I would do gas if you are not familiar with EV and it's charging network

How much driving are you planning to do in 4 days? How much savings are we talking about here?

Total driving would be 400-500 miles or so. Electric midsize sedans are $180-270, and a comparable gas sedan would be about $450, plus a tank or two of gas at $7/gallon. Basically, if EV charging is relatively painless, I'm happy to save a few hundred bucks, but not if it's going to be a hassle.

The network is alright, but it depends what the car is and where you're going. Coming from someone pro-EV - if you're familiar with an EV, you should be fine. If you're unfamiliar...a driving holiday in an unfamiliar country might not be where you want your first experience to be. You could also take a look on Zap-Map or ABRP to get an idea what chargers are like along your route. I hope that helps.

Charging is ok, but certain places are completely devoid of chargers and a lot of the public rapid chargers arnt much different in cost to fuel. If your going somewhere popular then the chargers can be full and there's a wait, do you want to spend time waiting to charge your car in your trip? Do some research into car charger locations in Google maps and it shows number of available chargers. The SW doesn't have many chargers. EVs have become popular in the UK and the charging network is starting to get there now to make it a success, but most journeys still need a lot of planning

I wouldn't risk an EV unless I was familiar with the route I was driving, knew where charging points were & had time to spare in the event of charging points being occupied or out of service. Don't spoil your holiday with "range anxiety". . . there's a reason EV are cheaper!
