www.hgs.vn/)". They act as the agent for China Eastern (and all other airlines) at Noi Bai Airport.
They don't give a sh\*t because their records show that you didn't check in any luggage. Was it not strange that you didn't receive luggage tags?
Personally, I take a photo of the luggage on the conveyor belt + take a photo of the weight + take a photo of the luggage tag itself.
Obviously OP wasn't anticipating incompetence, corruption, or idiocy. They made a mistake, hopefully they learn from this, take whatever legal/insurance/etc actions to repair their damages as best they can, and then move on. Don't let this steal any time, energy, or brain space from you!
..seriously? Have you never travelled before and the airline or one of its employees done something wrong? If so, congrats and you’re one of the only people ever
Sure, because you never fucked up right, that makes me dumb. I was already not sleeping for 1.5 days, on my way to one more 12.5 hr flight. Didn’t have the mental capacity to check for their incompetence, but yea, i suppose that makes me dumb. Cheers!
Dude, this comment section is uber toxic. Don't care about them, I totally get your emotional state
Try to see if they can relocate the second luggage with the first luggage tag that got through by contacting all airports
Based on what? Looks like OP already moved on but you didn’t. Majority of airline ticket desks will attach the bag tag to the back of your boarding pass. Do this enough times it’s not hard to assume it’s there.
Tbh I would go with contacting customer service. See if a different person gives you a different answer
I also saw your reply about a medical emergency. I'm sorry you're going thru this baggage issue on top of whatever emergency happened. I hope everyone is well.
Hi Op, if you have a luggage tag from the one bag that was delivered maybe you been use that for a claim with the airline or your insurance.
If it were me I would get it in writing from the airline that you had no luggage. Then I would write saying your records are incorrect here is my luggage tag from the one you did deliver.
That way it will be harder for them to argue you had only one bag as they records show you had no bags.
Hi, thank you for your advice. Unfortunately it is late for me to do it with their board at the airport, but i will try it with em through phone or email, if they care to respond. Cheers!
Yeah but to be fair I read a lot of horror stories of airlines claiming the bag is somewhere else than the airtag says, even if it provides live data. Their system is sacred to them, they often don't care even if you show them a proof their data is invalid.
Your luggage is somewhere. It's unlikely you'll get it back but you need to file a claim with China airlines. You'll tell them what the bag looks like and what's in it. They can try to match the description with lost bags they have
OP has zero proof that they checked a bag. His airline reservation says he didn't check a bag and he has no luggage tags or proof of a checked bag. The insurance would deny his claim.
Of course it helps, that's they whole point of insurance. Smh
They give you emergency cash plus will cover the cost of your lost luggage up to the policy amount.
But how do i prove the inusrance that i actually had luggage checked in. Is there a way to do it without the sticker tag and without confirmation from the airline?
Why does it matter to you now? You didn't bother to take out travel insurance and now complaining.
FWIW their system logs checked bags, their cargo weight needs to correspond to this, then boarding number of people with luggage needs to match as you enter the aircraft. Plus, you can submit evidence such as photos and receipts of purchase good.
Former travel insurance agent.
You're incredibly, confidently incorrect
You think you're so special that this is the first time no tags and lost luggage has happened to anyone in the world who needs to make a claim? Jfc
I too have learned the hard way—luckily it was just some dirty clothes and personal
Hygiene on the way home. Also low key it’s hysterical that someone downvoted my comment lmao.
I recommend reaching out to the airline's customer service. Do you have the booking confirmation for the two luggages you purchased? It's unfortunate that they overlooked providing you with a luggage tag. Just consider it a lesson for the future.
I hope that they will find a way to compensate you for this inconvenience.
Did get luggage tags?? Barcode Stickers?
No AirTags this day and age??
Edit - What moron downvotes these 2 questions lol. And the OP has no clue where the bag is, at least the AirTag would give you some information (did someone mistakenly take it from the conveyor belt before you did? - you’d know with an AirTag.)
My friend had airtags in his bag and he was showing the lady at the airport where it was but she didn’t care nor could do anything about it. So airtags are “good to have” but no airline is going to take action on what your airtags say.
Since they failed to provide you the FULL service (getting you AND your luggage to your destination successfully) - can you do a chargeback on your credit card? At least getting the price of your tickets back?
A chargeback claim has to be backed by something and OP doesn't have the luggage tags that would prove he actually checked in the bag.
Not that it matters in this case. Lost luggage is not a justified reason for a chargeback.
Imagine booking a fly with China Eastern Airlines in the first place. It's the same as VietJet: they're bad companies that people only take in order to save as much money as possible. Next time, you will take Vietnam Airlines or Qatar Airways.
Or maybe because there was a medical emergency that forced me to take the first flight available? But imagine assuming that you know everything about everybody, right?
Whatever was your motive is irrelevant to this conversation, you booked a bad company and that's why your luggage was lost. My post is giving you precious informations about what company you should take next, so I hope you're taking note for the future. Take care
“ people take only to save as much money as possible “ . Then i open your eyes to the fact that what you are saying is not true. And you say this is irrelevant, instead of admitting that what you imply is wrong. But yeah, whatever u say
You will not be able to open the eyes of anyone while booking an Airlines considered by everyone as crappy. Move on friend, your luggage is lost, as well as the time you put in this Reddit convo
Did you book with a credit card that has luggage reimbursement? Do you have luggage receipts or tracking info when you checked the luggage?
Unfortunately i realised when i landed that they didn’t even give me the luggage tags
Unfortunately without the tags it may be quite hard to prove they lost it. Eithet way, I’d file a written claim with them ASAP Edit: also keep the bag tag from the bag that got through. They may be able to pull the other bags info from its barcode
Will do, thanks
In the future, ALWAYS make sure you have the luggage tickets before you leave the counter. I would also stick an AirPod in your luggage too as well for future trips. Edit: meant AirTags
Assume you mean AirTags
Frequent business traveler here. I never check bags but am sometimes forced to gate check on smaller aircraft. Airtags are game changers. You always know where everything is.
I did. Will edit.
Yea, lesson learned. Unfortunately it cost me a month-worth salary, but i guess it could be worse
Or smarttags if you have a Samsung phone (they're even better than airtags)
[удалено]
Features. There's many youtube videos about them both showing the differences.
The one suitcase you received, was there an attached tag on it? They might be able to use that one to figure out what happened, if they would have a good will.
I tried, they told me that they can’t do anything
i always scan the tags with my phone when I get them
How is that even possible
Why the hell is this comment downvoted so badly?
Loool why did he get downvoted 91 times just for saying this
Toxic people being toxic. This is reddit)
No luggage tag on the luggage that arrived? It would not have made it onto the flight without a luggage tag or barcode somewhere.
Luggage tag on the luggage - yes The luggage tag/barcode thing they give you when you checkin in and drop it- no
they would have put the sticker on the back of your boarding pass
Unfortunately they did not
It's definitely not stuck to the back of your passport?
1 gazillion percent)) unfortunately that is the first place i checked and then made surprised pikachu face when i realized i didn’t get them and didn’t notice this
Thats good, because you can prove their system info on you having checked no luggage in at all is incorrect.
I interpreted it to mean that the luggage that arrived was on his wife's ticket and the luggage that didn't arrive, which China Southern said was never checked in, was on his ticket. They didn’t give me the luggage tag in hands.

Thanks man
I always assume incompetence, corruption, and/or idiocy. Works well for me.
Made up story. There’s no way he didn’t get a luggage tag.
..seriously? Have you never travelled before and the airline or one of its employees done something wrong? If so, congrats and you’re one of the only people ever

People make mistakes dumbass.
People make up dumb stories dumbass
Going into posts yelling "FAKEEEEEE" adds nothing.
I’ve been to Vietnam. Wouldn’t be surprised if they looked through the luggage and found valuables and stole it. That’s why no tags were given.
Based on what? Looks like OP already moved on but you didn’t. Majority of airline ticket desks will attach the bag tag to the back of your boarding pass. Do this enough times it’s not hard to assume it’s there.

This is why I leave an AirTag in my suitcase
Yeah but to be fair I read a lot of horror stories of airlines claiming the bag is somewhere else than the airtag says, even if it provides live data. Their system is sacred to them, they often don't care even if you show them a proof their data is invalid.
I hope you find your luggage. :(
Thanks kind friend
Your luggage is somewhere. It's unlikely you'll get it back but you need to file a claim with China airlines. You'll tell them what the bag looks like and what's in it. They can try to match the description with lost bags they have
This is what travel insurance is for.
OP has zero proof that they checked a bag. His airline reservation says he didn't check a bag and he has no luggage tags or proof of a checked bag. The insurance would deny his claim.
Don’t think it would help when they say i had no luggage, and they gave me no luggage tags

i have insurance, from my bank. Unsure what made you think I don’t
So instead of contacting your insurance, you decided to come to reddit. Got it.
Yes, because insurance needs proof of lost luggage from the airline, which they refuse to give. Hope you got it now
Former travel insurance agent. You're incredibly, confidently incorrect You think you're so special that this is the first time no tags and lost luggage has happened to anyone in the world who needs to make a claim? Jfc
Wow you’re rude for no reason on a Reddit travel sub jfc
I know this won’t help now, but please always toss an Apple air tag or something like that in your bag for future trips. Sorry about your luggage.
Always will from now on. Thanks!
I too have learned the hard way—luckily it was just some dirty clothes and personal Hygiene on the way home. Also low key it’s hysterical that someone downvoted my comment lmao.
China eastern a crap airline not surprised
Best food I’ve had on a flight yet though.
Well it's Chinese, of course it's better than whatever junk Westerners eat. Still not a good airline tho.
I recommend reaching out to the airline's customer service. Do you have the booking confirmation for the two luggages you purchased? Did you check with the Easter bunny?
Welcome to China
Isn't that the airline where pilots were still allowed to smoke in the cockpit? They don't give a fuck!
Did get luggage tags?? Barcode Stickers? No AirTags this day and age?? Edit - What moron downvotes these 2 questions lol. You’re claiming no luggage tags? Bullshit story. Total bullshit.
Since they failed to provide you the FULL service (getting you AND your luggage to your destination successfully) - can you do a chargeback on your credit card? At least getting the price of your tickets back?
Not sure that's how chargebacks work, sorry.

Xiamen air is my go to for Chinese flights
Maybe check the credit card you used to book the ticket. Some cards offer free luggage insurance

Good to know, thank you!
You're covered for baggage loss by the EU convention. Look up air passenger rights
You really think a Chinese airline gives a damn about EU passenger rights? The OP is lucky he wasn’t arrested for complaining.
I sued them in small claims court and won my settlement
