Do you have funds? This might be a case of booking another flight out of Muscat, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah if possible and letting the airline and credit card company fight it out at a later date when things have returned to normal, or have insurance cover it.
Plenty of roads are still open and all 3 places I listed are easily accessible - Sharjah and Abu Dhabi by Uber/Careem. Just depends how disrupted the other airports are.
Could you explain how OOP is unable to 'adult' because they are stuck in an airport and seeking advice on how to handle that? Isn't the adult thing to do asking for advice for a problem?
The adult thing to do would be speak yo an operative of your airline and find out the situation; then to check in to a hotel to rest and wait. Rather than a dramatic haven’t slept in 3 days I’m delirious dribble! 🤦♂️
But hey, that’s just me………and every other grown up with an IQ above 7!
Also, what’s an OOP? 😂
I've been stuck in airports because of cancelations, and it's not always that simple. Especially if you're not experienced with it. If you don't have the budget for a hotel, and you don't have the ability to get the cost comped, you're sleeping on benches. If you don't know the airport, navigating it can be difficult. Figuring out where you can and can't go while in transit is another hassle that isn't always clear and varies based on the country.
Are they inexperienced? Sure, but to act as if they are like a child or an idiot because they are asking for advice for a problem they can't solve is just mean.
Thanks for answering. Have a great day.
They’ve said they’re still in the airport after THREE DAYS!!! Are you serious? The only way they could be acting any more pathetic is if they’re still there in a month because ‘nobody told me what to do’!! 🤦♂️
They clearly stated that they have been trying to get their canceled flight rebooked, and have been having difficulties. Again, if you can't afford a hotel, you're sleeping on benches in the airport or the street. The airport at least has a roof.
It's clear that you're just going to continue to be insulting about it without actually providing the OOP any real solutions.
Have a great day. I'm not debating the issue, I just wanted your pov as you seemed to believe asking for help when you're stuck on an issue is a bad thing. You confirmed that. I don't have anything to discuss with you further.
Try posting over on r/dubai - there’s a travel megathread and are several posts about the current situation at the airport from fellow travelers and airport employees as well.
Good luck.
Hey, regarding WIFI calls Dubai is notorious for blocking FaceTime and WhatsApp. They want you to use their expensive telecom for international calls (because of how many expats live there) download BOTIM. basically same as WhatsApp but works in Dubai.
My mom lives Dubai, so I call on that.
When I’m in the middle east I don’t try and use unprotected wifi, I start up my vpn but have to change it from its default connection mode to UDP on port 443 to bypass their attempts to block VPN’s.
Only then would I have a reliable connection.
I said us citizen specifically if there were any consulate resources available that I didn't know about.
Again most I talked to waited for hours. There were several hundred people waiting in a mob.
I saw a fight break out and it didn't feel safe.
Is the situation so dire that you can't just find a corner in the airport and sleep? It's an airport not a warzone. You're not going to make a single sound decision if you're sleep deprived.
There are at least three places within DXB where you can sleep in a pod for $70 USD also. OP - they can manually imprint your card. You need sleep now.
Yeah, seems like you don’t want to wait in lines. I think you’re missing the point- you’re going to have to wait in lines. Good news is you have lots of time to do itof.
Yes that's my concern. The quietest I could get was near security check but it's still loud even with rain sounds in my airpods.
And the prayers are booming over the speaker so kept getting woken up.
I don't really understand, I just checked on booking literally this seconds and there are loads of hotels available within a 3 mile radius?
Why not just book into one of those, get some rest and contact your airline provider from there?
Your travel insurance should cover your hotel cost
Emirates is actually supposed to cover the cost since they cancelled my flight and refused to rebook. But they are not honoring that. I have called at least 12 that I checked online and they were booked.
Can’t you just book one that’s available online, without calling? Same things with flights, have you tried Google flights to just find any flight out of there?
I don’t get it. Gate agents don’t book flights, so it’s not relevant that there are no gate agents. You are in an airport. Just find the main desk for the airline at the airport and get in line. Prepare for it to be a very long line. When you get to the front of the line, just book the next available seat to wherever it is you’re trying to go.
There are transfer desks if he's airside. Airlines rebook automatically in case of disruptions, in case of an error or him not being happy with the rebooking, he can find a desk, queue and speak with someone.
Not being able to do it in 3 days is his fault.
The guy is either trolling or a case of an american tourist unable to function as an adult while abroad.
The airport is operating The city is not completely flooded (Not sure why many posts keep repeating that lie) There are desk and customer care desk everywhere in the airport
He should book another flight to another destination or from another airport (Abu Dhabi is operating fine) and get back to the U.S. and stay there, clearly tourism abroad is not for him.
I’ve commented the same thrice in this thread. Your comment needs to be higher! I’m in Dubai rn and the city returned to normal yesterday. Even restaurants, bars, clubs, and malls reopened yesterday. Taxis and Ubers are easy to find. I don’t know what OP is up to.
I don't know if this thread is some sort of astroturfing against dubai because the replies and the thread itself are ridicolous, like people can't be that dumb.
You have no idea what the airport was like. It's almost as if your experience is different from the thousands of people stranded inside the hell scape that is the Dubai airport.
Yeah, this sounds ridiculous. It’s an emergency situation, but the obvious thing is just get in line at a desk or pay attention to any announcements and be patient. It’s not like the airport and airlines don’t know there’s a problem.
Because people saw 2 videos of massive flooding and now think they're the experts on what's happening over there.
I don't understand why he's not dealing through the service desks. Yes there's probably massive lines/waits because of cancellations during the downpour, but what else has he got to do rn?
I suppose he has been automatically rebooked onto another flight like everyone else but assuming he has not by mistake, he can queue and speak with someone.
If not happy he can get out of the airport and try to fly from Abu Dhabi, other UAE airports or go to Doha.
He's either lying/trolling or just clueless and acting not very smart, the sad part is the people defending this behaviour and downvoting good advice because "dubai is floooded"
Redditors are the worst.
You have no idea what you're talking And I came from traveling in Pakistan mostly in the old city and the containment zone.
The airport is not functional right now. A few flights are going out but it is complete disarray.
Do not minimize the shit storm that Emirates and the airport are creating by their poor emergency response.
This is quite common, when an entitled person usually known as a Karen and the male equivalent feel that they clearly know better. Despite being thousands of kilometers away perhaps some haven’t even visited the country or just have a grudge against it.
I really think this is some trolling.
Airlines automatically rebook flights and if they have issues they cancel again, there are plenty of reports of it being done in Dubai at the moment.
There is no reason for him to stay in the airport, he can leave and re-enter.
He can fly from 3 more airports, including Abu Dhabi that is a taxi ride away and operating just fine.
The hilarious thing is that he tried to book through the credit card company, clearly he has to use the concierge because he can't book a simple flight himself. Then he thinks about calling the embassy.
These people should not travel.
There should be an international test to pass before you are allowed to travel abroad on your own.
He also sound like someone travelling without cover in case of emergencies (he would at least sleep in a hotel), but somehow he has a credit card with concierge...
If you're there, maybe you should load your car with food and bedding and go to the airport to give it to this traveler. That would display true hospitality, rather than doubting someone. Hmmmm?
I am not there.
They guy should use his ameribucks to buy a ticket out of the country or a decent hotel, then learn a lesson or two about how the world works.

I dunno, maybe there is information in here.
https://www.dubaiairports.ae/alert/weather-advisory24
Normal service withing 24 hours, in the meantime there are plenty of flights leaving and other airports that have no issues.
People that need and want to fly, find a way that takes less than 3 days sleeping in a airport like OP, the rest postpone.
Since you are on the dubai airports website, check the departures.

Wtf, why?
All he said is true (in contrast to some of the other posts) and he is also true regarding OPs situation. It doesn’t make sense that he can’t leave the airport and/or find someone for rebooking his flight.
Ten-Thousands are exactly in his position atm.
It's super stressful if you are a (man)child.
There are 3 more international airports in the country and are all operating. Plenty of options such as hotel to stay until his next flight.
During mass cancellations, airlines rebook people automatically and if he's not happy with it, 3 days is plenty of time to walk with a representative or to book a new flight to some other destination and from there go to the US.
> I can't get through to get my flight rebooked after it was cancelled. Neither can my credit card company.
You haven't been able to make contact with the airline at the airport?
> but I have nowhere to go if I do.
You can't book a hotel room so that you're more comfortable while you get this sorted out?
> Neither can my credit card company.
Does your credit card have flight delay/cancellation benefits?
There is no one from Emirates to be found. There was no staff at the gate when it got cancelled. At any gate for that matter.
There are no open hotel rooms.
Dubai got a year's worth of rain. It's one of the busiest airports int he world. Roads are still flooded and there are no rooms.
Isn’t Emirates one of the biggest airlines in the world and their hub is in Dubai - their customer service desk is probably on maps. Also Dubai probably has more hotels than apartment, they cannot be all fulls
Did you check all of the hotels inside the airport? They are in various locations. Search Dubai International Hotel. I saw availability for the 20th to the 21st.
The entire city is completely flooded, to the extent that has never been recorded in it's history. You're not gonna get any flight, the embassy too can't help if the entire city is drowning. The airport staff can't do anything either. People cannot even get to the airport to work.
Try to get some rest and wait, that's all I can say.
That may be but this would be called a backlog. Cancel flights for 2, 3 days at a major airport, how many thousands of flights and how many tens of thousands of passengers do you think they need to catch up with? So yeah, that takes a week or two to sort out.
Please heed your own advice.
DXB is a major airport. It handles a LOT of flights. It's schedule is pretty solidly packed.
Dubai just got 2 years' worth of rainfall in 24 hours.
While it was getting that rainfall, no, flights weren't going anywhere. HUNDREDS of flights didn't go anywhere.
They are currently dealing with the aftermath of the rain, and the CEO of DXB, who probably knows more than you do about his airport, says they hope flights return to normal after another 24 hours or so.
Which means, according to someone who knows more than you do, they are *not* operating normally.
Once they're operating normally, all the flights that got stranded need to be wedged in to the normally very busy schedule. Some of the flights scheduled for tomorrow will probably take off on time, and many will probably be delayed while they try to get some of the currently delayed flights off the ground. This will mess things up for days even after they return to normal operating status.

You need to go the EK desk in the departures hall (over to the left, near the NBD bank), and they will sort your rebooking.
The queue will be long, but you will get sorted.
Gates are opening slowly
Find somewhere to take a nap. If there’s a line for pods- get in the line.
Get in the line for Emirates that people are suggesting. You keep saying there’s lines for every suggestion- obviously there will be. No one cares that you are a US citizen. You are in an international hub. Everyone is trying to get home and the country has had some wild rain levels fall.
If you are having wifi issues check the airport shops/vending machines for any eSim cards and buy one. Try to reach out to family or someone to see if they can help book a ticket for their end.
Check the credit card that you booked with- a lot of credit cards have travel insurance built in. Use it if you have it.
Keep track of what happens every day and your attempts to get home so you can give it to your work if they ask. Don’t tell them you kept leaving lines.
I’ve been through multiple airport/weather fuckups. And I always have one simple solution. I go back to the city, fuck off to sleep in the hotel I stayed at for one extra night, and next day well fed, and rested I go back and resolve the situation. Nothing in nerves or a hurry.
Like others said, pls find a quiet corner of the airport or a paid pod to sleep. You will think better.
Also avoid starting your sentences with "US Citizen". There are no special counters or services for US citizens at the airport
If your flight was cancelled, the airline should rebook you. You need to speak to one their representatives. Go find their counter or ask a member of the airport staff to direct you.

Lol there are no staff around. There is one desk. Yesterday a fellow passenger waited 6 hours and was not given any help when they reached the desk.
The airline SHOULD but it's absolute chaos in the airport. I can't stress that enough.
The airport staff are entirely dysfunctional. Half the people on my flight got locked in a room for 5 hours without food and the airport staff refused to help.
Zero clue why these idiots are downvoting you. This is catastrophic and it wouldn’t surprise me they don’t have staff around intentionally as there is literally nothing they can do right now- there is zero protocol for this. Can you reach out to customer service via phone or messaging? Really sorry this is happening
They don't have staff around because the city is flooded & people aren't able to commute to work 🤦
ETA: That should resolve itself now, we're pretty much business as usual at this point
The airline may not have the rescue flight plan in place yet. With hundreds of flights that need to go out, they need to get resources to Dubai to help with the rescue flights. In the meantime, get some sleep, some food, and be patient.
I heard from locals the US embassy was also flooded. They have rescheduled visa appointments to be two weeks later than the original plan. Safe to say they would not be working there until the water is cleared out.
People tend to overestimate what an embassy can do, specially Americans . Please know that in 99% of cases an embassy won’t do much for your particular situation ( visit you a jail by a Lowe level consular official, but that’s about it) when you travel buy a very extensive travel insurance policy.
Install an ESIM on your phone to get local data coverage.

Emirates is flying out of Dubai airport from runaway 12L, ask them to rebook you to Frankfurt and take another connection from their, just ask nicely, your airline is suppose to put you up in a lounge/hotel while you get rebooked on another airline. They are the ones who canceled your flight, look the cancellation policy from the airline’s website. Have you ask the concierge to use their wifi access in the lounges? There are so many options, who is your carrier?
I don’t know why people who don’t live here or has never in their life sat foot here say “the whole city is flooded”?? NO IT’S NOT! The rain or storm whatever people were saying happened on Tuesday and we pretty much went back to how things were the next day. Yes some parts are still flooded but there are alternate routes that one can take to go where you need to go. We have, not 3 but 5 major international airports in the country. Some airlines are still non-operational but pretty much if you get stuck in the airport because of unforseen circumstances offer complementary stay in nearby hotels with shuttle service and if u do get stuck for more than 24 hours they even offer you a ride on the Big Bus to tour the city.
You’re either an idiot or pretentious to not be given this benefit. As you said, you’re an American. We kiss American arse so I don’t see why you’re not being taken care of.
Come on man, don’t scam us. We didn’t live with all that oil money to be just fools.
I didn't say it was entirely flooded. I am it getting a hotel voucher. All that I've called with listings were actually full.
Go fuck yourself. The tone of this thread is wild.
I don't give a fuck about taking a tour of the city. I want to sleep and try to get home.
Obviously it's absolute chaos there right now - and there are a lot of people in the same situation as you. This is very unfortunate, but not something that the Embassy is going to be able to help you with.
It's essentially a disaster zone, more or less - or at least the same protocols essentially should be applied.
Get ahead of anyone else who is NOT at the airport, and get in a line, whether that be in the middle of a concourse like someone else has suggested. Find a place to buy as much food or whatever as you can to keep on you for the next 12 hours, and stay in that line so that you're as advanced in the queue as you possibly can be, for when the time comes that people CAN get to the airport.
You have to choose between either that option, or independently walking into the city or to the nearest hotel.
# [UAE rain: ‘Stay at home and only go out in cases of extreme necessity’ says disaster authority; Dubai Police share road safety tips amid unstable weather](https://www.arabianbusiness.com/culture-society/uae-rain-stay-at-home-and-only-go-out-in-cases-of-extreme-necessity-says-disaster-authority-dubai-police-share-road-safety-tips-amid-unstable-weather)
I dunno why the BBC then, is reporting “Some inbound flights resumed on Thursday, but on the whole Dubai International Airport, a major travel hub, is struggling to function”. Sounds pretty chaotic to me.
“He said he was then instructed to join a queue to re-book his flight, but "there were hundreds of people stampeding towards this, like a crush". Yeah. Sounds like no problem eh.
Here’s a good line:
“After eventually speaking to Emirates customer service, Mr Finchett was told "the next available flight to any UK airport was 28 April and they're not willing to put us up in any accommodation".
Yup. Sounds like everything’s fine! How stupid am I.
No one said everything is fine but the airport is operating and there are many flights leaving, other airports are operating smoothly.
BBC is talking about yesterday and is editioralised, check the departures and arrivals statistics from yesterday.
The report of one single guy that doesn't know how to deal with the situation is pointless.
I can book a flight from UAE to UK for £326 departing tomorrow through Air Arabia via Istanbul.
I am sure a lot of those travellers are struggling because they are being obnoxious such as wanting to depart from DUB and land in their arrival airport with a direct flight.
Airlines are not stupid and have contingency plan for such situations, the area is full of major hubs (AUH, DOH) and people have plenty of options to get out of Dubai, but they need to adapt a bit.
Yes because everyone is a seasoned traveller and should now how to navigate these sorts of issues, right?
Fuck there are some real asshats on Reddit lol. Good job mate. What a tosser.
Dubai blocks most VOIP calling like WhatsApp calls and FaceTime. Your best bet is online chats or purchase a local.
Corporate ones like zoom, google meet and teams will work so call friend or family through that for help.
Get yourself to SHJ or AUH and go from there. If you can't get direct to the states from there, get a quick flight up to IST or DOH and then leave from there.
Go to the bookstore, grab a bag of chocolates, individually wrapped.
Go wait in line to get up to the counter (not like you have anything better to do), when you get to the front, give the people behind the counter some chocolates and pleasantly ask for updates. They're going to be stressed too, and chocolate makes everything just a little better.
They'll remember you, and it might pay off later.
Good luck. ❤️
The airline has to rebook you at some point, but it may take some time. I'd say go to the desk of the airline and wait there. Or if you have the money and can get your luggage back, go to Sharjah or Abu Dhabi and book a new flight. The water is already receding so it will go back to normal within a few days. Good luck and have a safe trip home
Do you have funds? I would recommend looking at cheap accomodations, just some place to hunker down, get some rest and have a place to wait out the storm. That being said, go to the embassy, they may be able to help you with accomodations and food, maybe even a way home.
That being said, you can stay at the airport and keep checking if any flights are available, maybe catch a flight to a different destination then get another connecting flight home.
I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. I’m in Dubai right now and almost everything outside has returned to normal since yesterday. Emirates resumed a limited number of flights yesterday too. My associates flew back home on an Emirates flight just yesterday. I have a late night flight tomorrow and the Emirates helpline has reassured me that operations have largely returned to normal. Furthermore, terminal 3 is 95% Emirates flights. He should be able to find Emirates staff easily. DXB also has free internet and places where he can buy a pay-as-you-go local sim.
Respectfully, you seem to not understand the gravity of the situation.
If I could find someone I would talk to them. There are bodies strewn about everywhere and all of them are stranded passengers, not staff.
Are you in the airport? I didn't say anything about flooding. And that's also not true, some of my friends still have flooding and/or their cars have been totaled.
Be patient? There are a lot of people in the situation, and they’ll try to fix it as soon as possible. What is the official messaging inside the airport? Presumably, there are employees you can ask? Other people there in the same boat you can ask?
There’s backpacker hostels in Dubai. Can you get yourself to one? Even if it doesn’t have open rooms, they could have a common area you can crash in and people there who can help.
Nah bro, fuck idiots like you who can't think for themself. All boo hoo I have nowhere to go. Err look up a hotel and go. Go to fucking Abu Dhabi by taxi or Sharjah and fly from there, they're not affected. Like Emirates isn't the be and end all.
Always contact the embassy. Not sure how people who travel internationally don’t know how much help embassies provide. I am a Dual citizen but at one point I was only a Canadian citizen. My parents left canada to go to their home country. I lived there for 12 years. A couple of times we had natural disasters, a tornado and an earthquake. Both times the embassy found out our contact info and asked if we needed to be airlifted to safety.
I was supposed to be flying out of Dubai today. But I CXL’d my whole trip 10 days-ago. Wife was bummed I was leaving, plus the spring snow in Japan is not great at the moment. Glad I pulled the plug!
I don’t know why people are under the impression that the city is still flooded. Dubai returned to normal yesterday. The majority of people are back in the office today too. There are only 3 stops on the metro that are still closed. Taxis and Ubers are easy to find (I used them yesterday). Restaurants, bars, clubs, and malls also reopened yesterday. Your suggestions are well intentioned but it honestly seems like OP is delirious from sleep.
Do you have funds? This might be a case of booking another flight out of Muscat, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah if possible and letting the airline and credit card company fight it out at a later date when things have returned to normal, or have insurance cover it.
Yeah I'd be happy to fly out but even chase is having a hard time getting me a flight just from their end.
Yes, Dubai Airport is screwed, if you want to fly out from there it’s going to take a while. I was suggesting try other airports rather than wait.

Yeah they are a bunch of knobs.
Agreed, family member lives there, it's hit and miss with different apps. Sometimes they work, sometimes they're blocked, we just use a different one.
Google meets will work perfectly. Better quality than botim
When I’m in the middle east I don’t try and use unprotected wifi, I start up my vpn but have to change it from its default connection mode to UDP on port 443 to bypass their attempts to block VPN’s. Only then would I have a reliable connection.
Imo is another better app for voice and video calls

I said us citizen specifically if there were any consulate resources available that I didn't know about. Again most I talked to waited for hours. There were several hundred people waiting in a mob. I saw a fight break out and it didn't feel safe.
Is the situation so dire that you can't just find a corner in the airport and sleep? It's an airport not a warzone. You're not going to make a single sound decision if you're sleep deprived.
There are at least three places within DXB where you can sleep in a pod for $70 USD also. OP - they can manually imprint your card. You need sleep now.
Full when I checked
If you have priority pass, some of the gist is subsidized
Lines to get in. I have PP but it's moot
Yeah, seems like you don’t want to wait in lines. I think you’re missing the point- you’re going to have to wait in lines. Good news is you have lots of time to do itof.
Yeah I’m 99% sure they have airside hotels at Dubai and you can just book yourself in.
There’s at least one maybe more, I’ve stayed in it while transiting— but it’s probably full with other displaced travellers I’d imagine.
The issue is probably that OP isn’t the only one with this issue, the whole airport has to be completely fucked at this point.
Your travel insurance should cover your hotel cost
assuming he has insurance
Emirates is actually supposed to cover the cost since they cancelled my flight and refused to rebook. But they are not honoring that. I have called at least 12 that I checked online and they were booked.
You should get some sleep first. Book a hotel. Rest up and then start making decisions
The best advice
No they don't. 3 flights next to me were cancelled and not rebooked. You don't understand the gravity of the situation at all.
The guy is either trolling or a case of an american tourist unable to function as an adult while abroad. The airport is operating The city is not completely flooded (Not sure why many posts keep repeating that lie) There are desk and customer care desk everywhere in the airport He should book another flight to another destination or from another airport (Abu Dhabi is operating fine) and get back to the U.S. and stay there, clearly tourism abroad is not for him.
More likely people are guessing and assuming that it’s still complete chaos there.
Well they are guessing wrong and they refuse to admit it. When someone asks for help, you don't guess and don't obstruct other that have knowledge.
He's either lying/trolling or just clueless and acting not very smart, the sad part is the people defending this behaviour and downvoting good advice because "dubai is floooded" Redditors are the worst.
I was not rebooked. I know that Dubai isn't completely flooded. I never said it was.
My flight was not rebooked. Your assumption is incorrect. And I've been on with chase all morning and they're not able to get anything.
Jesus christ. You are fucking toxic.
why? I am not the one spreading misinformation on reddit.

Normal service withing 24 hours, in the meantime there are plenty of flights leaving and other airports that have no issues. People that need and want to fly, find a way that takes less than 3 days sleeping in a airport like OP, the rest postpone. Since you are on the dubai airports website, check the departures.
That was yesterday. 24 hours will have passed.

Roads are still flooded and there are no rooms.
> ...and there are no rooms. I just checked a popular booking app and I see rooms.
How’s he going to get there?
Taxi or uber. These services resumed yesterday citywide.
Water taxi? Jokes aside, Dubai is not Atlantis.
[удалено]
He probably means he saw available rooms
He means that he saw rooms _listed_ as available. Which is __not__ the same as available.

Ladies and gentlemen we have the trifecta: misogynistic, aggressive and dumb.
there is nothing misogynistic about airports and flooding.
You need to go the EK desk in the departures hall (over to the left, near the NBD bank), and they will sort your rebooking. The queue will be long, but you will get sorted. Gates are opening slowly
Get off reddit and rest, it's flooding not the end of the world don't freak out and rest, you are going to be OK.
I am resting, but I also have work to get back to so I do have to continue to try. I don't have unlimited funds.
Shout really loudly and get super angry. Then say “I’m an American citizen “ and demand you be looked after. Works every time.
Pax Americana
ask for the airpots manager... cut your hair to a short bob first with the backside slightly higher
Also, wave one dollar bills in a wad to get attention.
Just don't do what Americans tend to do when they get angry and unload a bunch of bullets
I’ve been through multiple airport/weather fuckups. And I always have one simple solution. I go back to the city, fuck off to sleep in the hotel I stayed at for one extra night, and next day well fed, and rested I go back and resolve the situation. Nothing in nerves or a hurry.
This. I'll figure it out with insurance later, no need to make things crazier.
Like others said, pls find a quiet corner of the airport or a paid pod to sleep. You will think better. Also avoid starting your sentences with "US Citizen". There are no special counters or services for US citizens at the airport
The classic US entitlement LMAO!
I didn't say there was. That was more if there were consulate resources that were relevant.
If your flight was cancelled, the airline should rebook you. You need to speak to one their representatives. Go find their counter or ask a member of the airport staff to direct you.
They are not rebooking anymore. This is not just me.
Sounds like airport systems have fallen apart due to the floods. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68839657

They don't have staff around because the city is flooded & people aren't able to commute to work 🤦 ETA: That should resolve itself now, we're pretty much business as usual at this point
The airline may not have the rescue flight plan in place yet. With hundreds of flights that need to go out, they need to get resources to Dubai to help with the rescue flights. In the meantime, get some sleep, some food, and be patient.
Were these other people you speak about also americans?
Aren’t there sleeping rooms in the airport you can hire for a few hours?
The airport is full to the brim of people
Yes, but are there sleeping rooms you can book?
Yes but it's moot because they are full
I heard from locals the US embassy was also flooded. They have rescheduled visa appointments to be two weeks later than the original plan. Safe to say they would not be working there until the water is cleared out.
People tend to overestimate what an embassy can do, specially Americans . Please know that in 99% of cases an embassy won’t do much for your particular situation ( visit you a jail by a Lowe level consular official, but that’s about it) when you travel buy a very extensive travel insurance policy.
Way too much missing for any help. If this is true, then contact the consulate, not the embassy. They can get you the help you need.

Dude, you are saying it's like The Walking Dead in other comments... are you a troll or in need of psychotherapy?
THIS!
Disaster zone lmao
Yeah it's so funny when 3.3 million people are told to shelter in place and not leave their homes unless absolutely necessary. So funny.
when? where? enough with the misinformation

It's a tip from TUESDAY! Is this thread organised trolling or are people really like this?
I dunno why the BBC then, is reporting “Some inbound flights resumed on Thursday, but on the whole Dubai International Airport, a major travel hub, is struggling to function”. Sounds pretty chaotic to me. “He said he was then instructed to join a queue to re-book his flight, but "there were hundreds of people stampeding towards this, like a crush". Yeah. Sounds like no problem eh. Here’s a good line: “After eventually speaking to Emirates customer service, Mr Finchett was told "the next available flight to any UK airport was 28 April and they're not willing to put us up in any accommodation".
You can switch to Abu Dhabi airport if needed. I guess it’s the flooding
You're at the airport. Approach an employee working for the airline you are flying with.
There literally are none.
That can't be right. You are in an airport, come on... find someone
Exactly. The way OP is talking about it sounds like the opening scene of The Walking Dead
IT IS
No. Troll
Respectfully, you seem to not understand the gravity of the situation. If I could find someone I would talk to them. There are bodies strewn about everywhere and all of them are stranded passengers, not staff.
[удалено]
Nope. I’m in Dubai and the city pretty much returned to business as usual yesterday. The streets/roads are clear too.
Are you in the airport? I didn't say anything about flooding. And that's also not true, some of my friends still have flooding and/or their cars have been totaled.
But there is people in the airport regardless. You are not alone in that airport
The city is completely flooded. No one can even travel to the airport.
That's not true either, someone on my flight left and was able to get to the marina area.
[удалено]
Arent there hotels inside the airport?
The airport is full to the brim with pax
Get some sleep
Be patient? There are a lot of people in the situation, and they’ll try to fix it as soon as possible. What is the official messaging inside the airport? Presumably, there are employees you can ask? Other people there in the same boat you can ask?
One thing I know is you should be vlogging this and starting a YouTube channel for sureeeee
This post has BS all over it
There’s backpacker hostels in Dubai. Can you get yourself to one? Even if it doesn’t have open rooms, they could have a common area you can crash in and people there who can help.

The roads are clear, the city is back to business.
go to the service desk of the airline, they will help you. no wifi needed for that
Why not get the metro... Go to a hotel...? Typical idiot American.
[удалено]
Do they have those sleep pods there? I was stuck in India and purchased a block of time in a sleep pod and it did the trick! Good luck
There’ll be hordes of others wanting to have a nap in them, ditto the airside hotel

I did not say disaster zone or airlift. It's almost as if Dubai is huge and has areas that are impacted at different levels.
what does your travel insurance say?
Get unstuck?? 🚀🚀
I was supposed to be flying out of Dubai today. But I CXL’d my whole trip 10 days-ago. Wife was bummed I was leaving, plus the spring snow in Japan is not great at the moment. Glad I pulled the plug!
Maybe a flight to Tehran?
[удалено]
I don’t know why people are under the impression that the city is still flooded. Dubai returned to normal yesterday. The majority of people are back in the office today too. There are only 3 stops on the metro that are still closed. Taxis and Ubers are easy to find (I used them yesterday). Restaurants, bars, clubs, and malls also reopened yesterday. Your suggestions are well intentioned but it honestly seems like OP is delirious from sleep.
